We went for team lunch and opted for buffet. I liked every item apart from mix veg. Kerry ka murabba, mirch ka achar, chatni were simply like homemade. All 3 starters were also very tasty and our most of stomach was filled with starters only. My friend liked paneer mini samosa a lot. They have given different and special taste to baby potatos. Panner was also good. In main course lasooni palak was yumm and paneer veg was also good. I just don't like mix veg there although it's my favorite. Naan, paratha, tandoori roti, Dal and raita were also good. One of friend felt that they could have included Biryani or veg pulav instead of plain rice in menu to pair with raita. I wanted to have something simple so I liked plain rice. Now coming to sweets, there were 2 icecream flavours and doodhi halwa in buffet menu. I didn't try doodhi halwa and chocolate icecream. Some people liked halwa and had 2 bowls full, some didn't like even 1 spoon full. Chocolate icecream was bitter however whoever opted for it, liked it. Now coming to butterscotch icecream... It was toooooooo yummy. We all had 2 and wanted to had more but our stomach didn't allow. For second round butterscotch icecream was short of 2, so they offered strawberry and banana fusion and people who had it, liked it. And it has become fav flavour of one. Service was good. They served each dish on time. We didn't had to wait for anything. I do not have a single negative point about their service.

Was at Neel - Indigo Deli for dinner with friends. Got to taste some really nice dishes in the Indian cuisine. Especially the Peshawari Rataloo was awesome. Dint imagine sweet potato could be presented as a starter. Overall great food, good ambience and good service too.

The rice was aromatic, soft, long grains of rice which were not independent- they were sticking to each other. In general it is easy to cook a lot of biryani together but individual portions are difficult. A lot of effort showed in this biryani vs. The effortless yet amazing biryanis of Aafreen , arsalan, idris , shadab etc. We also ordered kokum soda. This was a very nice drink with just the right amount of kokum syrup.

Came back to eat Neel Mahalaxmi after many years with the family.

The place was classy. The wait staff was very knowledgable about the food (which is rare) - they were able to clarify ingredients in a dish!ย

The vegetarian food was excellent - the cauliflower, the paneer dish were all excellent. The rotis were served in the personal dish, next to the diner - one for each diner. This is truly premium dining.

I look forward to coming back soon.

Food aside the main attraction for me is the jalebi & Rabdi, for years they have made the best most tasty combo and we've usually frequented tote on the turf
for family occasions since the carnivores get their kebabs and the sweet tooths get their jalebi with Rabdi.
Fast forward a few years and you can order from neel's on scootsy, I remember when I use to order this it came in plastic containers the one holding the Rabdi was even double cling wrapped,
All that has changed now and and I have to tip my hat to neel for this endeavour alone!
Forget the fact that the Rabdi and jalabei's are still delicious, but served in aluminium reusable containers for delivery?! This is the new standard being set right here, others in similar price brackets will have to follow suit and it's great ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ I applaud the team at neel's for being the first to take the effort to use sustainable/ reusable containers instead of one time use disposable containers ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Oh yeah and if you ever have a jalebi craving ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฝ look no further

Jalebi with Rabdi :

Quality : 4/5
Quantity/portion size : 3.5/5

Ok gotta admit I love places with candle night dinner so neel took my heart right away with the ambience. Tough would have loved it if the place was a little less noise and dim lit . Coming to the food we called for
1) roomali papad : the service for the roomali roti was quick which is unlikely at other places so enjoyed this thoroughly
2) allepy aloo : perfect blend of the roughly grounded spices and coconut
3) Boti kebab: this was a bit of a let down as the flavours were perfect but the chicken was dry
4 ) katal ki biryani : perfectly cooled biryani; but not the miss the accompaiment of lassoni yogurt and mirchi ka salan ...both were a steal .
Heading back to this place again for sure

Neel is a beautiful restaurant surrounded by trees and shrubs. They have a beautiful cozy and elegant decor with an interior and exterior seating.
This place is perfect for a date or a quite meal as well.

I recently visited Neel for a Bihari /Magadh Food Pop Up.
It was my first rendezvous with Bihari food and was really looking forward to it.
I'm so glad I could experience it.

The menu offered a welcome drink along with 4 kinds of appetizers and accompaniments.
4 mains and three kinds of bread, litti chokha, rice, three desserts and ending with a paan.

Loved everything. A few dishes were totally outstanding. Yam chutney, a simple parwal Aloo sabji, jackfruit Sabji, green peas bhajiya, litti chokha, parwal ki mithai were my favorite among everything.

The chef did a great job and Authenticook managed it well. The service was excellent.

However a small incident did put me off which wasn't expected to happen here. I take away . 5 for that.

This place is definitely worth a visit.

Delightful summer lunch with Ramadan specials. We really enjoyed Rampuri Sheekh kebab and Murashidabadi murg biryani. Refreshing cocktails made us forget the blistering heat outside. Service was prompt, courteous yet non-intrusive. I had a lot of expectations from Haleem but it didn't live up to it. I would suggest you avoid the tadkewali jhinga as seasoning and the punch of tadka was below optimum. But overall a pleasant meal which is perfect for weekend pampering.

I've tried the Seb Shingada Kali Mirch, which is water chestnuts and Granny Smith apples (my fave green and super-crunchy ones) put into a thick pepper infused gravy. This is a mild, almost sweet dish. While I normally like my food spicy, this was a pleasant fusion effort in North Indian cuisine, and I just had to try it. I suggest people do so, for the different tastes it brings to your palate.ย

The Kasundi Aur Hara Mirch Ka Sakharkhand was my outright favourite though, as I love sweet potato as much as green apples. Okay...one is my fave fruit and the other a fave veggie! The sweet potato slices sauteed in kasundi mustard relish and green chilly was delicious beyond words. It does make for a perfect snack too as well as appetiser. The two types of rotis I had (bakhumaas and Malabari paratha) were soft and lived up to the reputation of this place. For a seafood lover like me, the pomfret filets stuffed with shrimps was the highlight of this meal.

Great ambiance- spacious, quiet (smooth jazz music), soft lighting. Good service- we had at least 2 servers waiting on us at all times. This was for a party of 4 - so really attentive. Excellent food- suggested by our server - starting with the crispy rumali roti while the rest of our appetizers were cooked. We had chicken malai lassoni tikka , goat boti kebab and ajwaini rawas tikka- all seasoned and cooked just right. Entrees were 2 chicken dishes with rumali roti and a surprisingly tasty kolambichi (prawn) khichdi. All in all a very relaxing and delightful experience.

Here's what we ordered:

Flavourful and light.

Kesari Paneer

Dahi Waali Bhindi
Best. Visit Neel just for this dish. You'll thank me.

Kabul Ki Daal
It's funny how most places get their black daal wrong. Neel hits all the right notes with this one.

Visit Day Date and Time:- Sunday 16-July-2017, 1.00 p.m.

"Neel" one of the popular restaurant from Mumbai which is located in premises of one of Mumbai landmark location i.e. Mahalaxmi Race Course is know for serving delicious and flavourful Awadhi cuisine. It is owned and managed by deGustibus Hospitality which also own restaurant like Indigo, Indigo Deli, D:OH! and TOTE etc.

Recently was invited for food tasting and accordingly decided to visit it.

Ambience:- It's overall appearance is quite clam and classy with vintage touch.

We started off with flavourful Shetbar aur Pista Ka Shorba and Rampuri Nalli Shorba which were served with munchies. Taste was amazing which gave the perfect start to the tasting session.

After shorba we tried out few starters from vegetarian and non- vegetarian section namely Basnu Aur Singhada Ka Kabab, Aloo Panch Foran, Rajma ki Golowti, Burrah Kebab, Gilawat Ke Kabab, Murg Malai Kali Mirch Tikka etc. Starters from both sections were blended with spices and aroma giving the perfect taste to tickle the taste buds. Plus the chicken was well cooked and tender.

Further we tried out Jhinga Dum Anari, Rawas Ki Teekhi Tamatar Macchi, Kashmiri Seb Ki Sabzi, Uttari Lahsooni Saag from the main course section with some indian breads. Kashmiri Seb Ki Sabzi was something in which I had more interest as I never had apple as vegetable. As expected it was bit sweet but delicious. From non-vegetarian main course the rawas was cooked to perfect and it went well with roti and naan.

After delicious meal it was time to tickle taste buds with some desserts. So we tried out Kesari Rasmalai, Angoori Rabdi, Malpua and Parde mein Khubani. Out this 4 desserts, Angoori Rabdi was simply awesome that we asked for more

Recommendations:- Jhinga Dum Anari, Rawas Ki Teekhi Tamatar Macchi, Kashmiri Seb Ki Sabzi, Uttari Lahsooni Saag, Rampuri Nalli Shorba, Basnu Aur Singhada Ka Kabab, Aloo Panch Foran, Murg Malai Kali Mirch Tikka, Kesari Rasmalai, Angoori Rabdi

Plus Point:- Parking

Service:- Service level is decent and staff is really helpful and polite.

Overall it's good place to visit for lunch or dinner with family or bunch of friends.

Neel is one of best examples of fine-dining. Serving excellent Indian cuisine, they have made certain additions to the menu specially for the monsoon season. I was there recently to try the Neel Signature Menu.

I had the following from the menu.
Appetisers:

Asparagus ki Galouti- I have had various dishes of asparagus but never expected it to be presented in a galouti form. The dish was innovative

Kakori Kebab- The classic lamb kebab. Liked this one.

Doodhiya Malai Tikka- Creamy, soft chunks of chicken perfect cooked. Must have

For the mains:

Dahiwala Murgh Korma- Chicken cooked in yogurt based gravy. Not a very spicy dish as the flavor of yogurt is very prominent and it had an amazing aroma.

Gosht Kundan Kalia- I expected this one to be better. Being a Kashmiri myself I know how this dish should taste and it lacked something.

For the dessert I had Kalakand & Banarsi Thandai ka Rasgulla and both tasted good.

Neel is a perfect place to have a fine-dine experience and have delicious Indian food.

Neel is an ultra fine dining restaurant perched upon the sides of the race course. When I say ultra fine dining, I mean two sets of glasses and two sets of forks. It screams of elegance. It's a perfect ode to success in life. Your transcended to an existence where you are penultimate, and when a restaurant is able to do that it is not short of paradise. In short, there's nothing wrong here, so I'm really glad I was invited.

P.S. the lighting was not the best for photos, and the quantities are smaller in them as they're for tasting purposes.

Service: Brilliant stuff. There is a quality which oozes out of the staff, namely professionalism. And it is well balanced by the right amounts of being friendly and assistint us when needed. I have to say, hospitality was surely amazing. I can't seem to recall any complaints. I constantly ask the name of the person taking care of us, but I keep forgetting. Also the chef came out to see if we were satisfied.

Ambience & Dรฉcor: Modern, cosmopolitan, chic, rich and classy appearance all across. A clean white theme cut by a few painting and the race course in the background. You really are a victim of extravagance, and that's a great thing. Be sure to put on your best evening jacket, unless you want to feel left out. It's a rich place for the rich.

Food: Everything was a solid 9.5. We started with a perfect BONE MARROW SOUP. It was light and heavy in its texture and flavour respectively. You could drink it down but its strong bone marrow taste would be lost. It was like having a Nalli Nihari but in a classy manner. Even the pastry given it with was magnificent.

ASPARAGUS KI GALOUTI. I love Mutton Galouti kebabs so I was interested in seeing how they would prepare this classic delicacy with asparagus. My initial opinion was that it was fantastic, the classic hallmarks of a galouti kebab were remaining, although the asparagus did not take away as much as I thought. Infact the Asparagus added a nice touch to it, but there were small pieces of its stalk that were quite annoying. The small roti was great.

KANDAHAR I ALOO. What a master piece. Baby potatoes cooked in a Tandoori style which were scooped out to accommodate some spinach. One of the best dishes we had here. We were glad to find out that it was not stuffed with typical products like cheese or paneer. Definitely recommend this dish especially to vegetarians.

RAJASTHANI SOOLA MURGH. I would describe this dish as a Chicken Kebab cooked in Tandoori Masala. It was soft and tender like a Kebab and had the same spice coating as the tandoori chicken. Really simple and tasty dish, definitely go for it if you are looking for something that isn't very elaborate.

BOHRI BOTI. You could be forgiven for thinking this Mutton looked like Chicken, and how it tore apart. But the colour of the meat and its taste revealed the true identity. The perfectly cooked starter was a delight to have. If you have the slightest of attractions towards mutton then go for this.

Onto Main Course, MURSHIDABADI SOOKHA GOSHT. It's definitely the heaviest dish that we had. The mutton was rich and cooked on the bone. It was loaded with dry spices that give it another elegant appearance and taste. It was too heavy for us to finish but we still enjoyed it. Again it's a dish only for those who enjoy mutton and its subsequent glutton.

GHEEWALA ROAST MURCH. Yet another heavy and wholesome dish having really cooked meat. Rather poultry. The chicken was cooked very well but was a little dry inside. The masala was extremely delicious and worth going back for. A very good dish that testifies that simplicity is key.

MYSORE JHINGA. A delicious and creamy green thick gravy with very well cooked prawns was a surprising dish at this restaurant. It was very tasty and I'm not a big fan of Prawns but I loved it. Great stuff.

KABULI DAL. A somewhat pretentious name for black dal, but that is completely justified because we were blown away by the fabulousness of its taste. One of the best black dals I have had in recent times. I highly recommend this dish. It is a brilliant and definitely finger licking worthy dish.

MALABARI PAROTTA. It was below average and should be left to the Kerala restaurants. It lacked the distinction of several layers and its softness. It was chewy at worst. Not a big fan.

BAKHATKANI. A very simple dish that was well cooked. It looked undercooked but in fact it was soft and perfectly cooked. Extremely tasty and could be had on its own. Never have I ever had an Indian bread like this.

TAFTAN. Pretty average if i have to be honest. It definitely looked very appetizing but its taste is just not up there. I would recommend sticking to there simple variations in Indian breads.

KUTE MIRCH KA PARATHA. It was very similar to a lachha paratha, but was just loaded with some Chili flakes. The paratha was a little undercooked and hence chewy. I did not like this one much as well.

MURGH CALICUT BIRYANI. Just brilliant stuff. It was like a dum biryani but much tastier. The chicken had some gorgeous flavours. The rice was also very well cooked. On its own the Biryani was a piece of art. The condiments given with the Biryani were outstanding and helped in bringing out some latent yet unbelievably delicious flavours. If you are looking for a biryani then this is a great one.

KALAKHAND. Never had it before, didn't know what it was. Didn't like it either. See the photos. If you don't know what this is, stay away. If you do know what it is, ask the waiters, they're knowledgeable.

CORN AND LOTUS SEEDS KHEER. It was very different from the traditional version however this was prepared in a Matka and was fun to eat. Consider the components of this dish prior to ordering it and if you like the components you will like the dish. Simple, fun and delicious.

RASGULLA. This was not a Bengali dessert but in fact it was a North Indian iteration of the same. It had finely chopped dry fruits and instead of sugar syrup it was a milk based syrup. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I highly recommend it, considering the other two were not up to par.

Drinks: 2 Mocktails and 2 Cocktails. The Mocktails first. NEEL PUNCH and LITCHI PASSION. Both were really good, and just look at the chief components and go for what you prefer.

KIWI MARGARITA and ORANGE VODKA(don't know the actual name). Both were pretty damn awesome. My friend was in love with them.

Overall Neel is a brilliant place, if you're worth it. The money is the only drawback. But other than that, there are only minor things they need to work on. I recommend this place.

Lovely classy ambiance with old world charm and royal dishes from Awadh, Hyderabad and Kashmir on the menu, Neel-Tote on the Turf ticks all the right boxes to become one of the best places to dine at in Mumbai. No wonder it is always mentioned in most must-visit places by celebs.

Had a grand lunch with family, enjoyed their superlative service and every dish had a distinct flavor, none of the usual heavy calorific Punjabi dishes, and loved the generous use of rare ingredients like nadir (lotus stem) and asparagus in many dishes.

Pricing is on the higher side but for this level of food + service + ambiance, very much reasonable.
We tried several items from their signature menu that presents some of their perennial bestsellers over the last decade and everything is so worth it.
Right from warm and creamy Asparagus soup,
To soft and perfectly marinated Angara Paneer Tikka,
From splendidly stuffed Kandahari Aloo to soft like clouds Asparagus Galouti,
From tomato based gravy of Kashmiri Paneer Gustaba Kalia,
To spicy Hyderabadi Paneer and Mirchi ka Tuk
From Nawabi Biryani (this is REAL biryani, same royal feels people!) to bread basket (Khameri Roti my personal favorite here)
And from the utterly refreshing homemade Ginger Fizz To Kalakand, Makhani Kheer and Banarasi Thandai Rasgulla (all desserts must-have here)

We really did not have a single complaint about any dish be it their presentation, their taste, texture, use of spices, everything is perfect and this truly is the best way to spend a lazy meal with family :)

โ€˜NEELโ€™ means blue but when you step in here, you wave a goodbye to your blues!

Be it the ambience or the food - the crowd or the service; everything at โ€˜NEELโ€™ reflects itโ€™s class.

AMBIENCE :
ย โ€“ just as I mentioned above the ambience is classy & subtle.
It has a vibrant veranda, dinning section, bar, breezy open-air seating & banquet.
I decided to dine at this gorgeous veranda with ultra-fine dรฉcor, where they have these ceiling touching wooden tree like columns.
โ€˜NEELโ€™ being this sophisticated & with such a prime location; itโ€™s one of the restaurants with frequent celebrity spotting.
I happened to catch a glimpse of few of my fav celebs the same evening.

ย FOOD :

- The place is well known to serve some lip-smacking Awadhi-Lacknowi & Kashmiri cuisine & The very famous Chef Mukthar Qureshi himself has curated this menu.

We headed to NEEL to get our tummy a treat with their NEW MENU :

> Awadhi Nalli Shorba โ€“ It was made up of lamb bone broth; it wasnโ€™t just delicious in taste but is also known to be beneficial to health, from boosting immunity to strengthening bones & teeth.
A perfect way to start with your food course.

COCKTAILS / MOCKTAILS :

> GINGER LITCHI FIZZ (MUST HAVE) โ€“ Vodka based cocktail with Litchis, Khus syrup, Ginger โ€“ Lime cordial & soda.

> NEEL PUNCH (MUST HAVE) โ€“ Stood to be personal favorite. Pineapple, Mango, Orange juice, Blue Curacao & Ice cream

> VIRGIN GUAVA MARY โ€“ Virgin Mary with Guava juice

> Caprojca โ€“ REFRESHING. Crushed ice, mint levaes, lime juice.

STARTERS :

( All the starters were extremely appetizing; itโ€™d be too unfair to list a few of them as MUST HAVES, as all of them deserved a try for itโ€™s distinct taste. But Iโ€™m noting them below in my order of favorites)

> BOHRI BOTI - This starter won my heart on very first bite itself & a must have on their new starters menu. Tender, juicy pieces of chicken tasted marvelous with that smoky taste.

> KAKORI KEBAB โ€“ If youโ€™re a mutton meat lover then you just canโ€™t miss on this, smooth, melting in mouth kinda kebab served along with Ulte Tawe Ka Paratha.

> KONJU VARTHADA โ€“ Fresh Prawns fried in Kerla style. With a hint of curry leaves to it.

> DOODHIYA MALAI TIKKA โ€“ Tender chicken tikkas marinated in yogurt, seasoned with pepper & served along with sweet aaloo bukhar chutney.

> SUVA AUR KALIMIRCH KA MACHHLI TIKKA โ€“ Fresh โ€“deboned pan seared Rawas, with a balanced taste of soya & pepper.

> RAJASTANI SOOLA MURG โ€“ NEELโ€™s spicy take on itโ€™s appetizer. Tasted more like a tandoori tikka.

MAIN COURSE :

NON - VEG -

> MALABARI FISH CURRY โ€“ (MUST TRY) Pompfet filets in a sour-spicy tamarind gravy

> DAHIWALE MURG KORMA โ€“ Yogurt based, mildy spiced Chicken gravy

> MYSORE KA JHINGA โ€“ (MUST HAVE) โ€“ Fresh prawns in a green semi-dry curry.

> GHEE WALA ROAST MURGH (MUST HAVE) โ€“ Hyderabadi style chicken curry with a tadka of ghee

> GOSHT KANDAN KALIYA (MUST TRY) โ€“ perfectly spiced Kashmiri style Mutton gravy with tender mutton pieces

> MURSHIDABADI SOOKHA GOSHT (MUST HAVE) โ€“ Succulent pieces of Mutton cooked in Murshidabadi gravy masala

ย VEG -

> PANCHMILAN,
> KABUL KI DAAL (MUST HAVE)
- Both the veg gravies had a very distinct taste of their own but Kabul ki daal at NEEL that tasted more like a better version of Daal Makhni.

BREADS :

> TAFTAN โ€“ Tandoor baked Indian version of bread

> KUTE MIRCHI PARATHA โ€“Paratha topped with chili flakes

> MALABARI PARATHA โ€“ Flaky, crispy paratha

> AWADHI MAGAZ NAAN โ€“ Fluffy bread topped with roasted Magaz seed means Musk melon seeds

> BAKHARKHAN โ€“ Thick spiced biscuit like bread

RICE :
> KASHMIRI YAKHNI PULAO โ€“ Takes you all the way to Kashmir. A mildly spiced pulao, cooked in chick broth, with juicy tender chick pieces. Served along with Garlic Yogurt & Mirchi ka salan.
Waiter Vijay also said there are so many people who specially come for this Garlic Yogurt with Pulao.

DESSERTS : ( ALL - MUST HAVE)

> UKDICHE MODAK โ€“ A Maharashtrian speciality with NEELโ€™s twist; where the maida-rava outter cover of Modak was replaced with a hollow caramelized banana stuffed with coconut, jaggery, cardamom.
Surprisingly very yummy.

> KAJU ANJEER BARFI ON RAJGIRA CHIKKI (Personal Fav) โ€“ The name is self explanatory, but the specialty was itโ€™s soft, heavenly, suger-free anjeer barfi. Tasted too good when had along with Rajgira Chikki like a Sandwich.

> KALAKAND - Indian sweet made out of solidified, sweetened milk and paneer.

> BHUTTA MEWA AUR MAKHANNA KI KHEER (Personal Fav) โ€“ Milk pudding with Makhanna & lotus seeds

> BANARASI THANDAI KA RASGULLA ( Personal Fav ) : Thaking you all the way to Banaras with Rasgulla drenched in Banarasi thandai.

SERVICE :
- What makes any place an even better one is their
staff & service. I must say itโ€™s a 5/5 for NEELโ€™s service.
Chef Sanjay Sutar & Waiter- Vijay hosted us for the eve; where Chef Sajay suggested us with their new menu, & took feedback of what did we liked the most, whereas Waiter - Vijay gave us very detailed inputs of what all is being put in the dishes & made sure we were having a great time throughout the evening.

All & all we had a great time.

Neel - Tote on the turf. Been hearing this name since half a decade but did not get a chance to be here till very recently to try out their signature menu and celebrate a deliciously rainy saturday afternoon. Situated on ground floor near gate no. 5-6 of Mahalaxmi Racecourse is this formal and quietly elegant spacious dining place with outdoor as well as indoor seating options. The huge arches, decorative ceiling, artwork on the walls as well as old timey lamps throwing shades reminiscent of early 20th century British castles, the ambiance is enough to win over anyone. Impeccable service and Fantastic food just seal the deal :)

It would be tempting to describe the food here as 'north Indian', God knows enough of my friends did *roll eyes* - making me think that some glorious version of Punjabi food was served here. Well, food is glorious but it is a mix of royal Awadhi, Lucknowi, Hyderabadi and Kashmiri cuisines. There is no choley kulcha simmering in the air. There is more than enough authenticity in every dish to make one both aware of the rich royal foodie traditions of India as well as hook them to come back. Excellent use of spices and techniques ranging from broiling to simmering on slow flame for hours done for that perfect flavor. Vegetarians have as much choice as Non-Vegetarians. Splendid!

We tried small portions of a lot of dishes and were floored. Started off with hearty Asparagus soup, lovely, creamy, silky. Complimented with beverages, best of the lot being Kokum Fizz and their specialty Homemade Ginger Lemonade which we had 3 rounds of! A special mention to some accompaniments they serve. The mango-mustard combo as well as fried tomato chutney are mindblowing and mom really loved their in-house pickle too.

Soft, well-marinated spicy Angaara Paneer Tikka started off our starters round, followed by button mushrooms well rubbed with olive paste in Jaituni Kumbh, very meaty in texture and a pleasure to gorge onto.

Absolutely loved Asparagus ki Galouti, THE most perfect veg representation of world famous Lucknowi galouti, served on a little maida bread so that the soft as cloud texture of asparagus could be enjoyed completely and mess-lessly :D The STAR of starters round is Kandahari Aloo, a dish I probably wouldn't dream of ordering on my own (it's just potatoes!) but this has to be THE BEST Aloo based starter we have ever had. Little potatoes stuffed and cooked in tandoor with a sweet-mildly spicy marination of beetroot based paste, out of this world really.

It was equally difficult to choose any main course dish to try, they all looked so tempting and well, everything we tried was perfect once more.

Paneer Gustaba Kalia was my personal favorite with soft paneer kofta cubes in sour-ish tomato gravy Kashmiri style, I can have this everyday even with simple rice,

Dad quite liked Hyderabadi Paneer aur Mirch ka Kut which was mildly spicy and had these flavorful Bhavnagri chillies to munch onto too,

Nadru Shingada Palak brough lotus stems and water chestnuts in earthy spinach flavor to life, the most unique main course vegetable to ever have, a delight with the bread basket on offer!

Along with the regular Rotis and Naans, it is a pleasure to have specialty Indian breads such as Khameri Roti, Taftan and Afghani Magaz Naan (my favorite!) alongside Dal Panchmel (5 different types of lentils cooked together) which is a must-have according to my dad,

Even though we were almost full by now (even on small portions), could not help but try their Nawabi Subz Biryani and absolutely LOVED it, with real biryani flavors, spices mix coming through - no over-garnish of dry fruits, no Kevda essence, no elaichi used, rather a true feeling of having real Biryani, just made better with Raita and Mirchi ka Salan served alongside,

Desserts were another feather in the cap here, with KALAKAND prying its way into our hearts (there are 2 different types here!) followed by rich, not-too-sweet, wholesome Bhutte Mewa aur Makahana ki Kheer (it doesn't get any more royal than this) and our combined favorite of Banarsi Thandai ka Rasgulla. Enough said.

The best of royalty is here at Neel and we will be returning soon to try everything else on the menu too :)

But I didnโ€™t like the dessert I tried but overall the food taste was awesome and I was totally in love with their biryanis. (They serve 18 varieties of Biryanis!!!!!!!!)

Neel, a part of indigo delicateseen, serves authentic Indian Nawabi style food in the most representable way. At Neel, the specialty Indian restaurant at the ground level of Tote, itโ€™s all about paying homage to the rich and evolved cuisine of old Nawabi style food from Lucknow, Hyderabad, and Kashmir. They present it in a tasteful blend of authentic flavours, textures and colours to create a sensational gustatory experience.

Helmed by Master Chef Mukhtar Qureshi, the food at Neel, while embracing traditional Indian herbs, aromas, flavours and cooking technique, is expressed with a healthy dose of modernity. (Got it from their website)

We visited Neel to give a try to their monsoon menu and it was excellent in all aspects. Ambiance was lovly and well decorated. The ambiance will give u royal feeling of dining.

Coming to food:

Starters:

JAITUNI KHUMB;

Marinated and infused with masalas. So tender in taste, it will literally melt in ur mouth. Brilliant work by chef. Kudos.

RAJASTANI SOOLA MURG:

Marinated tandoor chicken with a ltl bit more spice (Chilli, ginger were dominant). Must try

BOHRI BOTI:

Laal mans boti served in the most authentic way (Indian style). Maans was so well cooked that we couldnโ€™t differentiate it much from chicken delicacies but the elegant taste of maans made us notice it. Love love

SUVA AUR KALIMIRCH KA MACCHLI TIKKA:

Fresh water fish. Yup. I love all delicacies prepared from fresh water fish as I am an odia and we always prepare fresh water fish for our cooking. The chef was really brilliant in preparing such a delicious fish with the right flavours.

BASNU SINGHADA KI SHAMI:

prepared from lotus stems?? I was quite curious to know abt the preparation and taste but it was amazing. A sweet taste mixed with indian spices and herbs. It was delicious. Must try.

laal Maas- Boneless delicious pieces of meat just melted in the mouth.

MURSHIBADI DUM BIRYANI, MURGH CALICUT BIRYANI, NAWABI SUBZ BIRYANI -

mutton dum biryani that comes with juicy muttn pieces with it.

Fresh mint, brown onions and whole spices do the magic.

Fragrant flavourful bliss. The best tasty biryanis served by them (served piping hot.). I found all biryani and pulao served by them excellent. ( specially made curd and mirch sauce was a great compliment for biryanis), but I would say I was totally a fan of their biryanis.

TANGO MANGO, NEEL PUNCH, GINGER FIZZ:

these are the mocktails tried by me. Tango mango was the absolute winner.

DESSERTS:

Kanju anjeer barfi on rajgira chikki:

Didnโ€™t find it pleasing my tastebuds. ๏Œ other varieties of desserts are recommended.

Chef sanjay sutare personally came and explained all the flavours and the cooking style behind all recipes. Its one of the best places in Mumbai , which serve authentic Indian food. But a must dine in place. MUST. ๏Š

Fine Dine of the Highest Standards.

Well this place truly justifies the title I shared. Be it the ambience, the service, the food and the place, in all aspects it is truly rich.

I was lucky enough to have been invited to Neel to try its new monsoon menu. From the reception we were nicely escorted to our table. The place has that old world charm. Very formal yet inviting ambience makes one comfortable soon. It has an indoor as as well outdoor seating, we got to sit indoors.

For food we ordered quite a lot of things. To start with we ordered Asparagus and Pista ka Shorba along with a platter consisting of Malabari Chilli Kaya, Kandahari Aloo and Angara Paneer Tikka. The Asparagus and Pista ka Shorba was served in a tea cup. The soup was good, flavorful and served hot. The starter platter was presented beautifully. The Angara Paneer Tikka was soft, spicy and charcoaled to perfection. The Kandahari Aloo had stuffing inside the potatoes and was going along well with the chutneys served along with the platter. The Malabari Chilli Kaya was the best amongst the lot. French fries like long skewers rightly tossed with chillies, garlic and other spicies. The Chilli Kaya in the platter was my personal favorite amongst all.

For main course we ordered Hyderabadi Paneer and Mirch ka kut, Paneer Gustaba Kalia, Taazi Bhuni Sabji,
Kabul ki daal along with assorted breads. All the vegetables were equally good but the Kabul ki daal their name for Dal Makhani was the best. Well this dish cannot go wrong for me. Nicely cooked, rich, catchy and really tasty.

We also ordered it's Veg Dum Biryani with Burhani Raita. The Dum Biryani again was very flavorful, had all the spices required. The raita was simply fabulous. With burnt garlic infused in it, I could have the raita all day.

For deserts we called for Thandai Rasgulla and Kalakand. The Thandai rasgulla is innovation at it's best, the thandai flavor definitely adds richness to the sweet. The Kalakand had the right amount of sweetness and dry fruits to it.

Also for mocktails we ordered Spicy Guava and Masala Fresh Lime Soda. Both the mocktails were good and refreshing.

The service at the place is again of the highest standards. Suggestions were given appropriately when needed. Also the serving time is good.

Well as I said earlier the place is rich, food flavorful and the service of the highest standards. Be here at Neel before they take off their special monsoon menu.

NEEL means BLUE and I must say this place will take away all your Blues whether its weekdays or weekends.
Visited this place for the first time with one of my foodie friend and we really had a splendid evening with lots of good food and great talks.

Ambiance:- The place is located at the popular Mahalakshmi Racecourse on the ground level of Tote, Specialty Dining place serving Indian cuisines especially Lucknowi, Hyderabadi and Kashmiri tasteful rich dishes. Spacious dining restaurant with brilliant and lavish decor with well trained, humble and kind staff.ย

Let's talk about FOOD:- So we started with Subz Santra Shorba - A hot flavorful soup with tangy taste was served in small portion.

Chef Sanjay Sutare personally told us about the new monsoon menu and suggested to try the variety of delectable dishes prepared by him.

Veg. Starters :- We had Angara Paneer Tikka, Kandahari Aloo, Asparagus Ki Galouti and Malabari Chilli Kaya.
Non Veg Starters :- Rajasthani Soola Murg and Doodhiya Malai Tikka.

Mocktails - Neel Punch, Litchi Passion, Ginger Lemon Ice Tea.

Upon our request, all the dishes was served in smaller portion with amazing presentation giving a healthy dose of taste.

Main Course:- Taazi Bhuni Sabzi - Dry gravy prepared by mixing fresh vegetables perfect for all veggie loversย
Paneer Gustaba kalia - A unique dish where two paneer koftas was served in red gravy, sweet in taste but loved it.
Kabul Ki Dal - I had the whole bowl of this, truly a winner of all, MUST TRY with Awadhi Magaz Naan nad hot Malabari Parathas.

In rice, we had Nawabi Sabz Biryani truly a dish I relished like a Nawab at royal dining place. Perfect blend of authentic flavorful dishes to give a foodie soul a fabulous dining experienceย

Skipped having desserts here because we were so tummy tucked, but surely visiting next time to try other tasty dishes by Chef Mukhtar and Chef Sanjay.

What stands out -

My wife and I decided to try this amazing restaurant on Saturday night. This restaurant is located inside race course and has a lot of space. The tables are royal and very well spaced out, giving a lot of privacy. There are two sections and both are well decorated. Ambiance here is outstanding. We came to check out their new monsoon menu. The service here is amazing. We were greeted by head chef Sanjay Sature and he offered us to give smaller portions so that we could try more variety.

We ordered the following for soups and appetizers.
1. Sabz Santre ka shorba
2. Kandahari Aloo
3. Angara Paneer Tikka
4. Malbari Chilli Kaya

The shorba or soup was outstanding to say the least. It was surved in a cup and saucer with two indian shakarpara served with it. The soup was tangy. It was a bit different but brilliant. Kandahari Aloo was chef recommended and tastes good. It's baby potatoes deep fried with skin and added masalas. Angara Paneer Tikka is also great. The paneer is super soft and it's so well cooked and tastes perfect. Malabri Chilli Kaya is an interesting Kerela dish. Kaya is fries but of raw banana. It is made with garlic and other spices. I loved the dish and I strongly recommend for some unique experience.

For main course we ordered the following.
1. Paneer Gustabce Kalia
2. Nadru Shingada Palak
3. Dal panchmel
4. Kabul ki daal (dal makhni)
5. Tandoori butter roti
The paneer is very well made and has a great tangy curry. The panee made as koftas are quite soft and very well cooked. The filling is very tasty gravy however was tad too liquid but no complaints as such. We also tried Nadru Shingada Palak sabzi. This was a bit of a disappointment. I generally love palak but this one was too dry with almost no gravy. It's a little different than what I was expecting and there is nothing wrong with the dish but I didn't particularly like it much. Dal panchmel is a mix of 5 dals. This yellow dal tastes great but Kabul ki dal was just was too good. This is my favourite dish and if nothing I will definitely come to eat just dal and roti again. This is the most creamy black dal I have had and I strongly recommend you order this.

We ordered the following for drinks and desserts.
1. Neel - Mary
2. Lemon Ice tea
3. Ruby
4. Kalakand
5. Bhutta Mewa and Makhan ki kheer
6. Banarasi thandai ke rasgulle.
Neel - Mary is a brilliantly made bloody Mary. Ruby is another alcoholic beverage we ordered. It is a mix of pomegranate and cranberry and has pomegranate inside too. It's a decent refreshing beverage. Lemon Ice tea here is super tasty. This is the strongest ice tea I have ever had. The flavour is very strong so don't order if you aren't a big tea fan but I just loved it here. Kalakand is a dry indian sweet with a lot of ghee. It wasn't as soft as other places but tasted just as good. The kheer is served in a matka and is very thick. Loved the preparation but the highlight has to be the rasgullas. Made from thandai it has a combination of thandai and rasgulla flavour. It's a great unique dish.

All in all this is a place I strongly recommend. It's ideal for family or date scene and the service will leave you awestruck.

Neel, the specialty Indian restaurant at the ground level of Tote, is all about paying homage to the rich and evolved cuisine of old Nawabi families thus presenting a tasteful blend of authentic flavours, textures and colours to create a sensational gustatory experience.ย

It is stretched across a wide space at the race-course with outdoor and indoor seating. The interiors are washed white adding to its elegance and beauty it holds.

Helmed by Master Chef Mukhtar Qureshi, the food at Neel, while embracing traditional flavours and cooking technique, is expressed with a healthy dose of modernity.ย It is fresh, clean and prepared with great care. Herbs and spices are carefully used to enhance the natural flavours of the food - not overpower them. The cuisine takes a modern approach to classic flavour combinations, creating a sophisticated menu.

What we were served: Asparagus ki Galouti, Malabari Chili Kaya, Mushroom Water Chest Nut Kebab, Nadru Shingada Palak, Awadhi Magaz Naan, Kute Mirch ka Parantha, Ukadiche Modak, Bhutta Mewa aur Makhana ki kheer, Banarasi Thandai ka Rasgulla

Asparagus ki Galouti: We are sure you must have heard about the famous Galouti kebab of Lucknow. 'Galouti' or 'Galawati' means melt in the mouth. And definitely these kebabs will melt in your mouth once you have a bite of it.ย We never did realise Asparagus could fuse so well with Indian spices to transform into a delectable dish.

Malabari Chili Kaya: Quick fried slivers of raw plantain wok tossed with Kerala spices. This fusion of South India and Chinese is a masterpiece in itself. Crisp texture with spicy taste!

Mushroom Water Chest Nut Kebab: This easy marinated mushroom and chest nut kebab is as soft as Galouti and as crunchy as Malabari Wok. The filling has its perfect raw crunch when the kebabs are delicately prepared to feel as soft as cotton in oneโ€™s mouth. Brilliance!

Nadru Shingada Palak, Awadhi Magaz Naan & Kute Mirch ka Parantha: Their Indian breads have a special twist to it and we liked the innovation done! Nadru Shingada Palak is dry in consistency with lotus stem, water chest nut and spinach as ingredients. The portion is less content, even though it forms a great meal

Ukadiche Modak: No. Itโ€™s definitely not what you think it is! A regional specialty prepared with an innovative edge. Raw banana covering scooped out and filled in with Modak fillings is highly innovative and impressive.

Bhutta Mewa aur Makhana ki Kheer: This traditional Indian dessert is not so traditional with its content. Golden corn kernels and lotus seeds in a rich milk pudding make its way to your table in a Kulhad. We wished it was less solid and more like a pudding.

Banarasi Thandai Ka Rasgulla: Juicy Rasgulla served in a sea of Thandai is basically a modern touch to our age-old Ras Malai. Perhaps, it the best signature dessert at Neel.

Constructive Suggestions:

1.ย We are in awe with the quality. Go a little more on the quantity

2.ย Sometimes itโ€™s better to stick to the traditional taste. Try to make the desserts a little more desi keeping the innovation intact too

All in all, Neel is a vintage classy place for a perfect family meal or a royal date with your loved ones.

Neel, is one of my favourite restaurants in Mumbai. ...I love the food, ambience and the service.
The food is Awadhi - a refined North Indian cuisine of the Lucknowi Nawabs...
Absolutely delicious, well spiced kebabs like the gilawat, kakori and seekh that simply melt in the mouth as well inventive vegetarian kebabs such as basnu aur singhada kebab and the nadru shami...
I love the white and spacious dining room. ....tables are spaced well apart so that there is enough room to sit comfortably and you dont feel cramped.
Service is quick, friendly and extremely professional. I've been here dozens of times and have never had a bad meal or a messed up order.
The focus here is on nuanced flavours and drwsh ingredients......no, greasy, heavy Punju food here. Do try the taazi bhuni sabzi and the khade masale ka paneer for your main course and you will understand my point.
Definitely save room for dessert here, whether its the rich malpua or the unusual rabdi ice cream.

Neel is a fine dine indian restaurant located at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Mumbai.

The restaurant has a elegant decor and a peaceful atmosphere.

The award winning restaurant serves "nawabi" cuisine, the food that was savored by the nawabs of India !

The comprehensive food menu includes a variety of shorbas, kababs, gravy dishes, biryani, flat breads and desserts.

So here is what I had -

SOUP :-

SUBZ SANTRE KA SHORBA -
Root vegetable soup with a twist of oranges.
Served with beetroot namak pare.
A brilliant tangy citrucy soup with a after taste of ginger.

APPETIZERS :-

PESHAWARI RATALOO -
Sweet potatoes/bell peppers and onions marinated with freshly crushed peshawari spices and yogurt, grilled to perfection.
Served with saunth ki chutney.
The sweet potato had a spicy marinate coating, sweet saunth chutney helped me savor this delicacy.

RAJMA KE GOLOWTI -
Red kidney beans and beetroot tikki, pan seared in desi ghee.
Served with ulte tawe ka paratha.
The tikki was dence, tasted nice with the flavourful thin crispy paratha.

BANSU AUR SINGHADA KA KABAB -
Minced bamboo shoots and water chestnut patty, served with mango chutney.
Never tried something like this before !
Soft n gooey but at the same time crunchy with the chopped waterchesnut inside, the bold spices were balanced with the sweet mango accompaniment.
Loved it, must order !

JAITUNI KHUMB TIKKA -
Mushrooms marinated with green olives, grilled on tandoor.
Served with plum sauce chutney.
A dominant flavour of olives, pungent n spicy !

MALAI SEEKH -
Minced chicken marinated with mild spices and cream, grilled on skewers.
Soft succulent kababs with a coating of eggs and a beautiful flavour of garlic and subtle spices ! Lovely !

JHINGA NARANGI PANCH FORAN -
Prawns marinated with pamch foran spices, grilled to perfection.
The grilled prawns had a hint of sweetness coming from oranges that were infused in the marination, Nice !

MAINS :-

UTTARI LAHSOONI SAAG -
Mixed greens cooked with garlic and chillies.
Garnished with cherry tomatoes and fried garlic.
A saag full of flavour, garlic, green chillies and mustard seeds worked beautifully together !

HYDRABADI MURG BIRYANI -
Long grained basmati rice dum cooked with chicken/brown onions/mint and whole spices.
Served with mirch ka salan and garlic raita.
The biryani was aromatic, had a beautiful flavour of saffron and even the meat flavour had seeped into the rice, delicious !

DESSERTS :-

- KESAR RASMALAI

- MALPUA

- ANGOORI RABDI

All the three desserts were fresh and delicious, I specially liked rabdi the most !

Overall, It was a scrumptious meal !
Each and every dish had a bold flavour profile but none of them felt too spicy or greasy.

Quality whole Indian spices were used in the making, they gave a beautiful flavour and "aroma" to the dishes.

The chef at Neel (who has learned cooking under Padma Shri Imtiaz Qureshi, the maestro of awadhi cuisine) has done a exceptional job, I was amazed to savour his vegetarian versions of traditional awadhi classics.

There are very few places in Mumbai where I like Indian food, Neel is one of them !

Go try indulge !

WHERE IS IT !?
Neel is located at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, it's near Haji Ali.

WHAT DOES IT SERVE !?
Neel is a awadhi cuisine restaurant.
It serves food of the nawabs that ranges from hydrabadi, Lucknowi and kashmiri.
The food is prepared using a modern approach and traditional spices that sourced from all over india.
Neel offers fifty varieties of vegetarian and non vegetarian kebabs along with mains and desserts.

WHAT I LIKED THE MOST !?

SOUP -

SHETBAR AUR PISTA KA SHORBA
A soothing warm asparagus soup with loads of chopped pistachios....
I even loved the desi ghee khurmas that came along !

APPETIZERS -

GILAWAT KE KABAB
Melt in your mouth minced mutton kababs served with crispy ulte tawa ka paratha.
Mild subtle flavours at it's best !

AWADHI SUNHERI JHINGA
Large juicy grilled prawns that have a fabulous saffron and black pepper flavour !
Spicy tomato chutney accompaniment was perfect !

SOYA SALMON TIKKA
Grilled Atlantic salmon fillets that had a beautiful marination of dill and cream.
Literally melted in my mouth, extremely delicious !!

MURG KARACHI KABAB
Beetroot marinated chicken kababs, served with keri and mint chutney.
A mild subtle flavour of pomegranate with a kick of java pepper(kabab chini) !!

NEEL KA MURGH PANJA -
Chicken leg tikka with a mild ginger cream flavour.
Very juicy and flavourful !

KAIRI PUDHINA MAHI TIKKA -
Grilled ravas flavoured with raw mangoes and mint !
A fish tikka with a fantastic tangy mango and fresh mint flavour !

MAINS -

MURG BARADARI KORMA -
A Lucknow speciality, chicken cooked in a rich brown onion and poppy seed gravy.
Extremely delicious, went well with warqi paratha and awadhi naan.

GHOST KI DUM BIRYANI -
Lucknowi mutton dum biryani that comes in a matka.
Fresh mint, brown onions and whole spices do the magic.
Fragrant flavourful bliss !!

DESSERTS -

PARDE KI KHUBANI
A delightful baked apricot halwa that had a crispy salty phyllo pastry crust outer and a gooey sweet halva filling inside !

NEEL RABDI ICE CREAM
A classic milk ice cream, tasted nice with the warm apricot halwa.

WHAT'S MY TAKE !?
Neel serves one of the best awadhi food Mumbai can offer !

Its authentic in it's flavour and texture yet not overly heavy on your stomach or your palate.

Ambiance is absolutely beautiful, service is warm !

Try it out !

Neel is a pure authentic Lucknowi and Aawadhi cuisine restaurant located at gate no 5 racecourse Turf club.

A great place for fine dining experience with racecourse view.ย

Head Chef of Neel - Chef Qureshi is 3rd generation chef belonging to family of Khansamas, so u can understand cooking is in their blood:)ย

Neel has an outdoor seating (non-ac), a private verandah section which can be even booked exclusively if you are a group of 25 and a fine dining air-conditioned area.

Service is really good and staff here is very courteous.
A special mention for Vijay Pandey who served us with a smiling face till the end.
I highly appreciate and acknowledge it.

Neel offers buffet as well as a la carte.

Coming to the Nawabi Khana we tried at Neel.....
Special thanks to Chef Sanjay who recommended us on what all to try...

๐Ÿ”ธ Soup

โ€ข Shetbar Aur Pista Ka Shorba
Asparagus and pistachio soup was mind blowing, so warm, rich and delicious.

๐Ÿ”ธStarters

โ€ข Aloo Panch - Foran
Perfectly marinated using mango pickle, these BBQ baby potatoes was one of the best starter I loved at Neel.
The charcoal aroma is just perfect.
A must try!

โ€ข Rajma Ki Galouti andย
โ€ข Basnu Aur Singhada Ka Kabab
These aromatic and flavoursome galouti kebabs were made perfect, but the strong flavors of all the ingredients used, didn't suit my taste buds alot.

โ€ข Jaituni Khumb Tikka
Tandoor cooked mushrooms, marinated in Green olives and spices paste.
Went bit too strong for me

โ€ข Peshawari Paneer Tikka
Paneer used is so soft that it melts in your mouth, it was super delicious.

๐Ÿ”ธMains

โ€ข Uttari Lahsooni Sag with Aawadhi Magaz Naan
Mixed green leafy veggies, flavoured with garlic and chilli went very well with crispy butter magaz Naan.

โ€ข Taazi Bhuni Sabzi with Bakhumaas Roti
Stir fried mix vegetable and the bakhumaas roti is the best combination.

โ€ข Khade Masala Ka Paneer with Ulte Tawa ka Paratha and Lachha Paratha.
This meal would have been incomplete without a paneer Sabji, this one was dry paneer masala sabji, it was nice but I had too many dry sabjis by that time, so I wish I had tried some paneer in gravy.
Both Parathas were good.
Infact all the rotis were made perfect.

The only Sabji I didn't like was Kashmiri Seb ki Sabji, apple curry.
This one is not meant for me, too bland and sweet.
This place is visited alot by all foreigners and they love this curry, and hence its one of the most popular sabji at Neel.

โ€ข Tarkari Dum Biryani
Long grain rice sealed with roti dough to allow all the spices to adjust and smoky flavor to get absorbed in the biryani.

๐Ÿ”ธ Desserts

โ€ข Parde Me Khubani (Baked Apricot Halwa)
Sinfully Delicious โค

โ€ข Neel Rabdi Ice cream
Fresh and delicious โค

๐Ÿ”ธ Mocktailsย

I tried like 3 4 Mocktails - Gauva, Peach, watermelon and the best one was Kokum.
Please mention them if you want your mocktails to be very chilled.

Overall my experience with them was good.
Few authentic dishes didn't suit me, few went bland for me, so my rating for food stay 4 but taking all points in consideration like ambiance, service and all I rate this place 4.5

I loved that it's one of the very few places who stick to the traditional flavours and cooking, this place purely serves Lucknowi, Aawadhi khaana, no fusion at all.

One of the restaurant in my Go to list for long, we decided to visit this place yesterday for celebrating my parents anniversary. I made the reservation through Zomato, the place has an old gymkhana feel to it, very cozy for a Sunday lunch. The place was busy and noisy inside where they have the bar, as they were hosting couple of big family tables around. We wanted to seat outside and though there was a table available it took us 10 minutes to convince the staff if we could have that, finally they agreed Thank you ! we were told the table which we wanted was reserved for another party of 6 but until we finished our lunch we didnโ€™t see any 6 pax table coming in !ย

Once we settled down in our preferred table, it all was good. They have a limited menu to choose from but the quality is very good, we order Pakhtooni Peshawari Boti, Bazari Murgh Tikka & Kairi Pudina Mahi Tikka, they were amazingly moist & flavorful. Specially the Mahi Tikka is a must try! Portion size is just perfect.

For the main course, we ordered a Murg Baradari Korma & Adraki Bhuna gosht, even both this dishes were very well prepared. Roti, Naan, Kulcha all are fresh and hot when served. We also ordered the Hyderabadi Murgh Biryani which was good as well.

Overall Service is very attentive, food is good and the ambiance is nice. Lot of kids running around our table while we were having lunch, not sure I would recommend this place for an intimate dinners as long as you donโ€™t mind kids running around.
ย

It deserves ย a 5/5 but the table issue in the beginning & the noisy ย kids around took that one point off.ย

Overall

Service: 4/5

Food Quality 4/5

Love was in the air on 14th February at the Neel. A special Valentines Day curated menu was what I was there for. Service with a smile and the perks of fine dining was in store.
The restaurant ambience was beautiful that evening, was all set for a fabulous evening with a Sparkling fratelli wine bottle.

The Menu

Amuse Bouche - Papri Chaat this was one thing that I can never get enough off. The Chaat was just irresistable.

The veg and non veg starters were cooked to perfection and went very well with wine

Laal Maas- Boneless delicious pieces of meat just melted in the mouth.

Sorbet - The sorbet served that evening was OK OK types.

Biryani - Excellent and served piping hot.

But like the saying goes "Save the best for last"

The dessert platter was to die for. Pista Juli, Gulab Jamie, angoori rabdi and malai barfi. A super treat for all with a sweet tooth.

A beautiful Valentine's Day as Neel. Will not forget this ever. Thank you.

Some of the best Indian food you will ever get to eat.
Must haves are their version of galouti kebab, the baida roti (which seemed unusual to order but was recommended by the steward) and the biggest shocker was their version of the chicken tikka which was outstanding.
Our main courses were also excellent. The jinga badam and anar curry was lovely.
Mutton biryani was lightly flavoured but excellent. Little heavy on ghee.
Desserts were also good.... but no comparison to the food.
All in all a superb meal.

Right from the starters to main course to deserts, they didn't gave a chance of saying anything!
Just select what you wanna have like chicken ,fish or seafood and ask for the suggestions from the staff N trust me they will not let you down! Would like to have more experiences soon!

So, we were always wanting to go to Neel since we had heard a lot about it from friends. Finally, an amazing offer came our way from insider.in in form of Small Plates Week. So, we landed up at Neel at about 1 PM for lunch and boy the place is beautiful and surrounded by greenery. We sat in the outside section which meant natural light which was wonderful. So, our set course menu had small portions of about 4 veg and 4 non-veg appetisers along with about 5 veg and 5 non-veg mains along with biryani and breads. We also had about 4 desserts which were malpua, an ice cream, rasmalai and gulab jamun. All were decadent. We especially loved the orange shorba and chicken shorba, both tasted heavenly. Our starters which included rawas tikka, chicken tikka, lamb seekh and prawns were all to die for. We absolutely loved the dal makhni, chicken do pyaza, paneer and prawns main course. All in all a definite must go and value for money offer which we grabbed!! Staff was hospitable and really helpful and supportive!!

Neel has a special atmosphere to begin with because it is located in the confines of the race course its quiet infact you could easily mistaken the experience of eating here for having dinner at a nice modern bungalow or house outside Mumbai. The decor is eccelectic modern with lovely terrazzo floors and adventurous roof!

The service is also great and you won't stop admiring the food long after you have eaten here. I suggest choosing off the beaten track which I did entertaining a group of nine people here for dinner. For appetizers we tried the beetroot and rajma kebab. Amazing! Followed by the paneer kebab which really was dominated by the taste of the rich paneer. For the non veg we had the chicken green masala kebab and a mutton seekh. The names in the menu were different and so were the actual dishes quite different from convention. In the mains I liked the khade masale ka kheema...the largest kheema chunks you'll find anywhere. The vegetable main was also great though I cannot remember the name.

Overall I highly recommend neel as it's a very unconventional Indian restaurant. It also offers peace and quiet which is not afforded by any of its competitors. For a large party one can budget about 1500 per person with drinks and no desserts.

Amazing experience it was to relish delicious food at Tote. We ordered murg ka panja which has 4 pieces of chicken leg and it has typical dhaba taste, great for starters. In main course we ordered lagaan ki nihari, it is a mutton curry with 6 pieces which is served with 2 small size naan.
Ambience is awesome, it is quite and spacious and very classy. You feel special once u enter the restaurant because that is the kind of service the staff provides.

This is one place where you should go till the time you finish tasting everything on the menu. The fish was well cooked served with the right amount of corainder mint sauce. Murg e khaas was also as khaas as the name. To lap up we had hot jalebi with rabdi which was an absolutely a sight and adish which you couldn't have said no to!

The portions are huge and the different breads are just something u should try.

The ambience is like any lifestyle club restaurant but the food beats any Michelin star when it comes to taste. I am going there as many times i can to taste all the murghs and the machli.

Classy and quiet. Serene and spacious. Neel is the perfect place for lazy lunches and long dinners. We were celebrating a friend's recent engagement here and it turned out to be a nice get together. The place has a nice feel, is well appointed and beautifully located at the Race Course.ย

We got us a large table near the bar and the sessions started. After a round of drinks both (alcoholic and mock) we went with most of the maitre d's suggestions for starters - tandoori aloo (quite lachile!) and rajma tikki (delicious) for the veg and kakori, gilawati (melt in ur mouth) and peshawari for the non-veg - all very well done. For the mains we ordered bhuni subzi, bhindi in yogurt, a lamb gravy, tandoori chicken gravy, some rawas and kabul ki dal to go with the fresh hot roties and lachcha parathas. We also did justice to the kesar rasmalai although we were bursting from the sides!ย

No matter what you eat at Neel, the ambaince makes it all the more better. So the next time you got lots of time on your hands (and not to forget money!) make for Neel.

Decided to have a family lunch here so did a table reservation, day in advance through the app. The table reservation process was seamless.

Reached a little early as less traffic being a Saturday. I suppose reaching early is not a problem for most of the restaurants so was showed in to our table by well attended staff.

Now this place is huge in seating capacity and has that old world charm to it. More on the lines of British era gymkhana feel. Of course this diner is on the premises of the Race course so that says it all. The ambience is simple with well laid out tables , ample space between tables. I like that as gives a fine dining experience.

We started with the drinks and starters. The Lychee punch was good with a tangy taste. Also I liked the Basnu Singhada Kabab - the name is deceptive but these are lamb kababs which ย one should try. Soft and tender with the right amount of spice.

Followed up with the main course which was a paneer dish and a chicken gravy dish with rotis and parathas. Good food served hot and fine on the taste palette.

Topped it off with a Ilaichi Jamun which was hot and very tasty.ย

All in all a good dining experience , attentive staff and good ambience.

There is ample parking so that is not a worry. Probably on a Sat or Sunday evening could be a challenge.

Would reccomend this place if you are looking for a quiet lunch or dinner with family & friends.

We had dinner on Wednesday 4/8. We ordered a Rawas curry dish but were surprised that it did not taste as Rawas. On checking with Waiter he stated that it was Rawas. On checking with the Steward he too insisted that it is Rawas. The Steward was asked to go and check with the cook. He sheepishly returned to inform us that it was BASA. While we enjoyed the Starters this was a dampener. I for one detest a pass over.

Beautiful place to conduct small events. Recently attended the Benetton Perfume event and was amazed with this place as it gives you so much of open place along with the indoor sitting Overall itโ€™s a decent place

Neel has become another restaurant on our list where the food quality remains consistently good over time. Its not as noisy as other restaurants and a great place for a friends / family dinner where you want to talk to one another (without shouting) and enjoy your food. Dal Makhani is just excellent.

Good food, Serene atmosphere and extremely wonderful service... We had booked the place for a Pvt party for around 35 ppl.. A separate space was alloted with separate entry... The frequency of starters which was served was lovely with courteous staff very politely offering the same to each and every staff.. Highly recommended..
