Review Ambiswamy's - Kochi (Cochin)

Located near at Medical Trust Hospital, Pallimukku, Kochi, Ernakulam. Had traditional Veg Meals and Masala Dosa in Lunch. Taste was good 👍. Excellent vibes and neat & Clean restaurant. Enjoyed the traditional Kerala Veg Meals. First time I had The pineapple 🍍 sabzi and reddish kind of rice and it was really tasty. 💯 Recommended.

Spacious and beautiful ambiance near the heart of the city’pallimukku’. From breakfast to dinner, they serve delicious vegetarian dishes, mostly of local Kerala cuisine, at reasonable price. Service is prompt.

Ambiswamy’s in Kochi stands out as one of the best vegetarian restaurants, offering a variety of affordable options. Known for its prompt service and excellent location, it's a top choice for diners.

A good vegetarian hotel in city. Tried podi (dry chauteny powder) masala dosa & tea. A Kannadiga style masala dosa with dry chatuney powder sprinkled inside dosa. Enough seating available & parking is limited. Prepayment service, so you have to decide the dishes before getting to table, however add on orders are taken care of by bearers. Recommend vegetarian options.

One of the finest veg restaurants over the city in MG road. The food you receive over here is of top quality. The restaurant have a wide range of breakfast menu, including pongal, which is rare to find in kerala veg restaurants. The food quantity wise is less when comparing other restaurants, but food is really tasty. Serves all food hot. Overall neatness of the restaurant is of high standards. Especially the restrooms are kept very neat and tidy. Overall a very clean and tidy open restaurant. The restaurant also got parking in front for both 4 wheelers and 2 wheelers. The restaurant has kept a small banana garden amoung other plants on the short connection way from restaurant to restroom, which is really a very rare scenery to find in cities. Hatsoff to this good initiative and your tribute towards showcasing our tradition and a dying culture.

The food was very tasty and at a very affordable price. We had a buffet lunch there which was extremely good and the service was very good. Recommend.

Hate the fact that you've to pay and share a token before you eat but the food and ambience is so exquisite that I visit here whenever I'm in Ravipuram. Dosa, Coffee, poori and vada are the best
vineesh vinu
Vegetarian restaurant with spacious dining area and delicious vegetarian food. Parking available for 3-4 cars, security assistance is there for parking support. Toilets and washrooms are also available. Ghee roast is my favourite amongst their menu.
Vedang Shevade
Had Ghee Roast, Onion Uttapam, Banana Uttappam and Tomato Rice. Ghee roast was really good. Loved it. Both Uttapams were average. Nothing great about them. Found little uncooked from inside. Tamato Rice was fantastic and super tasty. It was just super in taste. A must try dish in Ambiswamy. Coconut Chutneys served with all items were stale and smelly. Management should taste the chutneys before serving. Keeping 2 stars with me for Uttapam and Chutney.

If you're a vegetarian, this hotel is a must-visit! The food is amazing and there's plenty of seating available, even during busy times. The only downside is that the seating is a bit uncomfortable - nothing too fancy, just normal chairs. Also, the prices are a bit steep, but in my opinion, it's worth it for the quality of the food.
Vivek Madikai
A pure Vegitarian Restaurant with Excellent service and food. This is located at MG Road of Eranakulam City, and unfortunately i reached here at a time of 9 pm and had a nice experience. They serve quality food neetly. Customers should take coupan first. Have to wait a litle time because it is very much crowded sometimes even at the late night. Overall i had a satisfiable experience from here.

Excellent service and good food. We will visit again

A typical kerela style chain of restaurants is ambiswamy's.<br/>A non AC food court with a prepaid service at the counter.<br/>They welcome you with a warm , kokum water .<br/>I tried<br/>Puttu - Grinded mixture of rice and coconut<br/><br/>Green peas masala - a semi gravy green peas sabzi to have with puttu<br/><br/>Masala dosa - usual masala dosa. Nothing special nothing bad<br/><br/>Onion uttapam - quiet extra large in size. Good quantity of onions sprinkled over.<br/><br/>Overall - 4/5<br/>Service - 3/5<br/>Worth. Of money - 5/5

We went there for a lunch while we were in the City looking for some good veg meals... The place is not the authentic ambiswamy's which you will find in Thrissur... Nevertheless, we found the place to be really good and the food was tasty

I went to their pallimukku outlet which is near to medical trust hospital. I tried their veg meal, porotta, paneer butter masala. Chilli paneer, dosa. Veg meal has so many dishes, good quality with prompt service. Paneer butter masala is sufficient for one person and it tastes actually like a northie restaurant. I didn't like the chilli paneer though. Overall nice experience. Will be visiting again!

It's an ideal place for lunch for vegetarians. The quality of food is really appreciable, the service is courteous, quick service available.<br/><br/>Chapathi with Kurma and Mint Lime has been my favourite combo for lunch.

Ambiswamy’s has been serving us with good food for a pretty long time. When i visited the outlet i had Ghee roast and tea, both was pretty good enough, i loved the Ghee roast it was pretty good and had a good quantity and the price was also not that high, with two chutneys and sambar it went perfect. The place has a wide range of Vegetarian food, everything is pretty good. Recommend to everyone

During my last trip to Kerala in mid-August, I visited Ambiswamy's vegetarian restaurant at least 4-5 times. The breakfast  – Ghee Roast, Rice Idlies, Puttu and Kadala, Thattu Dosa – was always good. I particularly liked the brown chutney which they served with dosa and idly.<br/>I also tried their chapathi and vegetable korma, biryani and sweet seera.<br/>A pocket-friendly place for vegetarians!

Went for lunch which is Rs.90. Kerala cuisine. Rice, aviyal, Thoran, Curd, Rasam & Payasam. After looking at this food joint at couple of places i was expecting a very tasty food. All items taste was very average like the meals served in the normal restaurant.<br/><br/>Ambience was good , meals served very quickly and instant refilling of the curry items whenever gets over.

A very good order and eat restaurant. Variety of South Indian tiffin items on the menu, both tamil and kerala cuisine. Utilitarian ambience and clean. Open kitchen and courteous staff. Unlimited refill of chutneys.

Meals not upto the standard, Thoran, Kuttu karikal all totally useless. Its not worth the money. Its clean, thats the only plus point I can give

Nice food. Cheap and filling dishes. Great snacks and always in demand. The busyness ensures good food throughout the day. Do give it a go for some evening fun

It's Vegalicious
This place is a heaven for all the vegans. Best masala dosa. I prefer to visit this restaurant whenever I go to pallimukku. Really clean and hygienic place. Friendly staff and a variety of food menu makes it more attractive.

Despite the bad food reviews of their new branch at edapally junction, wanted to go try the place first-hand. Found nothing special about the food but was appalled by their pathetic service and poor attitude of the staff. Its a shame that a prime location has been wasted on an establishment which wants to be nothing more than an average roadside eatery catering to a floating population.
Vijay Hoskoti
Good restaurant for having south Indian breakfast.<br/>Food tastes decent here. Situated in a good location on My G Road. there is a place infront of restaurant to park hence Parking is not a problem
Rashmi Menon
Had the worst experience here. I have been to many tiffin centres in my life. Not one took 1 hour to give dosa. Where we told the guy who was supposed to be the supervisor, he said what can I do about it. Extremely rude servers and supervisor. Never going there agin for sure.
Gokul Mohan Arakkal
The meals isn't all that great. The sambhar contains lots of Kayam. The Dosa seems to be just alright. The ambience seems it's like some random mess.
Vishnu Nandakumar
Heard about this restaurant from friends expectation was high. But all went in drain when I enter the restaurant. The attitude of cashier serving people ufff.. at least if the food was good I cod bear all these. I had meals (lunch) from there and it was bad. Not sure about other dishes. <br/><br/>Ambience 1.5/5<br/>Food quality 2.5/5<br/>Service 1.5/5<br/>Total 2.5/5

Good place :) next to Cochin hospital. Vegetarian foods and tasty snacks.. everything is good here. As it is next to the hospital, convenient for the ppl there too.. they give good fresh juices that can be had by patients too :) good

Went to this restaurant at around 8:30 in the morning. Was surprised to see it was open as every other place in the area was still shut. <br/>It works on a prepaid system. So you buy the token for the item you want and hand it over to the servers who'll then proceed to get your food. The food comes fairly quickly so not much waiting was involved. But if you ask any extra sambhar, chutney, etc. Waiting time is quite long.<br/>Coming to the food. Had the plain disable and idli. Since I'm from Chennai, I wasn't too impressed. It is below average at best. But there's not much options at this time of the morning. The Sambhar is quite poor. But the chutneys are very good. So your better off sticking to the chutneys.<br/>All in all, wouldn't recommend going here other than if it's early in the morning and no other place is open.

Food - meals/tomato rice / etc - 4/5<br/>Ambience - 3.5/5<br/>Billing staff - 2/5<br/>Serving staff - 4/5<br/><br/>A place to go for a quick fill anytime of the day if you are around this area. Not bad at all. Not sure why the rating is so low at 2.7 (may be for the attitude of staff).  But not worth a visit by searching and going there. The staff in billing counter behave as if they dont bother whether you eat there or not. I would like to just tell the management that, if that is the attitude, it wont really go down well the moment you have a good competition.
Sooraj Keshav
Nice vegetarian restaurant nearby city that's always crowded. They've some nice combinations like Puttu + Paneer Masala. Car parking could be an issue.

To Travellers:<br/>-------------------<br/>Nothing much Share about...<br/>"OK" Kinda food, to fill your stomach.... GO for Food to his place. It is nice place with medium priced items..<br/><br/>But.... If searching for TASTY Food, please avoid this place until they change the chef or management decides to prepare good tasty food ;)<br/> <br/><br/>After the 3 visits we had to this restaurant, This place was striked out from our wishlist... <br/>In future I might again visit this restaurant... Hope they SURPRISE ME & Family with some tasty food ;) <br/><br/>If anyone from HOTEL Management reads this message in ZOMATO:<br/>If you are from the hotel management…. My Request to you:<br/>--------------------------------------------------<br/><br/>1) Train your staff to be more polite ( lots of staff wander around doing nothing. they are free to do the service, they why force customers to do"SELF SERVICE”)<br/><br/>2) change your arrogant/impatient counter service people (it won’t do good to your customers)<br/><br/>3) Encourage your cooks to prepare tasty food times, before your staff tarnish the hotel name..<br/><br/>Best of Luck… Hope to visit again after some changes are made in your hotel … …..

Cheap and tasty option for all vegetarians. The place is quite clean and sells really tasty south Indian dishes too. The place is quite close to Medical trust hospital and ia crowded most of the time.
Indira Sasidharan
One of the best vegetarian restaurants. Food is homely and very tasty. Cheap hygenic food and quick service. Highly recommended for south indian food lovers. Puttu and kadala is very delicious at Ambiswamys.

A normal place which serves decent vegetarian food. Afternoon this place is a bit crowded. I like their crispy dosa. Decent meals they serve.Other than that nothing exceptional about this place.Pricing is decent.Sometimes one feels that the service could be much better.Well this place can improve leaps and bounds .
Rijas Selman Kareem
Pathetic eating experience. Money waste guaranteed.we need to prepay for any food and they will make us wait for long time to serve. Food is worthless and too tasteless.<br/><br/>A notice board is hung in the restaurant which shows how mean the management is...<br/>
Bhavya Venugopal
Just another veg restaurant with average food at affordable prices. The afternoon meals are good, the dosas & puris are sufficiently crispy and the chutneys also good. The best thing I've had is their chapathi set. I don't like the attitude of the woman sitting at the counter though, she is too rude and impatient all the time. I prefer their new outlet at Kadavanthra which is cleaner, serves better food and had better staff & service.
Rohan Sam Kuruvilla
Nothing to boast of its a very normal veg restaurant serving dosas idilis etc..<br/>Quite quick in service..impatient waiters..<br/>No ac room!<br/>Food-3/5<br/>Service-3/5<br/>Ambiemce2/5
Vinay Menon
Standard vegetarian restaurant. Nothing exceptional about the food but filling and worth the price. Service is prompt and waiters are friendly. Reception lady is a bit impatient when we bother her to place out order. Well placed and clean as well.
Akhil Vh
Good place to visit. I tasted masala dosa, which was served with thakkali chattni & normal white chutney along with sambar. Sambar lacked taste however the other chutneys were good. My friend told me that during evenings they will serve an additional chutney called Puthina chutney which is awesome. So guys & gals please take care to visit Ambiswami on evenings!!.
Dana Rahim
Ambiswamy's food is average and service is unfriendly. But I have rated it a 2.5 solely for its Chappathis and Chappathis alone. I love their Chappathis.
Jithin
One of the worst vegetarian restaurant i have come across in cochin. Their service is very very bad and so is their attitude towards customers. Its like they don't care about the customers at all. The restaurant lacks cleanliness too.
Adibia Nasir
Came here after having a craving for dosa and missing Bangalore dosas so much. Ordered 1 masala dosa and 1 oil less dosa. Both were nice with some yummy chutneys on the side. The oil less dosa was actually "oil less" absolutely no oil and super dry.
Malavika
To start with, it has token system. Service is really bad. Food not great. Overly priced. Bad ambience. Could do so much better with the food, ambience and service.
Indiyatrik
A strictly vegetarian no-frills restaurant, you get its complete picture in the first glance. It has a token system, which might not be liked by large families, but would be perfect for those on the go who do not want to waste time waiting for their order to be taken. The menu is therefore displayed large and clear on the wall, and despite that the largely Tamilian and North Indian staff are friendly and courteous enough to guide you if you are confused.<br/><br/>No particular ambiance to talk about as everything is very basic. However, the cleanliness and hygiene is very welcoming. The wash area is also pretty good and is well-maintained. <br/><br/>The pure vegetarian food is good and tasteful. We ordered Veg Meals Thali and Masala Dosa which were not disappointing at all.<br/><br/>Good place for those looking for a quick complete meal at minimal prices and not bothered about the ambiance.
Vishnu Sasidharan
First choice of restaurant for patients and inmates for cochin hospital, so they wont go out of business for sure. Don't take in wrong sense, ofcourse it is a good restaurant but I visited here the first time when I was discharged from the same hospital. A simple hotel with not so great ambiance bit serves good food but not mouth watering. Nothing special here to try for but a normal price tags on food can fill up your tummy with vegetarian foods.
Jeet Ranjith Pillai
A Simple reasonably economical Vegetarian Restaurant. Best place to try Dosas and authentic Traditional Kerala Meals. I really appreciate the hygiene and service.
Ravi Kiran
I have visited this restaurant several times right from my teenage till now. The best place in ernakulam for dosas and vadas. One of the best pure veg restaurants in cochin.
Ashley Sony
A veg resto near medical trust hospital..Once a usual visitor..luv ghee roast, onion uthappam, uzhunnu vada, coffee...rates are very normal...service is quick n fast..
Sangita
This place is decent nothing fancy and same goes for food too. The food I simply nothing great. Have been there many times but not great fan of this place always been there whn I was low on money.<br/>GO THERE IF u low on cash.
Navneet Vallat
Though it doesn't have the jaw dropping expansive menu of Pai Dosa, Ambiswamy's is a decent simple south indian vegetarian joint that is pretty well known around Kochi. You'll only get the limited , basic variety of dosas but whatever you get will be excellent - no doubt! In the evenings you'll also get some very "south indianised" north indian cuisine too - true they don't make paneer butter masala the way its made in the north, but still, it does taste very good. An apt place for a simple, light eve snack if you are in the MG road, pallimukk or ravipuram area.
The Food Guy
Ambiswamy's Dosa rings a bell for every Kochite who has been there for a while. Located near Pallimukku junction, these guys have been in the business for a very long time and sure know it well. Not a place known for their ambiance, ambiswamy is a quick eat place.<br/><br/>They have a whole range of fast food including chapathi, poori, vada, oothappam, idly, biriyani, etc. But true to their name the best you can eat from here is Dosa. Plain, masala, onion, rava or paper all are cripsy, tasty and finger licking yummy. Being someone who likes to eat a lot, paper is what I stick to mostly. Its long and filling. Masala/plain is a great option who love a smaller version of dosa. I have tried their chapathi, poori and porota as well. They are all mostly good. Only on one occasion was the poori too oily to eat. But this was 1 in probably 20 visits.<br/><br/>Definitely easy on your pockets, Ambiswamy is nice place for a quick breakfast or snack or a light dinner. Try it once to taste their magical dosas.
