I visited Souk for a lunch date with my mom and we had a great time. You can enjoy beautiful views of the city from the restaurant. Food was delicious and Anslem provided excellent service. A must visit spot in Mumbai!

One of my favorites in Bombay. My wife and I have been here twice for lunch and both times, Anselm has taken great care of us. The views are exceptional as is the food. Definitely get the rose ice cream. They are very accommodating towards dietary restrictions. We will return again the next time we are in Bombay. Photos are from both visits.

Located on the top floor of the tower at the Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai Hotel, this Mediterranean restaurant has mind blowing food, ambiance, and views of the Mumbai city and the Sea. Can also see the Gateway of India. Food was most amazing. Vinod, our server, took great care of us and provides excellent suggestions on what's best to order. For cocktails, we got the gold rush and a spicy margarita. Gold rush was amazing. Margarita was good. For apps and mains, we got the hummus with crispy lamb with assorted breads, Turkish lamb seekh, and chicken shawarma. Everything was next level delicious. For dessert, Vinod surprised us with a cake and rose petal ice cream on account of our celebration, both of which were delightful. All desserts are made in-house. The rose petal ice-cream was so refreshing and delightful. Thank you for an amazing time!

We had an exceptional experience at this hotel, thanks to our outstanding steward, Mr Anslem. He not only ensured our comfort but also went above and beyond by capturing our wonderful moments through his photography skills. His friendly and cooperative nature, coupled with valuable menu suggestions, made our dining experience memorable. The surprise complimentary cake was a delightful touch. We wish him all the best and look forward to being served by him again.

We had an amazing family lunch at souk , taj. The food & service were outstanding. Mr Anselm who served us made very good recommendations on the food. The chef made my mum feel super special on her birthday by carving a swan šŸ¦¢ out of a green apple for her. The service at the taj is always so warm and the best šŸ‘Œu

We had visited souk to celebrate our anniversary and we were taken by surprise! The food was delicious and view from the top floor was breathtaking. Mr Anselm took beautiful pictures for us as memories. Mr Anselm also suggested food options from which the rose petal ice cream was my absolute favourite ! The ambiance was beautiful with live music. A must visit for Sunday brunch. Thank you so much Souk staff and Mr. Anselm for the pleasant experience!

Had dinner here. We were expecting a great night view from here, but I guess one needs to visit this place in the daytime, if you want to enjoy the view. We went here to celebrate our parents' marriage anniversary. The restaurant was kind enough to honour our request of 'seating with a great view'. They also sent a nice cake to congratulate our parents. How very nice of them! The chef came and asked us how the food was and the food was lovely, there's no lying there. We had 'rocka and figs salate', Shawarma Platter, Prawn Kunafa, a cocktail called Zafran, one double vodka and Baklava Platter. All this and the bill was north of 11000. This is definitely an expensive place to dine, but satisfaction is sometimes priceless. We will visit again in the daytime to marvel the view of Arabian Sea at our feet and then, we will see. I will always remember this dining experience as homely, pleasant yet exquisite. People who were serving us were mild mannered, smiling and the hospitality was top notch, there's no denying there. Must experience once!

The food, the view, the hospitality at the Souk Restaurant was very amazing. Special mention to Mr. Anselm who served us very well, clicked good pictures for us and made us feel comfortable there. Chef Jayanti has an amazing art in making waffles and pancakes, chef made for us too and they tasted delicious. Definitely Iā€™ll visit the place soon. It was an amazing experience.

Beautiful view at top of Taj Tower with views of Gateway and Sea. The food is best Mediterranean food we have had with fresh hummus and pitas. The lamb kebab Istanbul is delicious. Their rose petal ice cream is a signature dish. The service is extraordinary. The best restaurant at Taj for overall ambience and food.

We had our anniversary lunch at Souk yesterday. The restaurant is brilliant wrt view, taste and off course the famous (Taj) hospitality. Special mention to Mr Anslem, who suggested food options, and ensured our moments were captured in our phone. The chef checked in on satisfaction with food. We had a lovely time here.

We went here for a light dinner and Souk does not disappoint. The Chef welcomed us and we told him how much we loved the truffle hummus and how fresh the dishes were. Portion size is really good. Donā€™t expect spicy food here. Souk is all about the healthy food with a great ambience. We paid 4K without alcohol. What delicious food.

Premium experience. A service with a smiling face was expected from Taj (Tata) . Polite and professional staff. Presentation of food was excellent. Souk is more about Quality and taste rather than quantity. Shawarma was good. Great view. Really comfortable seating. The interior beautiful.

Souk is possibly one of the most romantic restaurants in the city. It has got a fabulous panoramic view of the Gateway Of India and is home to some exquisite Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. The ambience has you feeling special and is the perfect spot for a date because the food lives up to its reputation. All my friends have major craving for sweets, so we ordered Baklava and loved the taste of it. <br/>Do try their gin & whiskey cocktail with fennel seeds.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the King and Prince. Everything was perfect. We dined in the restaurant at the hotel and it was delicious and the service was excellent. We played golf, went shopping downtown, rode the trolley and just enjoyed sightseeing on this beautiful island. Love it all and want to come back to visit soon.

Well - Souk is unique dining experience. Place in the iconic Taj, This restaurant has its own uniqueness in terms of food and ambience. Over view the gate way of India and an endless view of an Ocean.<br/><br/>Overall had an amazing time here and would love to come back and try many more new dishes! Loved itšŸ‘. Surely visit Souk!

This place gives you a panaromic view of gateway of India so it's recommendable to go here in the day. Even though known for its Mediterranean food it has a lot of exotic food options from different parts of world. We tried Lebanese Pizza to begin with. I could compare it with the artichoke pizza that one finds in New York and it was absolutely lip smacking. The base was as soft as a paratha and felt like the topping was on a soft Indian khari.<br/>For the mains, we tried Vegetable tagine the Souk way. It was gravy made in tomato puree with a few vegetables and served with couscous. Overall the gravy went really well with couscous.<br/>Service 4.5/5<br/>Ambience 4/5<br/>Food 4/5

Isn't it a big deal to tell people that you had dinner at Taj? Of course, it is! A day before the New Year of 2019, I decided to treat myself with the Taj Luxury and headed to the erstwhile hotel. My basic search on the internet listed some specific restaurants such as Shamiana, Masala Kraft and Souk. Mediterranean cuisine has always intrigued me and I never had the chance to have it. Fortunately, Souk was offering all the Mediterranean delights I was looking for.<br/><br/>Just an hour later, I got to reach Taj and definitely didn't miss the chance to click a selfie outside the gate. When I was trying to figure out where is Souk, one of the Hotel person stepped forward and asked, "How can I help you, sir?"<br/><br/>All I said was, "Souk!"Ā <br/><br/>"It is on the 12th floor sir, " he responded diligently. Well, that's the Taj luxury I thought.Ā <br/><br/>I went through the elevator which took me to the 12th and the elevator itself represented the grandeur that Taj is known for.<br/><br/>Stepping out, all I could see was a two-seater table beside the window, which pulled me towards it. Even before the waiters could say, please wait till we could clean it. Sitting on the top floor of Taj and looking at the Arabian Sea as well as viewing the Gateway of India from the top is a delight. Nothing else matters, right?<br/><br/>Looking at the menu, there was one thing that got my eyeballs rolling i.e. Lebanese Pizza. While the waiter tried to explain what it is, I said, "Just bring it."<br/><br/>He smiled and rushed to get me the one. Then he asked me, "Would you like to have some drinks, sir?"<br/><br/>"Suggest a good one, " I said.<br/><br/>"Asahi, Japanese Beer, " is all he said.<br/><br/>I could just do nothing but to have it. The bottle and the glass looked sparkling. For a moment, I was already high with the thoughts of having the best beer at Taj.Ā <br/><br/>All I realized was, all Beer is the same. Anyhow, I must be an Alcoholic Connoisseur to see the uniqueness of the Beer, but nothing. Although, it did taste smooth and soothing to the tongue compared to the rest.Ā <br/><br/>Then came my Lebanese Pizza. All I could recollect was the time before I had. My happy high went to the next level. How can pizza be soft, smooth, crispy and not so cheesy? In short, perfect is the word. But that is not enough to explain the Pizza. Such a lovely delight it was.<br/><br/>I kept asking for the same. Twice, thrice and at last for the 5th time. By the time I finished the 5th, the waiter stepped forward and asked, "Why don't you try some Aushak?"<br/><br/>Hell, I know what it is, but I'm in Taj. It must be a good treat like my Lebanese Pizza. So Aushak reached my table. But the tangy flavours disappointed me. I did take a while to finish it.<br/><br/>For one last time, the waiter said, "Sir if you don't have any orders, we'll close it and get you the bill."<br/><br/>Only then I realized, I was eating beyond their time and making all of them wait for me. Yes, I was the only one.Ā <br/><br/>Guilty, I felt. Only because, I have to enjoy Taj food, I made them all wait. But they never complained. They served me happily.Ā <br/><br/>My love for Taj grew higher and higher with that experience. All I could do is to write this review explaining the godly treatment I had.<br/><br/>Also, you must know, godly treatment comes with a cost. So be ready to shell out one-third of your salary if you want to go here. But you'll never go elsewhere once you come here.

Dined at Taj Mahal Palace Souk restaurant where Chef Simoun Chakour collaborated with Chef Ali Elbourji, of Ayamna, from Atlantis, The Palm Dubai to offer a special Middle Eastern showcase from 20-24th November 2019.<br/>In picture, Bastille au lait, a baked phyllo layered with almond cream and served with saffron milk.<br/>Second picture: zucchini with garlic sauce, a lip smacking appetizer.<br/>#souk #tajmahalpalace #bastilleaulait #lebanese #lebanesedessert #mediterraneanfood #foodcritic

The Taj Mahal Palace is one of the oldest and most legendary hotels of India. Entering inside, there's a lovely ambience with mostly foreigners sitting inside. The Souk is located at the top floor of the hotel, one needs to take the lift to the RS floor in order to visit the restaurant.<br/><br/>Upon entering the restaurant, there's a modern day ambience with an open kitchen and a beautiful sea view. We were lucky to get a table facing the sea. Being a Monday Morning, the staff was less, but they paid attention to every guest and were extremely warm and hospitable.<br/><br/>Our meal started off with complementary pickled vegetables with a sesame dip and another chilli dip. The taste of both the dips was great.<br/><br/>We ordered some hummus, fattoush, mouttable and falafel to start our meal.<br/>The hummus was rich and creamy and had an excellent taste.<br/>The fattoush had become a bit watery with the vegetables leaving some water. Can be avoided.<br/>The mouttable was a bit thicker than the hummus but the taste was good.<br/>Falafel bullets were served fresh and hot and had a crisp coating with an excellent soft taste.<br/><br/>A big big shoutout to the breads served along with it. They were freshly baked on order and served hot. This was hands down the best breads I've had in my life. The ones topped with zattar tasted even better.<br/><br/>For our mains, we went with Vegetable Tagine and Spanakos Menemen.<br/><br/>The Menemen had a prominent taste of feta, and the pancakes with potato and spinach was a great match.<br/><br/>The Vegetable Tagine was served along with some couscous. The broth was slow cooked along with the vegetables and had a great taste of the arabic spices used in it. The vegetables were soft, but had a bit to it as well. A great pair with the couscous.<br/><br/>To end our meal, we had the baklava along with rose petal ice cream. The ice cream was fabulous and extraordinary, and the baklava though small, was crispy and had an intense flavour of the stuffing inside. A must have.<br/><br/>Overall I had a wonderful experience and I'll surely be looking forward to visit the place again. Cheers to team Taj!

Souk is the Mediterranean cuisine restaurant in Taj and we happened to visit during our stay there. It's on the top floor so you get to see unbashed views of the harbour and the Gateway of India.<br/><br/>They have an sundowner as well which promises to be epic. We had gone for dinner and the ambience was very romantic and candle lit.<br/><br/>Service is ofcourse amazing considering it's Taj!! We were served by Suresh who was utterly helpful and kind.<br/><br/>Coming to what all are tried:-<br/><br/>1) Lebanese pizza - Thin phyllo dough stretched out in the form of a pizza base and topped with chickpeas and lots of cheese! This was so sinful and yet so light because of the base! Loved it to the core! Highly recommended.<br/><br/>2) Veg Mezze platter - So basically we have to choose 4 appetizers which will form a part of the platter. We chose to try the following:-<br/><br/>A) Ful Medames - It is a stew of cookedĀ Fava beans served as a staple food in Egypt and other middle eastern countries. It is cooked with various spices and is to be eaten by itself or with a warm pita bread. Tried this for the 1st time and liked it quite well.<br/><br/>B) Felafil - Chickpeas nuggets with onion and garlic. Can be had on its own or even better, wrap it in a pita bread with salad! Super crunchy so was a delight to have!<br/><br/>C) Cheese Fatayer - Cheese Fatayer or cheese turnovers are Arabic cheese filled pastries, usually takes a boat-like shape. Very tasty filled with almost anything you want. These were filled with plain cheese so they were definitely mild but tasted good nevertheless!<br/><br/>D) Batata hara with Asparagus - Batata hara is a Lebanese vegetable dish. It consists of potatoes, red peppers, coriander, chili, and garlic which are all fried together in olive oil. It was like a potato vegetable which you can have solo! Loved the punch of flavours.<br/><br/>We were 2 of us and got satisfyingly full towards the end of the platter and the pizza and hence went ahead to place the order for the desserts!<br/><br/>3) Baklava - Having tried so many Baklavas till date, both here in Mumbai and in Turkey, I was very curious to try at Souk. It was soooo good! Exactly how I like it, not too sweet and not drenched in honey. Filled with roasted pistachios, it was sheer happiness to be eating this Baklava!<br/><br/>4) Rose petals icecream - Nitro infused bowl with handchurned rose petals icecream! The rose flavours were on point and this icecream was definitely an affair to remember! Highly recommended!<br/><br/>Overall had an amazing time here and would love to come back and try many more new dishes! Loved itšŸ‘. Surely visit Souk!<br/>

Anslem was a perfect host and really made our experience all the more enjoyable. The food was impeccable and we really enjoyed the Lebanese/Mediterranean cuisine. Would definitely recommend dining here

Souk is in my opinion the best place in Mumbai to enjoy lebanese and mediterranean cuisine.. i have tried many places and this is the only one that really does these cuisines justice.. <br/>yes it is pricy but dont miss out this place especially for any special occasion as the view of the sea and the gateway of india is phenominal.. dont miss out the kolokithi...they are thinly cut crispy fried vegetables like aubergines with the most heavenly thick garlic yogurt dip... <br/>i was also blessed to have experienced casablanca thanks to my husband who took me there for my birthday as a surprise... casablanca is a private dining experience at souk....like a chefā€™s table with various luxurious courses specially designed for you.. they accomodated all his requests like we are non alcoholics and vegetarians and truly created a spectacular evening for us... and the view from this private dining cabin was also to die for!

1) Hospitality and courtesy of the staff here is amazing - something that is a trademark of any Taj venture.<br/>2) Suggestions made by staff Waseem were really good.<br/>3) Ambience is excellent with very soothing Mediterranean music.<br/>4) Food was super yummy and they have good variety for vegetarian food.

Well - Souk is unique dining experience. Place in the iconic Taj, and held by courteous friendly ever smiling staff, this reataurant has a lot to offer, provided you have a decent understanding of the lebanes cuisine. Their hummus (with pine nuts) & zatar bread is quite a delicacy. So were their soup. Was a little disappointed with the main course, but hey maybe it was me (for my lack of middle eastern food experience & north indian pallete) and I didnt know what to expect. Their staff really made our evening. Wonderful service!

Visited the place on 23rd June 2019,which happened to be my b'day. Steffi and Anhselm ...their team and team of Chef Simon and Chef Samir ensured that it was one of the most beautiful and memorable experience.Would like to extend my vote of thanks and gratitude to the entire team for being part of our memories.Place is awesome, one of the rare view you get from your tables...sea front, city front. Gateway of India and then endless view of theĀ  sea..The ambience and the presentation is beyond doubt. The team makes you feel at home with their rich experience and hospitality.Definitely will recommend the brunch to all my friends and family who crave for Mediterranean and Lebanese cuisine.Thank you Steffi and Anselm (I think I got the spelling of both of you correctly :-0

So, we had a yummy time on fathers day at souk.<br/>We have been to middle east and loved their food.<br/>Ever since we have been trying to find atleast something close to middle eastern food. Finally!! We found a restaurant that actully serves authentic middle easten food. We had sunday buffet brunch there. Buffet spread was like.. Freshly made soft pitas, all middle eastern staples, salads, some minced meats, whole lot of starters.. Veg non veg both. Good spread of main course ad authentic middle eastern desserts.<br/>OMG! What a food. Even my year old picky eater tried almost everything.

What adds to a restaurant experience? I day the view has to matter. What you see while you're about to have a sumptuous meal. You get to see gateway of india from above and the maximum city skyline just catches your breath. Lock-in this place for romantic evenings. Can't say much about the food as we went in late afternoon, and could only try some snack bites.
Kalinika Chauhan
Visited with a friend who was craving authentic Lebanese and must say - was blown away.<br/><br/>The view alone warrants a FIVE-star review.<br/><br/>Add to that - exceptional food, a great wine list, and the usual Taj hospitality.Ā <br/><br/>All in all, an experience worth the money and time.

A panoramic view of the beautiful city and the iconic landmark "Gateway of India"...<br/>Their food and service was absolutely decadent...<br/>"B stilla au lait" dessert is a must try, puffy pastry with a hint of cinnamon and rich saffron cream to tantalize those taste buds šŸ„§

Well, apart from the service quality, they seem to have got nothing right. I recently visited this place for the first time, and was largely disappointed. They have a wonderful location, probably one of the best in the world, and they have ruined it. Completely. If you have been to good top floor good restro-bars like Ce La Vi, Singapore or Ozone or Sevva in Hong Kong, one would realise that these guys have totally ruined their ambience. There bay view is barely visible, there is too much lighting - in short youā€™ll not feel like youā€™re dining overlooking the magnificent Gateway of India. Well, food was decent, cocktails were not so good, overall, if you want a Taj experience, go to any of the other ground floor restaurants. If you want a roof top experience, Eau Bar at at Oberoi, or Bay-view Cafe or Hotel Princess for budget friendly options.

Loved being there in the Souk, Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. Went there with parents, husband and daughter. The ambiance was beautiful, both the interior decor as well as the view overlooking the Gateway of India and the vessels in the the sea. The food items are quite yummy, the behavior of the servers and waiters are extremely polite and helpful. In all, would love to visit the place again!

Came for a lazy Sunday afternoon brunch. Blown away with the food, the view and the whole ambience that the restaurant and the hotel provides. A place to soak in the feeling. Outstanding service - calling out Anslem who took care if even smallest of things and made it interesting with his stories at the Taj over last 30 years!

This place has amazing ambience and positive vibes. A little slow in service, the waiters were attentive and polite. The food tasted okay.<br/>Would visit again.

Wonderful dining experience. Delicious food and outstanding service. A special mention for Mr.Anselm, who went out of his way to explain the menu and nuances of middle Eastern cuisine including the desert and if you are lucky, you would get to enjoy special mocktails prepared by him (this is strictly off the records) . While the choices are many, would like to recommend Kabsa for the main course and Bā€™stilla Au Lait ( not to be missed for anything in this world) for the dessert.<br/>

A must for Mediterranean food lovers seeking authenticity. Quite impressed by a specially customized JAIN menu from entrƩ to the after courses for a beloved cousin to celebrate his 40th birthday. Comfortably try the unusual Mediterranean food , deliciously curated for taste buds not compromising on the authenticity.<br/>

Wow!!.. Just Wow!!... everything is perfect at this place. The food, the service, the ambience and the view. Reiterates my belief that the Taj Hotels are the King of Hospitality. Visited it on my birthday and the Souk team made it extra special, especially ANSELAM who was looking after our experience and gave us right suggestions of what to have. We opted for the buffet and the spread was really good and the food was yummy especially the hummus.

Went there to celebrate a special occasion. A truly incredible experience - right from the airy and open ambience to the beautiful harbor view.<br/>We opted for the mezze lunch buffet, which, as expected, was excellent.<br/>A special mention to Anslem, who went out of the way to ensure we were comfortable and taken care of. Exceptional service standards.<br/>Will definitely be visiting again.

Being a Taj affectionado and an avid foodgasmic blogger myself, I had to try this one out the second time round ,for this time, I was going on a budget (bad idea). <br/>The first time I was here I was invited by the lovely gentlemen at the university of bath that I am a proud alumnus of for a private set menu dinner which was absolutely fantastic, reminiscent and characteristic of the Taj hospitality we so fondly know and the bath folk.<br/><br/>However, the second time round, my experience was not that pleasant. <br/>Food happened to be a tad bit salty, service wasnā€™t that friendly and courteous as one would come to expect from the Taj hospitality group (am an epicure member myself for the past several years). Overall the food we ordered at least 60 % of them happened to be a hit and a miss. With the rest of the 40% evening it out. However, when I dine at the Taj and shell a good amount of moolah on the choicest of foods, safe to say, I expect better.<br/><br/>Total damages: 14.5k (with two glasses of alcohol):<br/>1. Hummus beiruty(served with just two pita breads - youā€™re gonna wanna ask for and pay for more mind you): 4/10<br/><br/>2. Kaitte (lamb hot mezze) - 8/10 <br/><br/>3. Ciroga halloumi cheese parcels - 4/10<br/><br/>4. Lamb chops (very expensive for the quality of food offered) - 4/10 - Iā€™ve had better at malaca spice to be honest at (1/10th the cost. <br/><br/>5. The lamb tagine - 10/10. This was the saving grace. The show stopper. Gobbsmack 10/10 on taste and absolutely delicious up to the last bite. Gives you that soulful Mediterranean feeling youā€™ve been missing all evening. <br/><br/>6. The cocktails (Scotch whiskey and Darjeeling tea) -10/10. To. die. for. <br/><br/>Taj hospitality -4/10 <br/><br/>Iā€™m still giving this place a 4/5 simply because I know the Taj and I know that Iā€™ve never been disappointed before and know they can do better. Am definitely willing to give this place another chance. After all. Nobody does it better than the Taj. ;)

Truly fine dining. Lovely view from the rooftop of the city. Excellent experience of Mediterranean cuisine. Courteous and polite staff. Staff went an extra mile to customize few dishes to suit our liking. Ensured to make the dinner memorable by presenting a Belgium truffle cake to mark the occasion.

One of the best restaurant i ever visited. The souk is one of the high rated restaurant in taj .The ambiance is so great and pleasant people can enjoy lunch and dinner with a great view of Gateway of India and Arabian sea .They serve various types of food I tried there buffet and it was a amazing .The plating of dish is so unique the deserts are different than other restaurants they have there own uniqueness. The staff is very friendly and loveable <br/>Thank you ā¤ļø<br/><br/>My rating <br/>Ambiance:-5/5 <br/>Food. :- 5/5 <br/>Staff. :-4/5 <br/>Taste. :-4/5

Had their Sunday brunch. As you enter you see the lovely view of the harbour. Started my meal with the hummus which was as expected, excellent. Their shawarma was also to die for. Then there was a fish in tomato sauce which was also decent. Main course was their kabab section. Their prawns, quail and lamb was good. I could give their desserts a miss. At the end of the meal I was given their special rose ice cream which was lovely. Fantastic service and ambience. For one person the cost would be 2950 rupees

We went here for our first anniversary. The ambiance is obviously great since itā€™s Taj after all. It has a beautiful view of Gateway of India. Staff is way weā€™ll experienced, they are all like working here since ages. We ordered ā€œKabsaā€ itā€™s similar to biryani if I have to put it simply. It was so flavourful that the fragrance only brought water in our mouth. In desert we had Baklava itā€™s a Lebanese nut pastry. Beautiful experience would always consider this place for special occasions.

Bombay has its own charm. Itā€™s a city of hope and dreams. Since I grew up in South Bombay, Taj always brings back fond old memories.<br/><br/>Special occasions need a special place. And this rooftop beauty is just the one, offering endless sea view. A sight for the eyes. Place to dine with wine with your loved one.

I went to souk with high expectations.<br/>We ordered Aubergine chips and lamb hummus. Both were very average. <br/>We also ordered a mocktail Tangy Sunrise. There was nothing special abt this drink. It tasted exactly like appy fizz. <br/>Food doesnā€™t do justice to its price.

So finally we friends been to Souk at the Taj.<br/>This restaurant has its own uniqueness in terms of food and ambience. Over view the gate way of India and an endless view of an Ocean.<br/><br/>Talk of meal:<br/>Grills :<br/><br/>We had Chicken shawarma, unlike what you get outside.<br/><br/>Entree ( main course)<br/><br/>Had a Kabsa Rice that's huge to finish and an indo Asian style<br/><br/>Dessert :<br/><br/>Baklava... Which was actually šŸ˜‹....<br/><br/>Last not least :<br/><br/>Qahwa<br/>The<br/>Coffee. Arabic style.<br/><br/>

Souk is the rooftop restaurant at the Taj Palace, Colaba. We were seated at the private dining area (usually reserved for celebrities. From there you can see the Stock Exchange building and beyond. I would recommend to sit in the outer area from where you can view Gateway of India, specially when it's daylight. Gateway looked like a toy from the top!<br/><br/>The service was great and friendly. Since we were having food there for the first time, we asked them to recommend the dishes. Only one complaint, we wanted rose wine and they didn't understand our request and we ended up having champagne.<br/><br/>They say it is Mediterranean cuisine, but they serve mostly Lebanese and middle Eastern cuisine. If you are a vegetarian and love spicy food, you might not like it.<br/><br/>Except for the Aubergine chips. These were highly recommended by reviewers on Zomato and didn't disappoint! It's a mix of aubergine and zucchini chips, served with cream cheese. Yum!<br/><br/>There was also a dish which we liked much, but sadly I don't know the name.<br/><br/>The rooms could do with more lighting. It was dim and depressing otherwise and not a good place to click photos.

Love the food and the ambience and the fact that they cater to Jain food with lots of options. You have to go when Anslem is around. He makes it all the more special and totally worth it if you go on your special day.<br/>Food is so authentic as well the presentation gives you a Mediterranean feel.<br/>

My grandparents visited Souk for lunch today for their anniversary and were simply touched by the hospitality shown by Mr Anselm Fernandes (Manager) and Mr Patil (chef).

Excellent food and the most warm hospitality. We had gone there for my husband's birthday lunch, and the management was gracious enough to get a small cake. (Many thanks for the kind gesture, guys)<br/>I'd highly recommend the lamb chop as well as rice pudding (Muhallabia).

Visited this place on my anniversary. Husband had arranged for the best view place and surprised me with a flower bouquet arranged by their staff. We ordered for a mixed grill platter which had prawns, chicken and mutton. All very delicious. We called for an LIT and Beer and for the mains had their Mediterranean Rice called Kabsa which was soft not very dry quite similar to biryani but the flavour was very different and absolutely yummy. Since they knew it was our Anniversary, they had arranged for a small cake which was given on the house!! All in all will definitely visit this place again!

This could be, by far, one of the best dining experiences I have ever experienced in life.<br/><br/>We chose a to enjoy a lavish lunch at Souk the feather in The hat, top floor, overlooking the Gateway of India and miles of endless Arabian Sea, Mediterranean at its best at the Taj Palace hotel Mumbai.<br/><br/>One step into this luxurious haven of a restaurant, youā€™d know you have walked into luxury as good as it gets, the best of Mumbai if not India, and mind you, it feels like you are in another world altogether.<br/><br/>We had done our homework and knew what to order before we even got here. However the wonderful serving staff starting from Manohar, Akshay, Pankaj really know exactly how to guide you and serve you best. Taj at its best.<br/><br/>Lamb hummus (crispy lamb pieces and pine nuts) with zatar pita, tiny portion but yum. Another third pita could be added here as a suggestion to the management.<br/><br/>Next, Aubergine Chips, TO DIE FOR. Yum (laced with creamy garlic sauce in between the decadently arranged chips). Decent portion. Donā€™t ever come here and not have this.<br/><br/>Next for mains we got the Lamb Chops. I have never had better lamb chops than these and this coming from a Muslim boy who is a mutton aficionado by default. Portion was less, price was high, but quality UNMATCHABLE. There was a party in my mouth and a smile on my face while I ate this.<br/><br/>Another great MAIN recommendation coming in was the Istanbuli Kebabs which I will definitely try the next time Iā€™m there.<br/><br/>Desert we had the Omali. Itā€™s yum if you enjoy a rich halwa style desert (a blend of a gajar halwa, puff pastry mixed into rich and yum milky mawa halwa style).<br/><br/>Chef Sagar Patil, a thorough gentleman, was kind enough to send to us the signature homemade rose petal ice cream which was a delight and the perfect end to our wonderful culinary journey. It would have been a pity had we missed this.<br/><br/>TAJ as known worldwide for its service, was also kind enough to send us a complimentary cake to help us celebrate our anniversary !!!<br/><br/>All in all an expensive affair, but hey if the occasion is special go for it. Itā€™s an experience you will cherish for a long long time to come.<br/><br/><br/>

We Celebrated our Anniversary dinner with some close friends at the Souk.<br/>They made it a night to remember <br/>all my guests left raving about the food and the service. Taj and Great service are synonymous but the Souk made sure everyone was taken on a gastronomic journey of the great middle eastern Cuisine. Will recommend almost anything on the menu but the highlights were the Istanbul lamb kababs and the Lamb Tagine. Also a heads up save space for dessert as they are not worth passing upon. Would like to thank the staff at the souk for making it a night to remember.

Well I am not satisfied with the place. Itā€™s not worth for money. Though the staff was courteous to help us out select the dish and the ambiance was good. I think itā€™s over priced, secondly the Presentation was very ordinary, quantity served was way too less than expected. Overall k would never visit the place again for Lebanese food since I guess we have such better option around the town for the same with much better taste.

Lunch with family at souk was a complete delight!<br/>Experienced one of the most beautiful views from the top floor of The Taj!<br/>The food that was served was completely new for me as I tried the cuisine for the first time and the experience was fantasticā¤ļø<br/>The service was to the point. Mr Anselm was a great company and he served us the best also gave us a lot of information about the dishes that we tasted. He was very polite and made us all comfortable very easily.<br/>The decor of the restaurant was mesmerizing. The visit to this place was a wonderful one and won't be erased from my memory for years to come.<br/>Thankyou so muchšŸ˜‡

Good ambience and food! Authentic lebanese food, but they take way too long to prepare. Even simple dishes can take 20-25 mins to come. Make sure you have enough time and patience for this place
Manish J
It is good, but not great.<br/><br/>Firstly, the views would hehe been phenomenal, but during the day time, also the interiors during the night is not something to be raving about, it's clean, minimal, simple and classy.<br/><br/>We found the mezze platter to be worthwhile (specially the one with eggplant). With the platter, at least you get to taste 4 options.<br/><br/>Also, the ingredients were fresh and tasty.<br/><br/>Rose petal ice cream was mind blowing, only to be dampened a bit by the less then mediocre baklava. (was very dry, maybe we expected more soaked honey).<br/><br/>Overall, a nice fine dining experience to celebrate the occasion. The free complementary dessert was a nice touch.

A perfect place to feel luxurious, this restaurant is on the top floor of the taj mahal palace with a spectacular view of gateway of india.<br/>We experienced a private dining which was mostly booked by celebrities, luckily we got the booking.<br/><br/>Decor- Spectacular interior is expected form taj, this place gives a theme of lebanon just matching their cuisine. The decor gives a rich theme to luxury dining that you're about to expirence.<br/><br/>Service- The serice was unlike anything i ever expirenced. The servers care for you more than you would for yourself. We were treated like royal guests and we were given a detail about the food that we were about to expirence.<br/>There was an instance where the restaurant time clocked out and they couldn't serve liquor, but since they could not disappoint a guest they did serve the last glass.<br/><br/>Food- We tried the lebanon pizza and many other dishes. I won't be giving you a detailed info on what to order because the servers there will help you to choose/order a dish on your choice.<br/>The food quality is exceptionally good, the pizza was flaky and had a lebanon twist with the tangy sauce. Most of their ingredients are imported from the countries where its the best, to give you a better expirence.<br/>But you pay for much more than food over here. Its the quality time, respect and the luxury you get along with food and drinks.<br/><br/>Drinks- Our drinks bill was longer than the food bill. I personally orderd a Chandon brut rosƩ wine. The servers pop open the bottle in front of you even if you go by the glass. They never insist you to buy the entire bottle.<br/>Its on you how much you would like to drink no matter how expensive the bottle is.

Anlslem made our meal at Souk more memorable . The food was flavoursome and a wide variety , we enjoyed the Osami dessert , the backlava was awesome

So it was my Mums birthday and we decided to treat her to Souk. Itā€™s located on the top floor of the beautiful Taj Mahal hotel. However no matter how nice the Hotel and even the restaurant was , the food was completely the opposite. We ordered Hummus and Halumi cheese for starters which were nice. We ordered Chicken Sharwamas and a Lamb Kebab for mains. Cut a long story short after leaving the Resturant I started to feel sick and since Thursday ( Sunday today ) I have had food poisoning. We all ate the same but Im the only one who had the lamb kebabs. I now realize that they were under cooked. And itā€™s given me the worst food poisoning and stomach cramps since. Such a shame for such a nice and very expensive place. I will not be going back to that Resturant.

Birthday lunch! Nikhil Rumao<br/>I am contented to the core with this place be it the food, service, ambience or the courteous staff. The food was delectable, which is summed up with the beautiful sea view. We were here to celebrate birthday and the staff surprised us with a complimentary birthday cake. Overall we had wonderful experience here. ā¤ļø <br/>Must try: chocolate cigar rolls <br/>

Souk at the Taj Palace is a Lebanese Restaurant. The crisp ladies finger, the Shish Taouk are really fantastic. It is always recommended that you make a booking. I did not like the tagine though.
Shama Dalal
One of the most refreshing buffet experiences. The cuisine was fresh, light and deliciously prepared. Everything from the quality of the meat to the selection of fruits was exquisite. Donā€™t forget to request the chef for Zatar bread, the perfect complement to the taste of the middle eastern preparations. The service was good too and the view was to die for. Donā€™t miss the baklava.
Rashi Gupta
Had lunch buffet on a Sunday afternoon here. The view, no doubt is amazing overlooking the sea and gateway of India.<br/>The food was also amazing and since my brother works at Taj, the staff was courteous enough to serve our preferred assortment on the table. Their brinjal chips dish was mind blowing.<br/>Also, rose ice cream was so refreshing. Had a great time here.

Souk is such a beautiful place. If you visit here in the afternoon for lunch you get a beautiful view of Gateway of India. And if you visit this place for dinner, you get a beautiful view of the yellow dim lights and the beautiful street lights of Mumbai. It makes the place more romantic and serene. Even though the food is very expensive(after all it has to, belongs to TajšŸ˜‰) the view is to die for. The hospitality is to the T, the taste and variety is unique.

I went to the Souk for a Sunday brunch. Despite its simple ordinary interiors, the view of the seas and blue skies made me feel like I was transported to a Mediterranean country. <br/><br/>The spread was simple and the food is more like an introduction to Middle Eastern cuisine than having a chef's spin on their dishes.<br/><br/>The cold mezzes were decent, while the hot Mezzes were sub-par. The mains were served at room temperature killing any joy which comes with the flavors. The only bright spot was the service. Some of my dishes were:<br/><br/><br/>Cold Mezze: Garithes Salate<br/>------------------------------------<br/><br/>This dish is prawns flavored with lime juice, olive oil and parsley. The simplicity of this dish was well supported by perfectly cooked prawns, sour kick of the lime, lightness of the olive oil and flavor from the parsley.<br/><br/>Cold Mezze: Samak Harra <br/>---------------------------------<br/><br/>This dish is fish cooked in a tomato and bell pepper sauce flavored with cinnamon. The dish tasted okay. The tomato and cinnamon were proportioned correctly. The tang from the tomato was balanced by the sweetness of the cinnamon. The fish, however, did not taste the freshest. <br/><br/>Cold Mezze: Lamb Salate<br/>--------------------------------<br/><br/>I loved this dish. This dish is minced lamb balanced by tomato and garlic sauce. The minced meat was cooked yum and the flavorful garlic sauce tasted delectable. The sauce and the meat complimented each other.<br/><br/>Cold Mezze: Duaj Mousakan<br/>------------------------------------<br/><br/>This dish tasted yummy. Shredded chicken tossed in garlic and sumac with pine nuts. The texture of the chicken went great with the creamy garlicky sauce and the crunchy pine nuts. A hint of sumac pinned this whole dish in terms of flavor.<br/><br/>Cold Mezze: Hummus<br/>----------------------------<br/><br/>This dish is a chick pea puree with sesame paste and olive oil. The hummus tasted okay. I would have liked the chick peas to be cooked even further. <br/><br/>Cold Mezze: Mouttabel <br/>------------------------------<br/><br/>Char grilled aubergines pureed with sesame paste and olive oil. I loved this dish. The aubergines were cooked lovely. There was a lovely smokey flavor enhancing the full dish and also had a wonderful smooth texture.<br/><br/>Cold Mezze: Muhammara <br/>---------------------------------<br/><br/>This dish consists of a puree fiery red peppers, walnut and pistachio dip. There a nice nutty undertone which was humming in the background as I was tasting. Loved it.<br/><br/>Hot Mezze: Chicken with Hummus <br/>--------------------------------------------<br/><br/>This dish was okay. The dish had chicken stew with chick pea flavored with garlic. As much as this dish had chick peas, this dish does not convince me in connecting with hummus. There is no texture and flavor as hummus. <br/><br/>Hot Mezze: Kalamaria<br/>----------------------------<br/><br/>This dish is crisp fried squid rings with a garlic aioli. It tasted yuck. There was a thick batter-y texture which is so heavy. The squid rings were tiny and overcooked. They were not fresh either.<br/><br/>Mains: Pasari Plaki<br/>------------------------<br/><br/>Oven baked fish flavored with coriander lemon olive oil. The fish tasted fresh but the fish was not succulent. Because if it was left out for a while, the fish was at room temperatures and it felt like I was eating left overs.<br/><br/>Mains: Samak Makli <br/>-------------------------<br/><br/>Pan seared Bhetki flavored with Lebanese spices. The fish tasted good but the coat of spices although tasted nice was a tad too thick. <br/><br/>Mains: Karides Izgara <br/>---------------------------<br/><br/>Char-grilled prawns marinated in Turkish spices. The prawns were overcooked and served at room temperature.<br/><br/>Mains: Sheesh Taouk<br/>---------------------------<br/><br/>Chicken cooked in skewers. The chicken was cooked beautifully. I did not get much flavors from the marinade as I am used to in Indian cuisine and all flavor was lost with the dish served at room temperature.<br/><br/>I did not have desserts because I was stuffed.<br/><br/>While the service for the initial part was poor with no one directing me to the table in the beginning, and calling waiters for attention, it did turn out smooth towards the end.<br/><br/>I would go with 3 out of 5 for the Souk. I had plenty of hope for a restaurant of such repute only to see the love and care for food missing.

Souk in its zone serves one of the most incredible and delicious Lebanese Mediterranean food in town. But a few things did disappoint us. <br/>Our table was well taken care off and we were given a table with a good view. Glass of champagne and sparkling wine went well with our order. <br/>The quality of lamb Served in main course was melt in the mouth and of supreme quality. Undoubtedly, standard is well maintained being a Taj restaurant. <br/>My only issue was with the double standards in service. It may differ from experience to experience. We went to Souk to celebrate an occasion which was informed about during reservation. <br/>As soon as the clock ticked 11 pm, the servers no more seemed to care about the occasion or the table. There could be several technical reasons for such a behaviour but as a guest i donā€™t expect this from Souk. <br/>May be they had to rush somewhere or clear up the tables but as per the norm of any fine dine ,till the closing minute service should be impeccable. The service was almost hinting at Vacating the table asap. <br/>Hospitality is all about making the guest feel comfortable if that is not accomplished then its not hospitality, its just business.

Breathtaking view, amazing decor and fantastic food.We were here for a lunch and had a great time, although an expensive place to dine but with an overall ecstasy in dining gives great value for money perception. We had ordered some cold and got mezzeh, a few kebobs , and the baklawa.. Couldn't have asked for better food. The Chef and server were there to connect and collect feedback and the experience had an upsurge with the love and hospitality. An experience with an Oomph! I would love to go back whilst in Mumbai.

We were here for our anniversary dinner. The view is breathtaking from the restaurant and the food of course is worth every penny. We had kababs, zaatar bread and hummus. Also had a main course though do not remember the name. The service is impeccable and menu recommendations are excellent.

It was 23rd June a beautiful rainy day in Mumbai, a serene place with a breathtaking view from Souk.<br/>The restaurant serves exquisite range of wines.<br/>A ideal place to celebrate my partnerā€™s birthday.<br/>Thank you.

Had gone to souk last evening and it was the worst experience of my life. Such autocious and horrible service I have never been subjected to in my life. When I sat down they asked me for water but for the next 10 minutes there was no sign of water. Again the steward came and asked which water would you like normal or sparkling but still he forgot to get it instead all the three stewards were standing and chatting and laughing. Just imagine in a place like Taj Mahal where there are only 4 customers in the full restaurant. Finally I had to ask and beg for water.<br/><br/>Asked for coke which also came after a while. Again the stewards were chatting loudly in Hindi while the customers were having their meal. It's so so unprofessional. I have 2 restaurants in Gujarati but no one dare to talk while the customers are having their meal.<br/><br/>When the steward realized I we were so put off. I don't know what the manager was doing or must not be bothered. Mr akshay the manager should have looked into the matter but I guess for him it doesn't matter as long as his pay package comes in. I don't know how and on what basis they recruited this gentleman as the manager without any qualifications or basic decency to the customers. He should learn that customer satisfaction comes first but as I said his pay package is coming so who cares if some customers go home unsatisfied.<br/><br/>I know Mr Singh and he is extremely particular about the people he hires but I guess you go wrong sometimes. For now I would never go to souk where you have to shout beg. Good luck to the manager and to the downfall of souk.

The great food at Souk is not the only reason to dine there, the outstanding hospitality of the charming Mr. Anselm Fernandes is definitely the other. He made our experience there absolutely memorable.

What do I say about the ambience of a restaurant which is on the rooftop.of taj!!!!<br/>The breads are to die for and even the salads were very yummy....so we're the falafel.. .hoping to have more options for jains

Exactly what I wanted. Spend a very valuable<br/>time. Excellent food and service was awesome.<br/>Staff was so polite and cordial that they really treat you as if you are from a Royal fleet.<br/>Especially ## Anselm Fernandes ## He was of a great help.

We went for the Sunday brunch at Souk to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was no doubt great. Just the right number of dishes to not overwhelm you and still give you a good glimpse of Mediterranean cuisine. Fresh food, full flavours, a good variety. The rose flavoured ice cream was beautiful! Mr. Anselm attended to us and I must say that he was very excellent! He played an important role in making up our Taj experience - because, end of the day, one goes to a Taj restaurant for the food and for the experience. Point to note - I had mentioned that we were celebrating my husband's birthday while making the reservation 2 days back, and we were pleasantly surprised with a birthday cake!

I went to this place just for the experience of the magnificent Taj Mahal Palace Hotel especially from the top. The hotel is too luxurious and amazing and the coffee that I tried out was really premium and one of the best coffees that I have tasted.

We came here for dessert after dinner at Golden Dragon and ordered the chocolate cigars. It took almost 25 minutes to come and the dessert was below average.

Good Food and even better view! <br/>Overall a good place to enjoy lebanesse food.<br/>Amazing hospitality and we celebrated a birthday so as a good gesture they gave us a cake complimentary.

If you like Mediterranean food - you have to go here! <br/>Everything from the moment you enter is just perfect! <br/>The view, food & service- awesome! <br/>The food was made to excellence!

I have been eating here from the time when you would have to call a day earlier and ask them to prepare JAIN food for you the next day. Now that isnā€™t required since they always do have Jain food available. Over the years, my order here has been fine tuned and fixed - Hummus, Fattoush Salad, Taboleh Salad, Falafel Bullets, Kolokithi, and Sanklesh - ALL JAIN. <br/><br/>It is an absolute treat for Jain Taste Buds that crave authentic international cuisines from time to time! <br/><br/>The ambience and service is obviously understated yet luxurious- considering that its namesake - TAJ Hospitality has excellent customer service down to a science! The View of the Water and Gateway is an epic added bonus and makes me feel special every time I come here.

wonderful ambiance overlooking Gate Way of India and Mumbai Port. Excellent Mediterranean cousin. Extremely good staff. Especially if you are lucky to have Amslm as your Stuart then you can rest assure that he will suggest best dishes. His photography skills are so good that, you will realiase all your memories are capture in a perfect way. Fantastic lebanese food.

Great authentic food. Excellent service but the place is not lively and is good for silent corporate dinner or lunch. View is undoubtedly awesome and you can enjoy more if u go for lunch.

I was staying at Taj for a friend's engagement, we visited Souk for our breakfast. The spread was great, right from pineapple and watermelon juices to Moroccan eggs, South Indian dishes, chole kulche, the usual breads, cold coffee, vanilla milkshake, a variety of cheeses, cupcakes and muffins. Some of these were live counters. I started with the watermelon juice which was refreshing, moved onto idli sambhar and a masala dosa which I really enjoyed. The chola kulcha was good as well but what stole the show was a gluten free muffin. I think I had 3 of them. The staff was extra polite and courteous which I really appreciate.
Aditi Saksena
The Souk is often ignored and forgotten compared to the more successful and popular Golden Dragon or Shamiana. My love for this place comes for it's quiet ambiance and views of South Bombay and the ocean from above. It's easy to forget time as you spend a time of leisure, eating delectable Mediterranean dishes served by the always warm and friendly staff! Their weekday buffets are only mezzes (starters) while their Sunday one encompasses mezzes to desserts. A special mention to Anslem on Sunday and Manohar on Tuesday for going above and beyond!
Asherjayesh1184@gmail.com
The finest Middle Eastern cuisine you can get in India for sure and as good as it gets even globally. Super ambience at rooftop level, suggest request a table by the window. Weekday buffets are very good and have a super selection of fresh hot breads with the meal. Exemplary service as at every Taj restaurant.
Shubam K Guptaa
The best place in mumbai for lebanese food <br/>With gr8 ambience and ofcourse the service and hospitality of the taj group makes in awsome<br/>The lebanese pizza, mezze platter and the shawarma are the best things.<br/>

Our stay at the Taj would have been incomplete without a visit to Souk. This is located in the tower wing on the top floor. The restaurant has a tranquil and peaceful feel. The soup Harira was good, however the main course and dessert couldnā€™t live upto the expectations. The kabsa was below average and other main course dishes were just fine. There are other places which serve better Mediterranean food.
