Great aromatic food with authentic Madurai taste to it! Tried the fish curry, mutton dosa and biriyani. Complimentary mutton gravy was too good! Great price for food served!

Had been to Madurai for a wedding and we decided not to miss kumar mess - the origin of kari dosai. We ordered chicken 65, pepper prawn varuval, mutton liver for starters. Other than chicken 65 everything tasted sooper good. The mutton kolambu kothu was out of the world, the best i would say and something not to be missed.

Kumar mess at madurai.I went the original outlet of the Kumar mess.Long time wait. The place to eat is little bit smaller but the staffs are very polite and arrange the places even if we go as a single person. Ordered Mutton kari dosa with Goat head kurma.Both the items are very tasty and worth a while. Cost is high though.
Oh my god the food here is just heaven everything is super tasty...the ambience is also damn nice...and everything we tasted was very very very yummy...totally worth the price...the boneless carb was next level...a place Everyone should visit at Madhurai...quantity is pretty less but the quality is extremely high so not a problem...

You will not relax and eat , they keep on bother you and no smiling face, pushing items to you.
They have parking space , but only bike can go easily ,

I have visited the sub branch of kumar mess where i have tried there signature dish kari dosai (chicken).Seriously it was damn good with the combination of salna.Curry leaves adds some more flavours to that.Then tried the stuffed parotta,where it seemed to be a complete change over.It is of triangle wrapped with the outer layer is soft, contains spicy mixed flesh.Chicken 65 boneless is of very low quantity.Totally the country style satisfied the taste buds with a reasonable price.A Must visit one😊

One of the best food spots in Madurai - lives up to all the hype and expectations and legacy. Simply amazing food. Mutton Chest Roast and crab boneless were mouth watering good. MUST TRY!
I never thought a restaurant ending with "mess" would serve such delicious food. As recommended and after reading reviews, i tried the Mutton Kola.. it's like Tunday kabab fried in the shape of balls. I am a fan of the ambur biryani so the mutton biryani was also lip smacking. The chicken roast has a nice peppery flavour with a slight touch of Kadi Patta.
Worth every money you spent here and the restaurant is so clean and the service is also quick. Must visit if you are in Madurai.
Went here after almost 8 years and consistent taste as always. The best known nonveg restaurant in Madurai known for mutton sides and thali. Tried their spare parts dosa and Fish Kolumbh it's was awesome. Don't think I will ever mis going to this place when I Visit Madurai.
Place is excellent. Food is simply outstanding. Items are authentically South Indian style. Tried their signature dishes like chicken biryani, pepper chicken, chicken dosa, chicken egg omelette. Preparations were all excellent. Food is flavourful. Staff is at its best and polite. Service is quick. Worth every money.

Very crowded eatery and they have a full exclusive non veg menu along with some specials everyday. Best stop for non veg eaters and please remember no options for veg except for one or two options. This is placed on the service road and is convenient from the main road and also has ample parking space in the service road

We had meals today. Meals taste was average only. Mutton gravy and fish gravy was not upto the level. Kuuttu, poriyal was good. Service was good.
