Went for weekday lunch. Place - it was easy to find, parking in the back of the building. Ambiance - the place was big, well lit spread out nice. Food - ordered chilly chicken, noodles, 3 cup chicken. Nice flavors and preparation. Service - nice service, staff was prompt and friendly. Overall a nice place with good food.

Kolkata's skyline glitters beneath Monkey Bar's fairy-lit canopy, casting a playful charm over this rooftop fusion fusion haven. Brick walls whisper tales of the city's history, while vibrant cocktails sing a modern melody – each concoction a whimsical masterpiece in a glass. Monkey Bar's menu dances to a global beat, offering delectable twists on familiar favorites. The butter chicken bao at Fatty Bao next door takes center stage, bursting with juicy, spiced chicken and pillowy softness. But don't let the baos steal the show! Dive into the fragrant chili potatoes, each bite a delightful explosion of spice and crunch. Back at Monkey Bar, crispy paneer pakoras pirouette alongside succulent Korean pork ribs, harmonizing East and West on your plate. Savor the melt-in-your-mouth tenderness of the lamb Rogan Josh, its rich gravy a warm embrace on a cool Kolkata night. But the magic truly unfolds with Monkey Bar's cocktail symphony. The "Kolkata Calling" thrums with mango and chili, capturing the city's essence in every sip. The "Spiced Paloma" offers a fiery tango of grapefruit and tequila, a fiesta for the palate. Service at both Monkey Bar and Fatty Bao is attentive and friendly, guiding you through the culinary adventure with warm smiles. Whether you're a seasoned gourmand or a curious explorer, the staff ensures your journey is smooth and satisfying. Monkey Bar & The Fatty Bao is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. It's the laughter echoing under the fairy lights, the clinking of glasses as strangers become friends, and the lingering taste of global flavors on your lips. It's Kolkata, reinvented with a playful wink and a delicious twist. So, gather your friends, climb the stairs to the rooftop, and let Monkey Bar & The Fatty Bao enchant you with their fusion fiesta. Just be sure to save room for that extra bao – you won't regret it. Pro tip: Head there for sunset and watch the city transform into a shimmering jewel box.

Beautiful place with great food and friendly staff. I had Malai Fish tikka here. It was very tasty and that was the first time I liked a Malai dish. We also had a prawns starter and Egg Fried Rice. My only complaint is that, cocktails are not fine. Staff is very friendly and helpful. View of the Victorial Memorial is nice at night.

Went there on two consecutive days as the food was very good. The view is also great as Victoria Memotial is visible. The drinks were awesome and the presentation of desserts is masterchef like.

The place was good. Service was good as well. I felt it to be a bit overpriced over what they offer. 2nd in the list after Asia!Asia!Asia! in the food to price ratio on the bad side. Has the decency to provide more food than Asia!Asia!Asia!

One of the great korean restaurants. Do visit this place if you like korean food. The ambience is great and the view from the window is nice. The food is tasty and good. The price can be a little lower. Desserts are very tasty. Family dinner, dates and get togethers are possible.

I was skeptical about trying sushi but decided to go with the veg version. And it turned out to be wonderful on the very 1st try. I became daring and had 3/5th portion of wasabi and now I trust the Korean people when they say they don't like wasabi. It burned my whole tasting senses for a moment and my eyes became watery in an instant!!🥲🥲 Next I had Seafood Tempura Udon which was absolutely marvelous. The light texture of the soup and the ability to fill the appetite with its richness in taste was mind blowing. Fish and prawn tempura were the best combination with it. Also must mention the fish cake🍥😌 Trying Cheesecake was also the best decision as the not too sweet cheesy fluffy cake with its best buddies ice cream and sour cherries made my foodie heart flutter. After all these items, when I was contemplating whether I should have a drink or not. Whether it'll ruin the taste of cheesecake or not. The sudden thought of trying a completely unknown stuff came up in my mind. Thus I decided to take sips of Sakura Sakura, a grape based non alcoholic drink including a hell lot of ice cubes and some green apples providing a sour and fizzy taste that completely made me smile. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS CAFE TO EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO TRY JAPANESE FOODS 💯💯

I tried Chasu Ramen , fish katsu sushi roll and a pork side dish here.. Ramen was so far one of the best I tried in Kolkata. I felt the size of sushi was little smaller than usual.. overall experience was fantastic

What a lovely spot! The atmosphere at this restaurant bar is fantastic. I dropped in for brunch and was pleasantly surprised by their specialty cocktail menu; it's a must-try. The food was also quite good, making it a delightful dining experience overall.

Top notch Ramen place in Kolkata, best for Japanese dishes. You also get Soju here! Pricing a bit high, but justified for a fine dine.

If you're searching for a bar that seamlessly blends a captivating atmosphere with exceptional culinary delights, then look no further than The Whiskey Barrel. Nestled in the heart of the city, this hidden gem captivates all who enter with its enchanting ambience, warm hospitality, and delectable food offerings. As I stepped into The Monkey Bar, I was immediately struck by its rustic yet modern décor. The dim lighting, exposed brick walls, and comfortable seating create an inviting and cosy atmosphere that is perfect for both intimate gatherings and lively celebrations. The bar itself boasts an impressive collection of whiskeys and beers. The staff at The Monkey Bar truly elevates the overall experience. From the moment I was warmly greeted at the door to the attentive service throughout the evening, their professionalism and knowledge were impeccable. They were more than happy to guide me through the extensive drink menu, offering expert recommendations tailored to my preferences. Now, let's talk about the food—the true star of the show. The Monkey Bar takes bar cuisine to a whole new level with its creative and flavorful offerings. The menu features a fusion of traditional comfort food and innovative culinary twists, sure to satisfy any palate. I highly recommend starting with their Spicy Pork - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with a subtle smoky undertone that lingers on your taste buds. For the main course, the mouthwatering pizzas stole the spotlight. Cooked to perfection and adorned with a tantalizing blend of salami, parmesan, and a tangy tomato sauce, each bite was a burst of pure culinary delight. The accompanying cold coffee was the ideal complement to this flavorful masterpiece. In summary, The Monkey Bar has set the bar high when it comes to creating an exceptional dining and drinking experience. With its inviting atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and culinary masterpieces, this establishment has truly earned its place as a must-visit destination. Whether you're looking for a memorable night out with friends or a cosy spot for a date, The Monkey Bar is sure to impress even the most discerning guests.

Located in Fort Knox near Camac Street. The place has a great view of the city. The ambience is comfortable and perfect for hangouts and dates. The food and bar menu is awesome as well. I ordered Chasu ramen and it was delicious. The quantity was enough as per the price. Must visit place for Asian cuisine lovers.

Nice cozy place with a great view! Butter Chicken khichdi is a must try here! The service got to improve a lot , they took long time to deliver a simple cocktail and a beer! Food is nice, would definately recommend!!! ;)

This place has been consistent and really good over the years. Each food item is equally great and tasteful. Crispy chili fish, Naga pork, Tiger chilli beef, mustard chicken from the tandoor menu are excellent. There was this green mango and papaya salad with prawn (you can add other things or just without meat) that was surprisingly tasty (I don't even eat papaya). I'll be going back there for the great food they have. Their cocktail Mangaa is excellent. Never had that kind of taste anywhere else. That's a must try. They have a nice view of the city as well, screens to watch sports. Just a note that it can become really loud with music at night. The service is very good. I'll recommend this place.

The Ramens and The Chicken Tikka Pizza are a must have! We had Tantanmen It was spicy and rich with pork flavours, loved it! The Ramen quantity is exceptional, it can be shared by 2 people and can still fill their bellies.

I went there during saptami with my friends, the ambience, the food and behaviours of the staffs were so good. The star of the day for me was the bao's. It was awesome.

The place is cozy and probably provides one of the best views of the city. And if you want to experience something magical choose the evening time (just before sunset) to visit the place. Tried the Chasu Ramen and it tasted great.

Fatty bao had always been in my mind after I discovered their ramen menu. Asian food lovers should just go asap. Loved everything abou this place. The food, the service was great.

Tried their chicken karaage bao ( highly recommend, it tastes amazing)
Chow mein noodles with smoked chicken, basil and garlic. ( Tasted average)
Braised chicken with celery and soy sause ( if your are going for the noodles then you will love this ) .
The cracker and other 3 condiments came with the noodles.

Ordered crispy potato bao from here and got it delivered in a nice packaging and with a quirky note attached. This is the first time that I have tried this dish so I cannot compare with other food joints. The bread was very soft, the potatoes were crispy and flavourful and there was also a cucumber slice dipped in sauce and cheese. Overall good experience, although I didn't like the smell of the sauce, but perhaps it is the signature of the dish so no complaints. Keep up the good work.

The quality has certainly gone down. The Bao was flat. The chicken too spicy. Neither the chicken had the taste of sambal nor the Bao had any sweetness. Very dissapointing.

Food description may be was not appropriate as it had written pan fried noodle but it was deep fried in reality

Hands down it is one of the best places to have a good Japanese meal in the city. The Fatty Bao has quickly caught up with the food lovers in Kolkata. A modern oriental ambience with beautiful paper lanterns strung up origami, a glass facade overlooking the city structures; it is an idyllic setting for a dining experience. Perfectly rolled up sushi, soft bao with brilliant fillings, ramen bowls, delicate dimsums, refreshing salads; the menu is pleasing to all. Drooling something different feeling at Kolkata

We recieved our meal all mixed up with broth draining out from all the packages and spilling into other boxes. We had ordered veg and non veg dishes, since my wife is a vegetarian and with the pork broth getting spilled on all our dishes, we are forced to reorder from another restaurant. Pathetic packaging and delivery. The soya sauce too has spilled all over and a couple of boxes (containing broth)are pretty much empty.

A perfect date-night place. It has become my favourite restaurant just for the ambience it has in the evening. You can see the lit up Victoria Memorial and it's just beautiful. The food is nothing but tasty and a very good value for money.

Going backlins, decided to come up with this mini review for me to reminisce later, rather than establishing a critical analysis.
As evident, there aren't many places that can serve authentic Japanese cuisine; or de facto, there aren't many places that serve Jap in the first place. I can name a handful that could satisfy my palate armed with weeb knowledge.
Apart from the spectacular food quality, the decor giving the asian kick zhuzh up the place even more.
It was 2019 September, autumn is practically summer here, as usual with diminished appetite, ordered 3 dishes.

Spicy Salmon and Cream Cheese sushi: With the backdrop of Victora Memorial, enjoyed a fine uramaki; that subtle taste of cheese give the salmon a warm embrace, tres bien!

Tantanmen: I honestly don't recall having a ramen bowl as delicious, as savory-to-the last-bit like this one, EVER. With thick yet light chicken and pork broth, perfectly cooked chasu cuts, gorgeous waves of flavours, this dish right there is peak comfort food alright.
Should I pray, since this bowl looks like the god? Even after almost a year of having this, I can still feel the lingering aftertaste in my mouth as I recollect. Can't wait to dig into it once again!

Coco Caramel: Sublime, that's the word for it.
With hazelnut and crispy praline coated meringue sided with milk chocolate crémeux, hell this dessert is nothing but a rich experience of jewels.

There's literally no drop in tempo I mean, where do you find that?
I thought so. Thinking about it makes me esurient, otherwise who bothers to write a review after almost a year when I've left writing in the first place.
If there's a handful of places that should never be struck by apocalypse, then Fatty Bao is one of 'em and this means a lot coming from me.
Well then, carpe diem fellas!
The Fatty Bao is a restaurant with excellent authentic Japanese cuisine and a fine ambience with sober yet beautiful decor and good music. There is a separate bar counter at one end of the dining area.
Ordered the following food items:
Eggplant Bao - As the name suggests it's stuffed with fried eggplant and kimchi cabbage with sriracha sauce and garlic. This to me was a surprise once I took the first bit. Veg bao can be so delicious?! The eggplant was crispy with a lovely fried texture. The bao was very soft and full of flavours along with the stuffing. Absolutely loved it.

Grilled Sambal Chicken Bao - Stuffed with Sambal oelek, soy, lemongrass and scallion, no wonder this bao was delicious too and the lemongrass and scallion gave it a delightful touch.

Classic Sticky Crab Fried Rice with Chilli oil - This was my happy food. The rice was moist with lots of flavours blended perfectly and full with shreds of crab meat and veggies. The chilli oil gave a beautiful flavour. This dish reflects the love with which the dish was cooked.

Sichuan Three-pepper Pork - This maincourse dish with pork was scrumptious and will make you want more. The pork pieces absolutely melted in the mouth. The rich gravy was flavoursome analong with the Sichuan peppercorns, long green chillies and scallions adding a crunchy texture and freshness to it. Loved this dish and it did justice to the sticky crab rice.

Japanese Cheesecake with sour cherries compote, pistachios crumble and Vanilla bean ice-cream - Ohh my my! This dessert took me straight to heaven. Beautifully presented, the Japanese Cheesecake was dense yet soft and not too sweet which is perfect to my taste buds. The sour cherries compote added and zing and freshness which balances perfectly with the rich dense cheesecake. The pistachios crumble was lovely and the vanilla bean ice-cream instantly hit the mark. The vanilla bean ice-cream was amazing and very light in texture. One of the best of its kind I had.

Fatty Hill - It's their speciality and the presentation is eye-catching. It's a chocolate pyramid with mint at the centre with almond praline and covered with rice crispies, played along with the divine Vanilla bean ice-cream. The dense and creamy chocolate was beautiful and when I took a spoon of it the rice crispies and almond praline added a crispiness to it. As I took more and more if it I reached the centre where the mint centre comes; a white minty core. The vanilla bean ice-cream was the same used with the Japanese Cheesecake. A delectable dessert!

The staffs were extremely polite and cordial. Great great thumbs up to their unique way of plating and eccentric presentation. It's one of my favourite places.
I went to this restuarant with my friend. (It was a treat from his side)
This is the first time I've had authentic Japanese food. The quality of the food is top notch. The ambience is soothing and cosy. The view is also great. I loved every single dish I tried here. They have a unique range of dishes. I wish the price was a bit reasonable.

Must try : Glazed ribs, Tantan Ramen, Apple Pastry, Salmon Sushi and Cocoa Caramel.
Follow me on Instagram for more food pics.

This place is my every time's to go place! The mushroom butter noodles and the Char Sui Bao! Oh Wowww!
These are my favorite from the place and sipping the sake and watching the Victoria and eating these beauties is worth an experience to experience.
Last time I tried their pork Ramen which is again equally good. This place never disappoints me.
A must visit :)

We were in the mood for some bao and who else but the Fatty one. Crab and chicken bao was ordered with prawn and chicken dimsum and a plate of the most delicious pork. Quality of food was amazing. The ramen was extremely tasty. Packaging for delivery was done keeping in mind the experience
of dining in from.the restaurant is not missed out. Prawn and chive dimsum was the best order for us.

The Fatty bao is my go to place for Ramen...As it's close to my college so after a long tiring day what could be a better thing than a hot bowl of Ramen in life 😊! I'll suggest everyone to taste their
1. Fatty pho Ramen
2. Chasu Ramen
3. Once I tried their monsoon menu and it had an extraordinary Ramen which is not available always. But that one was amazing
The only fallacy is this restaurant is a bit overpriced and not that affordable to college students...but the quality and the quantity is worth the prize without a doubt ❤️!

Initially we were supposed to go to The Fatty Bao, but on reaching there we found out that Monkey Bar is serving menus from both the restaurants. So, I'll be posting this review for both the restaurants. The interior of Monkey Bar very is warm and contemporary and is divided into 3 sections for different capacity of seatings. We sat near the windows from where we could clearly see the iconic Victoria Memorial and St Pauls Cathedral. The view is so amazing that you won't feel like leaving the place. So, we ordered Eye Of Hurricane and Monkey Bull for drinks. Both the drinks tasted very refreshing and is a bit on the sweeter side. For food we ordered Chicken Wings and Chicken With Aji Amarillo. The chicken wings could have been better if it was fried a bit less but the taste was good. And the BBQ chicken was absolutely fantastic. The chicken just melts in the mouth effortlessly and taste is perfect. For dessert we ordered Sunday Sandwich. The presentation was very aesthetic and there were various kinds of flavors that could be felt because of the tutti-frutti. Overall the food is amazing. About the staff and service, this is absolutely my personal observation and I may be wrong as well but there may be a possibility of biasness among the employees of Monkey Bar. Other than that everything was absolutely top notch. Yeah the price is a bit on the higher side but in my opinion its worth it. Overall, Great food, great ambience and the view, makes this place an absolute must visit.

"The fatty Bao" and "The Monkey Bar" are operating at the same place now. The food listed below are from "TFB" menu. You must contact the restaurant before visiting.
Temperature check, sanitizing and hygiene were properly maintained.
We ordered:
🔺 Grilled Salmon Chicken Bao
🔺 Spicy Salmon and Creme Cheese Sushi
Unfortunately dessert varieties were not there. My first sushi experience was a good one. And the Ambiance was great.
Although, I feel that for the quantity they provide, the cost was on the higher side.

The Fatty Bao comes up with its new menu to tickle your tastebuds.!

An absolute orgasm of Asian gastronomy, The Fatty Bao, operating under the Olive Group of Restaurants, The Fatty Bao offers the best of Asian cuisine in a nutshell. With a perfectly laid down ambiance, the multitude of ambiance will surprise you everytime you step into this absolute paradise of food gastronomy. The big open windows, offering a clear and picturesque view of the landscape of this city, will keep you dazzled with the St. Paul’s Cathedral, Victoria Memorial and Howrah Bridge right infront of your sight.

The interior is spectacular to say the least; the quintessential Japanese styled paper lanterns to the colourful plates, and then right up to those exotic small meals; will woe all and hypnotize all your active senses. The trendy and hip-hop setting, along with its laid-back vibes reminiscences the Izakaya themed dining style, in which one gets to drink on alcohol as well as to munch on food, but with the trick coming in multitude of small mini dishes, instead of a gigantic meal filling up all your appetite. This is followed by lots of small drinks with subsequent rounds and accompaniment of chit-chats.

Always on the lookout to offer this city with something new, The Fatty Bao has come up with an extensive selection of new entries, including both a well curated selection of cocktails and mouthwatering dishes reflecting the vast culinary diversifications of Asian cuisine. While you gaze at the salt and pepper shakers, and enjoy the bright sunlight brimming in right through the gigantic windows, or even enjoying the romantic atmosphere emancipating through the paper lanterns on a cool evening date, get ready to indulge your tastebuds into some of these new additions.

Start with the delectable and melt-in-the-mouth crumb fried goat cheese, with the perfect balance of curried vegetable and soft goat cheese, put in together harmoniously with the curry sauce playing the part of balancing the flavours. The chilli oil and the coriander leaves add on to the taste, while the crisp curry leaves provide a sharp contrast to intensify the keystrokes on your tastebuds. Try the Crispy Chilli Fish next which is cooked with diced onions, garlic, assorted peppers and green chillies. While the soy and rice wine vinegar add on to the oomph, the coriander leaf indulges you with fresh aroma.

The Huanese eggplants cooked in spiced chilli garlic and garlic sesame paste will create explosion of flavours and a ripple of waves in your mouth, with the smooth and relatively succulent Javanese Tofu. This has Tofu marinated with mushrooms, lemongrass, homemade cherry tomato and a layer of basil sauce, which is then grilled to perfection inside a banana leaf. Another noteworthy vegetarian appetizer would be the assorted mushrooms, with a delectable assortment of button and shitake mushrooms smoked in coriander and chilli bean sauce.

Try the Chairman Mao’s Grilled Pork before you move on to the mains. Imported Pork belly, braised in star anise, soy, cinnamon, fried chilli, rock sugar and bay leaf, cooked to perfectly in a fiery chilli sauce. An excellent retainment of fat to meat ratio and the crisp, grilled and slightly charred edges will make you dance to the tunes of symphony. For mains, you can try the Hainese inspired chicken rice, which has the perfect juicy and soft poached chicken, along with a flavorful rice, vegetables and ginger broth to oomph up the flavour.

Don’t forget to pair these delicacies with some of their old and new range of indulging cocktails. Be it the Kumquat & Friends – which had homemade kumquat and basil shrub with gin & tonic, Mr. Muddle – which had fresh grapefruit muddled with thyme, gin & tonic, Gin-Tea – a delectable Chamomile tea shrub with gin and tonic, the lovely Kiwi Martini, the Fresh Chilli and Basil Cosmopolitan with Absolut, or the showstopper the Fresh Fruit White Sangria – offering red apple, green apple, oranges, white grapes, white wine and optional Kiwi to electrify your senses!

The dessert was equally attractive, rather perhaps more and made us crave for a repeat order. A delight for any sweet tooth, the Rain Drop Cake had delightful fresh strawberries, fruit jellies and pistachio crumble. Pour in the sweet micro beet and honey soy sauce, and you get an amalgamation of all the flavours including the sweetness from the strawberries and the crisp and crunch from the crumbles. Talk about something Instagram worthy tasting so good! There are always more options for you to select from the menu while you ride to the flavour town of gastronomy!

#thefattybao #olivegroup #thefattybaokolkata #asianfood #izakaya #japanesestyle #lanters #sushi #saltandpepper #newmenu #whenstomachtickles
So I visited this place located in Camac Street on my birthday. It was a rainy day and me and my friend got the seat by the window. The view was just soo soothing. We order for a white wine sangria and a sepuka( a raspberry based mocktail). The presentation was on point and the wine was of real good quality. For food we ordered the asparagus tempura and cream cheese sushi , bao and a Japanese cheesecake. The sushi was soft and creamy inside with the perfect wasabi. The Japanese cheesecake was fluffy and the compote had the perfect texture. Overall the experience was one of the best.

I am writing this review real late and hence, there are certain missing information. However, I want to to share the experience about this place. This place was in my bucket list for really long time and finally, we ended up here. The décor was good, the staffs’ behavior was praiseworthy and their service was really fast. Sip, Nibble and Slurp down as The Fatty Bao is all ready to wow you with their Pan Asian offerings and free flowing delectable cocktails

Admitted, the city's choice of Pan Asian delicacies has been on a upscale of late. And this is definitely what Kolkata is looking up to in the upcoming years. Not too rich, saucy and flavourful, Asain cuisine has been what Kolkata wants. The trendy, chic, new Asian dining with a fun, inventive bar experience is all set to reign Kolkata's food map with the backdrop as the cityscape. Introducing The Fatty Bao - a yin and yang of sorts - the brimful of colour, character and arty walls with pre-batched cocktails and bowlfuls of love is all set to take Kolkata on a journey to South Asian gastronomic history.

Where? The address reads 801 A, 8th Floor, Camac Street, Fort Knox Building, Elgin. This is easy to locate.

What's it about? A mural which is actually a food map of Southeast Asia and illustrations from travel diaries brings to limelight a modern oriental ambience with beautiful paper lanterns strung up origami, a glass facade overlooking the city structures with a perfect fine dine experience amidst the lanterns and the wall arts. The Fatty Bao’s laid-back vibe and it's playful yet serious menu is a cocktail and a culinary adventure that draws inspiration from the vast, diverse continent which one can explore at the restaurant.

What we couldn't resist?
Small Plates:
Crumb Fried Goat Cheese - The Curried vegetables done in curry sauce with chili oil, coriander and crisp curry leaves, fried to ecstasy and the sambal sauce accompanying it made all the difference.

Crispy Chilli Fish - The fish cooked with assorted peppers, diced onion, green chili, soy, garlic, rice wine vinegar and fresh coriander was a poetry on plate.

Huanese Eggplant - The innovative fried eggplants tossed with spicy chill garlic and sesame paste garlic couldn't be missed.

BBQs and Grills:
Javanese Tofu -The tender Tofu marinated with homemade cherry tomato, mushrooms, lemongrass and basil sauce; wrapped in banana leaf and grilled was outrageous.

Chairman Mao’s Grilled Pork - However my favorite happened to be be imported pork belly braised in rock sugar, star anise, cinnamon, soy, fried chilli and bay leaf done in fiery chili sauce and micro beet.

Assorted Mushrooms - The Shitake and Button Mushrooms tasted heavenly on being smoked in chilli bean and coriander sauce.

Mains:
Chef Special Chicken Rice- The Hainanese-inspired chicken rice served with vegetables and ginger broth was again a major love.

Dessert:
Raindrop Cake - This was indeed a visual treat for many of us. The Fruit jellies, pistachio crumble, fresh fruit, honey-soy sauce and micro beet hit in on amazingly.

Beverages:
Kumquat & Friends - The homemade gin and tonic done with kumquat( an edible, orange-like fruit that is native to Southeast Asia ) and basil shrub was citrusy and flavourful.

Mr Muddle - The Fresh grapefruit muddled with thyme concocted with gin and tonic was a massive hit.

Gin-Tea - Myself being a tea lover, I simply drowned myself into the Chamomile tea shrub with gin and tonic.

Fruity Fresh White Sangria - I have a taste for wine and that when muddled on with freshly cut Red Apple, Green Apple, Orange, White Grapes and kiwi gave in the perfect fruity Sangria.

Kiwi Martini - This is a refreshing twist to a regular martini with using vodka instead of gin, and the tart and sweet kiwis contrast very well with it.

Fresh Chili and Basil Cosmopolitan done with Absolut was Tropical and refreshing indeed.

So jive in and flock up to get all drowned with the amazing cocktails and delectable Pan Asian delicacies at The Fatty Bao.
Cheers!
#panasian #cocktails #gin #sangria #thefattybao #konizfoodwheels

Food was very cold. All the food was stuck together. Very very oily. Lacked flavour. Chicken became rubbery probably because of overcooking.

Loved loved loved this place !! Been meaning to visit this one since a long time, finally went for lunch today. Loved the ambiance, loved the food ( though they could improve the starters quantity wise ), the drinks, the staffs were very helpful and courteous. I tried Closed Baos for the first time today, loved it. But again I think, starter portions should be increased. In short, A MUST VISIT !!

The ambience is really wonderful. And to add to it the courteous staff. This restaurant is on the eighth floor so you get an amazing view of the whole city and Victoria memorial. What i liked most was the decor. The food was amazing especially the sushi. The martini was not so strong.

We went to this place for a casual lunch. We tried the ramens- pork katsu ramen and seafood ramen . Both of them were amazing but the seafood ramen was absolutely divine. The cocktails we ordered were- passion mule and Bora Bora. Both of them were refreshing and delicious.❤️

👩🏻‍🦰Duomo Duomo
🧠The lantern and the fan is the first thing that hits the brain once you are at Fatty Bao @ 801A, 8th Floor, Camac Street, Fort Knox Building.
🤠If your tongue needs a twist from usual Chinese North Indian or continental these you are at right destination which serves Japanese cuisine.
💁🏻‍♀️The cute Japanese wife in Traditional Kimono leads you inside. The indoor sitting area featuring the fans and lanterns,
all over as a symbol of Prosperity.

We started with

👉🏻Dimsums
👉🏻Pan Fried Noddles with chicken
👉🏻Wasabee Prawn

I would do an injustice if I don't share the experience of the dessert. Honestly the best desserts I ever have had.
🥰 Fatty Hills, The mint centred chocolate pyramid, stuffed with almond and crisp of rice.
🥰 Cocoa Caramel, having an appearance like big sized Eclairs and taste of milk chocolate and hazel praline. It was served with salted Caramel ice cream.
🥰 Japanese Cheese Cake, Sour cherry compote, pistachio crumble and vanilla bean ice cream would surely steal the show.

👉🏻 Though the price is bit on a higher side, still for such an experience you can am pay that much, once in a while.

Me and my boyfriend are a huge fan of all Asian cuisines and we have tried many places when we were in Chennai and continuing that in our hometown. We ordered the sushi platter with choice of salmon, chicken and prawn (4 each) and absolutely loved it. Rather we chose this place in Kolkata because it had sushi in its menu. My favourite was the prawn and salmon sushi. We didn’t like the Grilled Sambal Chicken Bao at all. I have tried Bao in many places and different types and every bao though soft on the outside has this beautiful tangy taste inside but this bao was so bad. The server mentioned that the chicken bao would be spicy. I found the fillings so spiceless. It had no taste. Just colour I felt as it didn’t impress my taste buds. Next we had Katsu Pork Ramen and I loved it. This was one of my favourite Ramen so far. Loved everything about the Ramen. The consistency, taste, portion everything. Though the place is called The Fatty Bao, the bao is 1/5 but Sushi is 4.5/5 and Ramen 5/5.

I have enjoyed their food and ambience. Their hospitality is highly commendable. Apart from this I missed sticky rice. There is no sticky rice in their menu Ramen noodles is authentic and Shakura Shakura dessert is also very yummy. People can go and enjoy their food. Location is very nice.

Last night I visited this place with a friend @niladriDas and completely blown away with the ambiance and decor. We have chosen tall chairs to witness the mesmerising view of Victoria and nostalgic Kolkata. We have ordered lamb Bao, calamari, pork Katsu ramen, a chicken rice bowl in chef special section and a Japanese cheesecake. Bao scored 11/10, calamari was perfectly cooked, it’s the best pork Ramen I have tasted in India and for the cheesecake was good accompanied with fresh blueberry jelly. I have complain with the rice as it was not sticky and chicken broth was little smelly. Just hated it. Another thing they should play nice and Soothing Japanese as that could go with the ambiance.

A mesmerizing ambience which will make u feel u are eating at a Asian Eatery but still keeping in mind of latest trend giving u a modern look while u dine in.
The food which we ordered was Spicy Tuna and Jalapeno Rolls which i felt it was perfect as an authentic spicy sushi roll. They did serve Wasabi and Gari.
Pakchoy Gyoza was okaish, a lot can be improvise regarding the taste of it plus it looks less of Gyoza more like momos.
Dan Dan Noodles was tasty and bits of pork can be felt mixed with the spicy taste of the mains.
Chasu Ramen was far the best. I loved their portion size plus the full bowl was very fulfilling regarding the taste and that Chasu was mouth melting.
Totally loved the food and the place.
Great for dine-in!

A wonderful theme place to visit for dining which lies in the heart of city Kolkata is the restaurant "The Fatty Bao", which maintains a japanese theme and cuisine which is without a doubt one of my favourite out of all the theme restaurant out there. The food is great although it lacks in quantity. The staff really attends to the tables and the price is very reasonable. I would give a 4 out of 5 star rating overall.

I loved everything from the drinks to the sushi to food. The ambience was also great and service was prompt.

Go here for an amazing ambiance and even amazing food. Their Baos are top notch and do right by their name. Their Baos are so tasty that I nicked the last one from my girlfriend's plate. We could secure a window facing seat even though we didn't have any booking. The service is fast and the servers are extremely humble. The price is a bit on the higher side but it's worth it comparing their quality and quantity of the food. We tried their Chicken Katsu Bao, Sichuan Chicken Dumpling, Banana Blossom and Chicken Salad and finally ended the meal with a glass of a Sakura! Although we visited in the afternoon I would recommend going here after its dark as the ambiance with their colors and lights comes out more lively.

Well this is my first at Japanese cuisine I am thrilled at the experience. The ambience, decor, helpful staff, view of the Victoria Memorial outside (since the place is on 8th floor and overlooks the monument through full sized glass walls) make up for excellent time to be spent here. The presentation of the food is really nice.
In frame:
• Spicy salmon cream cheese & cucumber sushi roll: This was my first time trying sushi and salmon and I liked it specially with the accompanying dip. However its needs to be tried only by one who is adventurous as it tastes absolutely different for our palate.
• The patty bao: Soft fluffy bread containing a minced lamb patty with a concoction of sauces. This is highly recommended.
• Tantanmen: They are known for their soupy noodles. It is highly filling and one bowl is generally sufficient for a meal. This preparation is of pork and is on the spicy side.
• Fatty hill: Mint centred chocolate pyramid, almond praline, rice krispies and vanilla bean ice-cream.
• Bora bora cocktail
• Hoegaarden: What I really liked about this place was that they serve beers in chilled glasses which I am yet to see anywhere else in Kolkata.
#FoodHub
Join my Facebook group FoodHub for more exciting reviews from me and others. I've tried Japanese food for the first time. It tastes so good! The food was healthy too. Not much oily. We had sushi for the first time and bacame fan of it. The salad needs a special mention. We had 3 different ramen, all of them were delicious. Crispy mushroom and bamboo shoot was mouth-watering. The ambiance is very nice. You can have a view of Victoria memorial while having the food. The stuffs were very helpful. They add 10% service charge. We ordered: °Sushi rolls (spicy salmon, cucumber & cream cheese) °Seafood & pomelo salad °Crispy mushroom & bamboo shoot °Fatty pho °Tantanmen °Chasu

No matter how many Asian dinings I visit, Fatty Bao happens to remain my absolute favorite. The food here not only fills your stomach, but your soul too. I tried closed baos for the first time here when it had just opened, and ever since I have craved it every few weeks!

The ambience is nice but taste wise didn't find it to be good.

The Fatty Bao and their surreal ambience.. Located on 8th floor of Fort Knox building.. So there is nothing much to say, have a seat, have a outside glance to see the beautiful city especially Victoria Memorial and just enjoy being yourself in the place.. Yup, it's a bit on the expensive side because of it's additional service charge.. We ordered The Fatty Bao PB & J which in other words Pork Belly & Jam.. The Pork Belly melts in our mouth but for my tastebuds i didn't like that that much.. A 3.75 / 5 for the dish.. We also ordered Duck Nachos.. It's just perfect... But, I would recommend to try out Chasu (Ramen) if you are a pork lover.. And for the desserts we had The Japanese Cheesecake.. It happened to be showstopper of the day... There are other food items as well such as dumplings, gyoza, baos, sushis.. Overall food is great.. Ambience is spot on... Staffs are friendly... Had a really great time.. Pic 1: Chasu Pic 2: Duck Nachos Pic 3: The Fatty Bao PB&J Pic 4: The Japanese cheesecake Pic 5: Ambience

It seems The Fatty Bao is only limited to their everyday customers, for outsiders it's almost impossible to find this place. There is no banners and no hint of the restaurant on the location given.

Once you reach
-----------------------------
But if you still manage to find this place on the 8th floor of Fort Knox building, you'll get a warm welcome by their staffs. The ambiance is beautiful, better to say they've done the best job possible. Just hope to get a table infront of open view. I loved this place for the ambiance and I think you'll love it too.

Service & Management
------------------------------------------
Staffs are very helpful and loves to explain the dishes they offer. But I was determined to try their Ramen as I've heard lot of good things about it. So ordered it and they served it on time.

Tantanman @ Rs.495 (4.5/5)
---------------------------------------------------
Explaining Ramen in simple words, its basically one bowl meal. Soupy noodles cooked with different meat broth.

This one was really spicy. Garlic, fried onion and an awesomely perfect half boiled egg on top. I found 5 slices of pork that could've been more but still okay. Overall it was one of the best ramen I've ever tried, just a perfect treat for this winter.

Fatty Pho @ Rs.455 (2.5/5)
-------------------------------------------------
This one was recommended by their staffs and it tasted completely opposite to Tantanman. We wanted Ramen based on Chicken, so this one was made of Grilled Chicken and Chicken broth.

Unfortunately this bowl disappointed me a lot. This one was meant to be non spicy but there was actually no flavour in the grilled chicken pieces. Noodles in the mild gravy tasted like any packet noodles. Didn't really enjoyed this bowl meal.

Conclusion
----------------------
The Fatty Bao is a wonderful place, you'll love the ambiance for granted. Tip, try the dishes marked special on their menu card. Remember they also add 10% service charge. Pocket pinch may feel bit high if you aren't carrying Dineout GP or Zomato Gold.

The Best Bao Place!

This place offers a wide range of Asian cuisine from Cantonese, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Singaporean, Indonesian and Korean. They offer a good dining experience amidst a colourful ambiance. BBQ Chicken Closed Bun Bao was really yummy, so was the Prawn Tempura Sushi. The main dishes were nicely placed, plated, presented and palatable with accompanying papads, sauces and dips.

One of the finest places in Kolkata to dine out. Amazing ambience and service. The Fatty Lotus Stem Root was lip smacking! Sushis are a delight to taste. The Miso Butter Ramen is irresistible. Served with dullops of butter, iy is awesome. The Baos are equallt good. A perfect place to go for a date!

The food was absolutely amazing and so was the ambience. Just one small thing to note, weirdly enough, somehow the Japanese Cheesecake at the Bangalore (Indiranagar) branch was tastier than the one I had here but that was the only development point I have- everything else was really great.

The best dimsum I've had was the prawn and chives dimsum. The sushi was fresh and so good. The ramen was very tasty and had that kick and the soft boiled egg was perfect. I would highly recommend the dimsum and the ramen bowl.

The Baos are yummy...the crab and prawn baos as well as the fish bao! Definitely worth a try. The Baos buns itself are light and fluffy.
The jungle prawn curry was quite complex and tasty.
The dancing prawns we ordered for starters was nice but not spectacular enough to be the chef's recommendation, for me personally it was quite heavy handed with the salt. Also I didn't like the tails of the prawns being left on a stir-fried starter, since it added nothing to the dish but made it more difficult to eat.
Overall a yum experience! Extremely satisfying.
The staff is courteous, polite and attentive.
My only genuine complaint would be that I do not feel the maintenance of the restaurant is upto the mark.
The curtains to the restroom are old and worn out, the uniforms of the waiters are shabby with food stains on them, their aprons have turned from black to grey with age, the shiny glass panel decorations on the ceiling have smudge marks on them, lending the whole place a dingy vibe which takes away from the food experience, since you then also wonder how clean the kitchen space would be.
Also in comparison to their Mumbai counterparts the shabbiness is even more stark.
It would be great if that could be worked on as the food is so good and tasty and the staff so delightful.

Had a lovely experience. Dropped by there for dinner on ashtomi evening. There was a puja special menu and we oredered from that. Can't remerber the name of every dish but everything was just lip smacking. At first we had some chairman mao's pork belly bao, it was truly amazing. Bao was so tender just melted in the mouth, loved it . Then we had chilly pork noodles and a lamb curry in main course. We wanted to have lamb dish but didn't want the lamb preparation with coconut gravy which was in their menu. But they gladly suggested us that they would make it according to our customization if we want. So they made us a chinese lamb dish and wow.. it was the best lamb I had till date. Chilli pork noodles was also very delicious. Then we ordered for cocoa caramel dessert which was in my bucket list for long. It was super tasty also. Quantity is not very satisfactory and price is on the higher side too, but the food quality is brilliant. We had some mocktails, which were also delectable.

Spicy Edamame : Steamed edamame tossed in a crispy garlic flavour, a healthy, wholesome option for the table. Tip: ask for a milder version if you’re tolerance to spice is low. ⠀
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⠀⠀⠀
⠀
Fatty Pho & Miso Butter Ramen : 10% noodles and 90% love - Fatty Bao’s ramen is my go-to choice for a healthy and wholesome meal in a bowl. Miso Butter Ramen is a vegetarian broth with miso, spinach, and scallions, served with tempura vegetables on the side. Fatty Pho is an aromatic chicken broth with noodles, grilled chicken, egg, ginger and scallions. Both are mildly spicy, and rich in flavour. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well well finally got the privilege to visit this amazing japanese restaurant...The staff, the ambience, music... everything was just perfect. I tried my life's first ramen here & guess what I am in love with it.
We had ordered the seafood ramen & fatty pho. Well no one in the reviews had mentioned about the seafood ramen so we had some hesitation to order it. But it tastes like heaven.
Would definitely visit this place again.

Finally, got a taste of their bao after a looooooong time. Post them closing shop in Delhi, I was itching for the flavour and the ambience and this one is Kolkata definitely offers the experience.

One aspect common with the place in Delhi is huge glass windows overlooking the humdrum outside. This one offers a view of the Victoria Memorial if you choose to sit on the high chairs or the bar stools and this view against the setting sun and pigeons perched atop the landmark, is both breathtaking and calming at the same time 😊.

The food, as always worth multiple visits and the staff very courteous. Each of their baos has been curated well. Especially for folks who are visiting from outside Kolkata, try the fish bao- it is the very taste of Bengal carefully folded inside the bao. Enjoy!

This has definitely become my favourite place, after the first visit itself. This is a very cute restaurant with spacious seating area and amazing ambience. Located on the 8th floor it also offers some breathtaking views of the area. It is a Japanese styled restaurant and even the cutlery was Japanese styled. Staff was very well behaved and attentive. Now coming to the food I ordered-
Prawn tempura sushi - I am a big fan of sushis and I loved it here.
Chicken bao- the chicken filling in the bao was spicy. So if you are a spice lover you will like it.
Seafood ramen - This was very healthy and light with loads of seafood in a plain broth with ramen. If you like eating healthy then you should try this.
Japanese cheesecake - Although it tasted a bit different than the average cheesecake but this was definitely yummy and was the perfect ending to the meal.
Price is 1500 for two approx but I feel the quantity is lesser compared to price. Nevertheless, loved my experience here.

This place was on our list for long and we weren't disappointed. The Wasabi Prawns and the Three Cup Chicken as suggested by our server was really nice. Iced Tea was balanced and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Gyoza was not at par with other restaurants and there is room for improvement. None the less, a well spent day.

Izakaya: However bewildering the word might sound, it actually is a contemporary Japanese dining tradition of letting yourself loose after a hectic and tiresome day. Its origin can be traced back to the Edo era of Japan but it evolved into a popular culinary culture during the Maiji revolution. Well, the literal meaning of Izakaya is ‘to stay for a drink’, but modern Izakayas have a lot more to offer than just cheap drinks. It is like a Japanese synonym of Spanish Tapas or Middle Eastern Meze, where you sit back, relax, grab a biru(beer) to start with and meanwhile choose the accompaniments. As the dishes pour in, you gradually start absorbing the vibe of the place and ultimately let yourself flow with the wind.
Divyans Mahansaria
The restaurant is located in prime location of Camac Street. We ordered Bao, Khao suey, Thai curry and steam rice, noodles and gravy. All were tasty. They gave complimentary birthday pastry which is a nice gesture. The staff is polite but it was rude to collect remaining food and utensils even when somebody is eating and without asking before removing. The ambience is good and dine out discount made the price reasonable. I would recommend.

Must try -firecracker chicken .. ramen bowl noodles.
