Review Hotel Laxmi Nivas - Mangalore

"Lakshmi Nivas KT Hotel," serving since 1952, is a vegetarian restaurant renowned for its unique Chai named "KT." Originating from Kalladka, Karnataka, KT (Kalladka Tea) boasts a distinct taste with a visible separation of milk layers and tea decoction. The preparation involves a meticulous layering within the tumbler—thick milk at the bottom, followed by the tea or coffee decoction in the middle, and a frothy milk layer on top. This distinct layering not only showcases the skillful preparation but also allows patrons to visually appreciate the separation of each component. The final touch involves the server stirring the layers with a spoon just before serving, completing the marvelous technique. The unique combination of flavors, the clear distinction between milk and decoction layers, and the engaging presentation make KT a standout beverage! Priced reasonably, this tradition has been upheld by the Holla family for over 70+ years. Srinivas Holla now continues this legacy. During my visit, I tried KT, Mysore Masala Dosa, Goli Baje, Sanjeera, Biscuit Rotti, and Juice. While KT lived up to its reputation, Biscuit Rotti was a letdown, and Sanjeera stood out for sweet enthusiasts. The restaurant offers a wide variety of vegetarian dishes, with reasonable pricing. The dosa was good, though the ambiance was moderately maintained, and the service followed a traditional approach. But overhyped but don't let you down for the penny spent! The ongoing road construction near Kalladka contributed to a dusty and noisy environment. Overall, a mixed experience with some highlights and areas for improvement.

Laxmi Nivas KT Hotel in Kalladka is a hidden gem, recently renovated for a refreshing stay. While the road is in progress, the journey to this cozy spot is well worth it. Indulge in the unique KT (Kalladka Tea) – a delightful concoction with a visually appealing half glass of milk seamlessly blended with the other half filled with flavorful tea. The morning breakfast spread boasts a delicious South Indian style featuring dosa, idli, poori, and vada. Nestled in the heart of Kalladka main city, the overall experience at Laxmi Nivas KT Hotel is simply delightful.

The original place popularly called as KT hotel has the same charm with the newly renovated building! It’s the exquisite taste that remains constant throughout the years which attracts the customers. KT is an interesting tea/coffee that creates 2 separate layers on your cup. My favorites are the ever green masale dose, Sanjeera and buns. Don’t forget to try their special thuppa dose as well.

Lakshmi Nivas KT Hotel offers a delightful experience with their exceptional special tea that's a must-try for tea enthusiasts. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere. The diverse menu caters to various palates, satisfying both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. While the food was delectable and the service efficient, the only drawback was the parking facility, which needs improvement. Finding a convenient parking spot was a bit of a hassle. Nonetheless, the overall culinary experience was delightful, and I will definitely return for their unique tea offerings.

Food ***** Ambiance ***** Staff **** Cleanliness n Hygiene **** Price ***** Value for money ***** This was a small old hotel with tiled roof which was like lost in time but now they have built a complete new hotel in the same old location it's self and it's well done with good ambience, amply space and very clean like before. It now has AC room and wash rooms also. Quality of food and beverages like malt, tea or coffee is same. It's a must visit location if you pass by this route. Do try their thupa dose. Bikers will b happy with the parking space now...

Very subtle and famous kalladaka tea is served like tea decoction first then milk. Not too sweet, hence you want to drink more. They have variety of snacks too. Good spot for a quick break during your journey.
