Review Govindam - Guwahati

Swadesh Bharadwaj
It's situated in the heart of the city that is in the Six mile area. It's one of the famous sweet shops in Guwahati. Their are various types of sweets🍧 available for example Rasmalai, Rosogolla, Gulab Jamun, Rabri, Kaju Katli and also a range of snacks are available like Samosa, Paav Bhaji, Kachori, Papri chaat, Dahi Vada etc. The quality is good but the price is high compared to the quality because of it's old reputation. Good place to have a bite but not that good for gifting as you can have better quality with the same price.
Bhaskar J Chintey
One of the best places in Guwahati if you are craving authentic chaats. I tried Raj Kachori on my last visit to the place. Food: 5 Ambience: 4 Service: 5

•One of the finest restaurants in the city, Govindam is a sweet and savoury restaurant located in GS Road. •It has been a hub of sophisticated indian sweet and savouries. •Tried the Indian Raj Kachori chaat for Rs 120. •It was delicious and had the perfect blend of spicy, sweet and tangy flavour that you would expect from a chaat. •Most importantly, with all the sauces and chutneys, the puri maintained its integrity which, I would consider, is a win-win situation.

I was just tempted when I show making there staff dosa … it was looking great and ordered for it … and I was happy that it’s even yummy… having such dosa in Assam was really a great thing there sambhar was ok but coconut Chutney was really great … then as always I had rasamalai ; rasagula chana Batuta ; all of them where very good …
UTKARSH VERMA
It is a very famous sweet and chaat shop in Guwahati. Different types of chat, fruit juices, south Indian dishes and many types of sweets are available here. We ordered Papdi chat and samosa chat. It was tasty and the prices were nominal. Papri chat is of 100/- and samosa chat is of 80/-
Rahul Buragohain
One of the best places for sweets in Guwahati, if you are in Dispute Sixmile area. Also their chats, Puri, chole bhature, pav bhaji are of good taste and quality. Juices are also available. Recommended.
Priyanka Maitra
Loved their Dosa & Paw Bhaji ❤️ Tea , Coffee, Lassi and Rasmalai ❤️ ❤️ Lassi is really thin & light but tastes good refreshing 3/5🤝🏻 Dosa 💌 5/5 Tea/Coffee 4/5🌻 Rasmalai 5/5 💌

I visited this place to buy some sweets for home. The place is located in GS road opposite Pantaloons. The quality of the sweet purchased was good. Apart from sweets you get idli dosa and chaats and panipuri fruit juice over there. It was a bit crowded and bit expensive but the quality of the food compensated for the price. The staffs were experienced and good. Overall nice experience in Govindam

One of the best for sweets and Fast Food (, Specially North Indian and South Indian) with Fresh Juice and Ice cream availability too. Although they cut the pockets deeper but the taste is worth it. Usually there is crowd here but eating area is ample. It is located on G S Road opposite to Downtown Hospital.

Govindam, a very famous name for every Guwahatians. All kinds of foods from sweets, fast foods, South Indian foods to mouth watering 😋 chats available. Yes the items are very tasty 😋 😍 😀 but the price of some items are in higher side. We tried the roasted rasgulla(₹40/-), 🤪 a unique and best 👌 item of the Govindam, will give ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for this. -⭐ for the price only. Still if one is looking for quality food then this is the place. Go for it.
Priyam Kashyap
A wonderful place to hangout for evening snacks. Ordered piyazi kachori, masala dosa and paw bhaji. All the items tasted very well. The price is reasonable. They have a wide range of options for food and sweets. In the shop there is a stall for fresh juice too. However they donot serve tea or coffee. One must try Roasted Rasgulla with rabri. This place remains busy almost all the time.
Rituparna Borah
I always stop by Govindam for the Idli and Masala Dosa, whenever I visit Guwahati. Going by north-eastern standards of south Indian food, they are amazing! I have had Dosa from almost all south Indian food serving restaurants in Guwahati, and still find the ones in Govindam the best. It's a pity the south Indian section is not open at all times of the day.
Baibhob Bawlari
Best sweets are available there. Price is average but quality of items are good.
Ayushman Baruah
Food quality has never been compromised ever in this shop. It's one of the best place to have your bite evening snacks in the city.
Bhaskar Mahanta
They make good quality (a bit rich on Ghee though) sweets. Snacks and chats are equally good here. Totally vegetarian collection.

I was provided with wrong item , i ordered for chat and gulab jamun and was provided with dosa and fruit salad . I didn't even got refunded and Zomato aap didn't even provide me with any explanation..
Ubee1083
Ordered for a plain dosa and paapri chat and was delivered with a totally burnt dosa and worst tasting chat ever!!!
Nishigandha Das
This place has been my all time favourite. It has a wide varities of Indian sweets with reasonable price and they taste very good. It also serves chaats and fast food. All food are totally hygienic and all items are vegetarian.
In the morning they serve puri and sabji, and thats one of my favourite. Another favourite of mine is their jalebis. They are totally yum.
The Robust Foodie
I am in love with govindam, the food, the sweets are really soft and scrumptious, specially the gulabjamun. Govindam is a perfect place for desserts and your sweet cravings ❤
Riya Soni
This place has the most amazing chat and sweets are good too .
Rashi Singal
The best jalebi in Guwahati. Small size and crisp.
Namrata
Ordered 3 samosa,1 kachori,250 grams nimki & 2 types of sweets bill amount Rs.574..Everything came properly except the samosa, instead of 3 samosa, they gave only 2 samosa.
Akshay Jain
Oldest sweet shop in guwahati.....I ordered plain dosa, masala dosa, aloo tikki chat,tea....chat was awesome and masala dosa was superb....but i didn't plain dosa....overall nice experience....i will visit again
Tonmoyee Nath
The plain dosa and jalebi here is absolutely yummy. I had ordered online. The packaging was also good. Overall I'm very happy with the food, taste and portion wise. Will definitely order again, hot yummy jalebi.
Neha Vandini
Samosa is always good in taste , and imarti was also good 😋but size is very small 😞..!!!
Food Around The World
It is the best place in Guwahati to eat chaat.
Iffat Jerifa
I found a broken tooth in the sweets...i liked the sweets so preferred it for a special occasion..but it was so disgusting! Yuck! I wamt a strict action to be taken!
Puravee Bordoloi
Well govindam is known for its sweets, but I don't eat sweets so my priorities are shakes sandwiches and chats always. Whenever I go home, never forget to collect dry fruits barfi or pure ghee wala sweets from govindam for my mom which are her absolute favorite.
Jita Hazarika
Govindam is very far away from my place but I never miss out a chance to have a chaat or puchka or sweets there. Its a very friendly place with a very reasonable price. But I would say please get a parking space for yourself because its always full.
Bini Konsam
Was craving for some pani puri one evening and ended up in Govindam's. Varieties of snacks to choose from. Their Pav bhaji was good enough, masala dosa was ok andpani puri as well. Always abit crowded but then people are attracted to good food, aren't they? 😁
Banashree Baruah
Govindam is one of my favorite sweet destinations but with popularity they have compromised a lot on the quality. Today I went with a friend to relish Pani Puri and Chaat but was it our bad luck or carelessness of the owners that we found hairs in both the Pani Puri and the chaat. After seeing a hair in the container we informed the person that it was ok and we did not want to have it though we have already taken the token. The Pani Puri wala was about to wear his gloves to serve us the Pani Puri but what about his hair. Next we moved to the Chaat counter to relish two plates of delicious Papdi chat but to our surprise my friend found a hair after having two spoonfuls. We immediately threw the plates in the dustbin. My concern in writing this review is that we trust the restaurant or outlet when we go to eat there but the outlets should take out most care while storing and serving the food. Please do something as we do not often end up going to places where we are served unhygienic food! Rest all is good!
Bhavna Das
Pure ghee sweets are served here. Food availability also includes variety. More of a take-away outlet because of lack of sitting arrangements.
Kalyan Panja
It is an extremely popular food joint with mostly sweets, desserts and snacks on offer. The place always remains quite crowded. The taste of the food items are great. The prices are on the higher side.
Hriday
Its one of the most popular sweet house in the town and they have well maintained the quality of their products. The chaat house attracts a variety of people in the evening especially and its even a famous place among the tourists. Their special chai is worth a try along with their other dishes which all tastes great.
Ayana Hazarika
One of the busiest Sweet and snacks shop in this town. From chat counter to juice to chai to sweets to south Indian cuisine to North Indian. What not? Everything is GOOD here. Do try their Chole Bhatura and Dosa. Also their chat menu is awesome. Never come back without tasting their special chai, you will regret it otherwise. I recently tried the Jalebi and rabri which is an eternal combination and it was sooo delectable. If you are a tourist then you must give a visit to this place. It's iconic!!
Foodpecker
A must visit mithai ki dukan!
Various types of mithais and rasgullas are available here.
The service is good.
But remains quite hectic when there are more customers.
The pav bhaji is fabulous. Everytime I visit this place, I order a pav bhaji.
But there is no place to sit and eat. Well I guess everyone know this place so it needs not much description about its ambience.
Alakesh Baniya
The owner is the most disrespectful person I've ever come across. I went there with my friends for juice early in the morning after a cycle run. The man says " Cycle udher rakh!" in the tone you can literally hear in Anurag Kashyap's movies. Typical bitter old "Dukhi Aatama" to say in their tongue. Following that he refused to serve us anything saying "Nahi Khula" while there were people eating in front of us. And there isn't a single employee who bothers to speak Assamese?? I mean honestly! There are many shops in Guwahati selling the same quality stuff. Why bother going here?? If there was a negative rating option. This shop should get that IMO.
Food Bae
A popular sweet shop in guwahati most of the time crowded specially in evening time there sweets are best found in ghy once you visit there will visit again for sure also snakes are equally tasty moreover total hygine is maintained
Shazeaa Alam
I just tried their jalebis and pav bhaji. The bhaji is nice and not over the top masaledar. The pav however was not very soft and crispy on the outside. On the other hand, the jalebis were so damn good that I managed to gobble up 8 of them straighy away *yes, don’t judge me* Next time I visit Guwahati, I’ll definitely come back for these Jalebis!
Gyandeep Bhattacharjya
Really mouthwatering sweets...had samosa and laaddoo...its worth of every penny..price is little high..service is prompt..so many small outlet with different varities of food..under one roof..

happy..fooding peeps 😊😊😊
SUMIT DAS
Situated in a prime locality in the downtown vicinity, the place does serve some delicious fare for those with a sweet tooth. I find their sweets fresh and very appealing. Haven't yet tried out their snacks. Will soon write a follow up review for that.

Tried their pav bhaji. Wasn't bad but I have had better. The bhaji was a little too runny & a little more butter while frying the bread could have helped. At 80 bucks, it was a decent meal.
Meraj Ahmed
If your around Sixmile and Rikmani Gaon, and you havent been here.. Or atleast heard of it... How come? Slightly difficult. Its all time favorite snacks point also they do quick lunch along with best sweets in the area. Its happiness multiplied every time u are here
Joel
Can't even recall the number of times I have been here. Always for the chai highly recommended and do try the gajar ka halwa when it is warm it's the best. Paav bhaji is also excellent.
Ameya Pise
We were here in the last week of Dec 2018. This is an outlet kind of restrnt. There is no place to sit, and one has to eat standing. Very tasty puchkas. Puchkas are similar to paani -puri, just a bit more khatta. Was crowded and is famous for street food.
A&M
Govindam is easily one of the most popular and easily noticable sweet shops in the city. It's popularity has increased tremendously in the past 3-5years (considering it's a relatively new shop). Credit must me given to the good quality of items which they are providing.
I absolutely love their hot crisp gelebis, fried in ghee.... absolutely yummy.
Other sweets are also good but nothing exceptional.
The chat section is something which is quite popular and rightly so...as the taste is quite good and more importantly it seems clean.
Only problem about this place is that it's very crowded and the staffs are simply overburdened and have no idea how to talk with customers.
Overall a good place for chaats and sweets if you have no problem with crowded places, poor service and you like to eat standing ( no seating arrangements in this place).
Jenika Sumi
This PLACE best for Indian sweets👍👍👍
Rasgulla and jalebies are to die for.
Craving for something sweet???This is the place you should opt for!!!
Earthy Angel
Had this aloo tikki chat which was not that great but edible. But my favorite are sweets there, they are all mouth watering and made from desi ghee. All the stars for the sake of their sweets.
Diksha Kashyap
Location: opp to Pantaloons, Downtown
Service: good
Famous for its sweets n chaats n even juices
Pav bhaji is good too
They have been maintaining their quality since years..
Tatiya Sharma
The sweets are great.. however.. the savoury items could have been a bit more better.. the place is also so busy that it gets dirty pretty soon.. would really appreciate if they keep it a bit more hygienic on the outer side of the counter as well..
Kaushik Choudhury
Specialised in sweets but dont get misguided by the name...u also get other things to experience here other than sweets alone...this shop is right opposite to the pantaloons, dispur...so do visit govindam if u happen to go there...
They have a wide variety of snacks and sweets with substalls set up....i have tried some of the street food items and they are finger licking...the chaats are just perfect and finally the sweetness of the mithaais leaves a good mark on your tongue....
You dont have a sitting area here and the service is ok i would say....
Jnanesh Deka
One of the best sweet shops in the city. I am an avid lover of Ghee made sweets and they are one of them to serve. Their chats are also quite good. Only for their quality and popularity, the number of customers is too large anytime of the day which subtracts a lot of time from your schedule. But that foesnt count much. A trendy place i would say. I didnt like the taste of their Dosa's and also the Tea was bot that perfect. Other than that it is a good place to have quality sweets.
Anurag
My favorite sweet store in Guwahati. Whenever I am in that side of town, I stop by for their dhoklas and panipuri. Hygenic place which is almost always busy.
Chayanika
Best outlet for evening snacks....the jalebi is very tasty ...and paw bhaji is also good.... Hungry after shopping, den visit this outlet....it is located opposite pantaloons, Down town...full value for money and taste..☺☺
Washim Ahmed Barbhuiya
I just loved the jalebi...tastes good...and other sweets namkeens were also upto the mark, you can also find chats over there and also the place is convenient
Anjuman Mech
First try and it was a hit! Love the place. The sweets are really good and something worth spending money on. They also have a corner for fruit juice and shakes and another corner for Indian street food of which the taste of Pav Bhaji is still dancing on my tongue. The ambience is nice and is surprisingly quite busy too. I would suggest it as a great place to hang out with your group of friends.
Indrani Sarma
Located right opposite the Pantaloons outlet near six mile, govindam sweets is quite a hotspot for sweet and savoury snacks..lipsmaking sweets made of desi ghee are perfect in taste while they have made quite a name for their chaats in the outside counters.
You will mostly see it crowded during the day, with customers thronging for either sweets or to grab a quick chat or a plate of samosas or pani puri perhaps.just to mention, there is no sit down arrangement in this place..its either a take away or you might want to take a quick bite and continue on your journey ahead.

While its all good, but unfortunately they dont really stock assamese sweets. For someone like me who lives outside assam and go back home on vacations, its those typical assamese sweets like sandesh, pedas, kalakands that entice us, not the ghee based sweets that is mostly familiar innother cities as well. The sweets of Guahati are distinct and exquisite and as an assamese that's the root of our sweet delicacies. So for me, i would rather go to a sweet shop that sells typical assamese mithais and not govindam unless i desire for some desi ghee based sweets.
From the hospitability perspective, the hindi speaking staff is pretty rude and inpolite which is quite a dampener.

But the chats counter is quite well done in terms of taste and can definetely be recommended.

So if you want are on a visit to Ghy and want to puck up some typical assamese sweets then this is not the place, however if you desire for some familiar and universal desi ghee based sweets then govindam definetely will please you plalate.
Atlanta Talukdar
Located in the prime location opposite to Pantaloons, Downtown. Jalebis are awesome and so are the other sweets and savoury items. One can enjoy the chaat and dosa's as well. The staffs are bit arrogant. One needs to wait for sometime to place their orders. No sitting facility. Prices are average.
Juri Boro
This place is great for any kind of Chaats and Sweets. Varieties of mithais are available. The sweets especially the Ghee waale Jalebis are great. You can visit the place at any time and you can have them! It is very crowdy during festivals but the service is good so you need not worry.
The_unknown_food_battle
Govindam just opposite to Pantaloons, mostly remains crowded all the days. I think it doesn't need any much explanation. Its veg chop, mixed chat, pav bhaji everything is to die for😍 all items are so fresh.
Navoday Das
Nice sweets and snacks that this place has.... The place is very easy to locate... The place is always jam packed.... One of the better sweet shops in this area
Rituparna Barua
Govindam brings u quality sweets..... The desi ghee n kesar mix jalebi of govindam r my persnl favorites. . They have a wide variety of sweets n namkin. .
The chat countr also relishes our taste buds wid d chatpatta chats. .
Risa Kalita
A varieties items can be found here ranging from sweets, chaats, milshakes etc. Infront of pantaloon, sixmile its very clearly noticeable from the main road. Once u come here, you can have enough options available to have based on your choice.
I tried jalebi, mango shake and papri chaat- which was good. Costwise too its reasonable.
Bhargav Gogoi
We visited this place in the afternoon so none of the chat items in the menu were there. We ordered kachori and tea, kachori was good but I've had better ones and tea was too sweet and a little watery. The service here is informal and the staff looked bored, but since it's only a sweet shop, that can be excused.
Govindam is certainly one of the better sweet shops in the city but it's a little over hyped.
CA Kanishka Agarwal
I am quite used to having zalebiea and samosas from this place... On evenings, family crowd visits this eating joint in large numbers... The quality of snacks and sweets is quite high... Also, the items are fairly priced & the location is just opposite of the Pantaloons store...
Salma Nasrin
This place is highly recommended. Located at dispur opposite pantaloons, this remains crowded mostly. The jalebis out there are amazing and the other sweets they serve are really good. They also serve amazing chaats and some superb paw bhaji and dosa.
$ @ M
Best place to have your evening snacks.....my fav are Dosa and chaats....taste is fantastic...all fresh...price is reasonable.....but no place to sit and eat...so i bring them and eat in my room
Sukanya
Paw bhaji & chaats are the awesome. You can try any of the sweets here... All of them are so nice.. You get the taste of that fresh butter & milk that makes you happy with sweets........
Sonu Gupta
A sweet shop. Busy sweet shop. There's only sweets and snacks. The dosa is good. Chat is okay. No place to sit. A good seating place and little hygiene could take the place much ahead.
Utpal Sarma (Yourfoodieguide)
There is nothing much to write about this Kind of place which is in the business of serving for generations. If love eating different types of chat , pav bhaji ,jalebis then you can definitely try this place and it will surely satisfy your cravings. The pav bhaji and jalebis are my personal favorite.
Buggs
It is overhyped. 'Best sweets, omg'. No,not that good. 🌚 There are actually many other sweet shops which sells equally tasty sweets.
One afternoon,I had an savoury item from Govindam. It had a (kind of) pubic hair inside, entangled with the veggies. That was enough for me to puke everything out.
Krishanoo Kr. Bhattacharyya
Probably one of the best sweet shops around this part of Guwahati. Well known for their sweets , specially their gulab jamuns and jalebis made in pure ghee. All their sweets are very tasty but it is their rasmalai that is a class apart from the rest.
Their only drawback is the lack of seating space
Sinjini Bhattacharya
Nice sweets. Had coconut sandesh and jalebi. It was really tasty. Also had dahi vada. That was also very good. I am from Kolkata, the paradise for sweet loving people. But I loved the sweets here as well.
Hungry Panda
You need to go to this place and treat yourself. The best sweets ever. There is a chat house and a juice junction and ice cream parlor attached as well. Trust me,go check-in anytime it's always crowded! The aroma of ghee and butter will pull you there if you happen to pass nearby. In front of Pantaloons, easy to spot.
Gargi Deka
Not a favourite of mine but definately a constantly liked sweet and snack house. Certain Sweets and jalebis are the most liked items here. Apart from sweets i tried thei pav bhaji. On that i can comment it was not up to the mark but plus point is the pav's were diripping with amul butter. 😋 Overall one of the quality sweet houses in the city
Rimzim Lahkar
Govindam is located in Dispur, opposite to Pantaloons. This is probably the best place in town to have jalebis! Made in pure ghee, the jalebis are fresh and crispy. Besides jalebis, the other sweets tastes really good too. I love their rasmalai. They also serve dosas, paneer masala dosa is my favourite! Highly recommended.
Foodieforeverandever23/Kabyashree
My favourite sweet shop all around the city and its the best ... Govindam serves you some great Gulab Jamuns , Chaats are just awesome, pani puri is mouth watering ... My all time favourites are the Jalebi's , they are juicy yummy .
Coming to other foods items cakes are just fine and the piyazi Kachori's are yummy to have ...
It's a great sweet shop overall ...👍
Angshu Lnx
Govindam = The best jalebis in Guwahati. One of only few places in town which makes their jalebis in desi ghee, which makes them so crispy and yummy.

The other sweets are just as good here and their service is pretty good for a sweet shop. The snacks are tasty but over-priced as far as the quantity is concerned.
Although there is no sitting arrangement and there is almost always a throng of people here, you will get what you order pretty fast. Parking too is usually available in front of the shop.
Antaraa (Emon)
One of the best sweet shop in guwahati. The JALEBI out there is the best in town! Located at a prime location, and serves delicious sweets and snacks. I love their jalebis, rasmalai, rosgolla, gulab jamun, and various other sweets. Along with it, they also serve various chats and street food, like pav bhaji, dosas, chats, puchka, kachori, samosa etc. Other than that they also have a juice counter, where you get different seasonal fruit juices and milkshakes! Overall it's a nice place.
Archisman Chakraborty
Govindam is a nice place to have tasty food. They have a wide range of sweets which generally is quite good. Apart from that the other fast food items such as Pav Bhaji, Puris, Chats etc. are worth having. Juices is probably the one section that i found disappointing. Its simply overpriced for its quality...
Rupam Phukan
Sweets are okay. Dosa and panipuri, not upto the mark. Specially Dosa, they can be way better. Raj kachori, gulla, and other famous sweets are delicious. In front of pantaloons, so, kind of a good place to hang out for evening snacks.
Navajyoti Goswami
Been to this place only once and had a really bad experience; I had ordered gulab jamun and chat, the chat was tasty, but when I had my first bite of the gulab jamun, I found a pubic hair inside it, disgusting. The staff are egoistic. I think it's just working on the phenomenon of crowd draws crowd.
Spondan Bora
Desi Ghee, Unadulterated Milk and sugar in the right amount is what makes the sweets of this place attracting so many people. Located opposite the Pantaloons, their sweets and snacks are extremely good and big in size. Also for Idli Dosa lovers, one can take a quick bite. However the sweets are a little overpriced but otherwise a very great place to grab a little snack and tea and take a bite of the hot jalebi.
Chetna Khetawat
Damn!!! You can't not have chaats here when you are at Guwahati!! Bang opposite of pantaloons, this is my ever favorite.. be it Tikki chat, Pav Bhaji, Papri Chat and even Puchka!!! Yumm is the word! And it looks hygienic enough considering the price and nature being street food!!! Try once.. and yes.. The Jalebis as well!! 😍😋
Ruchira Baruah
Take ₹100 and you will be back with a happy tummy from here. Their chat menu is mouthwatering and the actual chat is even better. I always go for their Papdi Chat. The Aloo Tikki Chat is another favourite in the family. The sweets are sold fresh and worth the amount that one pays for them. Now they have opened up a juice centre as well. Hopefully, they will keep up their standard and not fall prey to the commercialised nature of many shops. So be here and you wouldn't regret, atleast for now! :)
Rajkamal Das
Good place to have a cup of coffee with some sweets after some shopping at Pantaloons. However the staffs are probably the worst in Guwahati. I always find them arguing with someone or the other every time I visit their place.
Ashish Baruah
Nice place for a quick snack. The menu is rich ryt from a variety of sweets, puffs, chats, dosas, beverages, juices, jalebis, pani puris n what not. Taste wise it's quite good and aptly priced, although a bit crowded and u will need to be persistent wid ur order. Location is good wid Pantaloon close by and ample parking space.
Hrishiraj Talukdar
Been here many times because of its jalebis and the chats.i liked the dhokla there as well.sweets are good but a bit overpriced. Its a good place to hang out with your friends, family. An ideal place for sweet lovers as well.if you visit there make sure you try some freshly made jelebis don't go for the already made..if you like this review follow me.i have reviewed many a restaurants. The prices of the sweets are increasing day by day.
Kiranjit
Its in nearby our locality. So its natural i visited govindam alot .. First of all the staffs are very arrogant.. i had to wait 2-3 times for the staff to serve sweets.. the sweets are overpriced too.. morever there is no sitting facility..
Shashi Bhushan
They have no sitting facility. There staffs are so arrogant. Sweets are good but snacks are not at par. Close by there is hangout place name Food.com where u can get good ambience and variety of food. You can try it out...
Prasanna Baruah
I vividly remember when dad and I visited this place about four years ago and since than this place is THE place I go to to sink my teeth some delightful jalebis...though there are other notable things on the menu (especially the chats which are very good) and the wide array of sweets but the the jalebis are the cream of the pudding for me hands down (because they are that good)...
A MUST TRY FOR ANYONE HAVING A SWEET TOOTH...
Tara D
I like this place..every time I have been here, which is mostly on evenings,it's been bustling with a lot of people eating with great abandon. My favourites are the jalebis and pani puri. Also, there is so much variety of short eats, etc that I do tend to overeat on most visits :)
Prio
Well... I am on a visit to Guwahati. While roaming around here I encountered this place and decided to try something.... This resulted in a plate of pau bhaji, aalu tikki chat and jalebi's. In simple words its amazing. This has been the best part of the trip till now
Arpita Dey
Found the price of some of the sweets bit more than it should be but the quality has won my heart. Amazing quality of sweets, snacks & beverages and commendable collection of them all. 4.5 from my side because there's always scope for improvement and won't be surprised to see some more awesome stuff!
Pranjit Das
What is interesting in this place is the behaviour of the staff!!! Arrogant and egotistic attitude is what they are filled with. Probably due to the crowd they always attract in the evenings or bcoz of their earned name in the quality of their sweets... U can never expect to get a change of 5 bucks or less in return as they are always short of change!!! Either you have to manage it by taking extra or not to take anything at all but they will never return ur change!!! The quality of sweets is OK... The jalebis are made in pure ghee which they always boast of... The chats also require some extra inputs as most of their chats taste same... Overall a place with a variety of snacks...
N.B.- The crowds draw in more crowds!!!
Sidhartha Dutta
Easy to located with variety of sweets. Although quality is of lesser quality compared to any of the biggies JBs , Kiranshree or Makhan Bhog. I didnt compare them with the Misthi bogs or Poornima sweets because the variety of sweets is not the traditional type. The Kaju Katli was good but the Nariyal barfis had a tinge of black color around the edges so could not distinguish if it was overburnt or had a slight invasion of fungal growth. I did throw it away. I have tasted their jalebis too its good but still has to climb the ladder. It remains crowded owing to its variety and also location. They also have the stuffed samosas and other stuffes snacks but 3 rating is an exaggeration I feel 2.5 rating should be enough. This review is based on 80 packets of sweet variety. Packaging takes time but nevertheless up to the mark. Overall good a little above average. Can be negated if other options are available.
Monalisa Biswas (I Live To Eat)
Ideal place for junk food freaks and people with sweet tooth. I am fond of Govindam's aaloo tikki chaat, raj kachori chaat and papdi chaat. If you have a sweet tooth, you may also try its yummilicious ghewar. Only drawback : they don't have a seating arrangement.
Saumyadeep Bhattacharjee
This place is just opposite Pantaloons and is usually crowed in the evening. It is a regular hangout spot for me and my friends and is a good place to have hygienic street foods..
Sayan Adhikari
Awesome quality of sweets with delicious chats. Panipuri quality so so. My favorite jalebi and gulab jamun. Hygienic food with reliable quality.

Awesome julab jamun and jalebi. Loved it. Not a very sweet preferring person but then these two items are worth a try. The amount of crowd in this place speaks about the quality of the food as well.

Been here couple of times. I never was impressed with the sweets but the chaats. Well the reason to come here from paltanbazar on winter evenings was for the chaat only. One of the best I have ever eaten in Guwahati.

With a wide variety of sweet and savory items, Govindam is surely one of the biggest sweet shop in Guwahati. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but is expected with the quality of the products and the hygiene maintained.

My rating - 3/5

One of the more premier sweet shops in the city, Govindam offers a huge variety of sweets at acceptable prices. Their Dhoklas, lassis and dahi are among my all time favourite. However, it is during the evening that the place takes on a new life as their chaat and pani puri counters open. Govindam's pani puri is definitely on of the better ones out there. Must try.

Hungry? Want a quick snack that would fill your stomach for a couple of hours and also won't dig deep into your pocket? Then, this is the perfct place. The food is prepared just after you order. A plate of Pav Bhaji defintely won't leave any space in your tummy for more food unless you have a big big appetite. And its delicious too. Sweets also deserve a special mention. In short, any hungry person in the Dispur/ Down Town area must not miss this place.
PS. You won't get to sit while eating. No arrangement for chairs!

I agree with all the reviews. The place provides a variety of options. The chaats are awesome. I like the raj kachori. It's very close to the ones I used to have in Delhi haldiram outlets. The motichoor laddoos are not exactly what I thought it would be but the rasmalais are awesome. Really crowded which is a sign that the place is really popular. While you shop at Pantaloons, your better halfs can spend a good time there :)

Probably one of the busiest and known sweet shop not just in Six Mile area but in guwahati. Located opposite Pantaloons store, it has varieties of sweets, desserts, diary products. Sweets are bit pricey (but that is expected given the area and their reputation , so no complain) but their sweets are bigger and better in taste than most of other sweet stores in the city. Other then sweets they have very good #GAJAR KA HALWA (one should try it, its good) and #FRUIT CASTER. And few other quality attraction of their shop are two other lovely counters- #JUICE COUNTER and #CHAT COUNTER (all the chats are quite impressive).
And the service is quite fast and the shop looks quite hygiene. So next time you go shopping in Pantaloons end your day with their sweets or chats, you will love it.

Perhaps, the only "noticeable" Sweet Stall (Misthan Bhandar) in Dispur area and its right opposite to the PANTALOONS. Well, all the credit goes to its BIG GLOWING BANNER!! Coming to food, the sweets are really tasty, but a bit costly. The shopkeeper maintains the cleanliness of the place. If you're a sugar tooth, you will love this place. In case, you're a CHAT Freak, this place has food options for you too. Let it be papri chat or mixed chat, this place serves it all.

So, next time, if you're in Dispur area, you can pay this stall a visit.

*Cheers*
