Review K.c. Das - Kolkata (Calcutta)

Abhinandan Banerjee
An age old name in Bengali confectionery business. From 60's to the mid 90's many NRIs took a part of Calcutta along with them when they returned back in the form of canned rasogolla . The quality and traditional essence as well as the taste remains unaltered, although in an age of radical innovation where consumers are asking for new form factors they are somewhat left a little behind.

Well as this is in my locality I quite often visit this sweet outlet. This famous sweet shop should not only boast of the best rosogollas which are pure delicacies, soft, spongy dipped in perfect sugar syrups; but also should boast for all its sweets. The pea stuffed kachori and aloo dum in winters are a treat to your taste buds and so are the hing er kachori in summer. Their labongo latika, chanar jalebi, khirkadam, kalakand, gulab jamun and not to forget their misti doi are my personal favourites. These sweets indeed satiate your sweet tooth cravings.
The ambience is nonetheless good, the place is well kept and clean.

KC Das is pioneer of great rosogollas in Kolkata. This outlet has sitting arrangements inside.Tried their radhaballavi once which was good.Ended it with their famous rosogolla and it lived upto it's reputation.I dropped by this outlet another time seeing a new thing called Italian singara on menu. But it wasn't available that time.I just had a rasmalai that day which was so exquisite that it lifted up my mood.

The K C Das outlet situated in Kalighat is known for its sweets, kachoris and other savouries...some of the preparations merit special mention such as the common' khirer chop.' Which is distinct different in taste and look.... try it...

This place makes some of the best peas kachoris, making it an often drop in during the winters. The summers are great for their equally brilliany hing kachoris. Other must tries at K.C. Das are the Jolbhora, labanga latika, khir er chop, khir kadam, kalakand, the exquisite rasmalai and of course the rosogollas.

The rosogollas are soft and melt in the mouth. Boiling them in hot sugar syrup gives them their beautiful silky and spongy texture.

When the world famous inventors of the Bengali sweet delicacy opens up a store at South Kolkata, what more could you ask for.
I love their rossogollas specially the ones made with sugar syrup. They are just so yummy. And the sorbhajas are also very good.

This is just like any other outlet of K.C.Das. I am personally not a very big fan of the chain as I have actually found many other places which offer better sweets including the rosogolla. However, this place offers decent sweets like the other outlets and the set up is good enough

They serve the best and the most authentic rossogullas. Their rossogulla is so soft that it feels like it melts in your mouth. I have tried their Rossogolla and Rossomalai and both were simply amazing. The place is not very expensive too.

It was a cloudy afternoon when I went to this outlet with my friend as he was hungry. As soon as we went in, it began to rain hard. Unable to leave, we sampled out each and every item the shop possessed. From doi to rash malancha to bell shaped chocolate sweets to peas kachori - phew!!
The staff was always smiling, the outlet is well decorated, and the food outstanding.

Food quality here was not as great as I had expected it to be. I dropped by this outlet at around 6 in the evening and quite surprisingly most of the sweet and snack racks were empty. The snacks that they serve was not good at all. Apart from being nearly tasteless the vegetable chop's outer covering lacked the crunch. The only thing good about the outlet was the decent little seating area which is perfect for an adda with your friends.

K.C Das serves delicious and yummy sweets and for mishti addicted people like me, K.C Das is like our second home. But al little dissapointed, thats why 1 point less. This outlet does not keep all the varieties like the main one.

Please please do keep it.. Otherwise its yummy.

K. C. Das needs no introduction. Sweets they make are simply superb. I particularly like the khir kadam and misti dhoi. All their sweets are simply mindblowing. Their world famous rosogullas are a thing to carry back to your hometown specially packed in tin cans.

This outlet of "K.C Das Grandson Pvt. Ltd." Is located nearby the sitalatala mandir in rash behari avenue and just beside the "mosala club" outlet. This joint is medium in size but very elegantly decorated with nuclear and chique interiors. It is fully air conditioned and has a complete modern ambience unlike the other outlet of K.C Das in kalighat. Few tables and chairs are also provided to accommodate sitting and the huge flat screen TV makes sure that you don't miss out the important matches. This outlet offers almost all the similar sweets and savories which are offered in other outlets of K.C Das. The staffs are very friendly and always serves with a courteous smile in their face. Be it the legendary "Rasgollas" of KC Das or the succumbing "peas kachori" etc; everything is served with perfection and oozing with sheer quality. Overall an ideal place in this part of south Kolkata to indulge yourself into the culinary and confectionary wonders of the living legend "K.C Das" in a soothing and hygienic environment.
