The cafe is well-known for its ice creams, and it definitely lives up to its reputation. The ice cream selection was incredible and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to try something new and delicious.

A must visit in Mangalore. Whenever I come here I make sure to visit this place once. I had Parafait, Ideal's Special Gadbad and Ideal's Special. All of them tasted great. I would still prefer Parfait and Special Gadbad over everything as it feels worth the price. They put atleast 3-4 scoops of ice cream and lots of dry fruits, fruits and jellies along making it a perfect dessert to have.

This joint CLOSES at 8.30PM and not as shown in google at 9pm!!! One of the famous ice cream joints in Mangalore, traditionally has been famous all around India for its Gadbad icecream. This is located in the heart of the city, hence parking is a big problem here. One has to parking their vehicles ( four wheelers) at a far off distance and come walking to this place. They offer plenty of varity in icecreams and snacks which is what makes this place still popular. The place is clean and hygienic. Service is fast. Although, the taste of icecreams are not as good as the ones that are served at their other outlet 'Pabbas'. The prices have been increased drastically over the years. They accept online mobile wallet payment methods also. All in all, its been a good experience. Would surely recommend.

Best ice cream I’ve ever tasted. Period. I’ve heard of Ideal Ice cream from my friends, but never thought I’d be blown away by it, until I tried it. Maybe because I’m not particularly a fan of ice cream as a dessert, but this one- has my whole heart. Not too sweet, yet so flavourful. We ordered the ever popular Gudbud (kesar and vanilla ice cream served with jelly, cut-fruits , and nuts) and Tiramisu. The nuts are probably roasted in ghee, and the flavours are so authentic. The portion is so right for one. Left my taste buds in absolute delight. If you’re in mangalore and you’ve not tried Ideal ice cream, you’re missing out.

Ideal Cream Parlour has variety of icecreams you will really want to try. We tried their signature Gadbad which is very classic and all time favourite along with Chocolate Fantasy which gives good cravings to add to the list. I had visited almost all outlets and this is my first experience with " Ideal Cream 🍨🍦 Parlour" located at GHS Road, Hampankatta, Mangaluru. It was an amazing experience. This place never ceases to make me happy with their quality of food and service. One must definitely try the Gadbad and Tiramisu ice-cream. The burger here is far better than the typical Burger outlets you might have visited. The ambience is good too. The waiting time might take around 15-20min as this is one of the most visited restaurants in Mangalore.

What do I say about this place? I simply love it. I would go here any day and spend some quality time with my ice cream. My personal favourites are gadbud and American choconut. Ideal has throughout the years through their famous word of mouth advertisement from citizens have flourished for good thing because their items are legend to every mangalorean from GADBAD,PARFAIT,FRUIT SALAD and also the Indian version of TIRAMISU.<br/>The irony is that as restaurants become famous and well established they tend to cut down quality and curb costs and this has clearly been the case for example fruit salad with just apples and bananas no dry fruit just 1 piece literally.<br/>Tiramisu 10yrs back used to rich with brownie layers upto 3,now just 1 and replaced with chocolate ice creams.<br/>It's bad to see such this downsizing to a well established Restaurant

We went to the smaller outlet and had some sundae with three flavors of icecream which was delicious but very less in quantity. This place might be serving the best sundae ice-cream in India! If you ever wondered what gadbad is or dismissed it as a cheesey Indian adaption of a sundae then this place will change your impression of it: it sets the bar for gadbad. Apart from gadbad, they have many other varieties of sundaes and mix ice-creams - once you try one you would find yourself coming back to try the other ones too - taste and quantity of ice-creams is fantastic and despite being exquisite they are priced at value for money rates!<br/><br/>Apart from ice-creams, they serve South and North Indian snacks too. You could try cutlet - it contains beetroot filling and is crisp.<br/><br/>The staff is friendly and courteus. One amusing thing is that servers manage to find you even though no one notes your name while placing the order!<br/><br/>They even have a RO water purifier installed which servers warm and cold water separately.<br/><br/>One thing you would notice is that every dish that is served here is somewhat different than what you get elsewhere - be it ice-creams, burgers, sandwiches or even cutlets - as though owners have gone deep into the roots and understood how a dish is actually meant to be. A mandatory visit when once comes to Mangalore. Their Parfait is been my favorite for as long as I can remember. A few of the hot selling ice creams are Gadbad, Dilkush, Chocolate Dad & Tiramisu. Worth every penny that's spent.

Legendary is the word which can describe ideals. I visit ideal on my every visit to mangalore. This is nearby railway station, and easily approachable in the city. Wish they open a branch soon in bangalore .

Ideal ice-cream has become a brand in itself. Have been eating its ice-cream since childhood and relish the tasty and smooth ice-cream. My favourite being Parfait. Tried all the varieties of ice-cream on the menu and nothing more left to try.

I've visited this place twice and would love going there again.<br/>The ones I've tried are Tiramisu, Gadbad, the Ideal Ice Cream Special and a plain Vanilla Scoop.<br/>The Tiramisu, originally a Italian pastry, served here as ice cream, is amazing, the taste of coffee blends so well with the ice cream.<br/>Gadbad was ordinary.<br/>The Special involves customising with 3 flavours of choice and the sauces(that's what they call it) to be added.<br/>The Vanilla Scoop that I tried here was among the best I've tasted in my life.<br/>Taste 4.5/5<br/>Ambience 4/5<br/>Hygiene 4.5/5<br/>Serving Size 5/5<br/>Value for Money 4.5/5

This is the worst ideal outlet in town . The ice creams do not have the quality of the other outlets . The self order policy causes confusion at times and long queue which is not the case in other outlets. Definitely needs a change in their service.

Ice creams are the best,surprisingly their snacks also won our hearts. Neeru dosa with paneer ghee roast, a famous mangalorean cuisine is a must try here. Rava masala dosa, chats, sandwich's were all equally good. And ofcourse, u can end ur meal with their super amazing ice creams... drool!!

Words would fail to describe Ideal's 'ice creams', but I shall make an attempt for sure :)<br/>Okay, so I had heard about Mangalore's most famous ice cream parlor since my childhood (by a school friend). And since then it was stuck in my mind that whenever I visit M'lore I'll make sure that I visit Ideal's and have their ice creams. And EUREKA - finally the day arrived when I was in M'lore, and immediately after finishing my lunch we started hunting for Ideal's. Within minutes we reached the place and the very next moment we had 4 ice cream delicacies on our table!! Not only did they look soooo fantastic, they taste was heavenly!! Each and every scoop in each of the dishes that we ordered was like a treat to our taste buds - sooooo fresh, creamy, perfect sugar, yet so light on tummy.... <br/>We ordered 2 Gadbad, Dilkhush, Litchi with vanilla, Parfait, Tiramisu, dry fruit cocktail and lastly ideal's special ice cream. Trust me, neither me nor my friends were disappointed with anything that we had. Instead each one of us thoroughly enjoyed each and every scoop of the ice cream... it was such a delight!!<br/>Also, the service was stupendous, the staff was so well dressed and well informed, entire parlour was spic and span. Not a single point wherein I could have said that they need to improve. Just perfect!! Wish they started their chain in Bangalore too. <br/>I loveeeddddd it...and shall visit again and again to enjoy the superb delicacies!! <br/><br/>Cheers :)

The name Ideals have become a big brand in Mangalore for serving delicious ice creams to us from so many years. I feel there is one mismatch in zomato data as this place should be Ideals cafe and not ideal ice cream parlour. Coming to my order I took parfait ice cream and mosambi juice both were too good. Just one disappointment for me at this place was when you enter you expect the Service staff to give you a glass of water but this did not happen so until you won't ask for water they won't serve this was something I dint like rest with regards to food and ambience both were too good. Hope the Service improves next time when I come here.

This definitely doesn't look like a typical Tiramisu, but this Tiramisu Ice cream from Ideal Cafe will keep getting you back for more🤗!<br/><br/>This is a delicious combination of some coffee flavoured ice cream topped with a soft layer of chocolate cake which is drizzled with chocolate sauce between each layer and to add to it you also have a scoop of vanilla and chocolate ice cream with bits of cashew nuts for the crunch and just enough of choco chips to satisfy all your chocolate cravings 😍😍<br/><br/>We also tried a bunch of other ice creams, and everything​ was worth the price, hence you should definitely try it!

Its one of the favorite place of mine during the college days.... We use to spend the sunday day time over here... We can see lots of varieties of ice cream over here... Ideal special is also awesome... Quality and quantity was good... Its a pocket friends ice cream parlour... We can spend time with the beloved ones over here....

Been to the ideal at city centre and I am dissapointed with it theflavor of gadbad isn't good and also the I got a plastic pin in the ice cream the tiramisu was good as usual,it dint seem any premium as such

This is the place were I being  Mangalorean have been there soo many times since my childhood!!!!!! Fully crowed place no matter which season it is and also the time doesn't matter at all !!!!!!!!! The taste ,the  flavours   all are at top!!!!  The Gadbad The King of Ice creams in this parlour!!!! Tiramisu is one of the best   one !!!!!!!!!( I am in love with it)!!!!!!!!!!!! Location : GHS road, just 10min from Hampankatta bus stop.<br/><br/>Ideal ice cream is one of the most famous brand Mangalore city, with some goo number of branches.<br/><br/>In my personal view, this branch is the biggest out of all. Ideal ice cream is always busy and full. <br/><br/>Service is good and fast over here. They serve cold water for drinking. <br/><br/>The ambience is fine really fine for ice cream parlour with the centralised air conditioner with a yellow colour theme.<br/><br/>As far as Pricing is concerned, it is acceptable at times.<br/><br/>But my personal feeling is that variety of ice cream could be more, the really feel bored with the menu when I sit over there and look at it.<br/><br/>They are good at Trimasu as far as my knowledge is concerned since they project only this dish everywhere inside the shop and to comment on it, Tirmasu is for chocolate and ice cream flavour lovers with crunchy choco chips with very stingy brownie on its top with some whip cream design but taste wise I love it since I am a chocolate, pastries, and ice cream lover. <br/><br/>My next favourite dish is their cake sandwich, which as the name suggests. It is a vanilla ice cream slab (they call an ice cream slice as slab) sandwiched in between two slices of some brownie like cake. The Tropical Delight from Mangalore's famous Ice cream Parlour - Ideal, Hampankatta costs Rs 120. It consists of 4 scoops of Fruit based ice creams - Chikoo, Mango, Jackfruit Payasam and coconut drizzled with some nuts, fruit sauce and whipped cream. My favourites were the Mango and Chikoo. The Jack fruit Payasam had a stronger flavour of payasam and a light jack fruit flavour, I would have preferred the opposite but great job on making such unique flavours work. Even the coconut was new to me and each flavour definitely lives up to its name. You can also go for the scoops separately but I'd rather suggest to order one of their special I'll mixes. The menu can get rather confusing and the servers say everything tastes good so no help.<br/><br/>The Tiramisu might be the most ordered item on the menu and comes layered starting from the bottom with vanilla ice-cream with a layer of chocolate chips then chocolate ice-cream with another layer of choco chips and a good serving of coffee flavoured ice-cream topped with chocolate cake and whipped cream. Do you need any more reasons to order this, and quantity wise I don't think you'll be willing to share this with anyone. If you're confused about their menu just go with the Tiramisu and you won't be dissapointed.

This place may not be worth all the hype it gets but It's definitely one of the most extensive ice cream menus i've seen 😂<br/>I took the Chocolate Dad and Sandy Nuts and I must say, more than the ice cream itself, the nutty gritty goodness of whatever dry fruits and nuts they make is what I loved the most!

I have so many good words to write about this wonderful cafe. I would definitely have rated it 5 but I have some issues with it. 1. The servings of idli+vada and sambar are a-la-carte on the menu. One has to choose if he needs sambar with them and if he does, needs to pay extra for it. This is South India, isn't it? why the rules are like other regions of India where Sambar is rare. <br/><br/>2.  With so much staff, all they can add is provide waiters to take orders instead of making the customers wait for their turn at the counter.<br/><br/>It's not always complaints. I have developed a special liking toward buns in Mangalore. Ideal cafe serves them and they are good too. But the highlight of the day was the cool weather post a good rain and the ice creams. From the traditional gadbad  to the latest tropical delight, we had everything to fuel our bodies.  It was a good experience.

This one is yet another outlet/branch of the very famous ideal icecream and is located in hampankatta one of the most busiest area of Mangalore. Coming to menu its the same as other outlets with ice cream, sandwiches etc. Service is great and the place is tidy. Next time when you are in Mangalore do pay a visit here and savour one of the best ice creams in the state.

This place has been our hangout zone ever since we were kids and been to this part of Mangalore. A varieties of ice creams to choose from. The taste is always been up to the mark. But this time when I went to this place I found that the taste was not like the ones we used to have before . things were altered . still for the years of memories with this place I rate it 5/5. This place is an ice cream hub. And one of my favourite places in mangalore after pabba's.<br/>The serve the best ice creams in the city. <br/>Have been here quite a few times. The ambience is decent. The service is fast and very good.<br/>Talking about food, i love their chocolate dad, tiramisu, banana split and gadbad ice cream varieties.<br/>They also serve wonderful masala chais and some decent sandwiches. Over all, a must visit place for ice cream lovers.

If at all you guys land up in Mangalore, pay a visit to Ideal!!! Worth it. There are two parlors at the same location with the same name. In Mangalore, both Pabbas & Ideal ice cream are the Trade mark in regard with ice cream.<br/><br/>So everyone in Mangalore should have tried it , new comers or tourist who visit mangalore generally try this place. there are good number of branches all over mangalore.. <br/><br/>Coming to taste , <br/><br/>both ideal & pabbas have the same menu of ice cream , taste & serving style etc.. ( Im sure that both these brand are in some relation )<br/><br/>But wen it comes to taste, its all just OK , not worth for the hype here, after tasting ice creams from worlds leading makers like Häagen-Dazs , Mövenpick etc. <br/><br/>We can try this ideal or pabbas just once for taste, <br/><br/>They even serve snacks , burgers, sandwich which is good in taste.. Ideal time of visit wil be good if it is in evening.<br/><br/>I loved the MACHINE GUN which was served here, which is really good with coleslaw, crispy french fries etc.. YUMMY

Machine gun! Yes it's a dish in ideal cafe. Though it's famous for ice creams but machine gun is like the cherry on the top. The coleslaw that's between the buns and the crispy french fries between is just scrumptious. Must try. And it's cheap too. Couldn't rate it lower!

A visit to Mangalore without a visit to ideal ice cream parlor is always incomplete!!! This has been the usual go to place over the last 20 years. They have created a benchmark for ice creams which is pretty hard to beat, unfortunately this year it was very disappointing to see the standard of ice creams at this place was way below the standard that they have set for themselves . I hope and pray that this is not a start of a downward trend for this ice cream parlour which has over the years cultivated a cult like following among its patrons ..<br/>I still have hopes that they can salvage this small hiccup and get back to standards that they have set for themselves ... <br/>I tried the usual gadbad which this place is famous for, unfortunately the ice cream was not upto the mark and also the ingredients like fruits and dry fruits were relatively less And not good..<br/><br/>We also tried the dry fruit cocktail which was OK but didn't have a lot of dry fruits it had mostly anjeer and the taste was just about OK!!<br/><br/>Request to management : please do not ignore your first parlor in the quest to spread your wings across the city and compromise on the quality and standards !!!

My second visit to Ideal. <br/>Service is pretty quick here despite the place always being full.<br/>It's not too pricy, some of the items in the menu would be double the price in Bangalore.<br/>So here's a review of what I ordered-:<br/>Fried Rice- It was okay. Not as good as the one you would eat in a Chinese outlet. Quantity is filling. You get a Manchurian type gravy along with it.<br/>Machine Gun- A name on the menu you would definitely read twice. So it's a hot dog bun stuffed with mayo, shredded carrot and French fries!  The crispiness of the fries, freshness of the carrot, and sweet, cold mayonnaise works wonderfully well in your mouth. <br/>Tiramisu:- First time I am trying a tiramisu. I was expecting a chocolate delight and sadly I didn't get that. It was good, but I did read a few reviews here so my expectations were high. The chocolate punch was lacking and ice cream was over-powering. Definitely filling though.

After shopping on the busy hot streets of mangalore hampankatta, with the sweat pouring down your face and all that humidity this place comes to your rescue. Been here a million times since I was born. An amazing unique ice cream experience you will never get to be a part of anywhere else. I opted for a the gadbad special. Was just out of the world as usual. Three different scoops of ice cream with lots of dry fruits and fresh fruits blended perfectly. You can come to this place over and over again and never get bored. When they speak about mangalore they speak about ideal.

Good place for snacks and ice-creams.. Since its near the temple, it's always tempting to go have a quick snack.. Cutlet, samosa, rava dosa are decent enough... Ice-creams are great, many new flavours have been introduced and I love 'em all.. But the few chats and rice items like biryani, fried rice, etc that they offer fails to satisfy lacking in the aroma and taste.. Otherwise, a good place to go with family or friends..
