Starting with the cafe is a exemplar of decorating small interior with great diligence! The food was really good, although it's a bit on the costly side. Although, the service of the staff is extremely good. Me and my friend visited at there and We had ordered 1 chicken salad and creamy Fish with butter rice . They were taking to serve a lit bit time otherwise they were nice and polite also. The tables were quite small, apart from the food it was really a great experience . We’ll visit there again.

Visited during Durga Puja , specifically saptami while tried from pandel hopping. The look initially from outside was classy and elegant . The ambiance was Aesthetic, cute, comfy . Tried their- .Lip smaking fish fries with potato wedges( a must try) .Cheese chilli chicken(dry)(must try) .Red Sharon Tea(must try) .KitKat shake .Cookie crumble shake .Mint Mojito . .Pocket pinch-400-500/- person A must try with friends ro hang out and chill. Ambience is so romantic. Soothing music playing. Cute decoration. Great to spend evening with your loved ones. We tried their Belgian mocha frappe and crispy fried chicken sandwich. Both were awesome.

No planned visit, just went there because we are hungry. But after entered the place, I shocked to see how they manage to make such a picturesque place in that small place. The atmosphere... the Surroundings... just awesome, wherever you look you will want to click pictures. The theme of this Cafe is Music. Their food was nicely decorated and taste was very good. Though they took some time to serve but it's okay. The behaviour of chef is also nice, he even took feedback from us about the food. I strongly recommend this place. One of best and most romantic cafe to visit in South Kolkata. The cafe is situated at a 10min walk from Desapriya Park is a quite one with a beautiful decor and sitting arrangement. The bright colours of the cafe, lightings and plant decor outside highly attracts the new gen. Coming to food, we tried their shakes, coffees and fried chicken (8 pieces of chicken for 265rs around) is highly worthy in terms of quantity and taste. Further, the cafe is a great photogenic one and has some live music setups. Hence, its a highly recommendable cafe for cafe lovers.

We had visited this cafe on a Sunday afternoon and it turned out to be an enjoyable experience for both of us, who were meeting after almost 3 years. The staff was helpful and polite, the decor was very warm and cozy. We had ordered a ginger lemon honey tea, roasted hazelnut frappe, fish orly(consisted of 8 deliciously juicy fish pieces) and an olive and creamy chicken sandwich. I loved the tea especially which was served with a small pot of honey being a tea lover but apart from that, the food was awesome too. The service was great, we could chat wholeheartedly in a relaxed environment which was de-stressful for me.

I randomly went there on a Saturday morning, without a plan. I had a good experience though. We had sandwich, pasta, coffee, and a chicken dish. All were good as much as I remember. The ambiance was very cosy. They have nice decor and many small toys and items all over the place, which looks nice and also good for killing some time. When we visited, it also had some extra decor for football world cup and upcoming Christmas. They also have a nice, fully working piano that you can play 😃 And the very young waiter who served us, was slightly inexperienced, but really helpful. Thanks.

It's hard to find cozy cafes in Calcutta, but Cafe by the Lane is the stop where all your boxes gets checked. Food✔️ Staff✔️ Interior ✔️ As I heard from the staff, all the interior was done by the owner, who seems to be a music fanatic and a musician himself. His love for music can be felt through the decorations that have been put up. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The quantity and quality of the food equates to the price. The drinks are also tasty. For me the highlight in the drinks was the Honey blended Americano.

This hidden gem is situated at a very convenient location,beside deshopriyo park.Being very close to Metro makes it a easily accessible cafe.This cafe is themed after London streets,has a giant piano(it's not tuned). Plenty of spaces for big groups and also perfect for romantic dates. The food is worth the money, although it is somewhat pricey like other cafes in that area,they serve a large portion of food which makes it value for money.The interior is well lit and decorated (I would say quite overdone).This place has both outdoor and indoor seating,the servers are nice, sometimes the chef comes out to ask how the food is.I would recommend it food enthusiasts and people who want good pictures.

They have many outlets and am sharing the experience about the southern avenue outlet, the ambience is really top notch along with the food, there service is really nice. Would recommend to visit and try their signature dish smokey cheesy fried wings, pork and fish items.

We enjoyed the working piano very much , very very much . The service was also good. And all the food was tasty. And also the cafe is located in a very prime location . All in all a must must visit. Probably one of the best cafes in Kolkata.

Few days before, I visited this place. The ambiance was really good. It was well decorated with different types of things. I loved the music ,they were playing. Staff were well behaved. They were well cooperated.They know very well,how to deal with the customer. Well, the taste of food was delicious. Specially the Kitkat shake. Really an amazing place. One of the most awesome Jaz theme cafe in the city of joy Kolkata. We ordered kitkat shake,jasmine tea and cheesy french fries to start with.Jasmine tea it was told a regular tea but was served with green tea...The staff there didnot have the knowledge much about the tea...the flavour was also missing in the tea...oreo shake amd cheesy french fries was good though!!next we ordered Fish fry,which was also good...their payment options were limited that posed a huge problem for us...otherwise its a good one!

I went to cafe by the lane for the first time. The hostess was very helpful and polite. We started off with fresh lime soda and blue lagoon. Nothing to rave about these. They were the usual. Then we had wine batter fish (which came with a side helping of French fries) as the starter, Chicken Stroganoff which was served with garlic, butter and herb tossed rice, Grilled chicken (with mashed potatoes) for the main course and walnut brownie with ice cream for dessert. I liked each one of them. Everything was served fresh and piping hot. The brownie was really soft and freshly baked. It served as the perfect end to our meal with a generous dolop of Vanilla ice cream. Though the dishes seemed a bit overpriced, but no complaints against that as the quality of the food served quite made up for it. Also they a have great selection of tea which can be ordered by the pot or can be purchased for home brewing as well. They arrange for live music too and cherry on the top -> they have a grand piano which anyone can try out :)

This was my first visit here and was disappointed...<br/>We ordered a green apple soda which was good enough but a bit too sweet so i added some water to dilute the sweetness..<br/>The cinnamon coffee had too much of cinnamon powder..<br/>A lil mellowing it down will help..<br/>We saw some pork items on the menu which we wanted to try later after ordering a starter..<br/>So we ordered fish fingers... <br/>Now this is where they messed up...in the menu it was clearly written that 8 fish fingers would be served..the price was 300rs..<br/>Good enough..<br/>But we were served only 6 small sized fish fingers..<br/>We asked the staff and the explanation given was ridiculous..<br/>She said that in the old menu it was 8 fish fingers which were small in size like nuggets and in the new menu they were serving 6 longer ones...<br/>But to my knowledge fingers will be fingers and nuggets will be nuggets...<br/>And they must serve the customer the exact number mentioned in the menu..<br/>For rs300 even 8 tiny nuggets too would be negligible....<br/>Well we didnt want anything more after that silly explanation..<br/>If its a mistake in the menu it can be recitified instead of misleading..<br/>Taste wise it was ok.. fish was normal basa..<br/>But the portion was insignificant... <br/><br/>Staff was good but no consistency in management...

Visited here on a Sunday. Ordered spaghetti Alfredo pasta. Was delicious. <br/>Another dish for my partner- thai chicken curry n rice.<br/>Was delicious <br/>But guess what, found a small sharp pc of broken glass in the last bite. Luckily he didnt gulp it. But if he had, it wud have been a disaster. I don't want to imagine that. My intention is not to malign the image of the cafe. But this was huge and could be avoided with extra care. The manager came and apologised to us, offered us freebies (that's kind of them) but we declined since we didn't wanted to bargain on our chance to report this issue. A lil extra care is required when working in the kitchen. It might just kill someone. <br/><br/>I didn't want to be rude to the manager. So we left after paying the full bill. But this left a crack in my trust for sure. After all my partner's life could be at stake. Thanking God for protecting us from this disastrous mishap.

It's a hidden gem in the arrayed alleys of Lake Terrace area. We went for a Sphagetti Alfredo and Cheese baked Ham followed by Fresh Lime Soda. Each good item is a meal in itself.<br/><br/>To get one's evening enlightened with soothing music and a good ambience cannot take place sans this cafe. It's a good place to hangout, lobbing apathy towards which has to be a regret.<br/>

Extremely great food! Absolutely loved it! The food tastes authentic. We ordered the chicken stroganoff and chicken thai curry from the main course menu and fish fingers as starters. The fish fingers were filled with fish and no extra layering unlike other restaurants. The brownie is freshly baked and is extremely soft and delicious! <br/><br/>We ordered during this lockdown and the safety standards is very well maintained. They served the main dishes in cute compartmented boxes and was completely sealed so as the other food items. The delivery person also maintained all safety standards. They also gave packets of hand sanitizers in the package which was extremely thoughtful. <br/><br/>You can call on their individual number to place an order anywhere in Kolkata and Howrah. Apart from the menu available here they have daily specials so make sure to ask that!

Every time when we need to sorting out things and spend some good moment we always choose this cafe . This cafe is such a life saver for us specially this covid time. Comeing to food so When ever we go we order one mac and cheese pasta .its huge quantity and taste like just wow .you have to say one of the best white sauce pasta in kolkata . Taste was okaish but i felt it came in less quantity. <br/><br/>▪ Shredded Chicken French Fries - the fries were perfectly fried. They had chicken and some sauces. Not properly balanced. It needed more sauces or spices i think. Average!<br/><br/>▪ Kitkat Shake - Loved it. <br/><br/>Food wise it's not up to the mark. It needs improvement. Some dishes are overpriced and some are rightly priced. But i will still say give this place a visit for the amazing ambience and feel!

From the very outset , Cafe by the lane looks like a cozy place and takes you away from the crowd of urban Kolkata to a sweet and 70s kinda ambience. The food is worth every penny. Smoked cheesy chicken wings and the Momo with chicken broth were top notch with flavours garnering taste on our experienced palates. The music, the service and the ambience makes me wanna come again.

Located near Lake Terrace Road. Any music lover would love this place for the way it is decorated, with a piano kept at a corner which is like a cherry on top. The playlist makes the ambience come alive. The menu is reasonable and has a lot to offer. Would definitely recommend this place!

The food was okayish. The lunch combo was somehow not there on 25th. Also quite overpriced especially the drinks. Food is decently priced though.

I've come here with my friend on Christmas and we were both wowed by the ambience. We ordered a baked chicken leg and a mini pork platter that had ham, mashed potatoes, pork sausages, and bacon. The food was finger-lickingly delicious, especially the chicken baked with cheese. We're gonna come here again for sure. Merry Christmas!

I was really attracted by the exteriors of the cafe and decided to give a visit. The ambience is really pretty. It’s well lit & beautifully decorated. Firstly we ordered two beverages for us. Both of them tasted good. Then came in the starters. We ordered garlic chicken fingers. It was priced at Rs 250/- but the item was frozen. I fail to understand why the frozen item would cost so much. It didn’t even come with some cafe made sauces or dips. <br/><br/>Main course we had “ paradise on earth ” which was fried chicken with stuffing in tomato & basil sauce. It came along with some herbed rice. The rice was really harsh seemed as it wasn’t cooked properly at all. The price of this item was Rs 350/-. The price is worth it as the quantity it contained was enough for one person. The stuffing had cheese inside it. I would have personally preferred melting cheese rather than solid cubes of cheese. The gravy was bland and just had too much pepper in it. <br/><br/>Cordon Biue — Looks very similar to the first item it was just in white sauce & had a coating of ham in it. I liked the chicken ham combination also the gravy tasted quite good. The rice was hard as much as the rice of the previous item. <br/><br/>Cafe By The Lane has a very extensive menu. Overall the prices are worthy of the quantity they offer. We didn’t like the food items, however the beverages were pretty nice. Also they took a lot of time to serve the food. The staffs aren’t well knowledgeable about the items. My entire experience was average was disappointed with the food items which I tried. <br/><br/>P.S — This review is completely based on the items I tried today.

This is a relatively small but extremely well decorated food joint,which almost instantly gives a vintage vibe with its interiors.Their service was very amiable.<br/>We ordered: <br/>a) Smokey cheese chicken wings(6pcs)<br/>b)Pan fried fish in wine sauce with parsley rice.<br/>Both the items were really tasty and well cooked,specially the smokey cheese chicken wings.We never tried anything like that before.<br/>And it was quite affordable.<br/>It was a great experience.

Cafe By The Lane is a quaint cafe in Lake Teracce. The decor is lovely. We ordered ginger iced tea, grilled chicken with veggies and a pot of lemon honey ginger tea. The place is really clean and the servers very efficient. Cheers to Sweety for her lovely service. Hope to visit soon.

Unfortunately the wings had an extremely thick coating which went all soggy in the watery cheese sauce. Coming to the smoked flavour it was not at all smoked rather burnt. A pretty well decorated cafe where you can have some good food & good conversation with you friends or family.. i must say decorations were totally beautiful..<br/>coming to the food -we ordered Shakes & these were so cremey & yummy.<br/>and mac & cheese , cheesy chicken wings..<br/>quantity was so good that for two people that amount of food was more than enough & sadly we couldn't finish it..<br/>Young peeps go & check in this beautiful cafe to have a nice time over there.

The interior is so aesthetic it blew my mind away. Every piece of vintage decor coupled with the wall with band names and the seating, lights its so pretty. Tiny place but wonderfully decorated. Food is pretty good too and quantity is tremendous. Service is good too.

This place looks so petite & comfy.. it’s perfect for a date :) Though we went there with friends for an adda over chai on a splendid evening & had a good enough time.<br/>Took some cheesy starters & coffee/tea .. food was good .. but service is really slow & you literally have to struggle to get hold of a waiter & track your order.<br/>Keeping that aside, it’s a nice place.<br/>And I would love to go back there .. this time for a date in the cafe by the lane may be :)<br/><br/>Happy eating ☺️

The place is very pretty & beautiful. The food here is amazing. The music scene is really good. You can come here and chill with your friends anytime. Definitely a stress buster.

Went there on a fine evening with a high expectation as this was a recommendation from one of my colleagues..and i don't regret it 😍<br/>Got totally amazed with the whole set up..it's colorful it's vibrant it's gorgeous and it has everything that 'll set your mood on..they've a small outdoor seating which is really cute..basically you'll get a foreign like feeling over there😂😂They've used so many small stuff to make the whole ambience and made it really cute😍😍<br/>People are friendly and polite..I loved the quality of food and the way food was presented..we had *smokey bbq chicken wings~ 8 pieces of chicken..sauce was creamy and delicious<br/>*Baked fish~don't remember the exact name though..served with herb rice and some veggies..happy that we ordered this one<br/>*Hazelnut frappe~lovely for sure.<br/>This place located near Desopriyo park crossing..3 to 4 minutes from Zeeshan..Highly recommended.

Ambiance was totally lit. I just loved the vibe and atmosphere of the place. It's simply a visual treat to the eyes. Food was okay. We ordered mixed sauce pasta, garlic chicken wings and kitkat shake. The shake was so damn good. Staffs were so friendly. Very happy with the experience.

This place has nice ambience sort of European touch. Staff were friendly, one thing was little annoying there was a girl who was taking our orders talking in some kind of valley girl accent I don't know why.. Other than that they were helpful.<br/>But food, were not up to the mark other thand the starter I didn't like other food. The mixed sauce pasta was worst.<br/>This is a fancy place if you are willing to go this kind of place I will recommend this.<br/>Oh and we went to this place to celebrate birthday of our friend but there was no dessert available which was not acceptable.

Very much colorful and attractive.<br/><br/>Food- Tastes good infact I must say very good because of their one of the finest dish (Smokey cheesy chicken wings).<br/>Ordered-<br/>- Smokey cheesy chicken wings<br/>- Chicken shredded french fries<br/><br/>Staffs- Polite and well-behaved. Very much friendly.<br/><br/>Price is reasonable. Food quality and quantity both are doing well. Hope to visit here again.

The cozy, little restaurant has everything that will make your and your friends' or family's evening perfect, nostalgic and of course, musical. Those who had been to "Parathe wali gali" before, they will easily find this little, homely cafe; as this cafe is on that same alleyway.<br/>The place with its vibrant, colourful interior oozes out warmth and uniqueness. I liked each and every bit of it, even the loo exudes positivity! (The pics are below, check it out) I am giving them a 10 on 10, for the ambience.<br/>Now coming to the food. We ordered one Caramel Cappuccino and an Irish latte. We took Wine batter fish with french fries as starter. We also ordered Mac and Cheese (Pasta) with mushroom and pork add-ons and cheese stuffed chicken in bacon wrap. Everything was delicious. They gave us no reason to complain. But that Mac & Cheese deserves a special mention. That was yummilicious! We were too full to take any dessert. We would love to try them on our next visit.<br/><br/>

Visited this place during DurgaPuja..This place is small but well decorated..foods were amazing in taste..amount was also okayish..price is okay..but there was lack of stuffs at that time..don't knw if that was due to Puja or nt..so there was delay in taking orders and serving foods..but overall it was nice.

So glad to have chanced upon this place. A rare find with beautiful decor, even better service and a chicken stroganoff to die for. :)

When you go out with your friends for a meal. Apart from a good chat the food also plays a vital role. Unfortunately this was not the case at Cafe by the lane. We first started with <br/>1.The fresh lime soda was flat. Then they first served a cola Mohite when we had asked for a plain one but the replaced one was also ok. <br/>2.The CHICKEN CEASER SALAD is supposed to be COLD BUT FRESH, the LETTUCE is supposed to be FRESH , CRISPY N TASTE n the CROUTONS in the salad is supposed to be FRESH like TOAST BUT WERE SOGGY.The whole dish looked like it was made yesterday and kept in the fridge and served to us today. <br/>3.The chicken stroganoff was just ok. Like when u r really hungry u eat whatever you get , it doesn’t matter then if the food is good in taste or not .VERY DISAPPOINTED . <br/>AND THIS CANNOT BE MADE UP BY GIVING AN EXTRA BROWNIE WITH ICE CREAM!!!!!!!

Everything about this place is simply amazing. Situated at a place quite easy to locate, this would be your go-to cafe if you love small cozy cafes with pretty decors. We ordered Beer batter fish and Cheese baked chicken leg along with shakes. The food was very tasty and the service was fast too. I am definitely going back to this place soon!

Good food and service in exchange of decent price is the basic part of any eatery after which comes the role of ambience. BUT here in CBTL, priorities are different. They unabashedly prioritise their decor and artefacts over the food and service to their patrons so much that you will definitely be enchanted by this quaint little place to spend a couple of hours of your day but if you are expecting value for your money, properly cooked food, decent service et cetera - then you will be disappointed to say the least!<br/>And, if you by mistake land up there with a toddler who gets attracted to all the cute little things placed all over the cafe - boy! you are gone! be prepared to get an earful from the owner on your failed parentage but they will remain totally unapologetic about their service failure mind you :-)<br/>So all my foodie friends, if you don't mind shelling out your precious grands on frugal, uncooked "delicacies" and all the time in the world to be waited upon - then Cafe By The Lane is 'THE' place for you (of course if you are minus a kid)

The quantity was very very less. One dish won't satisfy a single person. We tried 4 different dishes, nothing upto the mark. Worst was the service. Couldn't expect anything like that. Do not ever take ur kids, d waitress will keep on reminding that they might break d million dollar show-pieces.
