Review Gypsy Restaurant - Jodhpur

We tried both Rajasthani thali and multi cuisine restaurant offered at gypsy. Though it’s in a market area with wider roads, but due to traffic parking may be a bit tight. It may be normal to find a waiting here for 10-15 mins especially during weekends, but they offer amazing food variety and is definitely a must try, and you would want to come again definitely. Must try is the unlimited version of thali having 36 unique items and don’t miss that !

It was my first visit to Gypsy restaurant. Have heard many times about there Rajasthani thali and was eagerly waiting to try it. I have gone to their new outlet.I have tried Rajasthan thali, and it was just wow! Even the staff were also friendly.

Loved it. True traditional and local food. The Thali is incredible. 31 food choices! Staff walk around offering different courses regularly. Everything was amazing. I ate so much I could barely walk and it was only 500 rupees!

We wanted to try authentic rajasthani food and we were recommended by some fellow travellers that we should try gypsy. So, we ordered thali and they have a buffet-type system where they will keep serving all the dishes in the Thali one-by-one. We got to try a lot of dishes at once. The guy who was serving us helped us with the best combo of food items to try. Food was amazing and I must say I was really full until the next day.

Staff Behavior and Gestures Special and Up to the Mark: At the end of the meal, they gave me a sweet surprise – meetha paan and a red rose. I came to know about this place from youtube. If you are looking for an unlimited thali (marwari) then 1st floor is your place. Ambiance is good. Food quality is good. All over a good experience for us.

When in Rajasthan, eat like a Rajasthani. Gypsy is one of the best restaurants in the city of Jodhpur to eat a traditional Rajasthani Thali to your heart's content. I believe there are two segments for dining and the first floor is reserved for just thalis. Clean space, swift service, and delicious food is guaranteed at this restaurant. I wish I had taken more pictures but we got ourselves busy with eating as soon as our thalis were filled with scrumptious food.

Lovely Rajasthani food.. Their Dal Bati was very nice.. In their Thali came 1 dish - Kair Sangri.. Simply amazing.. The taste still lingers in my mouth.. What we didn’t like Gulab Jamun ki sanbzi.. It was prepared well.. But did not suit our taste

One of the best thalis I have eaten ill date by far across India. They claim and rightfully so to have 44 items on the thali with no repeats. Of course you can order as much as you want. But man, it all tastes so awesome. Go here after dieting for atleast the whole day or half a day and relish in this gastronomic delight. The piping hot rotla and chapati, the dhokla and other farsan items, the various vegetables. Delish. Worth a visit when you are in Jodhpur. Do try for sure.

I ordered tiffin for 6. Food was served stale. Food was stinking so bad that we couldn't eat rest of the food, even chapatis we're very chewi. Being one of the oldest and the finest restaurant we expect some quality.

Buffet thali just in name. You will have to ask them several times to refill a sabzi and even then they will put one spoonful only and then you will have to ask them again. 400 is way overpriced for this kind of service. They will never come to you to ask to refill any good sabzis but will come 100 times to offer khichdi and papad.

After hearing a lot about it I thought to try it. The thali looks good and most of items are tasty but they are costly. What I disliked was serving,they serve extremely less quantity of any item which is anyways fine but speed is too slow. By the time food comes stomach is already full. Overall it was an average experience.

Okay first things first, since I was a tourist in the city I wasn’t aware that the thali is served on first floor and other tid bits on the ground. It's as legendary as it gets! Reached for lunch and they were closing down but when I told them that I have came all the way from Agra, they welcomed us and made sure we didn't lose any of the Gypsy experience! I have had a thali almost a decade back and when I went back nothing has changed. Same taste and hospitality. Thali is so flavourful and filling that I couldn't eat dinner also. Must go to place if in Jodhpur.

I tried calling the delivery boy named Shri and his phone was constantly busy for 10-15 minutes after which he even cut my call. When contacted, he said that the order has been cancelled because he couldn't reach out through call and he couldn't even locate the address.<br/>I was standing outside my house for 15 minutes and was tracking his live location which was near my place.<br/>The employee did not make efforts to search for the place properly as it is a very easy location almost on the main road and was not even available on call when I tried to contact him. Tried reporting the issue through chat as well but there was no response.<br/>A bad first experience.

I was visiting Jodhpur for a week. Wanted to taste the local food. Gypsy thali was recommended to me by many of my local friends. So I decided to go for dinner.<br/><br/>The thali has 31 dishes. The food is tasty and hygenic. Most of the food is made in ghee. It has many local dishes like dal bati, churma ladoo, bajra roti, khichdi, kich(wheat and chana dal cooked together), gatte ki sabji, garlic tomato chutney etc. Its a must visit place if you are visiting Jodhpur and want to enjoy Rajasthani food. <br/><br/>The staff is cooperative. We were in jodhpur for a day and wanted to have a good experience with respect to Rajasthani food and that is when we landed up at Gypsy.The place has 2 outlets within a distance of 900 m ,however this is the main place which serves Rajasthani thali.The place has 2 floors and when we went there ,we were escorted to the floor upstairs as the ground floor was packed with customers.The service is prompt with the usual onslaught of people serving a variety of items.The thali is pretty comprehensive with 4 sabzis, dal baati , kadi , dhokla , shrikand Ras ,rotis and salads along with hot rotis laden with ghee.If you have an appetite,you can then continue to enjoy their special pulav ,khichdi ,gajar ka halwa and laddoo (also ladden with ghee) .The food is prepared well with a right mix of sweet, tangy and savoury items. All in all , a complete thali minus the chaas ( you need to order this separately) at a price of 349* rs. which is quite the steal. The place has managed to sustain inspite of the ever growing popularity of cafes serving multicuisine food. That was my first order from zomato and i orderes 3 lachha parantha with other currys but got delivered only one.quality of food what i got was good but real problem with custemer care of zomato. Great place for Indian Thali.<br/><br/>They have an enormous spread which includes all the local delicacies - gatta, dal bati churma, ker sangri, kheech, mawa kachori, Mirchi pakoda etc besides the traditional North Indian vegetables matar paneer, aloo bean, dal, kadhi.<br/><br/>The taste is nice though the food is slightly oily. The staff attitude is also great.<br/><br/>Overall a mist visit place for lunch if you wish to try the entire spread of Rajasthani food.

Today I was out of Jodhpur and my family demand for some outside food so I have ordered from Gypsy Dinning Hall as per my previous good experience with Gypsy But today my family suggest me not to order again from Gypsy. The reason behind that is the food quality was not as always expected from Gypsy the Paneer Veg contains only one piece of paneer, Aaloo Gobhi was also not good in taste and Mogar dal was worst the food was as good as to be served to patients. The whole food was smells bad also. Totally worst experience today.

For someone who is travelling to Jodhpur, this place is perfect for an introduction to Rajasthani cusine. With fixed items in an unlimited thali you can taste from dhokla, papad to kadi, kichdi, puri, roti, gatte ki sabzi to desserts like gajar ka halwa. Reasonably priced and a rather fulfilling experience.

Amazing spread in Thali with authentic Rajasthani items like Dal Batti and Ker Sangri. The highlight were the sweets, the moong badam halwa being out of the world. The place is crowded, plan for some waiters especially as this seems to be the go to place for all tourists.

If you want to have authentic rajasthani cuisine this is the place to go to. The food does't have that excessive spiciness and is more like homemade rajasthani food.<br/>What they serve in a thali: ker sangri, salad, 3 chutney, dhokla, dal baati, kadhi, gatte ki sabzi, 3 types of roti and rice, churma laddoo. Apart from these the vegetables and desserts keep changing everyday.<br/>Overall, it was a great experience for me. The food is light on your tummy as well as your pocket.

It is a full course meal but the best part is it is easily digestible..a thing missing when you binge on food :) Thali boasts of mixture of Rajasthani and Gujrati items however gujrati items.are limited to starters like Khaman, fafda etc and rest taste wise it is full on Rajasthani. Always comes with Dal Batti which is the best in town. Spices are normal so would be enjoyed by ppl of all age groups. So just go guys and give an awesome treat to your taste buds.<br/>Ps: This is on first floor and no lift so might be troublesome for elderly. In that case you can enjoy fast food at thier ground floor restaurant which is equally good in that segment.

If you wish to have traditional Rajasthani food, this is the place you should go to. The tali is served on the first floor. Food is amazing and is served in a cordial manner. Btw, try not to drink water...

Good Rajasthani thali and courteous staff. They give small servings to start with which helps in not wasting the food. The taste was better that the thali of chowki dhani

One place that is recommended for authentic Rajasthani meal. The place is popular amongst travelers and one must keep buffer time. The place gets crowded so it is advisable to go with little time on hand. Parking could be a challenge but can manage.

Love the idea of having thali and that too in the state where delicacies will overflow from your plate! <br/><br/>Gypsy is one of the gems of Jodhpur city! The fooood here is finger licking goood. And the ghee definitely doubles the taste of the food. The snacks, bajre ka khichada, kadi, gattey ki Sabji, its all amazing! <br/><br/>The thali is huge, it might not be possible for everyone to finish. So please go when you are starving badly and please avoid wasting food. <br/><br/>And they do MANVAAR 😬<br/><br/>Had a great time at gypsy! Would definitely visit again ✌🏻️<br/><br/>

The Gypsy Dining Hall is a different experience altogether. I will not go into choosing the best item on the menu. For me the taste of each of the items complemented the other, making it an extremely satisfying experience. Totally worth the 5 stars and an additional star for the service.

All I ever heard from my colleagues was that Gypsy Thali is a must try when in Jodhpur. So this time I thought I should give it a try and oooohhhh-maaaaaaiiii-gawwwwwd.It was amazing !! It tasted so f**king good. Starting from Dal baati to kair-sangri then bajre ki roti and shakkar then gate ki sabji to kaathi daal ...yummmmmmmm !! I had such a great time at this place enjoying food. Special mention to their lasun ki chutney and kadhi - out of the world. The thali looks so beautiful kept infront of view and the thought of it makes me crave for it . This place ruined my most important day of my life. Food was not bad rather I should say worst in my all visits and the behaviour of the staff wad also very rude. I asked food without onion and garlic but they served me pulao which was full of onions and after that instead of changing my thali they just asked me to remove that and take something else. The manager didn't even bother to say sorry.<br/>My suggestion to choose some other place to enjoy rajasthani food.

Had thali lunch today and found the food service and ambience excellent. All 31 preparations in the thali were delicious Would definitely visit again in this trip to jodhpur I was confused after reading reviews so discussed with the management .Mr Chadha explained that being an unlimited thali they don't allow sharing however a limited thali is available downstairs in there outlet which serves much more variety of snacks and meals there they don't mind if you share the other issue raised was packing of leftover food to which he said we don't take leftover food to the kitchen however we on extra charge do give a box in which you can pack the leftovers this facility is only on the ground floor outlet. So next time any body visits this restaurant choose were to go the ground floor or dining on first floor

Worst Place to visit. No quality, no Hospitality, no courtesy, Roudy, untrained, unmannered Waiters with all Cheater Rules & Regulations. Cheap and Cheater Management. Voice of Customer has no respect. Cheating Customer and looting is their Motive.

An awesome place to be. Perfect thali with soo many items. These guys are maintaining the same taste since the start and i can see there efforts. Food tastes perfect, great ambience, been there several times with family. The best part about Gypsy dining is the actions they use to call for different items. They don't shout or call each other for refilling your plate, instead they use symbols and actions thus maintaining perfect decorum, with great hospitality.

Great to dine with your family, indian cuisine is must recommend. Paneer malai tikka being my favourite along with other main courses. Decent chaats.

A must visit place for specially travellers who want to taste authentic Jodhpuri food. They serve a big thali; which is a perfect combination of sweet items, rice, lot of curries, lentils and Jodhpuri kadhi with dal-bati-churma apart from green salad. Khichdi and kheech should also be tried.

This is one of a kind place for everyone to try whoever is visiting Jodhpur Once. They have a thali concept which is basically a sit-down buffet. You will be served everything at your request.<br/>The food is really delicious with the majority of dishes being of the local Rajasthani cuisine and a few of them being specials. The service is Swift and the food is always piping hot. Kudos!
