Review Minerva Coffee Shop - Hyderabad

Rohit Kaulgud
Stopped by for a quick tiffin in the late afternoon and must say the place lives up to its reputation. Some of the best coffee I've had in the city. The classic onion rava dosa was also as good as the reviews claim! Being a popular eatery though, it is almost always very crowded and there's considerable wait time to get a table, especially for large groups

I recently had the pleasure of breakfast , and it was truly a delightful experience from start to finish. The ambiance is warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. The staff was not only attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations.

The place is vibrant, hustling and bustling no matter what the time. Good hangout place for people of all age groups. Lovely food and service as always. Guntur idly is a must try.

Best Vegetarian hotel around Himayath nagar!!! Had a good experience at this place when we last checked in. Food - Gotta say quality is their first priority. All the dishes were good.👍🏼 Service - Even if huge crowd turns up they are equipped with ample staff👌🏼 Ambience - Big area to accomodate large crowds with pleasant interiors If it not for the price i would have given a 5 star 😅

I have visited Hyderabad quite a few times but without fail I always had my first breakfast at this place & at this same outlet no matter what. The place serves a variety of South Indian food & beverages & goes by the name Minerva Coffee House. They have been in business for more than 35 years & have since opened a number of branches around Hyderabad. I visited their Himayatnagar Branch. I ordered - - Ghee Karam Dosa - Idly Vada - Poori - Filter Coffee Ghee Karam Dosa is paper crisp masala dosa made in ghee & karam Podi which is a spicy dry chutney is put in dosa. It is served with Chutneys & Sambhar. Idly Vada, freshly made a slightly bigger size idly for us & a Vada served with podi, chutneys & Sambhar. Then came Poori which was served with Korma which is a mixed veg stew majorly consisting of potato & beans. To finish it all off nothing better than their hot piping filter coffee was served. Everything here was delicious. Flavour in dosa was a bit on the spicy side just how I like & is because of Karam podi but the richness of ghee surely balanced it. Idly was very soft & melted in the mouth, Vada was crispy outside & perfectly cooked inside. Their poori & Korma are just a perfect twist to our aloo poori version. The service was very fast but we were quite early there when they had only a handful of customers & had just opened. Total bill came to INR 557

I have been visiting this place since my childhood. The quality and tastes of the food is very good and remain the same. I love the ambiance of this restaurant, it feels very nostalgic from me personally.

A Sunday morning having guntur idly and coffee here. Vibes are great as the place is packed and they have enough staff to attend on time. Been going there since ages and never been disappointed.
Varad Limkar
Exceptional coffee is served with a warm smile. The charming ambiance makes it a delightful spot for both work and relaxation. The attentive staff adds a welcoming touch to the overall experience.
Imin9clouds
It took 20 min to take my order and 44 min to deliver it to me once the order has been taken. Delivery sucks

Was a big fan of this restaurant!! Recently visited this place was very very disappointed! The food was literally taste less guys! And the waiter was so ridiculous and irresponsible for his duty! Hope I never visit this restaurant in my future!

One of my favourite and a best place to visit for some South Indian cuisine. Ambiance here are simple, decent crowd, great service.
My favourites for breakfast here are Button idly, butter dosa, regular dosa and of course their filtered coffee. For lunch they have this South Indian thali and lot more.
Overall rating: 4.8/5
Ambiance: 4/5

The rate of experience and expectation from this restaurant is definitely worth a Thumbs up. It is one of the most finest restaurants in Hyderabad for all the Vegans. The food is tasty and just scrumptious.
Being opened for public for more the 30 years now, Minerva never left any stones unturned for its customers in maintaining it Taste, Quality, Service and Ambience.
I have had almost every item on their menu in the past 15 years and is an absolute delight to repeat the same dishes as well.
Minerva brings out to us all varieties of South Indian delicacies from Idly to that of Dosa, Pongal and Puri.
Breakfasts are a set to anyone who lives close by to this restaurant.

Channelling through this multi-cuisine aspect, Minerva pulled out those items tremendously as well. We see a variety of South Indian, North Indian, Biryani and Continental dishes in its menu serving with equal taste.
It’s Veg Manchurian, Veg Fried Rice, Palak Paneer, Paneer Butter Masala are just so delicious.

It’s a Restaurant worth a visit, re-visit and future-visit. Thank you Minerva to exist for all the Vegetarian.

I ordered rava dosa from Minerva coffe shop a while back & was so happy with taste, texture or the dosa ! Many a times o find rava getting soft on asked for parcel but this wasn’t & sure can be tried many times.

Taste-4/5 (price was a little heavy tho )

Pathetic service!! Waiters are arrogant!! Don't even care to serve water bottle till you check out!! neither do they attend to ask orders! And the glasses are stinking!
On The Platter
One of the oldest and most popular places we suppose! When we tried the food here, we realized that this place is popular for a reason.
Their dosas and vadas are irresistible. Such nice preparation with such good quality is what we look for in a sophisticated place like this one. Being from North, their south Indian style of serving the sambhar, chutneys and aloo masala fascinated me a lot. I am really fond of their condiments. A must try place when in Hyderabad.
Bhavya
I ordered rawa dosa, masala dosa and idli along with coffee. The coffee was too sweet whereas the chutneys were so cold as if brought straight outtta fridge. I liked rawa dosa along all. Crowded during weekends...

The Massive South Indian Thalli

For all the south Indian food lovers out there!

The thalli consisting of - Poori, Rasam, Dal, Potato and peas curry, bhagara baigan, cabbage and potato dry curry, Yellow rice, Pickle, Appalam papad , Steamed rice, Curd, Karam podi and Metled Ghee

Well I do not write many bad reviews nor is this review any different. However, giving them a 3 star for a few not so customer friendly things I have noticed. This must be the Nth time I am visiting the himayat nagar branch, never had any complaints but off late the quantity has gone down and the prices have skyrocketed. Well if you are charging around 200 for a dosa with that kind of rush and sales numbers you ought to put some more effort. Ordered a plate of button idly and rava dosa. The chutney though tasted good..it was cold..like it was from the fridge. The Rava Dosa was small, probably half the size of what is usually served else where. Other than all this with a good business at hand and the kind of prices they have on their menu.. I really wish they could atleast add a few more chutneys. Anyway just a personal opinion. Oh and I forgot their paneer dishes I ordered on my last visit do taste good but for around Rs 330 a dish..I really expected a better quantity. Well, all in all still the best bet for veg food in and around Himayat Nagar.

Not only did the guys not even bother to apologise, they even started screaming in front of other customers. Pathetic service!

Minerva is famous for its south Indian cuisine.
Rava dosa was just perfect. It was crispy , crunchy and served with one small vati of potato masala.
Sada dosa came in a come shape. It was like regular dosa. Simple and good .
Idli was pipping hot and was served with kadampodi masala .
Podi masala is Minervas speciality. The best in hyderabad.
I also ordered fried rice to check the taste .. It tasted good but black pepper was added too generously. .
In all food experience at Minerva was good. Dosa n idli are super hit.
Bhupen Patel
Button idli is delicious. Pure ghee taste in sambar tantilizes your taste buds. A must try 👍

Minerva coffee shop has been one of my favourite place for its ambience, food taste and it’s service.
But today when I found a few strands of hair in the upma that i ordered, I decided not to go back to his place. Even when I complained to the steward, all that I get is a apology and no replacement also.
I would like to advice the management to make sure food is prepared in a hygiene manner without any additional hair as complements.
Goutham
I might have visited Minerva umpteen times never got disappointed even once. Quality of food is top- notch . Hands down best place for having some hot ghee idlies with karam podi and piping filter coffee.
Anand G
Good place for vegetarian food. Taste was good and staff was also polite and professional. Overall, value for money. Just one thing - I wanted to try North Indian Thali but, it is available only for dinner and not for lunch.
S J
I ordered veg biryani(very less veggies and the rice was also not tasty at all for the price so little disappointed )and veg spring roll (it was tasty).
Pratyusha
Overcrowded shows the craze towards the restaurant.Polite service and tasty food😊

Do visit it asap in the afternoon slots, heavy queue lasts for 20 MN wait and it’s worth the time and penny.

I believe 5 Star rating is just isn't enough for Minerva.I have been eating here since so long that I can't even remember and the taste is still the same.
The butter dosa and idli are exquisite. The best part is the butter. They serve fresh white butter which makes the dosa and idli taste even better.
Onion uttapa is served with Korma, chutney and sambhar.
The unlimited south Indian Thali is very appetizing and satisfying.
As the name implies Minerva is famous for its coffee. They also sell their coffee beans.
One must also try the masala tea.

Chandana Ravipudi
The breakfast here is decent.
If you choose to have mass style breakfast then this is not the place .
Dosas and Sambhar are excellent . Chole bature is appreciable as well .
Coming to the lunch course , their meals is a must try , also kulcha !
Have been eating at this place since past 20 years because i stay nearby 😄
Siddhi
The place that never disappoints with taste, staff, ambiance, cleanliness. Breakfast items available at all times, yummy sambar rice!! What you can do better is add some tomatoes and cucumbers in masala papad so that it’s not onion papad!

Had the shock of my life when out of the dosa I had ordered for my 5yr old child, crawled a full grown centipede... Minerva has been my fav south indian restaurant since i can remember, was very sad and disappointed. Although cant say i would stop it ban Minerva from my list coz I believe in second chances.

Horrible experience I had here .. I came to have breakfast today .. after asking for the bill the waiter threw the bill case on the table angrily ..when asked why he threw he went away saying things in telugu .. when asked to talk about this to the manager the waiter shouted again in telugu and asked to leave ..will not recommend this place to anyone ..the secunderabad branch is much better.. this place worst service ever..

The place is very cozy and the staffs are cordial. Food is also good. The coffee is amazing. They open at a very early hours, at around 6am in the morning.
Rinku
Crowded as always . But luckily it took less than one hour to get a table . Unfortunately we were 5 people and they only had 3 Thalis left so my fellow friends were little disappointed but a cool place .

Landed from dubai, and first thing was to come here and have an amazing south Indian breakfast. Idli vada is just amazing..and tea just awakens you up..
Major thumbs up

Easily the best masala dosa of the year! Minerva coffee shop is a true delight. The crispy dosa with dollops of white butter on it is something to die for. Never miss this if ever you get a chance to visit this place.
Harish Goutham
This is one good place to have breakfast around this neighbourhood.
Ambience is decent.
It’s crowded on weekends and they don’t accept reservations, so be prepared to wait on peak hours.
Tried Tomato soup, which was perfect.
Fb RavaDosa , Idli, MasalaDosa and they tasted good too.
And finally coffee here never disappoints me, I just love it.
Priyansh Saraf
Nice place nice food but a bit over rated
There is a long wait on weekend
Reservation is a must or else you will be stuck in a queue for a long period
Triveni Bansal
One of the oldest places to dine in Hyderabad. It has maintained its legacy and taste. Service is amazing. Great for corporate luncheons. Must try are South Indian delicacies like dosa, idli, vada. Not to miss is Rasam, Rawa dosa and South Indian Thali

Been there for lunch yesterday. After having food recieved a handwritten bill of 1397 and when asked for proper indetailed bill the actual bill amount is 1197.
When i asked for their manager's contact they didn't respond.
Worst service to be honest.
Saipriya Avineni
This place is heaven for south indian food lovers. Their south indian thali is to die for. If you are fed up with the usual pizza burger and miss your mom’s food, this is the place for you. Though the pricing is on the higher side, but after you manage to complete the thali, it’ll be of the complete worth. I visit this place whenever i crave for my comfort food i.e pappu rice and ghee.

One of the most Popular destination for Breakfast in and around Himayathnagar is Minerva Coffee shop. They have been a trendsetter and a benchmark in this area for good quality Breakfast and thalis. There were many restaurants that tried to match their quality but failed. One pioneer with lots of ques and waiting for this popular breakfast destination hands down is Minerva.

A little pricey on the pocket but excellent coffee,Tiffin's with assorted chutneys and gunpowder.... A must Visit place.

I've been visiting Minerva for about 20 years now, and this is easily my favourite restaurant in town. If you haven't been to here yet, you're missing out on the BEST sambar in the world. They serve the neatest, tastiest South Indian breakfast.
The food at Minerva is more of a feeling, and the place more like a home. ❤️

Went with my father to this place as always with great expectations. Ordered an idli and rava dosa which is the speciality of this place. Very disappointed to get cold food served in such a reputed restaurant.
Sai Sravan Kondaka
We went for Buffett at Himayat Nagar branch. Less varieties. None of the items we hot. Quality not upto the mark. Ac is not working. Had a pretty bad experience.
Avi
One of the old school pure veg Hyderabad restaurants. Been going here for as long as I can recall. The quality of food has always been top notch. The ambience is no fuss and family friendly. Try the idlis, dosas or pooris and finish off with some authentic coffee.. Truly heart warming food to have. Be prepared for a wait line if going for dinner on weekends.
Garima Nahata
This is one of the oldest family restaurant and the ambiance is simple and decent.

We had ordered veg manchow soup which was perfect in taste.
Then for the main course we ordered noodles and wet Manchurian which was also good In taste.

Overall , we had an amazing experience. Would love to visit the place again. Cheers !

Excellent place for South Indian snacks and food. Prompt service. Waiting time in peak hours. Worth the visit and wait. Very good idly, paper rosa and rava dosa. North Indian food decent. Chinese good.
Ricky
Nice place and ambience. Good taste and fast service. Perfect South Indian food joint. The joint has done justice to north Indian food as well.Parking is an issue during rush hour as restaurant in on the main road. Try filter coffee for sure.

This place is a very renowned place for so many years and what people say about this place is true. Its too good for the price and the food quality it provides. I love the Idli they serve here. It is too tasty and soft. Also the chutney and sambhar they provide here is perfectly blend with all the spices. The dosa is very tasty. Also the filter coffee is the perfect end to the south indian breakfast. It also is good for starters and snacks but I would suggest this for best south indian breakfast in Hyderabad.
Mounikagampa
This is one of the best place to have dosa. It just fills your tummy. Ambience is good and it is in the middle of the city. During weekends you can see this place crowded and it's been popular since long and been the same always.
Sunil Gentyala
Best place to have idly , South indian vegetarian thali and this is one of old restaurants in food and hospitality sector Hyderabad.

Just go without any expectations and good South indian meals and tiffins

These guys fight for giving extra sambar. Firstly for two big idlis they give literally 5 teaspoons worth sambar. And then they cry for giving more sambar. Absolutely disgusting behavior. Never seen this at places like chutneys or Taj mahal hotel.
Anusha
One of the best places for breakfast in the city. Being a regular visitor to this restaurant, I tried almost all the items on the breakfast menu. But itema on the my top list are guntur idly, poori and rava dosa. If you're a vegetarian and want to have a South Indian thali, this is a must try place for you. The restaurant is very busy almost all the time, sometimes you'll need to wait but the taste of the food will be worth the wait and never disappoint.
Adv Suresh Bhatia
Horrible the word I have to start with. Called it through swiggy. The Puri was hard , dosa was horrible for the price charged for and idly was dry.
The quality of this restaurant is going day by day.
Mehak Singh
Amazing food and service by the staff. Loved the masala dosa and filter coffee from my recent visit. The food is always fresh, wholesome and yummy!

Kamran Hussain Khan (Intensefoodcravingsblog)
Been a frequent visitor at this restaurant, and over the years have not been disappointed. All its offerings seems to be popular south indian dishes, all of it tastes great and is of good quality & all have their Signature Filter Coffee . it wont disappoint you . 😊
However cost is a bit expensive when compared to other south indian restaurants .
Over the weekends there would be a lot of rush, specially between 8pm to 9:30pm, so wait time can be high. Parking might be a problem on weekends, as the area is constantly patrolled by traffic policeman on weekend to control traffic. This place has a usual south indian kind of ambience..The service is quick and they take care of each and every need of their customers .

Food - 4/5
Service -5/5
Ambience -4/5
Value for money - 4/5
On a busy working day, went here to have a quick lunch , but the place seems overcrowded and had to wait a while to get a seat during lunch time..

But it is one of the best place to have meals in that area.. though found a bit crowded, it’s worth waiting.. we ordered meals , sambar idly, mla dosa .it’s a very good vegetarian place.. wecan find wide varieties of South Indian tiffins, North Indian and Chinese options are also available as well along with Hot beverages , ice creams and also fresh juices..
Totally a very good place to have vegetarian food with friends and family ..
Komala Reddy
This place disappointed me for the first time I ordered pesarattu & Masala dosa . it did not taste like pesarattu for the first time it was so dry it was just same like plain dosa in look wise .. but yeah Coffee its awesome .

A legendary place in the old part of city Himayat Nagar with heavy rush on weekends a place very easily spotted. After a good waiting time we got the table, for starters came the Veg Manchuria and Chilly Paneer, both were decent. For main course first thing was Idly, this place is meant for its soft idly and the white butter on top, the sambar is also delicious and a perfect balanced one. Then came the fried rice and dal makhani, the dal makhani was more like rajma and fried rice tasted like any other good hotel.

VFM: 5/5
Food: 4/5
Ambience: 3.5/5 (Too crowded on weekdays)
Rajeev Mangal
Very pooor quality of food, service and management attitude.. not expected this from such a reputed restaurant.. pls dont take customers for granted.
Pavankumar Tanniru
Worst place no proper management in allocating tables
Huge waiting time, if you are ok to stay in waiting standing for 45 mins rude staff and no proper planning
Vinay Goyal
Best restaurant for breakfast , very good taste , good service , good ambience , price are reasonable of all food items . Little bit car packing difficulty .
Shrish Deshpande
As suggested by Zomato, yes, had a great breakfast.
Idly was good, spongy. Wada, as it should be crisp & fresh inside.
All the chutneys were good.
Sambhar was a just below the mark.

Had filter 'Kaapi' afterwords,.
So-so. Okok.

The bill was lousy. ₹63+ taxes for such a kind of coffee was not justified.
Good ambience. Rushy & noisy too to cater hoards of sunday crowd.
Overall a good start of food trail in this city.
Shubhankar Daga
The worst place ever because you don't get anything which you ever want... Paper Dosa is not available half of the time thali is not served on time and it's prepared on the spot... People are waiting for 20 min outside the restaurant the staff is pathetic and ridiculous... The management should change..
Sindhu Valluri
Best place for South India food. Never go for anything other than South India. A very crowded place. This place has been there before I was born! The quality of they food they maintain is great. The Guntur Idly and Set Dosa are my personal favourites.
Raghuveer N
Try only south indian food. It's pretty great. The naans and curries are mediocre. Better not to order it. Veg Manchuria is good though. Staff etc is good and responsive. Decent waiting time.
Just_eating93
Cons - food served was cold
Lack of Hygiene - waiter hold the glass with fingers inside it . Which is huge turn off for me . I dint drink water whole time

South Indian thali - first tomato soup and papad is served as appetisers then the thali .
There is no limit for puri’s and rice served - that’s a plus point

Rava dosa - nice and crispy , but served cold

Butter masala dosa - was little soggy . I expected butter dosa to be a little crispy
Sandeep Anumula
What an amazing food !! Tummy full experience , went there for lunch , we ordered South Indian thali. Very hygiene, Good ambience, crowdy place, service was good. Total worth place for a perfect traditional lunch . Satsified with their quality and quantity .

Pretty well known place in himayatnagar. So I went there for a south Indian breakfast this morning and we ordered Vada and Butter masala Dosa and two cups of coffee.

The only flaw was, the coffee served went cold just in few mins ..

A cool place for regular meals. Good Ambience and the food offered was well cooked , tasty and moderately spiced.
Food- 3/5
Ambience- 3/5
Staff and service- 4/5
Value for money- 4/5

A good place for family lunch and dinner
Pocket friendly and comfortable 👍
