One can finid hoards of people into this place often sipping tea coffee.. This time I find in the side centre for milkshakes too.. Dint try but I guess in summer its a good option to pick too..

Irrespective of the season, this place is always crowded. One of the oldest shop in Fancy Bazar for samosas , sweets , this place serves variety of sweets and alu chop with chutney. LAKHIMI CABIN has always been great and in best location for office collegues or shoppings , both pocket friendly and favourable. My personal favourite is Gaza and samosa with chutney. They have tea options as well .. Theyld still improve on their ambience though.
Must visit for all!

Something that never get old. The place I preferred most whenever in fancy bazar area for a cup of tea and samosa of course. Also Love their patisepta pitaπŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ it's just perfect. Slight change in taste and not as it used to be. but loyalties continues to flock the place as before.

We're slowing moving towards a time when the so called SELF SERVICE era is taking over the good old days, when you step into a small roadside restaurant and a person would come up to you to take your order and yes take it without the help of any pen or paper by just asking KI KHABO DADA. These places are either going extinct or are on a downward spiral due to a variety of reasons, not this one though. I remember when I was in Shankar Academy this was my regular spot to catch my morning fill of tea and samosah (or rather saah aru singora)..
Lakhimi cabin's been around since 1945 and the consistency in taste is a testimont to it's longevity...hope this goes on for many more years to come...

This place was opened by person in or around 1945,this place have seen Guwahati transforming from a jungle to a major business hub in North East India,
This place is known for of their SAMOSAS,and I like their coffee too, their hospitality is great,as soon as you pick a table, a server will come to you and place a glass and ask 'KI KHHAABO DA' which is more than enough in this 'self service' era for serving a single samosa....

Lakhimi Cabin located at the heart of guwahati , Fancy Bazar and being the oldest sweet shop in an around the city is famous all over Assam . Maintaining its heritage , it looks as the same I saw years before being a child.. After shopping in Fancy bazar one surely decides for a cup of tea with its amazingly tasty , full flavoured Samosas(Sigora) ... Tempting Ras Malai and it's mouth watering Rosogolla ...
Lakhimi Cabin has many memories and I know many people like me have the same...
One should surely try this superb place at low prices ...

Being a hardcore Guwahatian I am quite familiar with this place. One of the oldest in town. For most Guwahatians shopping in Fancy bazar is not complete without having a hot cup of tea and a freshly made hot samosa served with chutney in Lakhimi Cabin. My personal favourite there is the Pati chapta sweet they serve. 1 is never enough fo me and i end up having 2-3 pati chaptas. Yes! It is that tastey. The samosa served there is 1 of the best in town. Apart from these other sweets, chops etc. are also great. You dont need good ambience in places like this. Cleanliness, speed and good food is what u expect frm places like this and they dont fail to stand up to your expectations.

Whether you grew up as a native of this now pulsating, burgeoning metropolis or happened to be, like I did, an outsider exiled from one of the many small towns of Assam in search of a better education, chances are pretty high that Lakhimi Cabin will figure in your personal history of adaptation and fat-aptation. Sneaking out of the lecture halls of beloved Cotton, I found solace in the generous aloo filling of its samosas alias singaras, soothed many a bout of homesickness with its steaming tea and realised more about life and the fight it is while jostling to order and procure my orders on crowded evenings when Fancy Bazaar spews it's load of bags and the men and women holding them into he small premises of this age old institution.

Truth be told now, the singaras are nothing special. You get better tea in fancy bazaar and the sweets are as mediocre as any other joint in Guwahati. Yet, an experience (not a joint, mind you, this) is not simply the cumulative score of checkboxes ticked and crossed, of fillings and tastes and clinical reviews.

Lakhimi Cabin does not fall in that niche; and that many of the natives of Guwahati and numerous of the naturalised denizens like me who have seen the city evolve will testify to.

Lakhimi Cabin is caught in a time warp and thankfully so. It is not the gesticulating spot of a wannabe food aficionado. It is an inextricable part of kharkhua lore. An indelible impression of the times we grew up in, still nurturing the city that once was.

And perhaps even impressions, no matter how faint, of the persons that we once were.

So go out, stand in the heat, sweat perspire and devour that singara with the red chutney and slurp the tea with zest and say Viva La Guwahati!

Been here for some of the most memorable tea and samosa of life. With classmates for that ol' tea joint feel; alone for the silent thinking and solitude. A usual routine when I visit this place would be to have tea and then walk to the river side for a evening stroll.

Lakhimi Cabin is definitely one of the oldest joints in Guwahati, which has managed to survive the brunt of time. The samosas or 'singra' as it is known in the local dialect, with sweet chutney is definitely a crowd puller. At a time when most contemporaries have moved on to electric tea/coffee makers, lakhimi cabin still brew their tea the traditional way - something I not only love but also look forward to everytime I visit this place. However, don't step in expecting to rest your heels over some hunger satisfying food. Its got sweets and snacks on its limited menu which along with a cup tea is surely going to charge you up after a wild shopping spree.

The coffee along with the samosas are just awesome.......the price might be a little high considering the locality and ambience, but the taste is amazing and you might just want to come back here over and over again just for these two items......

Visited this place a lot during my days in SSA pannazar. Not a resturant type place with A/c with comfy seating arrangement. Just a place to go for a cup of tea and their famous samosa with their sweet chutney. Have some gossips over the cup of tea and samosa..aah...what do you need more ?? Small things in life are enjoyed like this. Also it offers tasty sweets. A very old place it is.

With its ancient heritage, this is a place to go for a cup of tea and its iconical "Singra"/ Samosa. You may not bump onto some extraordinary cooking but the energy is filled with the spirit of the tinsel town that once used to be bedrock of commercial activity for the entire region. Time has passed and so the footfall, may be, but the enigmatic energy that I draw every time I visit here is immaculate.

Visit it for a cup of hot tea served along with the steaming hot Singra in sweet sauce! Relish the adda!

It is a very old, very popular tea and sweet shop in the prime location of Fancy Bazaar in Guwahati. Near to the Baptist Church of Panbazar. You have to take a stand in one of the standing area (FYI there are no seats, stools, plastic chairs etc.), one of their servers would come and take your orders from existing menu. Within a minute you are served accordingly. Go for the safe options of Samosa/Pyaaz Kachori and Chai. It will be served fast. You can try the Rasmalai or the Kalakand sweet. They make it fresh everyday.

Established back in 1942, Laxmi Cabin has been a popular restaurant since its infancy. It is located in Fancy Bazaar. Had the samosa and its tea. They tasted average and regular like any other shop. Except the prices were a bit on the moderate to high range, samosa for Rs 17 and tea for Rs 10. But keeping in mind its history, the prices make total sense. πŸ‘

I will not be surprised if this is the oldest sweets shop in the Fancy Bazar area or in Guwahati in general. It certainly is one of the oldest. I just love their samosas(singara) and chatney. Their sweets in general are fantastic and there is no compromise in quality. The place has an old quintessential charm about it. Must visit place according to me.
