One of the oldest restaurants in Kolkata...seems to me like a heritage one. Be it lunch or dinner, it has always been the topmost choice for me and my family...right from 1985. Entering here...you meet with an ambience of a Royal age...quite different from the present outer world. Food is sophisticated.. not over spicy.. juices, tutti-fruity small or big, are just excellent. If you haven't tried it yet, please do. you wont be disappointed. Well, prices are a bit higher than others... and on weekends, festivals you shall have to wait in a queue outside to get a table....but once you get it..

It was recommended to me from Patna. I was told that I must order veg Chailu Kebabs and the kebabs were really yummy. The restaurant was crowdy and people were really enjoying their food. Really worth it. Good job guys, keep it up. If there would have been an option for 7 stars, It would have been a pleasure. I hope this food station open in Patna very soon..
Obviously one of the best..rather the best that beats the rest! Go there for some chelo kebab which happens to be a signature dish and quite popular. The place also harps on its sumptuous sizzlers and the biryani is surprisingly good!

Idk y people r giving hate comments about the service and the long wait,its actually not true. Peter cat is one of the most famous cuisine in West Bengal along with the out of the world extremely delicious food, and it is the main reason for the crowd waiting for 30 mins or so.If u don't have patience don't blame the staff for it.If u can wait for a considerable amount of time ,you will guaranteed get to taste one of the best foods in the world.
Just the best continental food in city.. Been several times yet it attracts me the same it did the first Time.....

They are famous for their CHELO KEBAB which is just mind blowing. With mouthwatering kebabs and butter herb rice. And choco brownie with ice cream is the other one and they also provide us a extra cup of hot chocolate with each plate of brownie.

Sizzler was not upto the mark. Chicken was hard enough and they served all the foods together so sizzler got cold when we start to eating. There was no point for ordering sizzler 😒
Chocolate souffle was not even close to "the peter cat" level. It was pale in taste and had a odd synthetic chocolate essence smell. Not their fine dessert.

Visited almost after 7 years for the love of chelo kababs in this place. The ambience and service is still the same. We had ordered 1 starter fish makhmali which was very tasty and ordered for pint beer. Which was a basic tuborg pint and priced 260rs per bottle. And was priced too much.
We ordered chelo kabab and chicken marakesh. To my surprise chelo kabab lacked the original taste which it used to have years back.
Maybe one more visit can confirm the same but somehow I felt the jujeh or the kebab wasn’t upto the actual mark.
Except the beer price rest all was worth the money. Looking forward to visit again soon.

Classy Ambience. Courteous staff however it would be best to go with prior reservations so that you get seating.
This restaurant is known for it's delicious chello kebab. The seekh kebabs were a bit dry the rice was too greasy with butter. Awesome place with great behavior of staffs. Perfect blend of elegance, legacy and affordability. Over all a nice place .
Location is also good. The shami kebab in the plate could be better. This place is iconic but somehow i think the quality has degraded a bit.

Have visited quite a few times. Love the atmosphere and the heritage attached to it. Food is usually up to the mark. One thing that you must keep in mind is to have enough time in hand before visiting this place because of long queue.

After 5 months we went for a dineout. The pandemic is still on & the curve is very slowly flattening. But, Kolkata (The City of Joy) & Bengalis can never flatten the curve of their "Love for Food". And may be bcoz of this, the city is to some extent being able to keep its vibe alive.
Peter Cat is one of the legendary restaurants of Kolkata serving the best Sizzler & Chelo Kebab in town, or u may say, the Country for years. After 4 years I visited Peter Cat knowing that it has opened its doors again. To my surprise, the restuarant is serving the same quality food at a time when the world is running short of raw materials, manpower, and logistics.
The Chelo Kebab consisted of one of the finest qualities of rice, a perfect sunny-side up, big pieces of Chicken kebabs marinated & grilled to perfection, & 2 perfectly grilled Mutton Sheeks. The dollop of butter on hot rice always takes a guest to could 9. The quantity is perfect for 1 guest. And that how it has been over years. However, other guests on the table can happily get a share of it to taste😀
The Mutton Hamburger Steak was another superhit. The big flat chunk of mutton was cooked in aromatic spices. An appropriate portion of gravy was laded on the top. This makes it neither too dry nor too messy & taste retains intact. It was paired with slices of boiled beans & potatoes. Handful of French Fries were placed on top of the steak. There was no rice/noodles on the side.
One of the most unique things of Sizzler here is that they do not serve rice/noodles with any & every sizzler. Savour this sizzler as a standalone dish to get the authentic taste of the tender mutton & aromatic spices. The dish remains warm for a long time.
Coming to hygiene & Sanitation during Covid.. Peter Cat is being strict with sanitation. Waiters & managers are wearing gloves, face shields & masks throughout. Body temp. of guests are checked at entrance along with self hand sanitisation. Guests are not allowed to touch chairs while sitting or walking out.
Best for kebabs, not to mention the chelo kebabs and sizzler you must try.. Appetizer i have tried with Prawn cocktail which was scrumptious.. But i would recommend either to go with sizzlers or kebab platters

Peter Cat doesn't need an introduction. Its a legendary outlet in the heart of Kolkata and has always been my favorite place whenever I crave for chello kababs.. I was here before lockdown and had a sumptuous dinner there.

Honestly peter cat has always been my No.1 favourite and have every time visited this place for sizzlers, but this one time I’m super disappointed with two sizzlers I had ordered while dine in - mutton hamburger steak and half sizzling dum ki raan, and both of them weren’t as satisfactory as Peter Cat usually offers. I know you guys will make it up and stand again. Keep growing ❤️

Chelo kebab খুব average খেতে । sizzler ভালো ছিল।
I have tried Chelo Kebab in quite a few restaurants before but none does at as skillfully as Peter Cat. The flavors are familiar, yet unique at the same time. The chicken melts in your mouth, while the minced lamb sausage has just the right amount of spice. In the center is an ample amount of buttery herb rice with a fried egg on top. It all just mixes so well. Oh, how can I forget about my favorite continental dish - "The shrimp cocktail". It was a great unique starter too. Brownie points? The attire and behavior of the restaurant staff.
So we ordered this two platter item one and this two was very good but this mutton kebab not so good You can not sweeing properly . Other wise ambiance and staff behaviour was nice and they focussed on cleaning and services was very fast and good .
The ambience is bang on so are the dishes . Chello kebab is a must have so is the cream soup and lemon chicken.
The caramel custard is also amazing
Had gone here for lunch during Unlock 1 Phase. Some three weeks back. For the first time Peter Cat was so empty!! No crowd, no queue.. anyway we had ordered two non veg Chelo Kababs.. and since my mom is a vegetarian and likes Indian food.. had ordered fried rice, Masala Kulcha and Kadai Paneer for her. As usual good food, good taste. ❤️
This heritage eatery in Calcutta requires no introduction. If you're planning to go here, it's advisable to set out early as chances are, you have to wait for your turn. As far as I know, there's no provision of booking or reservation and it depends on the first come first serve policy.
Coming to the food, the chelo kebab platter is worth trying out. With ample amounts of butter over rice and the kebabs made till perfection, you will want to visit this place again and again.
Apart from the chelo kebab, you can try out the sizzler platters too.

Visited there during Christmas. Got our table on time. Very fast with ordering. Staffs are amazing and the food was lovely. Rate is a bit high but totally understandable with the reputation of this restaurant. Love this place and will visit again.
I went there to have the famous chelo kebab. But someone on the other table ordered chicken marakesh and i felt like ordering it too. Thats why i ordered chicken marakesh as well. To be very honest, i love chicken marakesh more than chelo kebab. Chelo kebab was also pretty good. But i love marakesh more.

At times the service can be really slow due to the resturant being packed.The menu is small but the food served is iconic.I have tasted every item in their menu.My favourite is Mixed Grill Sizzler and Steak Sizzler.
Nice cozy ambience. Hit up the joint early so there wasn't much of a wait time, but the line was massive when we left. The food was really tasty. I can't see enough people recommending the Dum ki Rani, which is just perfect. Chelo Kebab was nice. Their mutton biryani was great. The mutton was cooked perfectly and the flavour was something on another level. The fish sizzler was okay. Really tasty and cooked correctly. Cocktails were alright. I cannot recommend their signature dessert item. The service was professional. Their pricing is justified.

The original cello kabab is superb!! And the mixed tandoori sizzler is a must try. Great ambience feels like candle light dinner.

Peter cat is an old restaurant and icon in kolkata food map. The food used to be good to excellent but now it not that great the starter option is limited and not up to the mark the main course is good but chelo kabab the iconic dish is not great rather sizzles and continental items are better the dessert option is too few . The place is always busy to have time in u r hand if u plan to visit as they do not accept prior bookings
