Review Hotel Colombo - Kochi (Cochin)

I had dinner from this restaurant. I ordered Beef Biryani. The taste was okay but felt like the quantity of the meat and the masala is very less compared to the other restaurants. The restaurant is good for a quick bite.i would recommend a makeover for this restaurant. Overall a good restaurant with potential for improvement.

The place is easily accessible from the main road. It boasts a rich history (est: 1952). But the restaurant could do an good makeover to be at par with the current day and age. The food was surprisingly delicious. Had a beef kothu porotta. The beef was well cooked and soft and the porotta fresh, with generous proportion of egg too. The price is quite a bargain as well. But the place was a bit empty when i visited. I guess they can vamp up their reach and sales with a makeover and relaunch, coz they really do have the potential to be a real resto cafe(far better one at it than all the fake ones popping up these days of course). But if they decide just to bask in their glory days then their future situation will be like the present condition of Colombo (pun intended 😂).

One of my favorite biriyani spot in the city. They also serve a black tea with the biriyani. Appam and beef roast are also tasty. It is one of the oldest hotel in the city.

Basic local place service good food. I had beef roast and parotha on my first day in kochi, it was good, beef was soft and parotha was well made.

It looks clean and food seems fresh, the place which the restaurant is located is named after the restaurant itself. Also it claims to be the first restaurant in kochi and opened in 1958.

One of the oldest eateries in Ernakulam. It's on the road opposite to the Ernakulam Boat jetty. Close to GH also & many other iconic places. Nice food. Good taste. You get to see the photos of old Ernakulam at this place. Superb as always.

I was overwhelmed to know about the existence of such a combo as I had tasted only the plain Kothu Porotta before. However, Hotel Colombo serves Paneer Kothu Porotta with many paneer pieces cut fine enough to camouflage with the Kothu Porotta. The food that we got today was sum old rice and there was s fungus like things on top of the food. Had to throw the food out. Usually their food is gr8 but today it was bad

Just got food packed from there via zomato delivery. The food is pretty decent. Ordered biriyani and porotta with paneer and veg shahi kurma. Some srilankan dishes to the existing delicacy would have done justice to the name😂<br/>Anyways just go in with an open mind and yummy and help yourselves. Some good deals are available on the internet and with competitor food ordering services 😉 which you can scour too.

Hygiene is poor and the servers do not really speak Malayalam. The food is of average taste and the lack of quality is felt. The prices are moderate.

I had the most worst experience by ordering food from this hotel. They spoiled my day on this order. I made an order of 3 ghee rice n 2 beef masala. But they delivered only 1 rice and curry. I tried calling them back to talk about the experience i had but the hotel guy was so bad response and he said he can't do anything about it if i want i can come to hotel and get the food, if that's what i wanted then why the hell i should use zomato wasted my time and money by online payment. The delivery boy told that he asked the hotel about order because the pack was small but the hotel guy assured him that the order is right and everything is inside the pack. So guys please don't get cheated by this hotel i strongly believe that this hotel guy play an ugly role in what happened for me. I would never buy anything from them anymore

Ordered for Puttu fish curry n mango milkshake , t was good. Half of the milk shake was spilled out n tastes like mixed fruit bt it was ok. Please improve the packing of juice n milkshakes.

Beaf kottu porotta is just ok...I had to fish out for any piece of beaf bite in the dish but could not find out any piece.It is just two three potottas sliced and garnished with beaf gravy...not worth even for the combo offer price...not satisfied.

Had explicitly asked the restaurant not to add eggs because of severe allergy but they still did. Besides this, the food was average

Ordered their beef kottala through swiggy. It was superb.. the beef was juicy and had scrambled eggs mixed with the beef which was a first experience for me.. it tasted superb

Combo pack was good, but worst experience of Dragon chicken. Chicken piece full of bones and fats. I have had dragon chicken in most of restaurants in ernakulam... All are serving boneless chicken.

The place has a brief history due to which the adjacent junction got its name. The standard of the food served doesn't match it overrated name and the taste doesn't even come near to be called ok.Those who wants a touch of history may visit the place but don't have any high expectations...

Have heard a lot about the legendary chilly beef aka bdf available here and decided to try it out. I was not at all disappointed. Finally found a place where they serve bdf upto the expectation levels. The porotta available here is equivalent to 2 normal porotta.<br/>If anyone want to go to a budget friendly restaurant in Kochi, this is the place.<br/>Food rating: 4/5<br/>Value for money: 4/5<br/>Overall: 4/5<br/>

the only place in ekm 2 get de best briyani better and most hotels in ekm (kayees)and best know for its nite food beef dry fry and poratha and also beef roast and fried rice and ambiance of the place is good and the service r good good 4 family and kids

Had bdf, porotta and chilli beef... The bdf was average.. Porotta was good too... But the chilli beef was a big disappointment. It let down the whole meal. The gravy which was served with the bdf wasn't something to be proud of as well.

A budget restaurant in Kochi. I have been here once. The BDF here is a must try. Very crispy one and I liked it. Recommended this place for those who looking budget options.

I've been a regular customer of this restaurant for almost a year now, mostly because the proprietors are decent people, and the food is good. The Biryani is a little scant for the price, but is not as bad as most others. The breakfast menu is also good.<br/>But you can never enjoy any of that because the service is quite simply the absolute worst of any restaurant I have ever been to. The servers are at best nonchalant, completely unaware of basic etiquette, like providing and refilling water, making sure the customer is satisfied with the order and replenishing the plates with food. The menu appears varied, but in reality most of the items are simply unavailable most of the time. <br/>If you're willing to be bored and ignored for average food, then go ahead and visit this little place.

Had Chicken Biryani.They are charging 130Rs for it. Quantity of biryani rice was fair enough and I got 3 pieces of Chicken as well. But when compared to the Chicken Biryanis which I had from near by hotel(especially Hotel Swadeshi) taste is not good.

The food isn't reaĺly that good. It is low cost and I'd have the noodles if I had to eat from here again. The fried rice used to taste ok but it didn't taste that good the last time that I had it.

This is Sundeep from தமிழ்நாடு (Tamilnadu), my trip to Ernakulam/Kochi is incomplete without treating myself @ the famous Colombo Hotel, A must east hotel, you cannot find a single fault. Regarding taste whether it is normal Appam with Kadala curry or Tomato curry, or non-veg they are the king for sure. <br/><br/>Owner Nizam is a cool guy. :)<br/>

If u r near by boat jetty and if u want some mouthwatering malabar thalassery biriyani come here... Had chicken biriyani it was awesome authentic malabar biriyani was really good had a real taste of thalassery.....
