Great ambience. Sanitized plates given which were sealed. Dal bukhara - No words can describe this. Chicken malai kabab was juicy and yum. Sikandari Raan - soft lamb and right mix of spices. Great overall experience.
Being a foodie u always have to be choosy...
(Quite rhyming )
Peshwari will indeed make u feel like one of the navratnas from the mughalai darbar...
Such a brilliance in north indian cuisine with equally breathtaking inside decor all your bucks will worth spending
Valentine's night dinner happened to be at ITC Sonar: Peshawari.
Have tried their Bespoke: 2 non veg option which was adorned by:
Murgh Malai Kabab
Seekh Kabab
Tandoori Fish
Tandoori Aloo
Tandoori Phool
Paneer Tikka
Murgh Khurchan
Daal Bukhara
Array of Indian bread( I opted for butter naan)
Raita
Desserts included firni, rasmalai, gulab jamun and kulfi.Again I opted for rasmalai and firni as my stomach went into a tussle with my tounge 🤪
All these and for the experience pp is : Rs2750 plus 18% GST.
Trust me ITC has never let me down...halfway through the starter only and I was gasping...quantity is very good.Though its refillable but you won't ask for more.Top quality and taste goes hand in hand in ITC and it happend here as well.Hospitality was on point.I will recommend the Daal Bukhara...It reminded me of that I tried in Sonargaon of Taj Bengal...Daal Sonargaon...Finger licking Good!! To savour the food in true sense use your fingers...as it was requested by the person who was serving me last night and I followed the same...And the rest was an awesome Valentine's dinner
There's a reason this is the finest in the category of Fine Dines.
The dal bukhara is simmered and slow cooked overnight and is un arguably the finest dal preparations you can ever find.
The Sikandari raan is so well done, you can tear it apart with a single finger.
Service and ambience is taken straight out of the books, it is that good.
Loved the non veg kabab platter
Best peswari food is available here
The perfect place for a wonderful celebration !!
Had dinner few days back. the Indian food served there is just mouth watering esp the kebabs. We had Murgh Malai Kebab, Dal Bukhara, Butter Naan, Murgh Makhni. We were asked to eat using our fingers and that was a great idea. The ambience was very good-serving with a lot of warmth and smile. Seating was though not much comfortable as the stools with cushions were not at all comfortable.

And my #birthday celebrations ended on a high #yesterday night with an epic dinner with family at Peshawri..
Enjoyed #SamundariKhazana - that #lobster & the #daal was to die for alongwith those delicious #muttonkababs.. The service again was impeccable to say the least.. Couldn't have wished for a better end to an amazing birthday.. ❤️😍
Thank you ITC Sonar, Kolkata, A Luxury Collection Hotel for that delicious birthday cake - you guys made it truly special..
P.S: Thank you all for supporting Kolkata Food Trotters (Facebook & Instagram) always.. ❤️🙏
This is the best North Indian restaurant that I have visited till date. It was my birthday. The ambience and decor is sophisticated and classy. The music is soothing. They have a limited menu but I think that is enough to choose from. The food quality and taste is extremely good and the quantity they serve is more than enough for two people. I had ordered for their famous Dal bukhara, Onion kulcha, Bharwan paratha, Murgh Kurchan and Murgh malai kabab. All the dishes were commendable and delicious. At the end they surprised me with a complimentary chocolate mousse cake which was sinfully irresistible. I am extremely satisfied with their service and courtesy. ITC Sonar had actually made my day! A must-visit for all food lovers!
The restaurant is cosy. and has great interior. When it comes to food it has a limited set of menu. We ordered dal makhni, paneer butter masala , pudina and lacha paratha. Taste and quantity of food both were good. Specially dal, one of the best in town. It's a must have there. We ordered few mocktai but none of it tastes really well. Staff is really good. One of thing I want to mention is that they don't provide spoon here. Yes u have eat with hands only.
We visited this beautiful place on my 21st Birthday. Like every year my, ultimate wish was to have delicious food. And this time, we opted for north Indian and tandoor. Can, safely say that this place will not disappoint you.
Right from the soothing ambience being set out through metallic artefacts placed, wooden thread partitions, stools for seating and rugs on the walls, earthen crockery and brass glasses; this place is all about class. And, probably this is what you expect from a 5 star, restaurant.
Coming to the food part, we had -
▪️ Watermelon Fruit Juice.
▪️ Mocktail.
▪️Vegetable Raita.
▪️Fish Tikka Kebab.
▪️Chicken Malai Kebab.
▪️Galauti Kebab.
▪️Dal Bukhara.
▪️Butter Naan.
▪️Laacha Parantha.
▪️Kulfi Faluda.
The food was so mouthwatering, and all of them carry the generous flavour of desi ghee or butter. They don't serve anything in rice, but their scrumptious kebabs, paranthas, Naans are not less than an ultimate treat. All of these dishes were just heavenly to me. And, in dessert we took, their hand made Kulfi Faluda, which is divine. If you're a sweet tooth, you'll probably take that again.
The staffs were really cooperative. Felt, like we are having lunch in our own house. They helped us, guided us to choose the best food. I haven't seen such polite and courteous staff anywhere, till date. Brownie points for that!
Thank you so much for making my special day, more special. Good food, truly makes someone the happiest human being alive. ❤️
(Also, happily ticking off this place from my wish list too.)
Happy Dine In!
One of the best fine dining restaurants in town. They intricately look into the guest's need. Everything about the place is great. I loved the peshawri kebab and their signature dish daal bukhara. The staff is extremely courteous. You should come here for the peshawri experience.
Best restaurant I have ever been to...
Food was delicious especially the dal bukhara and some aloo ke kebabs(sorry,I dnt remember the name)...
Service was 1st class...
Even the cutlery was beautiful...
Ambiance was great...
Nd the best thing was that you were literally TOLD to eat by hands for complete satisfaction..
Absolutely elegance...one of the best restaurant...I loved the ambience.... The staffs are very friendly nd helpful.... Coming to the food it serves the best North Indian food in Kolkata... was there for celebrating my birthday......
Overall nice food and nice experience. The so called india famous Daal is definitely over priced 😊
An all time favourite! The food can simply never go wrong. One never had to be doubtful about the food on the table. “Chokh bondho kore bhorsha kora jaye!” :D
ITC don't need any introduction.
The dishes are yummy and I loved the ambience and the staffs are so kind and helpful.
Having Wine made it more special.
Peshwari has always been one of the best resturants which has highly impressed me. Talking of the ambience, it gives a complete Indian feel and ambience is very elegant. The quality of food served is top notch and is extremely tasty and worth for the money. There 'no cutlery' concept is a great initiative. The service is also very prompt and the staff are very courteous.
A friend recommended and i will thank him for his input. Excellent food and service, truly a five star experience. Dal Bukhara was out of this world. Would recommend to anybody who wants a taste of north western food.
As the name suggests. Peshawari. Authentic cuisine with loads of flavours, tons of courtesy and an experience that will want you to come back again. The ambience is good, although i felt the seating were not that comfortable. I had ordered a set dinner in which i had tried most of the items available on the menu. Although it was a bit pricey but it had the tag of a 5 star restaurant. The 24 hours boiled dal makhani is a must try.
Overall: 5/5
Food: 5/5
Courtesy : 5/5
Ambience : 5/5
Value for money : 4/5
Went for a weekend family dinner, it serves the best north indian cuisine in Kolkata. We loved the vegetarian kebab platter. For Main course we ordered the dal bukhara and butter roti. It is my personal favorite go to place. Ambience beautiful, and service is very good.

Authentic north Westin cuisine food. The kebabs are out of the world, especially the lamb one. The famous dal bukhara is dsmn good which is cooked for 18 hours. The kulfi was the best among desserts. The best thing was that they don't put cutlery on the table because they think these foods are most enjoyed with fingers.
So, my family and in-laws went to Peshwari to celebrate a career milestone. It was the first time my parents and in-laws visited a fine dining place, so I had to assure the best was in place. And so it was- mouth smacking juicy kebabs, awesome mocktails and gentle well-mannered staff. And the topping on the dessert was a delicious chocolate cake- on the house! We will remember the hospitality until death do us apart. Thank you, Team ITC
So we went for a family dinner and decided to go to Peshawri.
We had fish Tikka, chicken kebab, murgh khurchan, butter Naan, lime soda, Rasmalai and firni.
What I loved ?
Butter Naan : this is something out of the world. Must be sounding weird I guess. BUT trust me there butter Nan is out of the world.
Fish Tikka: The Fish was superbly cooked and grilled. Never ever had such an amazing experience with a fish dish.
Rasmalai: It's heaven. That's all I can say.
They don't serve rice. And as tradition say, you have to eat with your hand 😉
Amazing service and ambience gives you total Peshawri feels.
It is a place where i was longing to go for a long time and finally made the attempt with my family it is a heavenly place for kebabs and the price is worth with the quality.
We had:
Fish tikka kebab(₹1350)
Raan kebab(₹1350)
Murg makhani(₹1350)
Butter and onion bread(₹220each)
Sweet and salt soda(₹175)
Kulfi(₹600)
And really a special thanks to Ms.Dipannita for her assistance and friendly behaviour as it was our first visit...loved the place...will visit again❤️
Loved the food at Peshawari !!! It was super amazing.
Do try the Pudina naan and their special Peshawari daal ! They are to die for. The portions are good, the service is nice too. The staff was courteous and friendly, and the ambience was lovely!
They don't provide spoons which might be uncomfortable for some people but all in all, a good place to dine out!
Amazing amazing amazing!
This is a famous chain in all ITC hotels and the food is amazing.
They have a small selection of food, but everything is perfected.
Please have the Dal bukhara.. totally worth it!
Anything I write about Peshawari will not do justice to the food there. Their dal Bukhara has no competition.
Pro tip - they have an amazing single diner’s menu which can get you all the variety at a fraction of the cost of what you’d otherwise order
ITC always tops the charts when it comes to their food and service. On this particular occasion, they didn't disappoint either. The only uncomfortable part of our whole experience was the seating arrangement. They claim that eating at Peshawri is the experience of eating in a cave, but when one pays for fine dining, one expects fine dining, which in this case didn't match up as far as the seating arrangements were concerned.
Coming to the food, we ordered their much recommended dal bukhara (which I can vouch for as the best dal I've ever had), an assortment of veg and non veg kebabs. The murgh malai kebab had a distinctive taste and is highly recommended. As for the dessert, we tried everything on the menu except the firni and it was all yumm. The subtle fragrance of the rasmalai and the gulab jamun were clear winners.
Awesome experience.. courteous staff...tasty food❤️... Ordered Dal Bukhara..tandoori naan..butter naan... Peshawri kebab...rasmalai...firni...Was there for celebrating birthday...
Tried their food after a lot of friends told me about their food. The kebabs were really tasty but were a bit dry. The naan was soft and tender. Have to say that the dal bukhara is one of the best dals i have eaten in my life! The service was also really good(its expected for the prices we’re paying)! Overall a good experience.
@mazing food !!! Soothing @mbience
Must try Tandoori Jhinga
Best Kaali Daal you will ever get on your platter with Ajwain Roti ...
If you still have some space in your tummy go for Mutton Burra Kebab !!!
Mocktails are equally wow 😍
Visited this place on Jan 6 and was served by Krishanu who is a seasoned and well mannered person manning this beautiful restaurant, Peshawari at ITC Sonar, Kolkata. Food suggestions made by Krishanu was fantastic and was liked by everyone on the table. Would definitely return for another memorable experience at Peshawari.
ITC is always bang on with food, I was a regular at Peshawari in ITC Maratha, Bombay and when I went to Sonar I expected the same. I love the fact that they are trying to keep the tradition alive and don’t let you take a spoon or knife to eat. I have tasted their specialty the Raan which is absolutely melt in the mouth meat with khasta roti and would recommend the same for the uninitiated.
An amazing experience we had when we visited this place. The restaurant in ITC Sonar Bangla actually follows the Peshawari tradition in its decor, food, theme & serving style. We visited with our family of 8 members. It was a Sunday evening, so there was quite a rush, thankfully we had chose a pre-booking.
Thumbs Up:
a) The decor, the Peshawari theme and tradition was really a treat. They don't have cutlery on table, you have to use hands to eat, so that's another tradition maintained. We all enjoyed it.
b) We visited the place to celebrate our parents' anniversary, on the eve of special occasion Peshwari gave us a Chocolate Mousse Cake, it was delicious and unexpected.. Thank for the surprise.
c) We ordered the famous dishes here, Kadak Seekh Kebab, Naan Bukhara ( the family naan, recommended for 7-8 people) , Dal Bukhara, Murg Khurchan, fresh lime soda, rasmalai and phirni. Food taste was too delicious.
Papad on the table with onion salad, mouth fresheners such as Saunf, sada paan n meetha paan were complimentary.
d) Staffs were very courteous. All of them were in pathani outfit, that was really different to match up with the theme.
e) The the crockeries were mostly of Chinaware and Copper.
Thumbs Down:
Food Quantity was not up to the mark, it was too less, except Naan Bukhara.
Overall an ecstatic place for special celebration and dine out.
Wanted to have a quick bite for lunch. Just ordered one Dal Bukhara and a butter naan and rumali roti.
The Dal was tasty, however I'm not sure if a Dal Bukhara should have a burnt flavour. It was missing.
The Gulab Jamun was just yummy.
Staff very courteous and helpful.
This is my safe fall back option.. my favourite daal and naan place!! The service and the hospitality was, as always perfect.. the icing on the cake is the desert.. absolutely treasure going to This place
The kebabs were good. Mutton boti kebab was excellent . Chicken malai kebab could have been better. Dal Burkhara was very good but I did not think personally it was worth the hype - maybe it was just a bad day... Overall pretty good but nothing extravagant - that is entirely my personal experience
What can I say about this place?
Ambience – 1 of the best in business!
Service and hospitality– 1 of the best in business!
Food – 1 of the best in business!
Pocket pinch – 1 of the highest in the business – but still justified!
Went for a family dinner and was indeed mesmerized by the ambience of this place – it resembles more of a Sheikh’s palace – you indeed feel as if you have walked into Peshawar, a province of Pakistan.
They have a pretty small menu – which I believe is unchanged since inception. We ordered veg paneer tikka, bharwan paneer as well as tandoori Shimla mirch for starters, the shimla mirch was way below expectations – whereas both the paneer dishes rocked. The paneer tikka was duly marinated in a creamy ajwain, gram, flour and yellow chilli batter, skewered and char grilled!
The tandoori Shimla mirch was stuffed with French beans, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower and cashew nuts and was roasted on a special skewer.
As a custom, they don’t provide any cutlery and you are expected to eat off with your hands – which is great, since you can relish the food with your hands more!
For mains, we had their signature dal Bukhara – black lentils, garlic and tomatoes cooked and boiled for hours and hours on a continuous basis on coal – mind it! Tastewise it would rate it a maximum 4 on 5 though!
The paneer makhni was red gravy based – prepared obviously in tomato as well as dry fruits gravy! Naan peshawari – The highlight of the day – Beware – you dare not order this unless you have 7 – 8 diners on table – this is the regular naan prepared in the most sophisticated manner – a heart shaped naan which is as big as a person! See it to believe it!
Papads and sliced onions are served complimentary – which go very well with the above cuisines!
After devouring the entire naan, we were completely exhausted and had no room for desserts. However, they served a complimentary cake – much to our pleasant surprise – which was the show stopper – perhaps, the best cake of my life!
Quantity as well as quality is outstanding and service is impeccable – a thumbs up to the management of this place for maintaining such high standards in the hospitality industry!
Excellent Hospitality and food . Had an amazing experience altogether . Kebabs are too good , ambience is fantastic . Waiting to visit again soon. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wonderful experience. Great Food and Prompt Service.
Please start providing cuttlery, atleast for the starters.
Dal Bukhara had been on my wishlist for a while. Wasn't as great as I had dreamt it up to be.
The food was awesome. Will definitely go there again and again. One downfall siting. Otherwise food was good.
Staff was were helpful and friendly.
What an amazing Subz Seekh. I am speechless. Even the quantity was good. As expected, Dal Bukhara was good. Ambience was super and staff was nice. Must go to place 👌
I am a frequent visitor to this place and food here is exceptionally good. I visited peshawari yesterday with my parents. Ambience here is really good accompanied with soft instrumental music. Coming to the food items i ordered here.
1. Fish Tikka - big cubes of fish well cooked moderately spicy. Should be tried.
2. Murgh makhni - chicken cubes well cooked and is a good side dish with naan.
3. Burrah kebab - This is a lamb preparation and iy is a nust try. I believe it is one of the best preparations among all.
4. Dal bukhara - It is a relishing dish and i recommend everyone to try it once.

Good ambience, food quality is good. They are maintaining good hygiene and cleanliness. Staffs are so polite and friendly. As a staff I recommend Abhishek. It is a very authentic restro. It is for those people who love to taste various kebab.
One of my favourite buffet spots of Kolkata which comes with sophistication and quality. If you are a foodie then you must try this place once and I can bet this won't let you down.
Delicious naan and Dal Bukhara..5*...raan was very nice but not the best I have had 4*... service was slow... and had to ask repeatedly...staff was warm and courteous however the restaurant needs better staffing at least on Sunday afternoons...3*.. overall 4*
Came here after a long time. Really good food and ambience. Dal bukhara and their signature kebabs are a must try. A must visit whenever in Calcutta.
Had a really great experience and time at peshawari and Abhishek took very good care of us. The food was really light fresh and good........
We visited the peshawri in itc sonar bangla for lunch on Sunday. The place is well decorated in the basement area with middle eastern backdrop. We ordered for tandoori aloo & raan sikandari in starters . Both of which were beautifully prepared. The tandoori aloo was full of flavours and the raan sikandari was so tender and succulent. We ordered the famous daal bukhara for the main course along with paneer makhani and murgh khurchan . The daal and chicken were nicely prepared but the paneer makhani was a bit tangy which they corrected on requesting. The roasted papad , coriander chutney and freshly cut onion rings were served complimentary. They served a chocolate mousse cake for birthday greetings which was light as cotton and it melted in the mouth .
The ambience is great and the food is really delicious. The staff specially shantanu, krishanu and adam were very helpful. The decoration has a very good appeal to it giving indian touch. I like there rule of eating the traditional way that is with the hands.
Shantanu, Krishanu and Abhishek along with chef Ravi had been very courteous and made our evening worth a visit and a memorable one. Thank you peshwari team
Awesome food and delightful service! After a day's hectic work, caught up with a friend at Peshawri, had a very relaxing experience. Was attended to by Krishanu - he gave the perfect suggestion 👍
Enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Peshawri, ITC. Amazing food, phenomenal personalized service. Food was cooked to perfection. This fine dine in restaurant offers some of the most delectable Mughlai cuisines with succulent kebabs, Naans, desserts and drinks. We had gulped down some of the most soft and tender mutton and fish kebabs along with tandoori. Each and every dish here has the perfect blend of spices given to it while every kind of meat is given time to be cooked properly before being served.
Have been here before and this place never disappoints me. Sarthaki, Krishanu and Shantanu were really helpful. The food was amazing, as always.
Great place n food portion is quite good.. two people cannot finish d quantity served!great ambience n hospitality..staff is polite n courteous
Always a delight to come here for luxury dine-in! Nothing more, nothing less! Keep up the consistency, and great service provided to its loyal customers!
Hey foodies,
If you guys love spicy North Indian food then this is the place you must give it a try. You will get a hint of Peshwa, here. The ambience is very sober and classy. The staffs were courteous and humble. They will help you out with the menu and also if you want to take pictures 😋 [ now, this is very sweet of them].
The night when we visited #peshawri , it was my #birthdaynight . My friend arranged one cake from #mrsmagpie, but they told us that they will provide one complimentary birthday cake 🎂 Honestly the cake was very delicious.
Now, about what we ordered 👉🏼
1. Murgh Malai Kabab - it was soft and mouthwatering.
2.Butter Naan - one is sufficient for two but we ordered two.
3. Murgh Makhni - perfect and delicious. The chicken was soft and the gravy was thick in consistency with malai on the top.
4. Mocktail - forgot the name.
5. Papad and Paan was also complimentary just like the birthday cake. The meetha paan was nice.
Overall very fabulous experience and going to visit again.
Thanks #Peshawri for the birthday cake. 😊
There is nothing more to say about ITC. They alwz maintain their class in every section including decor, way of serving, behv of the stffs and ovsly the taste of foods.espcly Mutton item was just awsm. I hv also vistd itc sonar several times for diffrnt confrnc and there also the buffets were just amzng.
Excellent food and service, 1⭐️ less only coz they wont show you the fixed food menu card till asked for,the menu card shown on Zomato app wont be given to you instead only alacarte menu!! Anyways the Raan and Dal Bukhara were amazingggg!!
The food at Peshawri is delicious and the staff are very friendly adding to the beautiful decor. Thank you Krishanu and Shantanu for the great food suggestion and service.
This place definetly lived up to its expectations.
Talking about the ambience : it is a kind of place that takes you by aww, peaceful and archaic. And this place follows Peshawari traditions : we were asked to eat using our hands. Loved the concept .
We had ordered : panner tikka , fish tikka and chicken tikka as starters : all of them well made , filling and tasty .
Portions were also good enough .
For main course : Indian breads with the very famous dal bhukari. This dal was the best dal I ever ate . ( not exaggerating)
And chicken curry , liked the curry too .
We were provided with cake as a complimentary dish because it was a birthday dinner .
Peshawari has been a tradition in nearly each and every ITC hotel across the country, but this one in ITC Sonar is perhaps one of the largest in terms of size and has the same theme decor as though you are sitting in the lanes of old Peshawar
Pretty much known just for its awesome kebabs and starter food it’s a treat for the non vegetarians but being a veggies I must confess that the paneer tikka here comes close to none
If you’re a fan of the typical good old North Indian Sheekh kebab then that’s a super bet too
The large crisp naan that that make like a starter makes for great pictures and sharing with friends and family and is tasty too
It’s not the place for your typical roti and subzi, but the food along with naans is filling
You can’t end a meal here without their special Rabri, kheer or Ras malai and of you’re fond of the lassi that’s amazing
Foreigners love the place for the meats, the ambience and well stocked bar
Don’t leave the place without having their traditional paan that’s in the simple one and the one that’s sweet too!
A must while you’re staying in the hotel and pretty much one of the best Indian restaurants in the city oh joy!
Don’t miss out on the beautiful lotus garden while you’re walking in and out of the place!
It is located in the ITC Sonar hotel.
Parking - free valet parking.
Food - The reason I choose this place for dinner was because of their famous dal bukhara.
I ordered combo 'single dinner menu' price 1750 INR.
I still have the taste of dal bukhara. I preferred the dal bukhara over all other dishes on my table.
The murgh khurchan is a unique prepared dish.
The starters were good too.
Raita was prepared simple. Onion, tomato, cucumber pieces kept on the curd bowl.
Sweets dish included gulab jamun and that was tasty too.
They suggested me to have the food without cutlery and I emjoied this concept.
Drinks - The mocktail drink was amazing too.
Paan is complimentary kept at the entrance.
Ambience- Peshawar style unique ambience. The seats don't have a backrest.
Service - 4/5
Price- high
I went there in 2007 or 2008..I do not remember
but the ambience was amazing and I was awestruck as a little girl of 10..the food was awesome and I kept on staring at the chefs who were cooking right in front of the guests inside a glass chamber..we ordered naan and butter chicken
Visited this place finally after much cancellations and planning. It was a great Sunday afternoon celebrating my friend's bday ! We ordered directly for the main course which consisted of Dal Bhukhara, Aloo Tandoori , Onion Kulcha and Bharwan Kulcha ! Papads and Salads were complimentary! The Dal was perfectly cooked and made and so was the Aloo. The Kulchas were well crispy and easy to eat. The best moment was the complimentary cake from the ITC bakery for my friend. The cake was delicious 😊
Ambience is great. Staff is really courteous n welcoming.
Veg food is great. Dal bhukhara is worth having.
Only drawback not many options to choose from.
Peshawri had been on the wish list for the longest time and it got fulfilled. The entire experience was a feast for the senses. What is innovative and unique about thia place is that they provide no cutlery on the table and you are expected to have the food with your hands, which is perfect as the food is finger licking good.
For starters we took the Tandoori Lobster-One of the best i've ever had.The lobster meat served in the shell is a must have if you are a sea food lover.
For mains we opted for the Dal Bukhara and Murgh Khurchan which were polished off with naan and lachcha parathas.
The Dal Bukhara was simply divine. It is an explosion of flavors inside your mouth urging you to go for the next mouthfull. This is rightly their signature dish.
The murgh khurchan was good but not at par with the stellar dal bukhara.
Ambience hospitality service was fantastic.
I had heard a lot about the peshawari brand of restaurants that the ITC hotels have. I have been eyeing to visit one of these in the ITC Grand Chola, but as luck would have it, my first visit to the Peshawari culminated in the ITC Sonar.
The place located in the ground floor of the hotel would instantly take you down to the region as the name suggests. Servers dressed in relevant attires, the lighting, the ambience, even the cuttlery adds to the experience. I was sold even before I had seen the menu.
We went on a Sunday evening and it was quite a packed house. We were escorted to our table in no time and were seated down. One thing that seperates Peshawari from all the other restaurants that I have visited is their menu. Their menu is a wooden board with veg and non veg options printed on either sides;
We ordered the sikandari raan, murg kurchan and lacha paratha. Once food arrived, it was a completely silent table. The sikandari raan, which is a dish made out of lamb was the highlight. The meat didn't even require teeth to breakdown. It was charred on the out, yet soft and juicy inside. The murg kurchan and paratha is a pair made in heaven. This definitely answers why this is regarded as one of the signature dishes of this place.
We were already full so couldn't eat more , but for all the vegetarians out there, do order dal bukhara as well as that was something which was suggested to us by the person taking our order.
An icing to the cake was an actual cake. We were visiting on an occasion. So the staff were courteous to wish since we entered and also provided a yummy chocolate cake complementary from the house.
Visited them twice in the last 2 days and had the same dishes on both days. Started with a couple of drinks. Grey Goose for the ones wanting to taste poison and virgin mojito & masala coke to the sufis. My friend did not like the virgin mojito. They serve roasted papad with spring cut onions sprinkled with chat masala and fresh lime. The famed dal Bukhara had to be ordered without doubt. We were suggested to order tandoori aloo- a dry dish to have alongwith the dal which turned out to be a fabulous combination. In breads, we ordered toor naan which is the best ‘Kadak’ naan I have ever eaten. We topped a delicious meal with some lovely firni which seemed too less a quantity. If I have to find fault, well the seating without backrest does not support the comfort sought by a guest who is experiencing culinary orgasm. Staff was ever friendly and trying to ensure a delightful experience for their guests. Keep it up guys. Will visit you every time I visit Kolkata and stay at ITC Sonar.
Delicious food good ambience loved the placed
Excellent service by Abhishek sarthaki and krisanu enjoyed lot with my family loved to come again
Awesome food served in the restaurant. Main course was more better. You should try dal bukhara..its different and delicious in taste.
The restaurant is based on the dish of peshawar.
So they should also serve nihari, as it is world famous of peshawar.
I was recommended this place because of their special menu..It has got a very authenticated interior , as expected the staffs were so polite and well mannered ..I went there to try the special menu , dal burkhan and murgh kurchana, it was extremely delicious...I would really like to recommend this foods and yeah do not forget to try out Kulfi over dre...However , this restaurant doesnt serve rice out there , only Indian breads are available... #dalburkhan#murghkurchana#mademydinnerperfect👍👍👍
Food is nice, Wonderful Kebabs and Tandoori.
Ambience and service is as expected. Good Staff.
Over all good experience. Dining experience is as expected from ITC.
Great experience.
Highly recommended.
Best dish so far is the Lobster 🦞
We had the most amazing North Indian spread at Peshawri on our last visit to Kolkata. Jitendar Ram and Apoorbo Dey went above and beyond with their recommendations and hospitality. We were treated with sumptuous kebabs and cocktails and topped off with some Kulfi.
Obviously a bit expensive but the food tastes heavenly. Cocktails are awesome. There are many options of drinks to select from. There is no rice dish in their menu. And the tradition is to eat with your hand, although you can ask for spoon/fork if you need. A good experience altogether.
It was good but to be completely honest, if you’ve been to Peshawari at the ITc Maratha in mumbai, you will be disappointed with this outlet. Some of the items on the menu weren’t the same…the non veg sharing platter isn’t on the kolkata menu and that’s a huge disappointment.
The waiters are very nice but not trained or well versed with the menu or even communicate effectively. We had to wait to be seated even though it was empty, simply because there was no one at the entrance when we got there. Yes we had a reservation. A tad disappointed since it’s itc.
A private experience, taken well care off by the staff. Keep it up.
Decent food, not bastardized.
Delicious Food and Fine Service. Restaurant food, service and ambience made our evening and we celebrated the 6 month anniversary and was was offered with very delicious cake.
Thanks to all chefs, and Shantunu for the top notch delivery .

The good food and with great service, you can't skip when in city of joy! It wouldn't be surprising to say, Peshawari could be one reason for Kolkata to be city of joy! It worth the tag. The servings are so beautiful that it's bad to even tough and deface it, but food can't be left alike and it has to be grabbed and eaten.
Love the ambience, the warmth, the environment, the classy feel with extremely hospitable staff. True to its name, you feel royal Peshawri! . Food is excellent. Drinks are good. Did you know, they don't offer cutlery on the tables unlike any fine dine or restaurants. They give copper glasses for water (I really wonder how they maintain it so well and shiny). The only complaint (although not exactly a complaint) is the menu is very limited. You dont find much variety to choose from. They dont serve soups, no rice related items etc here(Seriously...!!!). This part is quite saddening as kids and senior citizens and non alcohol drinkers mostly have these as their obvious choices in dining.
Went for a family lunch on 25th November. Though a Saturday, it was relatively empty at 1 PM. The decor and ambience was nice and quiet. The seating is rustic; on one side of the table, it is without backrest; could become quite uncomfortable if one sits for an hour which is par for the course.
It is famous for Kababs, so we ordered veg, mutton and chicken seek kababs and chicken malai tikka. The kababs were satisfactory, not the kind of "melt in the mouth", a bit dry perhaps. The malai tikka was really good, soft and very tasty. Later we also ordered tandoori pomfret, Dal Bukhara, garlic and butter naan. The fish was superb but the dal was disappointing, nothing compared to Maurya in Delhi. I felt it had excess salt. The garlic naan was a bit hard.
The portions were quite good, particularly the size of the fish was really big. Most importantly, no item was hot ( chiilies I mean).
For desert, we asked for Rasmalai and Kulfi. Both were good.
The service was excellent, didn't have to wait for long for the food to arrive and the people were extremely courteous and nice.
Overall, I left with a feeling that it is nowhere near the exhaulted standard of Bukhara.
Went there for lunch today as it was my girlfriend's birthday. Well it was a great experience as the food was outstanding in taste and in terms of portion size as well. ITC never compromises it's quality and today I had to admit regarding the quantity as well. Usually in 5 Stars you get portion sizes in smaller quantities, in comparison to other normal restaurants. However, I am amazed to see the portion sizes maintained by ITC as we were so full that we had to pack the extras which we could not had. Coming to the food, we had Sikandari Raan - Murgh Malai Kebab - 2 types of Kulcha and Butter Naan accompanied with 2 mocktails. All the items were amazing and tastes delicious. The ambiance is awesome as you can feel the essence of Peshawar in Kolkata. Gesture of the staffs were too good. Special Thanks to Shantanu who guided us through the entire menu and recommended us for the dishes. Last but not the least I had to thank Shantanu once again for his warm gesture as we were served the mocktail and the Dal Bukhara free of cost just coz it was my girlfriend's birthday and we were referred by one of the previous colleague of Shantanu named "Vineet" . So approximately 1700rs food free of cost . This was something great for us. Would recommend Peshawri if you are looking for authentic North Indian food .
I had heard so much about this restaurant so decided to take my family here. The decor and ambiance is very good. We ordered the chicken and mutton kebab full platter with 20 pieces and it was nice. The chicken could have been tender. For main course, we ordered garlic naan, onion kulcha, dal bukhara (their signature dish) and makhani murgh. The naan was good in size and our server informed us that we should start with 2 because the naans here are big. The dal bukhara was kind of ok. The makhani murgh was delectable but more gravy and less chicken. The kulfi was awesome. Overall a nice experience but i expected more. Service was nice but for even small things like paper towels and cutlery we had to keep asking. They added an extra item in my bill and thank god i checked that. They though apologized for it. There was then an issue with printing out the bill.
Absolutely love the ambience and the food of this place, also love the concept of eating with hands.
A must visit place when in Kolkata.
