Visited this place for a quick meal while waiting for someone to arrive. The flight was delayed and we dropped in for a quick bite. The music was a tad loud a the service was quite slow. We just some starter , dal and naan. Didn't have much time left, since the service was slow.

The Dal was the best part of the evening. Rest everything was quite average.

Didn't enjoy it too much.

Baluchi specialises in North Indian food.lovely peaceful ambiance and well trained courteous staff.we went on a sunday afternoon and it was quiet full.they have set menu as well as a la carte.i went for al carte.
What i ordered
Gucchi aur mushroom galouti.:it was recommended by the server.some how i dint like it at all.it was very bland and not as per my liking.totally avoidable 2/5

Subj akhroot seekh kebab:the kebab were very tasty well cooked and accompanied by salad onion chutney which was amazing 3.5/5

Paan biryani:it is one of the best biryani i had in recent time.good fragrance and flavour of paan.really enjoyed it.portion size was good 4/5

Black daal:very yummy 4/5

Overall superb experience.loved the ambiance of the hotel too

Great place for non veg lovers, especially mutton. My son is a choosy eater and usually doesn't eat much whenever we go out but here he overate. For non veg did we wanted to eat mutton chops which was not in the menu but the chef came out, spoke with us and got it made as per our choice and I must say it was one of the best Chops I ate- soft, succulent, and flavorful.
Other dishes were also awesome and to top it all we got complementary dessert.
Being a restaurant in five star hotel the ambience is great. While waiting You can spend time in hotel lobby. There's live performance of Hindi songs and you make requests.
Overall a good experience and had great time.

Baluchi is probably the best restaurant at the Lalit and rightly so. Having visited the Baluchi a number of times in Delhi, I had high hopes and must say my experience at the one in Mumbai was a fulfilling one. We ordered vegetarian fare - mulligutawny shorba, subz akharot ki seekh for starters and paneer khada masala and Dal Baluchi for mains with a roti basket. The Akharot ki seekh was the highlight of the meal, loved it! While paneer is a must in the meal with my kids and was great no doubt, the Dal Baluchi was delectable! The service was warm.. The live music and the art adorning the walls makes the ambience warm and truly Indian!

This place is great for a family lunch or dinner. Amazing ambience with very friendly staff. The food was tasty and enough in quantity. I would definitely suggest the angoori rasmalai.

I loved Dal Baluchi the most I think it's their signature dish. All other items also were good with aromatic delicious spices. Ambience is perfect.

We visited Baluchi to celebrate our anniversary. The place is very well made. Very clean and neat. The staff was very helping. Coming to food - we had ordered Akrot sheekh kabab which were really well made. In main course navratan kofta were awesome. We had really good peaceful time. Live music was very nice. Singer had a great voice.
Festivals are part and parcel of India and there are many places around Mumbai who celebrate the spirit of many such small but impact full festive season. I recently visited The Lalit where Balluchi is carrying out special Baisakhi feast for a week long time. Started three days ago and will be happening till 23rd April. They had a menu which included Speciality food like Lassi, chaas in drinks and Shorba in soups and the list is endless.
I tried few items from their menu like in soup I tried the chicken Shorba and the flavor were so rich I could actually distinguish all the matter that was used to prepare it. Very refreshing. And as summers are on the uphold I would recommend you guys to try out their Bunta soda and chaas for that matter.
In appetizer bhatti kaa kukkad was the best nonveg appetizer as the juicy and scrumptious chicken made in Tandoor was an ultimate succulent to my taste buds.
The best meal is of course the main course and we tried some dal makhani which is a must thing to try when you have such festive special menu but what really caught my attention was the Rara gosht which was so well made as usually mutton is either overcooked or undercook but there preparation was touchwood up to the mark. Also try out their kulcha which are soft and stuffed well. Baisakhi feast can't go wrong without sarson kaa saag and they to didn't disappoint.
In desserts, they served us with chilled gulaab di kheer which was the rice pudding topped with gulaab flakes and essence which could be felt in every bite.
Overall I would say the experience is really good. Though dal makhani was not astonishing because I had tired better one before but Rara gosht stole my heart and gulaab di kheer also was fabulous.

The brand is celebrating Baisakhi festival for ten days, and we were invited for a food tasting session.

The Principals:

============================================

We were greeted by my old friend – Eshita Desai – the newly inducted marketing manager of the place. A young and cherubic personality, Eshita is entrusted with the charge of handling the complete marketing activities of the property, including its six restaurants.

And we were also regaled by the Executive chef Parimal Sawant. Parimal, who has done his Hotel Management from Sophia Polytechnic came across as an enthusiastic and a down to earth persona and has marquee brands like Taj Mahal Palace, The Orchid, The Renaissance, and a few others.

The Platter:

============================================

The platter was an eclectic full course meal starting with Kukkad da Shorba (4/5), which was a clear soup with bits of chicken within. The Achari Paneer (4.5/5) was a fantastic treat, what with lavishly slathered with the tangy achaar, and then char-grilled. The Bhatti da Kukkad (4.5/5) was equally delightful, with the chicken being succulent enough to be easily torn off the bone.

The Mains comprised Dhabe da Kukkad (4/5), a thick creamy gravy of chicken, Raara Gosht (5/5), a finely deep cooked lamb preparation (though it could’ve done itself well by adding a wee bit more spice), Sarson da saag (5/5) which was sooo aptly fitting within the scenario that it would have been conspicuous by its absence. There was Pindi de chhole (4/5), as good as they came. The Makhani dal (5/5) on the other hand was a creamy and delicious affair. The Gosht Pulao (4.5/5) added elan too to the entire affair.

The accompaniments, Bante Ki Soda (4/5) was a refreshing and fizzy lemon drink. And the Phirni (3.5/5), infused with a fragrance of rose and topped with saffron strands, was just about there.

The Postlude:

============================================

Excellent preparation, excellent presentation, excellent settings. I had been there in july 2018. The restaurant was good but food could have been better.
The taste doesn't justify the price. There is scope of improvement.

Well the gravies were amazing , simply amazing .
Much better then then the cafe in Lalit , one dont expect good indian taste in a 5 star restaurant but it had it

Good food. Not exceptional.
Very Good service.
They had live music which wasn't too loud so that was good.
Decor is decent - nothing too flashy

A great ambience with live music to go with. Food no doubt is excellent. I opted for the a la carte menu which didn't disappoint me, their chicken starter was lip smacking traditional decor sothens your mood and sets up a delightful ambience. A complete mughlai cuisine combined with the lalit experience. Will surely visit here again.

Visited the place last year. Has a very earthen and soothing ambience. Needless to say, their dal baluchi is a must must try. Paneer tikka was lip smacking too. Would love to visit the place again.

Baluchi is known for its authentic taste and flavour, I had visited this place couple of times and hence adding my review's. Over all a great experience, I loved tandoori chicken, butter chicken and biryani. Offcourse, ambience will play a role since its a 5star chain - the Lalit, you can expect courteous staff, tasteful flavours and a great experience.

This is one place I will always swear for food. Talk to chef there for recommendations and you will be served with mouth watering stuff. However never miss Daal Baluchi and Veg Galuti there. My personal thanks to Mr Singal, Chef Parimal and Chef Andaleeb.

Good food, service and excellent taste . Authentic Indian food

Staff serving you there are awesome people.
It was a great experience. Live music, brilliant food and it is very kids friendly . Overall a nice place to hang out for dinner. Chef Hureshi comes and asks about how you liked the food or not. The attendants also make sure you have a good time. We ended our dinner with a pan served in a small glass cup. It is expensive but worth going.

A good place for India food near International Airport

The food was very good and the service was attentive and courteous. I went at lunch time and was initially considering the “a la carte” menu but finally decided to go for the non-vegetarian thali and was not disappointed. They have 2 Thali options Economy and Premium, and in each you can opt for vegetarian or non-vegetarian variations. The main difference between Premium & Economy was there was a wider choice of non-veg dishes ( ie both chicken and mutton/lamb, etc). Since I was looking for a relatively lighter meal I went for the Economy option. The thali I chose included chicken kebabs, chicken curry, dal, 2-3 vegetarian dishes and yoghurt (raita). There was options for Roti/Nan ( Indian breads) and rice. For starter there was soup & papads. Finally there was Gulab jamun for desert.

The food was very good and great value for money (considering its in a five star hotel).

Not the best place to celebrate a special occasion. Visited to celebrate my aunt's 76th birthday despite informing them during booking the hotel being a 5 star made no special arrangement for a complimentary dessert or greeting the guests on their birthday. In fact immediately after we were seated the asked us if we had any discount coupons (may be thats how they decide how to treat the guest). Anyway we used zomato gold offer and mentioned above the hotel treated us accordingly. We had to ask for the Pan after our meal and that's when they got it. Not a hospitality experience expected from a luxury dining place. Anyway. Food was good and staff was attentive. Barely saw any crowd at the hotel on a Sunday evening also.

Ordered two biryani! Loved the food, service!
We were at Lalit for a conference, on request they served the food pretty quick!

Will surely visit again!

Until yesterday, I had no clue about my hidden Bengali persona. A Bong who is proud of the gondhoraj lebu, fights for the juicy and flavorful potato in the curry, and devours hot luchi with payesh. Well, that is the power of good food.

The 'Amar Sonar Bangla' (my golden Bengal) food festival at Baluchi, Lalit Mumbai is where all the magic unfolds. National award-winning executive chef Madhumita Mohanta transports you to the fertile lands of West Bengal famous for its literary and revolutionary heritage. She has come to Mumbai with her own arsenal of ingredients all the way from Lalit Kolkata.

The non veg thali consists of ghee bhat , choler dal, chicken dak bangla, railway lamb curry, mustard fish (her mother's recipe and a must try!) , gondhoraj mangsher chop , hot luchi , gurer payesh, and aampora sherbot.
So if u want to visit Kolkata but travelling is not an option right now, do yourself a favor and visit Baluchi.

Details:
Baluchi, Lalit Mumbai, Airport Road
25th August to 3rd September

Overall rating: 5/5

Happy hogging!

(Make sure to follow #hogggitup on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for more)

What worked: Truly luxurious experience. Keep up the good and hospitality.

What didn't: Wait times were unbearable. My manager would have dozed to sleep.

Visited Baluchi, The Lalit Mumbai's premier restaurant for the Culinary Pop-Up with Executive Chef Tanmoy Majumder and his team from The Lalit Resort Goa serving Goan specialties. The menu is inspired by Hindu and Catholic recipes from Goa that have been handed down over generations.

My favorites we're the rawa fish fry, the prawn curry and the tangy but delicious mutton vindaloo in the mains. Dodol n bebinca in the desserts were my favorites. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

My husband had reserved a table for us at this place through the zomato app and in the special request had also mentioned that was celebrating a special occasion.
It was a weekday and hence the place was quite empty with hardly 2-3 tables full.
The most disappointing part was the staff and the service. when asked for help for ordering dinenr the staff was quite indecisive and was not able to guide us through. however on ordering they informed us that it would take around 20 minutes for the food to get served and we were like ok.
However it took them 30 minutes to serve especially when the restaurant was not running full. Imagine what would be the waiting period when it was full.
Neways we ordered the black dal and roti to begin with. Even though after waiting for so long the wait was not worth it.
After the dinner when my husband reminded the manager to get the birthday cake, after saying a yes the manager went away and never came back with the cake; instead the waiter came with a cheque that too making us wait for 15 more minutes.
The place, food and service was truly very very disappointing.

Armed with Zomato Gold we decided to try this upscale restaurant at The Lalit but were disappointed. We have had better non veg fare at smaller places. Actually it seemed the server was not very familiar with the dishes. When we asked asked for a non veg starter they served a gravy dish which had capisicum onions and other vegetarian fare in that dish. We were expected a dry item to munch on. Later we ordered the murg akbari ran which was really good and tasted well with rice. However the garlic nan that came along was just like any other regular nan we get at local restaurant, nothing great. For deserts we ordered angoori rabdi which was pretty okay as well. I've had similar tasting rabdis in local sweet shops and far better rabdis at high end restaurants so nothing great here as well. Overall a very average experience for the 5k we spent there.

A authentic North Indian cuisine restaurant. But I was not impressed by the quality of the food . And the service was also slow. The waiters seems they forget their duties. Only one girl who there who was handling from welcoming guests to service and cleaning the tables also other then her no one was bothered enough of their guests. The live ghazal is the face saver for a pleasant evening. The management will have to look into the staff affairs and take serious note of it. I will give only 2 stars 🌟 🌟 for food 🥘 one more star is given only for the hard work of that North East lady staff.

One-line headline – Drooling Goan Cuisine Comes Alive with Susegado Mumbai food festival at The Lalit.

Xacutti. Recheado. Xeque xeque. Ambot tik. Feijoada. Sorpotel. Never before would you have been so semantically food stumped. Amidst the whiff of coconut, the hiss of an oven and the sizzle in a wok, The Lalit Hotels prime restaurant Baluchi is faltering with inflexion and diphthong of typical Goan dishes. It’s time to feast with the array of the Goa’s culturally rich cuisine carefully curated by Executive Chef Tanmoy Majumdar (and his team). Believe me the visit will surely be etched out as a fond memory for a lifetime.

Minute detailing has been kept in mind. The ambiance has been revamped to get the Goan beach feel. Vintage wine bottles adorn the stacks to enhance the Goan backdrops. Famous Goan melodies play in the backdrop.

You are welcomed and garlanded with a beautiful creative sea-shell neckpiece (unlike a floral garland). And yes, this is a keep-sake memory from the stables the Lalit Hotels group for you. Such subtle gestures speak volumes of the Limitless Hospitality of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group.

Kudos to Mr. Keshav Suri, Executive Director - The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, to come up with this enticing brainwave / Concept of Executive Chef Pop-up to cross-promote Executive Chefs and bring to life the various flavours of India in their hotel properties. The buzz is strong that the group has an amazing line-up of never-done before food festivals. The Susegado Mumbai food festival at The Lalit will be on from 21st to 30th July 2018. Make sure you experience the true unmatched and scintillating flavours.

My strong recommendations on what to eat:

The kokum sherbet is slurpy, tangy and sets the mood right.

Soup:
Soapa de camarao – Potato and prawn soup with garlic chips. The perfect warm-up for a meal. You will surely get a whiff of the subtle garlic and the black pepper powder that soothes your palate.

Starters:

Ravas Fried fish – make sure you blend your bites with the two chutneys which add a sensational tinge to the otherwise bland ravas fish.

Fofos de peixe – This Portuguese inspired dish is unique in its own way. Yes, the chutneys come in handy.

Main Course:

Mutton Vindaloo – a true masterpiece. Chef Tanmoy has conjured up the most exotic flavours which I personally haven’t experienced on all my trips to Goa. The mutton pieces are succulent but you will surely gulp down the gravy to keep reviving the tangy tingy hit it gives you at the end.

Chicken Xacuti – another super-hit. The spices and condiments are rich and flavourful. We were told that some of the spices n herbs are actually grown in the Hotels gardens.

Prawn Balchao – A variation to the dishes above. The taste was outstandingly good and the portion of prawns served was very lavish

Brown rice

Desserts:

Bebinca – This is the Queen of Goan desserts. I still remember the first time I sampled Bebinca more than ten years ago at a South Goa luxury hotel buffet. In terms of taste and texture at The Lalit Hotel, it was nothing like any dessert I’d ever eaten in India.

Dodol – you could easily mistake it for a fudge but it’s way beyond that. This popular Goan sweet is soft, sweet, texture like pudding. It just melts in your mouth leaving a burst of flavors on your mouth palette.

Alebelle – this is a Goan coconut and jaggery filled pancake. It’s a perfect not-so-sweet dessert that you can feast on endlessly.

While you have endless restaurants serving the Goan cuisine, The Lalit group has surely ensured that you get the true, authentic and rustic flavours..obviously with the best catch of the season.

So make sure you catch this festival before it gets over!

A nice fine dine setup with live ghazal scene. Went to this place with cousins. Ordered the following:

- Subz makkai ki seekh
- tandoori bharwan aloo
- dal lasooni tadka
- dum ka paneer
- roti ki tokri
- kesari malai kulfi

Everything was delicious and very well cooked/prepared. Great ambience, staff/service too.

Used Zomato gold and got a bill of around 3k split between 4 people. Not bad at all for a 5 Star! Would surely go back with family.

A perfect place to get an authentic pan Indian delicacy. Fresh food. Had ordered paneer kadhai, Dal Baluchi and rumali roti. The food definitely lived up to the expectations. Courteous staff and great interiors. A great choices to go when you feel like going back home.

Baluchi- as it's believed 5 star foods are never good.. Baluchi negates that belief, yummiest North Indian food I have ever had in a five star. Ambience is good but the live classical singer and tabla player are simply spectacular. They made my evening .Moreover the staff is amicable including the chef. Dishes to try is - paan biryani with special chefs hung curd and dum paneer.

Baluchi is a part of The Lalit. It is a fine dining restaurant which serves Awadhi Style dishes.

Ambiance (4.5/5):

The ambiance, interior and decor here makes one feel Indian, it gives you old-fashioned culture feeling. They have live music of Indian Ghazal with good medleys of songs and the experience is really marvellous.

Food (5/5)

Kudos to Chef Husban Qureshi who makes sure that you are well looked after and the dishes are lipsmacking. Right from the starters to the deserts. Dal Baluchi is a must try here.

Service (4/5)

Courteous & Humble Staff with Swift Service. Staff here welcome you with "Namaste".

Value for Money (4.5/5)

All the dishes were plentiful when it came to eminence and magnitude. So dinning experience was really bad. Waiter was not trained properly. We were waiting for our 2nd breadbasket for 15minutes, which we were told first that they won't be able to provide. Try not to dine here.

Very Nice food , Starters paneer Tikka was very yum n fresh ... main course was too good with veggie and real soft Naans / Kulchas ... complementary B’day pastry was icing on a cake ..👍 must visit ..

Reputation is a worrisome partner for any establishment. The pressure of having to live up to it hangs over it like the proverbial damascus sword. However, Baluchi, the Indian restaurant at The Lalit seems to be quite unmindful of this! Not because they don't have one, possibly because they won't loose one! That actually sums up our dinner experience here last Friday.
In celebration of Baisakhi, the restaurant had curated a solely theme based fare thereby relinquishing their most touted dishes. So, it was only the festival special menu that was on offer. We found that their vegetarian menu and preparation matched our expectations far more than the non vegetarian ones. It was likewise with the drinks menu, the traditional shikanjvi named Banta ka Thanda, scoring over the vodka based Paani Puri. In fact, barring the Harbour Bar at the the Taj, I doubt if anyone else has perfected this drink! Distasteful does not even sum up my experience! The paani puri was far too oily and did not blend in with the Absolut vodka that I had requested for(rejecting their Smirnoff that was on offer). The manager's conciliatory words post dinner did little to undo the damage as he kept repeating that Smirnoff would be the better choice, yes, that is hard to swallow though! Both literally and metaphorically!!
Now for the food, the starter Bhatti da Kakkad, lived upto the expectations. The portion was adequate for two, well cooked, flavourful and appealing to the sight. The same cannot be said of the Mutton Da Rarrah, which tasted alright and to be fair the Mutton was well cooked. However, with an establishment such as the Baluchi, one would expect better quality, innovation and much better plating. But that was not to be. The naans and the makki do roti were average too, one could get to eat these at half the price in a second tier restaurant and be more satisfied perhaps.
Even the service left a lot to be desired. We had to frequently gesture to the waiter for his attention, remind him to clear the plates and glasses... and actually not peek over our shoulder while giving feedback on the iPad that was brought to us. It was funny that the device was covered with a plastic sheet that was keen to peel off and tested our typing speed and skill! What he was good at was taking our pictures though. Honestly, more professionalism and well trained, unobtrusive service is what one would expect from an establishment like The Lalit. That is the problem with reputation. If one does not strive to retain the perfection or near perfection that one has managed to attain, it can fall apart like a pack of cards in no time and over one dinner.
The ambience is good, with some attention paid to retain the flavour of Punjab as was the live music, until they chose send them away at 10.45 and preferred playing a fusion bhangra on the loop! The staff at the foyer were largely disinterested, as was the lobby, rather cheerless.
Overall, not too impressed would think twice before visiting again...

Baluchi is a part of The Lalit, Located at Andheri East, Sahar Airport Road. It is a fine dining restaurant which serves North Indian and Mughlai Cuisines.

Ambiance (4/5):
The ambiance, interior and decor here makes one feel Indian, it gives you traditional culture feeling. This place and staff here are very polite, friendly and attentive. Restaurant has proper indian ambiance and culture with the singers sitting and singing indian songs and playing tabla and harmonium, copper crockeries and an indian food menu. Food is great too. We ordered cheese garlic naan, kulcha and kadhai paneer and all were so awesome specially kadhai paneer. It became very tough to leave any gravy in bowl, it was that tasty. Cheese garlic naan luckily dint had rubbery cheese, it was all soft, fresh and tasty. Rates are a bit high but it is not a surprise as it is in The Lalit. A definitely must go place

The decor of the restaurant is really nice. Very copper looking ambience with nice traditional Indian music in the background. Being a five star hotel restaurant can be on expensive side if you are going without a QUICKPERKS discount.

Nice punjabi food. We ordered koftas, kebabs and dal Baluchi (Black dal) which turned out to be the highlight of the night.

Overall, we had a very nice experience and a good time with quality food.

With a price inclusive of all taxes we got 20% Discount on bill using my QUICKPERKS Discount Card. Thanks to QP!

A sophisticated restaurant prefect for family celebrations.
For Drinks go for the Zeera Arab and be pleasantly surprised with this Pineapple preparation.
For Starters we went for the Ajwani Paneer Tikka and the Hare Mutter Ki Seekh which was melting in the mouth.
For Main Course we went for their signature Dal Baluchi (their signature black dal) and Bhuna Saag (a dry vegetable of Palak) accompanied by a break basket.
Apart from the lip smacking food, great ambiance and the courteous staff, the cherry on the cake was the chef personally taking our feedback on the food and even sharing the recipe of the delicious bhuna saag.
Ameya Oke
A sophisticated fine dining place at The Lalit. As expected, quite expensive but the place is listed on Zomato Gold. The menu is quite limited, more so for Vegetarians. Had a non-veg chicken starter and a non-veg main. Starter was good & the mains were ok. All in all a good place to be with your family on a weekend. (They also play live music).
Gaurav Jeet Singh
Went to Baluchi yesterday and ordered a Akbari Murg Raan with Lassoni Naan. Quite an average meal and for the price I will rate it a poor average at that.
Limpid naan which looked half done and looked like something that had been lying around for sometime.
The chicken dish too had a gruel like consistency and not a dish that should be on a limited menu that Baluchi has.
The service is poor and lacklustre. The staff could do with a bit of a training.
Aditya Srivastava
Had gone there on a weekend evening for dinner with friends. The restaurant as such is nothing fancy but the Hotel lobby more than makes up for it. Coming to food, the options were pretty limited but really liked the starters. The fish was very well done and the famous Daal Baluchi didn't disappoint. Overall the food was decent but nothing extraordinary.
Radhika Sharda
Recently had a vegetarian buffet at Baluchi. No doubt Lalit's interior is amazing. Baluchi restaurant had a simple Punjabi style look and good music. However, Expected a lot better food. Talking of the basic Punjabi meal, Paneer was very hard to eat and the very common Dal Makhani was also not up to the mark. If someone is looking to eat good North Indian food and not at a 5 star, I would suggest skipping this place. Not a value for money. Can get a better meal at half the price anywhere in the city.
Nisha Bagla Sonthalia
Well this one was long on my waiting list n this is how it went..
Very simple decor ,great ghazal music not too loud n good selection of songs..
Service is the biggest disappointment-water served after15mins and repeated requests..expresso martini served after serving starters though others got their beers instantly..rice n vegies not served to all in repeat servings..
Now the most important Part-food!
Nadru ke seekh kabab-chef recommendation;delicious;dont miss this one out

Dal baluchi-deliciousness in a bowl;again a must order
Mix veg-spicey but yummy
Dum paneer-decent one
Paan biryani-again a signature here and worth the try

Dinesh
Amazing food , great taste, live music and courteous staff is all it takes to be a fine dine restaurant. Was there today for my favourite stew with Appam. Vegetable dum biryani was next to come. Enjoyed both to the core. Overall a great experience. Down side - they took too long a time to serve these 2 dishes.

The Baluchi at the LaLit is an excellent choice for North Indian food, right up the league with ITC's Dum Pukht.

We visited on a weekday and the place was empty. There was live old Bollywood music being played. The service was slow and I found it to be inferior to what you'd expect at a Fine Dine, but not bad by any standards.

Recommended Dishes:
Veg Seekh Kebab - Really well made and tasty.
Paan Biryani - It was alright. It was fragrant and flavourful but not as good as Dum Pukht.
Dal Baluchi - Definitely one of the best black daal you can have in Mumbai. Very rich.
Garlic Naan - Excellently made!

Average Dishes:
Dum Ka Paneer - It was alright. Not great. A typical paneer vegetable in thick gravy.

The overall damages for the above would typically be above Rs. 2500, however you can save some money using Zomato Gold. This place is surely worth a visit if you crave for authentic North Indian.

Worse service ever ....is this a 5 star or some Irani restaurant the guy taking our order seems to be ready to fight ,he is behaving as if to say y the hell are u here ...his name is Avinash ...

One more box ticked in my bucket list. Awesome Fine dining experience . Good food , great ambience , nice live music and excellent personalised service . Ordered the famous daal and it was super delicious ( don’t count the calories though) . Disclaimer - I only ordered one dish and hence my rating could be biased ) . Would like to visit again to try some dishes...

The Ambience is so Colourful and Pleasing but the Food here is pure heaven. A Royal Treat !

They serve AWADHI FOOD and hands down the best place for it. To start with we had Subz Ki Galawat, Maway ki Seekh, followed by Subz Korma, Talle Aloo, Dal Baluchi in the main course. We ordered the Rotiyon ki tokri:- which came with assorted breads including an Arabic bread.

The Dessert are a MUST have SHAHI TUKRA., GULKAND PHIRNI. The Paan Shot after the Meal was a pleasant surprise. One of the finest places for Indian Food Must VISIT!

I used my QUICKPERKS Discount Card & got 20% Discount on Bill. I saved Rs.871 Thumbs Up For #QuickPerks

The ambiance is no doubt gorgeous. They have decent live singers who since folk genre. Love the veg biryani. We specially went here for the Appam and fish Curry. The curry was delicious but the Appam was pretty average.
Rajat Ranka
Very rude staff, try to bully and cheat in the name of 5 star. Didn't accept gold membership, made them speak to Zomato team and issue got sorted.

Had the non veg thali for lunch. It really was the best thali I have had. Taste was excellent, presentation was classy. The wait staff were attentive and all this for INR 1400+ tax. There were atleast 10 items. Loved it. Value for money!!!

BALUCHI, BY THE LALIT MUMBAI

We were looking for good North Indian Food in QuickPerks APP and landed here. Hare mattur ke seekh kabab and the Jhinga achari tikka in appetizer were amazing the quality and the freshness of the ingredients made us look forward to a memorable feast and that it was in the main course we had the Dal Baluchi (awesome) and Paneer Soya Qurma and ghosht dum biryani and the meal ended on a high with the Angoori Rabdi and Kesari Kulfi were mouth-watering.
Excellent service and staff. Plus we got 950rs Discount on our Food Bill, by showing my QuickPerks Card.

Must give it a try! Ambience: 4.5/5. Service: 5/5. Food: 4.5/5. Overall rating: 4.5/5.

Fantastic energy at the Baluchi at the Lalit Mumbai. The Grover wines paired perfectly with authentic Indian cuisines. Warm ambience. Table well set. Staff very well trained. The Lalit is a classy Hotel with very spacious interiors, lobby and lounge areas. It's a perfect place to Celebrate an occasion. Close to the international airport. Chef Parimal Sawant excellently presented a dinner party excellence, I loved the tandoori fish with Grover White wines. Thank you so Ms Grover for such an amazing evening. @geetashreedhar @tanyasatish @chefparimalsawant @groverwines

Food - 3.75/5
Ambience - 3/5
Service - 4/5
Value for money - 2/5
We went here in a Friday evening and booked our table you know just in case..only to realise we were the only other table to be occupied ..the entire place was deserted. We tried fresh lime soda, fruit punch (amazing..must try..one of the best I've had), subz kebab (4 PC and really soft) , mix veg and Baluchi Dal (really good) and assortment of rotis including a unique one called Uzbeki naan which was like a cinnamon flavoured bread/ bun. It was good in a standalone basis but didn't quite go well with what we had ordered. For dessert we tried the anguri rabri which again was good. The ambience was just about average considering that it's in a 5 star and the pricing was not worth the experience..whooping 6700 for dinner for 3. Definitely not a must visit place.
Rajesh S
Amazing food and excellent ambience. Chef takes personal care and this is my go to dinner place anytime I am close to the airport. Even after nearly 6 years of experience I am always look forward for my next visit.

Hi everyone! There is something about food festivals that excites me enough to forget all my commitments & plans; and if the food festival is as good as Baluchi's Awadh Food Festival, then words alone won't do justice but I am still going to try. Everything that was served at the festival was judiciously selected for us to enjoy the true flavours of Awadh. Our meal started traditionally with rose and Khus sharbat followed by the mewa mawa kebabs, subz ki shammi, saffron mutton kebabs and chicken tikka. Mewa Mawa kebabs were so sweet and so tender that they melted in our mouths and the mutton kebabs are the result of a 48 hour preparation where the mutton is rubbed in saffron and is kept marinated for 48 hours before they mince it to make those delicious kebabs. We were just getting adjusted to the deliciousness of the starters when the mains got served which comprised of Nargisi kofte, water chestnut and bamboo shoot curry, bhune Mirch ka murg & daal Baluchi with a basket of breads. The spices were so well balanced and the quality of ingredients was so good that I did not feel heavy after licking up last bit of the food from my plate. Water chestnut and bamboo shoot was such an unusual combination but who would not appreciate an unconventional but a delicious surprise. The meal ended on a sweet not with Shahi Tukda and the best phirni that I have ever had. I enjoyed being in a food coma for a very long time after this beautiful and priceless experience.

Exquisite tastes at Zaika-e-Awadh

Zaika-e-Awadh food festival is a specially curated menu under the aegis of Chef Mohd. Rais Alam and Chef Parimal Sawant. True to the name this menu befits the food eaten by Nawabs. I got a chance to savor the dinner spread at Baluchi.

Fresh rose shot made with rose petals and with a little tanginess of lemon.

Starters:

1) Gosht Zafrani seekh kebabs - traditional minced meat with saffron flavor. The taste was marvelous.

2 )Murgh Parachay - boneless chicken breast pieces marinated in cream, cheese, and cardamom. roasted on tawa. Finger licking stuff. The texture was a major drawing factor to this dish.

3) Mawa aur mawey ki seekh - dry fruit minced and mawa roasted on clay oven. The fragrance was totally spellbinding.

4) Subz ki galawat -Traditional galawat with tender tawa fried vegetables.

Main course.

1) Bhuney pyaaz aur mirch ka Murgh - Semi-thick chicken curry made of rich onion and tomato gravy. I fell in love with the curry in this dish.

2) Shahi Nihari -Traditional nihari in royal mild spices and flavors. The nihari was handled really well by the Chef, it turned out to be a delight.

3) Begum Hazrat Mahal Subz Korma - Seasonal vegetables cooked in tomato gravy, finished with mawa & cream.

4) Talley aloo ka Qorma - Potatoes fried over extremely low heat and simmered in the saffron-tinged gravy

5) Dal baluchi - signature preparation of Baluchi of black lentils on a charcoal fire, finished with cream. A vegetarian dish worthy of giving competition to the non-vegetarian menu.

6) Safed Chawal - Basmati steamed rice.

7) Rotiyon ki tokri - assorted rotis.

8) Taftaan - A traditional Middle Eastern bread. It can be had with any gravy dish. The taste is lovely and the fragrance is laden with the essence of cinnamon.

Sweets.

1) Gulkand ki phirnee- traditional Nawabi phirnee with a gulkand twist. Served in a kullhad, one cannot go wrong with this dessert. It simply rubs its magic on you and is the perfect end to a long meal.

2) Shahi tukra- Perfect sweet soaked bread.

The atmosphere was accentuated with the renditions of classic Ghazals sung live by a duo performing live in the center of the restaurant. The interiors of the place are laced with paintings and artifacts depicting the Awadhi culture.

The service was top of the class and all orders and dishes were handled carefully. Indeed, a place which gives the royal treatment to their customers.

I highly recommend this place for its taste and variety of dishes.

When it comes to Hospitality, all I can think of is “THE LALIT”, one of the finest dining experience that I have had. It was indeed a Royal Treat. Beautiful ancient paintings, Live Musical performance by trained artists. We awere welcomed inside with with a nameste and huge smile on the face. Welcome drink was served Rose slush.

The festival is only till 30.06.2017, so i will definitely recommend this place.

We were served with amazing dishes will start from the complete meal.

STARTERS:

1. MEWEY AUR MAWEY KI KAKORI

2. SUBZ KI GALAWAT

3. GOSHT ZAFRANI

4. MURGH KE PARCHA

MAINS:

5. DAL BALUCHI

6. BAANS & SINGHARE KA SALAN

7. SHAHI NIHARI

8. BHUNEY PYAAZ AUR MIRCH KA MURGH

DESSERTS:

9. GULKAND PHIRNEE

10. HABSHI HALWA

11. SHAHI TUKRA

I personally lover everything that was served and love to visit again, but i really cannot and will not forget the taste of Dal Baluchi one of the finest Dal's that i have every had in my life.

So over all i will rate,

Ambiance- 5/5

Food- 5/5

Hospitality- 100/100

Awadhi Cuisine has a special place in my heart, reasons being as I took my baby steps in the Culinary world a few years ago , Awadhi Cuisine was one of the first Indian Cuisines we were made familiar with while I was studying in culinary college.

The origins of kebabs and Tikka’s started here and in some regions of Lucknow and Awadh they still practice the authentic techniques of making their Kebabs and Tikka’s.

Awadhi Cuisine belong to regions of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, the Moguls got this try of cooking masterclass with them to India that changed the face of how food evolved over the years. Awadhi Cuisine of course as it belonged to the Nawabs and Moghuls their food was and is often heavy and rich with usage of ghee, cream, nuts and meats.

I can still remember the spices we used to grind, the meat that used to be marinated, the aromas floating around the kitchen and of-course the whiff of Awadhi Zaika floating around the restaurant during service, so when I got the chance to review The Awadhi Festival happening at Baluchi one of the best Indian restaurants in the City which is part of The Lalit Group Mumbai overlooked by Master Chef Mohd Rais Ali along with the expertise of the Talented Executive Chef Parimal Sawant and Executive Sous Chef Sujeet Bhoir it only brings back memories of my teenage days of learning to cook.

The Food Bloggers Association of India along with The Lalit Group hosted some esteemed Bloggers, food enthusiasts and professional photographers to try their Awadhi Food.

The Menu for the night saw us taste some unbelievably fabulous dishes, crafted for the taste buds fit for a King to remember.

On Arrival we were served a Welcome drink:-

Rose Water flavored Welcome Drink.

A Rose flavored Welcome drink, a nice way to cool down and cleanse your palate to start off with the food on show. More like a Rooh-Aafza sorta Sharbet which is a way of welcoming people when guests come over for lunch or dinner.

Starters:- We were served the

The Famous Gelawati Kebab

A beautifully curated Gelawati Kebab, a Legend which needs no Introduction, lamb mince ground several times with spices and condiments along with lots of clarified butter that melts in your mouth with each morsel. This dish had a strong presence of Kewda essence and Rose Essence with each bite.

A light, aromatic way to start proceedings. The Kewda was a bit overpowering in the end but overall an all time favorite dish. The Veg variation is made of Rajma beans ground fine into a paste like its non veg version and taste’s equally better, if you are a vegetarian you will not miss out.

Murg Parchay

A mild creamy variation of chicken breast pieces marinated with cardamom and mild spices, finished with cream, cheese and pan seared to give it that crust on top. Like the marination, the flavors are very mild, not overpowering and so I suggest you try this dish ahead of other more flavorful kebabs and Tikka’s Mild flavors of Cardamom along with Coriander powder stood out in this dish.

Mawa Mewe ki Seekh was a mild, flavorful seekh kebab, made of Mawa and Chenna both are byproducts of milk, the cardamom and Saunf flavors stood out, this is on the sweeter side as one can guess there is Mawa in this dish. If you are looking for a vegetarian option in Kebabs this is one way you can enjoy a mild Seekh kebab. This is a Lucknowi Peshkush as they say it, one often misinterprets Awadhi cuisine is all about meats grilling over charcoal and the hot griddles. Awadhi cuisine also has a variety of vegetarian dishes to cater to the ones who do not consume meat.

Singada aur Baans ki Subzi

This was an absolutely outstanding dish. The Chef is a real star here, This dish was not part of the actual menu, but I cant thank them enough for serving us this vegetarian dish. This is a Chefs dream, the creaminess of the nutty gravy with the bite coming from water chestnuts( Singada) and Bamboo Shoots( Baans), its called Baans because it resembles the Flute which is called Bansuri hence the term Baans comes from there, both are my favorite ingredients, ideally used very less in our cookery, it is high time other places also start thinking on these terms as well. This was a Bang on 10/10 dish. beautiful flavors coming through. Who needs Butter chicken when you have a Singada and Baans ki Subzi. Try it with a Butter Roti.

The Mix Veg Korma, as expected a beautiful melange or coming together of various flavors, primarily sweet and mildly spicy. A Korma traditionally is a gravy made with a Nutty base of cashews or melon seeds and finished with cream, it is a rich dish as one can see and a variety of vegetables have been used. This goes perfectly with any Indian Bread.

Bhune Pyaaz aur Mirch ka Murg

Bhune Pyaaz simply translates to a gravy with the base of browned onions, it adds more flavor to any meat dish if you’ve cooked them with caramelized onions. This dish too was a perfect example of a cooking masterclass, there are so many elements in this dish. There is the tinge bit of sweetness coming from the onions, the tang from the tomato based gravy and the spiciness of the chilly and spices. The chicken was marinated and cooked perfectly, the dish is not very spicy so one can easily enjoy its flavors and textures coming through.

Shahi Gosht Nalli Nihari

One of my all time favorite dishes. I have an obsession for this dish to great levels, this dish required patience and also the time required to cook this dish authentically puts some of the best Chefs to sweat. I loved this dish as a Nihari is ideally a mild Lamb curry cooked overnight with trotters and marrow where the shanks of the lamb or beef shin used authentically flavor the gravy to give it that velvety gloss and acts as the butter to this dish, full of flavor. This dish was exactly how I expected it to be. Lightly thickened with a bit of flour.Ideally have this with Rice as the gravy is runny and will spread all over the place. The Lamb is perfectly cooked, falls off the bone and is a dream come true for any lamb or meat lover

Another Dal Makhani which is made in the restaurants signature style, every Indian Restaurant will have their version of the Dal Makhani, this was no different, wonderfully creamy and tangy black lentil Dal Makhani goes perfectly with both steamed rice and or Roti of your choice. The Dal was cooked perfectly the lentils were mashy, the tangy and mellow flavors of the Dal came through perfectly.

A perfect way to end the Royal Zaika-E-Awadh Festival with two signature desserts, the Shahi Tukda is an all time favorite, the bread is poached in Ghee to give it that wonderfully nutty flavor and soaked in sugar syrup finished with cream or Rabdi. The dish is not overly sweet and the serving portion is perfect. The Rabdi layering was just perfect not too thick nor too thin, one can feel all the flavours and textures come together the bread, the Rabdi and the sweetness of the sugar syrup with rose essence and flaky bread used along with the ghee.

Gulkand Phirnee

A Phirnee with the flavors of Gulkand which is basically a rose petals jam made by adding sugar to rose petals and formed in layers, exposed to sunlight for weeks and after having perfect consistency it is sealed in an air tight container for use, ideally used in another Indian after meals called Paan. The Phirni as we know is a rice and milk pudding famous across India particularly in the North. The flavors of The Gulkand come through mildly with the sweetness coming from the stick rice.

Paan Shot

This was an unbelievably good way to end the meal, the Paan shot was perfectly made and practically cooled us down and gave us reasons to savor the dish, one can feel the Paan flavoring was quite dominant, the creaminess coming through of the cream and Creme De Menthe used along with Mukhwas like Saunf to give us the crunchy texture too. I have never had such a good Paan Shot anywhere else. Just Divine.

Overall the experience was a super 4.5/5 for me with regards to the service as well as the overall experience of Royal Awadhi Dining.

Well , we had a chance to devour on the beautiful Awadhi Food Fest at Baluchi last week. Thanks to FBAI for the lovely invite. Baluchi is a signature restaurant of The Lalit group of hotels. It is known as the “Night of Power,” and commemorates the night that the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. There could not be a better day to start a festival celebrating the royal cuisine of Lucknow.

Zaika - E - Awadh - Festival curated by Chef Rais Alam blew me with a couple of outstanding innovative dishes. I have been Having Awadh Cuisine but here the chef has made a couple of outstanding dishes which I still need to figure out. Take a Bow Chef.

Started with Mawa Aur Mewey Ki Seekh - Outstanding flavours/Aromatic Cottage cheese kebabs.

Murgh Parchay - Loved the texture. Cardamom/Cream and cheese roast with subtle spices was a treat to have.

Ghost Zafrani Seekh Kebab - all time favorite. Loved the hand pressed kebab. Gone back olden times to get the lovely texture. Perfect in flavours.

Galawat - Many few places nail this. Galawat was good but the moisture went into the Paratha which made the dish just a bit out of my comfort zone.
Happens ( chef look into this please )

Nihari kebab - Nailed it chef (Outstanding) Traditional flavours and gone back to old recipe. Here he has used Kewra. The aroma/Fruity smell was a treat to have. A small mistake can spoil the dish.
Experience of Chef Rais Alam (nailed it) Spices were bang. Loved having this by itself (meat cooked to perfection) Aromatic and Spice balance is an art which was so correct. This is a hard dish to nail.

Coming to the Star dish of the day - Water chestnut and Bamboo shoot (so very oriental) to give this dish an Awadh touch and to nail it. It's an Art which the chef has made it possible. One MUST VISIT the festival to have Nihari and This dish. Worth every penny and a must have. Spices/Herbs/Aroma - balance just perfect. Loved it.

Dal Baluchi - No words to express. Amazing.
Creamy/Rich.

Taftaan - After a long time, had this Kasmiri / Middle Eastern Bread. Loved the texture and the taste. Can't stop having one. Dip it into any gravy and you are INN for a treat.

Ended with Phirni - Not very sweet. Perfect in texture. Garnish of Pistachio and Almond shows how rich is our culture and the Awadh Food.

Overall it was an amazing evening - Thanks to the team of THE LALIT (You Guys Rock) 3 cheers. !! And all the best.

YES YOU TOOK ME BY SURPRISE WITH SOME AMAZING DISHES which go back centuries made so authentic.

This festival ends on 30th of this month - Must visit.

PS. The Food Looked heavy but even after trying all these dishes one is comfortable.
Balance of spices being perfect makes a lot of difference.
Richness is balanced.
Nikhil Chaudhari
Awadh a region that has seen a lot of rich history and has a legacy that dates back really longtime. Awadh is a part of multiple areas which include Lucknow, faizabad till Kanpur every part of town and city has a really rich history and Adab / Lehja. A lot can be known about a place an its history through its food (As food makes the people and culture of an place to what it is and lot can happen over food).

Having said and done this Awadh region has had a royal influence owing to its strategic location at the crucial juncture of Indian subcontinent (Easily accessible along the mighty Ganges and position of power). Owing to this the region has seen lot of upheavals along the millennia with each empire influencing the lifestyle and culture here.. Food has also been influenced a lot.. Awadhi cuisine has a fab touch of royalty and finesse (Royal Mughal and then the nawabi influence)..You do find the traces of Persian cuisine and a lot of innovations happening due to Food tastes of the Nawabs. Having said about such a rich food history experiencing it on Friday evening meant it had to have the class and finesse to keep our tired taste buds on the move.

The Lalit Mumbai offered the Awadhi food festival (Priced at 2500/- for a veg experience and 2800/- for the non veg one + taxes) at Baluchi (a restaurant with Baluchistan & Iranian themed Indian restaurant).
#Letseatfbai Meal started with the entire experience of entering a maykhana of a Nawab fb(the sights, smell and the soft Indian music) called for a tired soul (moi) to be refreshed and entertained nawabi style. I could feel the Adab the Lehja right from the greetings of the service staff to the songs sung by the classical singers at the restaurant. Entirely transporting me to Lucknow nawab ki haveli (Aao haveli pe seems so apt here ;)).

Next the smells of the rose kevda enthralled my senses making them alert (refreshed). The tables were having copper vessels (another traditional touch) with copper glass (wish my granny had seen this..she always preached and use of copper ware for staying healthy). Service staff knew I was quenched after coming from the maddening traffic just outside near airport and voila I was served this maddeningly pick me up and off ur refreshed drink (Can go on record and say I preferred this over Alcohol on such a day to just make my tired ass stay awake and even a little high) Rose shot as they say (Made with Rose extract + Sprite) what more can one want (except I had couple err maybe more..till I got a sugar rush).

Rose drink did tell me that Royalty was to be served.. So before my fellow foodies joined me I decided to check the kitchen for myself (now those who know I haven't stepped in a professional kitchen since a year and in Indian section almost 10yrs considering my love was in Indian kitchens cooking) nostalgia set in when Vishal the Marketing manager and Chef Parimal allowed me in their kitchen to view how the authentic meal is made (I almost yelped with joy). They do have live tandoor kitchen for the display for the restaurant patrons (Knowing me I had to talk to commi chefs at back to see how the good stuff is made).. After a few mins of talking to chefs and rekindling my memories of kitchen I did happen to enter the live tandoor section to see seekh kababs and marinated chicken being cooked to perfection). The heat in the section reminded me of the good old times and also that its not easy to work let alone cook a great meal at such temperatures (kudos to chefs and thanks to chef for allowing me reexperience it all Nawabi style).

I was all set for a royal meal.. And I was Served Mezban (starters):
Gosht zaffrani seekh kabab: A seekh kebab with saffron minced meat a melting in the mouth kebab. (Ek se kam nahi chalega)

Mawa aur Mawey ki seekh: a creative veggie seekh that's yummy sweetness with dry fruits. Perfect for veggie lovers.

Murg Parchay: a tender chicken breast flavoured with cardamom cream, cheese roasted to perfection.

Masgool dastarkhan (Main course)
Bhuney pyaaz aur pyaaz ka murgh: Royal stuff truly with chicken well cooked, Marinated in spices and cooked in a rich onion tomato gravy. Succulent chicken a lovely experience on the palate.

Sahi Nihari: a truly traditional Nihari with lamb cooked to perfection. Royal Nihari with meat cooked to tender perfection and full of taste flavoured with kevda (although I felt it overpowering the dish).
Begum hajrat majak subz korma
Fresh seasonal. Vegetables cooked in Royal velvety tomato gravy with mawa and cream makes it a total royal dish for veggie lovers

Dal Baluchi
A signature dish of the restaurant black lentils cooked overnight with ginger garlic and topped with cream making it the best dal you would want to eat (I loved it)

Rotiyon ki tokri
Assorted breads including shermal, naam and other breads including an Arabic bread (more on that in blog)

Zauk e sahi
Desserts fit for a king!!

Gulkand firnee
Indian souflee or as I call it heavenly dessert flavoured with gulkand decorated with rose petals (something which royals wouldn't have missed)

Shahi Tukra
A royal dish and something I highly recommend.. I almost had a foodgasm(if it was a feeling) bread fried and dipped in milk and cream..made to sheer perfection that the bread almost was like a kingly sweet sponge which had soaked all the Goodness.

We were also served their Pan shot after our kingly meal (deconstructed pan made into a beverage with gulkand cherry et all) just perfect to end the meal. There is also a pan counter with 2 humongous pan served for those who love their nawabi pan ( I tried their sweet pan and man it refreshed my palate.. Not to mention keeping it in mouth was a trick considering its size).

Nonetheless the meal and experience at Baluchi was worth it and at price of 2500 + taxes for veg experience and 2800+ taxes for non veg one it is truly worth it. The food festival is on till 30th of this month. If you haven't had Awadhi cuisine which is authentic and you want to try it all I highly recommend it for the experience food and a perfect combo located in middle of city.
Ekta Khetan
|| Attending the Awadhi Food festival||Baluchi is a melody to ear. By Melody, I did not just mean the soulful live performance of ghazals and old Hindi/Bangla songs at this "designed with subtlety" and "easy on spirits" restaurant at The Lalit.
Melody is also a key element of the dishes that are cooked and served here. There is a certain rhythm to the delicatessen here, which is largely evident in its well-balanced flavours and simple "let's not play to the gallery but focus on the palate" presentation.
I was there last evening as their "awadh-e-khaas" guest. When you say "Awadh" a splendour of colours splash your vision and burst of spices fragrant your memories. Awadhi food known for its rich and flavorful legacy was well served at Baluchi.
The Food: In my vegetarian fare, I absolutely loved the "Daal Baluchi" a flagship dish of the place. It was a perfect blend of black daal, cream and mild spices cooked in a dum style. It is a must try at Baluchi and pairs absolutely well with Missi roti [another favourite from the menu] and the Awadhi bread- Takhtan [baked in a sweet spell of kewda flavor].
Welcome drinks: The rose flavoured shot was/will be great a way to start your dining experience in the company of the fine ghazal playing in the hall.
The starters- "Mawa aur Makke ki seekh" and "Sabj ki galawat" were simple and if you are someone who likes to explore traditional cuisine without tasting too many spices, should definitely try them. If you are someone like me who loves a little jazz in their food, do try their garlic pickle to temper your bland flavour.
The Music: the music at the place indeed deserves a mention and a big pat on the back. I do not know the name of the singer but his songs were so well chosen, well sung, making the dining experience a real fine one with flawless singing and music. Kudos to them
In desserts, we tried- Gulkand ki Firni and Shahi Tukda. The firni was loaded with rose gulkand and was such a delight! Must try. I savoured the whole kulhad that it was served in [off course barring the earthenware]

However, there were some elements of Awadhi food was missing in the menu especially the rice/ pulao preparation, Lucknow chat. I would have loved to see some more varieties of food especially the curd variety, vegetarian starters that should include- Dalcha, Arabi, jamikand and the popular desserts like halwa extra.
The Hospitality: The hospitality was at its finest best. If I am not mistaken, we were served by Amit and Lavkesh who were warm and highly attentive. Apart from the servers, the other restaurant staff including the chefs and the managers were hospitable and were forthcoming while addressing our queries related to their cuisine. They have an interesting offer coming on TripAdvisor, do check it out.
Overall, it was a good experience. Would I Visit them again? yes.Do I recommend? Yes.

The food was reasonably good but too ridiculously exorbitant. Not value for money. A small bowl of soup costs 650 ++. Found the waiters a bit overbearing especially the chef who was annoyed when appreciation of the food was not done.
On the whole the restaurant maybe deemed as good only for foreigners. It's way too expensive.

Amazing Restaurant

We visited Baluchi for Dinner. It was an experience we will never forget. A true '5 Star' Restaurant.

Service : Our reservation was taken swiftly on a Telecall and the table was ready on our arrival. Mr. Anish the restaurant manager was an amazing host. We have been to many such high end restaurants but no were we found such welcoming faces. Mr. Sufiyan our server was happy to serve us with a smile & ready to accommodate all our needs. Mr. Raiz the head chef met us personally to know our preferences & impressed us with his culinary skills.

Food : We ordered 1. Subz Ki Galawat ( What a start!! - i have never been so impressed with a veg kebab - Just Melts in your mouth)
2. Uzbeki Naan - ( A naan Bread with Cinnamon and Blend of spices - Wonderfully goes with Awadhi Curries)
3. Paneer Bemisal - (A cottage cheese preparation that would surely delight you with amazing quality ingredients.)
4. Bunna Saag - (Recommended by the host Anish - definitely one of the best dishes they had to offer)
5. Mocktails Served were well made too.

It takes a lot of efforts to impress a foodie like me & Baluchi just did it right from the start. I would highly recommend this restaurant for one who is looking for Finest Indian(North/Awadhi/North West Frontier) Cuisine complimented by Heart warming Indian Hospitality. Special Thanks once again to Mr. Anish.

What a place. The killer was that they had amazing food and to top it Ghazal Night. The music was light and so was the food. Tasty as hell. I had never before heard of pan Biryani saw this name on the menu and ordered it right away. And believe me I wasn't disappointed. It was super super taste. All the other stuff I ordered were great too. A must visit place for sure.

This place did not live up to my expectations. Now this could be a slightly biased review as I only had vegetarian food, while this place is known to be a favourite of meat lovers. We had paneer tikka, cheese kofta with roti and tadka dal + rice to go with it. Paneer tikka was well seasoned, but kofta an utter disappointment, somewhat bland. Ambience was decent, the live music added charm to the place.

Lovely food and terrific ambience. The services are highly professional and personalised. There is no rush and one can enjoy the food with complete peace.

I ordered a Mocktail, Honey Breeze. Interesting drink prepared with passion fruit and honey. Amazing taste. The mutton biriyani was too good. The perfect blending of aroma and taste of mutton with the rice is just heavenly.

And I also like the mini papads served in the beginning with different chutneys.

Love it!

Nice punjabi food. We ordered koftas, kebabs and dal Baluchi (Black dal) which turned out to be the highlight of the night.
The decor of the restaurant is really nice. Very copper looking ambience with nice traditional Indian music in the background. Being a five star hotel restaurant can be on expensive side if you are going without a voucher.
Overall, we had a very nice experience and a good time with quality food.

Mr. Khanna in his heavy Punjabi accent emphasised that we should cancel all our plans for the evening and come for his sons wedding. Despite our reluctance and subsequent denial, he made some hasty calls and spoke to someone to arrange a car that evening to get us picked up for our hotel at Chandigarh’s Sector 35. Without being given much of an option he gave us his card and took our details and promised to see us that evening. The car arrived on time and to our surprise was driven by a man wearing a black tuxedo who definitely wasn’t a driver. He introduced himself as Mr. Khanna’s youngest son. Mr. Khanna had asked him to personally pick us up and make sure we were well attended. We thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations that ended in the wee hours and had not experienced better hospitality in our lives.

Apparently this was the first time we were visiting Chandigarh and knew no one in the city. We were there for a food trail that we had long wanted to do. While we were hopping eateries adding milestones to our culinary memory we met Mr. Khanna at Gopal Sweets not very far from our hotel. As we were indulging in our respective ghobhi samosas and trying to contain our awe, we met Mr. Khanna who was there for some last minute sweet requirements for his son’s marriage. We told him about our food trail and asked for suggestions of eateries in and around Chandigarh. A ten minute conversation and you know the rest of the story.

This can happen only in Punjab and we relived our memories a few days back on our invite to “Pind da Kahana” festival hosted by Baluchi at The Lalit not just with respect to food but also their hospitality.

Read full review on our blog!
