Tried the buffet of Mainland China. Has 20+ items. This place serves one of the best indo-chinese food in kolkata. The buffet is quite good but not excellent. Some dishes could be better with thinner batter coatings. Dessert and starter sections are very good but main course has room for improvement especially considering the price of the buffet. Buffet is priced at ₹1045/- + tax. Would like to see some variety in main course dishes.

Situated in the South City Mall. We were 9 people. The ambience was nice. We took a weekday buffet. The cost was Rs.1075+GST. Service was good, Food was nice. The items should be revised. The taste was good, all the items were almost non spicy. But according to the food, the price was too high. We can get a good buffet in the lower price range also. Mainly China's standard dropped a bit. But for any family outing, get together, you can surely visit them.

Foods were very delicious. Wide spread of buffet (Chicken, Fish,Crab and Prawns) And it was perfect according to the pricing. I would highly recommend.

Excellent ambience and quality service....Crab and prawn in the buffet menu are a must try. For dessert, go for Darsaan if you happen to have a sweet tooth.

We went there long time back. All thou I can remember that experience was great. Food quality and quantity is good. Ambience is 10 out of 10. Management was excellent. Most recommended place for Chinese Cuisine Lovers.

If it's Chinese then it's Mainland China! We had an awesome experience in Mainland China as we went for lunch buffet @Rs 1045 per head. I gave a treat to my parents from my internship stipend and also celebrated my mother's birthday in the restaurant, as they offer birthday cakes on informing the staffs from Dariole. It was my 5th time here! Overall a nice experience with the most delicious Chinese dishes cooked!

Mainland China is one of my favourite for Sino Chinese food, fresh Bhetki & gravy vegetable chowmin is top in white sauce. Bar menu is quite exotic.

Decided to celebrate my birthday here, so we went in for lunch. every dish tasted absolutely amazing, no complaints there. The taste is worth the price. I'd suggest going in a little early because it's always crowded. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there were no tables empty. We opted for the a la carte but they have a buffet going on always and that is pretty good too. Since it was my birthday they also offered a complimentary cake and that was quite good as well. All over a very good experience, would definitely recommend.

Mainland China never disappoints in any city. The best restaurant to go for Chinese cuisine served with warm hospitality. Tried their non-veg lunch buffet, the menu had soup, salads, 5 starters, 5 maincourse and desserts. Except for the desserts, all other items were served on the table which was very convenient. Loved the clear soup, honey mustard fish starter, chicken suimui, stir fried veggies. The brownies, custard and darsan for desserts were great. The service and ambiance were great. Overall the experience was worth the money.

Love it everytime I dine there..there's no question about the quality of food. You may not remember the names but you'll surely remember their deliciousness!

Food is very light and healthy at the same time tasty most importantly they mentioned the calorie intake for each item that is great for health conscious people like me. What I missed some background Chinese music. We really enjoyed the food and overall ambience. Staffs are so professional well behaved and cooperative . Yeah little bit costly but for special day you will not regret. There dumplings are just too good. I have tasted Chinese food in many restaurants but yes mainland china is the best Chinese restaurant according to me. You can capture beutiful pictures also the outside background is perfect for that. Just go for it. Enjoy life enjoy good food.

Tried their buffet. The taste was somewhat above average, not extraordinary or something. All the items were non-spicy, a great place for light food lovers. The main course section was great compared to the starters & dessert sections.

Visited this place that is awesome . Their buffet are really good. They serve different types of chinese dishes which are really nice . The place is very calm and very refreshing good for family dining. And their food is just beyond everything really nice. One of our favorite place for dining. Highly recommended their buffet. And the price is also reasonable.

Mainland China is synonymous with the Best Chinese food in Kolkata. Thats true even in this Covid times when people are scared to go out & eat. I visited this place for dinner and I can vouch that it is maintaining all safety measures. Perfectly safe!<br/><br/>We had the 10 course meal offer at ~650 which is an awesome deal in itself. The food was stunning as well with every item maintaining the brand name & taste. My fav. being the sui mai (~momos), I really enjoyed them & had a lot! Even all the other items in this spread like the starters, chicken side dish, fried rice are excellent as well. <br/><br/>I hope more people visit this place & dont get scared. Since buffets cant happen, this is the best option. And if you think of Buffet or large meals, Barbq nation has really fallen down in safety & other aspects, so Mainland China should be the place to be visited every time. Highly highly recommended if you are in South City & looking for an excuisite chinese dinner.

We ordered crispy corn and chicken dimsum. Crispy corn was very soggy and tasteless. Chicken dimsum didn’t taste good at all. We ordered after 4.5 months in the hope of good food but were disappointed with the taste.

Yesterday I went there to celebrate my birthday. The staffs n the manager was so courteous. Their service standard and the quality of the food was actually beyond my expectations. The best restaurant I have ever visit. Even I m a hotelier so I know much better about the service standards n norms . However, it was so nice of them .. when they heard it's my birthday they got a complimentary cake n a welcome drink for all of us , which was really nice of them. Even the manager came to the table for wishing me on my birthday. Really a nice place. Would visit these place again n again. Thank you to team of MAINLAND CHINA , South City Mall.

Delighted with the quantity but highly disappointed with the taste! The fish was undoubtedly not fresh. The flavour of noodles was absolutely rubbish. Seems like Corona has really affected China. Not recommending till they bring back the quality!!!

Mouthwatering Chinese appetizers

Went there on a Friday to avail the course meal. This was my first visit to Mainland China so i was really excited. The ambience was really nice though only one section of the restaurant was open for dine in due to the pandemic.<br/>First I want to clearly mention the two reasons for giving a 4 star and not 5.<br/>*In the set menu it was clearly written Chinese Greens is the common item for both Veg ang Non Veg but it was not served to us whereas in Ballygunge outlet few of my friends went and had this menu, they were served with this dish.<br/>*The Chicken in the main course I don't know why but had a light smell deep inside, one of my friend also told the same after biting it, i think it was not fresh.<br/><br/>Rather than these two, everything were perfect, they welcomed us warmly, there was a temperature check at the entry then cleaned our hands with sanitizer, the staffs' faces were properly covered and were wearing gloves, due to social distancing they couldn't serve the food but it's absolutely correct. They were polite and repeated whatever dish we wanted.<br/>I mostly loved the starters and the desserts, they were amazing. The dumplings, the soup, the assorted chicken starter, all were excellent so we repeated the dumplings and the chicken starter.<br/>The main course was not so interesting, though one dish was missing still the chicken side dish could have been better, the fish dish was yummy and it suits well with the noodles and fried rice.<br/>The desserts were mind blowing, it consisted of the Brownie infused choco rolls,it was served hot😍, vanilla ice cream and darshaan.<br/>Total was 645 + gst for each person.<br/>Had a great experience, hope to visit again😊<br/>Dwipjoy Bhattacharya Sandeep Deb

So recently I went to Mainland China in the south city branch after this lockdown with my brother. I had planned to order the ten course lunch. <br/>After entering, temperature was properly checked and were given sanitizers. The sitting arrangements were also changed to avoid proper distance from others. The tables were sanitized in front of us and everyone wore masks. Then we ordered two ten course meal for us. <br/>Firstly they provided us Lung Fung Chicken Soup and in mocktails we ordered lime soda.<br/>For starters there were delicious diced chicken assorted pepper. <br/>Then came the basil flavoured chicken dumplings. The dumplings were so soft and delicious and we ordered them again.<br/>In mains, we had chicken in roasted garlic, mandarin fish, hakka noodles and chinese fried rice. Everything was tasty and well cooked.<br/>Lastly we had delicious honey noodles, chocolate rolls and vanilla ice cream as desserts. <br/>I recommend all to try this amazing ten course meal.<br/>

Very good taste

Mainland China, the authentic Chinese taste in Kolkata. Tried their set menu. It's unlimited. Among all items The Chicken Dimsum, Mandarin Fish, Fried Rice and Honey Noodles With Ice Cream has stolen my heart. But the other items were good too. Staffs are very courteous and professional. They tried their best to make the guest comfortable. Very soothing ambience and mild Chinese music added the charm. Overall a very nice experience. A Big Thanks Anjan Chatterjee Sir for this Awesome Chinese Restaurant. A must visit place in the city. Mainland China you guys are doing a great job.

Awesome food, great ambiance, stuffs are great to handle all customer needs, hygiene is over expectation

We were quite excited to know that Mainland China had started their own home delivery service. We hadn't had outside food for 3 months (didn't really trust the Zomato or Swiggy delivery agents after the Delhi pizza guy incident). So last Sunday, we broke our 'fast' and finally ordered food home from Mainland China. <br/><br/>Our order consisted of Konjee crispy lamb, Chicken taipei, General Tao's chicken, Burnt garlic fish with vegetables, and one order each of Mixed meat noodles and fried rice. We also ordered a dish of Honey noodles with almonds.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the overall taste of items. The lamb had too much salt, so much so that it was impossible to have it as a starter (we finally had to eat it with the rice). The chicken taipei also had more salt than required, but luckily not as much as the lamb. The other items in our lunch were satisfactory in taste. The honey noodles could have been crispier, but it tastes good nonetheless.<br/><br/>Mainland China has been a constant favourite over more than a decade now. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the lockdown, but the food didn't live upto our expectations. I hope this was just a rare bad day for them.<br/><br/>-------------------------------------------<br/><br/>Update - on complaining to the manager about the quality of food, he sent over a bowl of Konjee crispy lamb and chicken fried rice to our home free of cost. This time both the items were tasty. Full marks to Mainland China for their customer service too.

It's really a very good restaurant. You can take your whole family and friends and can spend a nice time here. The food quality is great and is delicious. The stuff are decent.

Every time I visit this place they never left me disappointed.They really serve good authentic pan asian cuisine right from dimsums to their varied range of starters and main course. Chicken Taipei is one of my favourite. But yes the prices are a bit on higher side.

Visited here today ( 13th March 2020 ) for lunch to celebrate wedding anniversary of my parents! ❤👨‍👩‍👧<br/>Ordered fried rice, stir fried prawns with greens & garlic, chicken in roasted garlic sauce.<br/>For desserts, we ordered noodles with honey & ice cream over it , sizzling brownie with chocolate sauce! They tasted mind - blowing. Lovely interior decor, soothing music, polite staffs. Great ambience. 👍☺️

I went for the weekend after lunch buffet INR 399/ PERSON that Mainland China have introduced in South city mall outlet. It was my first and definitely the last visit. All the items in the buffet was cold INSIDE OUT and it tasted really very very ordinary. Sorry to say but, That was definitely the left over of the lunch buffet of the day or yesterday's dinner buffet. When I complained them about the same they just tossed the drums of heaven into more soya sauce re-heated it and presented us cause the bone was cold and just the coating was hot and the chicken inside was just how it tasted before. Even the potato wedges had so much salt and pepper that we couldn't eat a bite which was re-served to us after I complained about the cold food. Over all, what I felt was they are serving the left overs in this buffet spread which are mostly stale and anyone who has a good taste can easily guess that. Food was too sour and cold. What I actually could eat was ice cream and darsana that's it. The roadside Chinese stall delivers better food than this. Terrible experience. I expected something great from the place. Definitely not gonna visit again.

Mainland China South City serves one of the best Chinese buffet in Kolkata. Apart from the buffet they also have ala carte menu. I opted for ala carte and tried some of their new launched food items like- PHILADELPHIA CHEESE DUMPLING    MATCHSTICK POTATOES WITH TRUFFLE OIL ,   MALASIAN CURRIED PRAWNS,   LUNG FUNG SOUP WITH EGGWHITE AND CHICKEN , SICHUAN STEAMED BHETKI WITH FRESH CORIANDER, CELERY AND CHINESE CABBAGE FRIED RICE WITH CHICKEN , CHOCOLATE DOME.<br/>I personally really liked- Philadelphia Cheese Dumplings and Malaysian Curried Prawns.<br/>Actually I can't choose because each and every dish was mind blowing. Went today with my wife and 2 year old daughter. A man was sitting beside our table and having drinks ALONE and ogling towards our table. It made us uncomfortable however we chose to ignore for sometime. He was completely drunk and scribbling on table cloth. Instead of forbidding him to do so, the waiter came up with a clipboard and paper to assist him in his writing. After our dinner was complete I went to the wash room and suddenly I heard my wife's scream. I came running outside and saw my wife shouting and shivering with anger. My daughter was crying out of fear. I came to know that the man approached my wife in an indescent manner and came in very close proximity of my wife and daughter, almost leaning over them, taking advantage of my absence. All this was taking place in the presence of all staff and management. Instead of banishing the man, he was allowed to seat there. It was clear that he was one of the regulars. They did not even came forward to comfort us. In the mean time, a waiter approached us with a tab to give our feedback. I mean WTF. When we complained they told us that they will take action. I simply do not understand how a single man was allowed to sit and consume loads of alcohol in a section frequented by family and kids. It's a shame. Will surely avoid coming to this restaurant.

Lovely taste authentic Chinese quisine lovely atmosphere

Few days ago, I visited this outlet of Mainland china with my friends to taste their authentic new chinese dishes. It is located at the 3rd floor of South City mall, so visitors dont need to spend much time locating it. I loved the ambience very much. The soft background music and proper lighting add to the perfect ambience. If that wasnt enough , sweet aroma of chinese delicacies is sure to take you to heaven. We tried their some new dishes- Philadelphia cheese dumplings, matchsticks potato with truffle oil, Malasian curried prawns, Pan fried barbequed fish, Sichuan pepper chicken with cashew nuts, Lung fung soup with egg white, Stir fried haricot beans with dry red chillies and sesame, prawns in xo sauce, Sichuan steamed bhetki with fresh coriander, double spicy chengdu chicken, celery and chinese cabbage fried rice with chicken, Singapore style noodles with Beansprouts and chocolate dome.I dont know which one is best,every items were so delicious. Best of the best item was Philadelphia cheese dumplings.

Mainland China tops my list of favourite restaurants in the town. It has been rendering impeccable service for many years and I think very few restaurants will be able to compete with Mainland China when it comes to exceptionally delicious Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is spacious with decent, dim lighting and a peaceful atmosphere. The waiters say a team prayer before serving food which touched me a lot and they're very polite. Now to talk about its excellent food in details, the Lung Fung soup was warm and soul satisfying! The soft and mellow dimsums dipped in Sichuan sauce were fingerlicking good and the added assortments and accompaniments all magnified the deliciousness of the food. I have visited Mainland China many times but I have never got bored of it because of it's beautiful ambience, service and food that keeps me hooked. An admirer for life. My best compliments to the Mainland China team! Keep up the high quality and standards!

MAINLAND CHINA is one of the best restaurants that serve authentic Chinese cuisine. They have both buffet and ala carte. No doubt on their food quality and quantity! The ambience is excellent. I would recommend everyone to try "Philadelphia Cheese Dumplings". It's extremely delicious. You can also try Double spicy chengdu chicken and lung fung soup with egg white and chicken. It's just the best place for family get-together with good food and drinks. Was worth the visit!

My recent visit to this outlet of Mainland China turned out to be one worth remembrance. Mainland China is known for it's authentic Chinese food and fine dining experience. This outlet of Mainland China is located inside South City Mall, Kolkata (3rd Floor)<br/>The restaurant consists of a fancy decor and good accommodation capacity. Staffs are extremely courteous and very helpful.<br/><br/>I tried some of the items from their newly launched menu which includes Philadelphia Cheese Dumplings (These dumplings are loaded with cheese which totally melts in mouth and are perfect appetizers), Lung Fung Soup with Egg White, Prawns in Xo Sauce, Matchstick potatoes with Truffle Oil (These were my favourite. I loved the crispiness of potatoes & were very flavourful) , Celery and Chinese cabbage fried rice, Sichuan Steamed Bhetki, Stir fried Haricot Beans, Makasian curried prawns, Pan fried barbecued fish, Singapore Style Noodles (These are very basic singpore noodles which were delicious & you will find it as a local street food in every part of Singapore), Sichuan Pepper Chicken with Cashewnuts( The chunks of chicken were tender & juicy and the roasted cashewnuts accompany it very well ) , Chocolate Dome (This is the ultimate beauty. The ultimate place for Chinese cuisine - a very favorite place of mine , have been there numerous time and every time I eat there, I feel the intensity of food is considerably above average. All cuisines are excellent. Prices are economic and affordable as per the quality of food they serve.Extremely hygienic staffs are extremely courteous and good mannered.Highly recommended.

The quality of the food is quite good. The behaviour of the staffs are truly polite. But what I personally felt is the number of items they're serving in starters are quite less, only if I compare it with the price being charged. There is no live counters which we can easily find in any buffet restaurants in this price. Overall experience was good.

I went to the restaurant and received a take away meal. It contained one plate of pepper fish and one plate of chicken in chilly sauce.<br/><br/>Sorry to say, the food was too ordinary in respect of such a fine dining restaurant. The fish was salty and the chicken was even worse. It's coating was similar to any roadside 'Chinese 'joint. It was pretty tasteless.<br/><br/>These two plates were way too pricey for their taste, quality and quantity. The bill was 1200 bucks!!!<br/><br/>I am okay with high prices as long as it provides adequate quality. It should bear the mark of speciality restaurant.<br/><br/>I was utterly dissapointed with Mainland China.

Went there to have our anniversary lunch. Took Rs 866 buffet. The food was Good, really liked their crabs, also the dessert options are too good. The cocktails whisky sour was nicely made. Will drop there soon

This restaurant is located at South City mall's 3rd floor...the ambience is cozy and nice...the staffs were very helpful and we'll behaved... coming to the food mainland China never dissapoints you cause the food is very delicious and rich in flavours with right blend of spices and we'll cooked..the price is bit high but the quantity and quality is ok for it.... overall a very good experience 😊

The chinese starter pack was really fabulous. The plates were properly cleaned and maintained and the staffs are so helpful. One complimentary cold drink was there.. we five friends visited on the last Saturday of 2019. There are also different items in the main course. For one person it is very difficult to taste all those items. One of the best buffets I have ate in Kolkata.

Went there for 1st january lunch and it gave us a big blast on the 1st day of the year. It was a lil crowded and we get our seat after 20-25mins of waiting. We opted for the buffet lunch.<br/><br/>The starters were the best part of the whole dining. 1st we had chicken coriender soup which was very tastey. They had chicken drumsticks which was nice in taste, one fish item which was exceptionally good, the prawn was the best prawn starter i have ever has, dimsums was average in taste, there was a sea food dimsums too that i did not taste, there was a duck preparations which was nice and potato chilli was beaufully prepared with perfect crisp and taste.<br/><br/>The main course portion was huge. We opted for the non veg section only. There were egg chicken noodles, fried rice,chilli crab,a lamb preparation, a chicken item, a fish and a prawn item. This section was average in taste in compare to the starter section.<br/><br/>Dessert was nice. They had fruit cake,pie cake,blueberry mouse, one chocolate pastry, four kind of ice cream with darshan and fried chocolate wanton. Mouse was nice and i liked the chocolate wantons the most.<br/><br/>Staffs were very much helpfull and polite. They helped us in choosing from a-la-carte menu for our parcel order. In parcel we had mixed hakka noodles and tsing hoi chicken. The chicken preparation was suggested by them and it was very nice. Overall a very good experience. Good Chinese restaurant.pricing is also good.quantity was decent.we ordered lamb and the chicken.they suggested us the dish name.i would say that was good.though I felt the lamb could be softer but overall it was good experience. what I liked most was the fried rice.it has a better Chinese flavor than others.and our experience from the staffs was very good.i would definitely like to go there again.

Mainland china is located in south city mall, prince anwar shah road, kolkata. Just 10 minutes walking distance from rabindra sarobar metro station. The ambience of this place is very posh and ethnic, which makes it a great place therefore to visit with your family.<br/><br/>We had availed the buffet section at the restaurant. They had chowmein, fried rice, prawn, chicken and also pomfret. The pomfret was the show stealer as it was very delicious and creamy and therefore very tasty and you could even gobble up to twenty. In the dessert section, they had a very wide range starting from ice creams to sweets and even chocolate puddings. And do i say, how delicious all of the dessert items were.<br/><br/>Rating : 4.2/5.

The last Sunday of the decade and who would want to miss out on the fine dining experience at Mainland China, South City Mall? Excellent ambience. Friendly staff. A 30 minute wait for the table was fair enough given the mad rush. And delicious food on the buffet for 1045 per person plus taxes(approx 1100 per person). I especially like their starters, the main course had fish, prawn, crabs, lamb rolls, squids to name a few. The dessert section was fantabulous with delightful plum cakes, watermelons, ice cream, brownie et al. All in all a delightful experience for our taste buds and I would surely recommend this outlet for your New Year Eve party. The food, the ambience. If you are going for Chinese, it has to be Mainland China. Happy eating!

No there is not.<br/><br/>Buffet included wide range of Starters , wider range of Main Course and even a wider range for the desserts. A real challenge for anyone who wants to taste them all.<br/><br/>Starters : Schewzan Duck, seafood Dumplings and drums of heaven was best among a wide spread of starters.<br/><br/>NonVeg Main Course : Thai chicken Curry and singapore crab curry was mentionable.<br/><br/>Desserts: Caramel Custard is a must try..It was just a little piece of heaven in your mouth.<br/><br/>We tried Long Island iced tea and it was also nice.<br/><br/>To summarize it was a sumptuous experience.. First visit to Mainland China, South City Mall for anniversary lunch after renovation. Unfortunately reached at 4 pm so option of a-la-carte only there. Tempted to taste some of the dishes in the ongoing sea-food festival however crabmeat and shrimp roasted starter not available during that time. Had to settle for crispy squid with butter and curry leaves which was very good. Ordered crabmeat soup which was again upto the mark. In the mains, cantonese rice noodles and a delicacy of lamb suggested by the chef was just too good. the item was most likely braised lamb in mahlak sauce. The staff was also courteous, Amit and Meenakshi had been taking care of us.

I found this place somehow overrated. The ambience was okay the behaviour of the staff was also good. We had taken buffet. All the dishes were okay except the Mixed fried rice it was too damn salty which can't be expected from this type of brand.

Mainland China is a great resturant. Me and my friend ordered Lung Fung Soup, Japanese Chicken Dumpling and Coconut Dumpling. The foods were really delicious. Ambience is also great. Overall, the service is too good. Looking forward to come again here.

Me and my family are regulars at Mainland China, South City Mall. This time we had decided to organise my Son's fifth Bday at this restaurant. Our experience with them is one which we are going to remember for a long time to come. Courteous staff, great food, abundance of quantity are some of the points I would like to mention here. Our guests have also praised the food and the restaurant as a whole. I would definitely like to recommend this place for a satisfying dining experience.

Had booked Hall for my son's birthday on 5th Nov. From the very beginning they helped us with decorations and Cake. The staffs had put tireless efforts to serve each and every guests enthusiastically at whatever time they reached venue. The guest were too pleased with their endeavor. The food was awesome. They even did not charge for the extra lb of the Cake. Special mention to Pan fried fish in starter and Lamb in In coriander Sauce in Main dish. Excellent food, pleasant ambience, quick service. Would like to visit one more time. It's one of our favorite restaurants. Whenever we go to Oberoi Mall, we don't look for other option but just Mainland China. The interior of the restaurant is undoubtedly fascinating.

We went there on the occasion of my husband's birthday. Starting from the table booking, it was quite easy process. The staff was very courteous & helpful. On the day we reached there a little early. They provide us a seat in no time. We opted for weekday buffet. The staff were well behaved & spontaneous. The buffet has a complimentary soft drinks too. The wide spread of main course was too good. The dessert included good varieties. To celebrate his birthday they also provided us with a small complementary cake & a mocktail. The ambience was good there.<br/>Will visit again.
