Would visit this place again, this is the best Veg Restaurant I have ever been too..
Would strongly recommend everyone to be at this place to enjoy yummy Rajasthani food..
Thank you team #thebombayhavelli for your service.
Excellent food, good hospitality, great ambience and choice of unique yet familiar taste of food served in style.... Really loved the place. Moreover, it's location and heritage look add to the positives of the place.
Though dis place was never heard of by us before from any of our acquaintance... we randomly ended up being at dis place by a quick surf on Zomato for Rajasthani or Gujarati cuisine... so glad we landed at dis place....
We were with our infant and thus were looking for a family friendly restaurant... sup wen we entered dis place dey hv two set up... ground floor and mezzanine floor.. And for two ppl dey insisted on sitting at d ground floor set up as mezzanine is meant for big groups... on insisting dey did allow us for d mezzanine and we r glad as d ambience der is comparatively better... and has that typical small colourful wooden chairs wid Indian art work.. D typical Rajasthani touch...
Coming to food, we wanted to order Rajasthan n Gujarati cuisine but to our delight we found dis place serves parsi food as well and my better half loves parsi food..
~~~Food we ordered~~~
Starters~
>kothmir corn kebab-- must tryyyy
>cheese tukdi
Main course~
>Parsi Dhansak
>methi thepla, lahsuniya bateta ane chundo.. (Loved d veggie n chundo bt d methi theplas to our surprise were too crisp jst like khakras ;))
> Dal baati church (regular portion which was good enuf for two of us)
> Papa churi (the typical Rajasthan style)
Food -5/5
Ambience-3.5/5
Service-4/5
Overall experience-4/5
Food is super yumm n you can go with staff recommendations once you let dem know d cuisine you are looking for..😋
Food is tasty and worth going! Service is a bit slow, but worth the wait. Paratha's are great and platter is also worth trying! Visit for a good eating experience!
Awesome place... Must visit place.... Gujarati food was great and Staff was also very cooperative. Good place to hangout with friends.. great
Love the fact that they have a disabled waiter who was always smiling... We were apprehensive about the food initially but later were pleasantly surprised... Quantity is rly awesome so order wisely... Dal dhokli rabdi and sev khamni in particular were delicious
From food to staff to ambience, this place deserves praise. Completely veg, their food is a must try if you want good Indian food. Their staff also has differently abled wait staff and servers and must say they are the most warm and willing hosts I've come across, full points to them for being so warm and always willing to help. Try their tomato basil, chole and dal makhni with some kulchas and chapati, simple but tasty. While they are value for money being on gold just adds to it.
The food was good , worth spending money here . For all the Jain foodie people ,you guys can visit this place and enjoy your food . I would give 4.5 for the food , 4 for the ambience and 3.5 for the for the service
Very good experience..staff was very friendly esp mohit who is very hard working and warm...we had ordered papad churi which is a must have dish...paneer lifafa; yumm.. Daal batti churma which was very rich in taste..sev tomato sabzi..but the best dish was ola with bajra roti..very authentic..overall a good place with polite staff and comfortable ambience..
Really pleasant restaurant, the ambience is really calm. The food is really authentic and feels like home. Is a must visit for people who live Guju and Parsi cuisine.
Best place for Gujarati food..Rabdi jalebi is something you must have over here..it has a family plus friendly Ambience..only the service should improve a bit.
Warning: Long post alert.
The Bombay Havelli! - the name sounded really funky when my friend told me about the hotel which he runs.
He had given me a rough idea about the menu prior to my visit and I was damn excited to try out their dishes. I went there on a Saturday afternoon.
Ambience:-
The first thing that caught my attention is the humongous mural on the wall on the left. It adds a charismatic vibe to the entire place!
Then I noticed a strange device located right next to the stairs. It was an electronic chair to assist the disabled /elderly/pregnant women to reach the Mezzanine floor. Turns out that this is one of the very few restaurants in Mumbai that have such a facility.
Although the restaurant is capable of hosting 90 people, it is certainly not one of those places which will make you scream on top of your voice to talk to your buddies sitting right across the table. So the music volume is just about perfect.
Service:-
The service was extremely quick in the afternoon. The staff really know their dishes and can help you not only decide which dish to order but also suggest customizations specific to your order. But what really touched my heart is the fact that they have employed a couple of differently abled staff members. At first it is almost impossible to figure it out as they would do their tasks swiftly & serve you with a smile.
Food:-
The food is totally 'hatke'. It's a refreshing break from the regular food that we can expect from restaurants.
We ordered the following:
Chhaas: Plain and simple
Farsan platter: It had a bunch of mouth watering items, but I particularly liked the cheese tukdi.
Paneer lifafa: This is a must have item. Your visit will be incomplete without it.
Khichiya papad: This was the Baap of masala papads. It is served in a bhel form so you can have it with a spoon thereby eliminating the need to get your handy messy. Watch out for the huge quantity though.
I underestimated the size of the starters and so I went a little easy on the main course. A good point to note is that you get to order the main course items in either Large or Regular quantities. I went with the regular ones:
Veg Tawa Masala: This was similar to the one we get at marriage ceremonies. You can't go wrong with this!
Chapatis: Freshly made chapatis oozing with ghee added a homely feel to the food
Veg biryani: They use extra long grain rice and it makes a lot of difference to the overall taste of the biryani. Needless to say it was generous with vegetables
Desserts:- (Why else did you think we went with regular plates in the main course :P)
Motichoor Gulab Jamun Parfait: It had a Gulab jamun at it's base, covered with motichoor and at the very top was a layer of Rabdi.
It was served in a mini glass. Best part is that you get 3 such glasses in one order :D
Last words....
To sum it up, I felt that the management have put a lot of thought in not just the food that they serve but also the manner in which they deliver their service. As I knew the co-owner, I got a chance to sneak peak into the kitchen. It was nice and clean. I was told that they ensure that there is no food wastage. They happily donate their leftover food everyday to an NGO that caters to the underprivileged. The staff seemed like a happy lot and according to me, this is the main reason why they are able to bring a smile on their customers.
Aao kabhi Havelli pe ;)
Food is pretty good.
Quantity is well defined - small is for 2 people and large is for 3 people. Quantity of small is efficiently sufficient for 2 people, not more and not less.
Chole bhature is nice. Chole has good gravy and well cooked chana in it.
Veg biryani is also pretty good. Not too spicy.
Khichia churi is also good.
All this for 2 people in lunch was pretty good.
Overall, loved the food experience.
The first thing that catches your eye is the beautiful wall painting depicting the traditional village scenary . The seating arrangement has a royal touch to it. We ordered the global platter which was yum. It's a must when you order it. Other dishes we ordered were gatte ki sabzi with roti, Alfredo pasta and jalebi rabari. The jalebi rabari was too delicious. Overall we were highly satisfied with our visit.
This is a place to go with your loved ones on special occasions as the ambience is awesome and so the food.punjabi moghlai are famous and don't miss the traditional mithais yummy mouth watering.
Good food, ok ambience, nice to see they employ deaf and dumb people as staff. Service is a little slow but the excellent food makes up for it.
Very tasty food, awesome Jalebi and very good staff
Nice place for traditional food, viz. Gujarati, Rajasthani, Punjabi.. we had Jain food here..
I liked Paneer Lifafa, lachha paratha, Dal-baati, sizzler sabzi, Khichhiya Churi..
Ambiance was ok. So it's preferable for those who want to experiment food rather than ambiance..
Small place.. ambience may not be quite like a haveli. But service was pretty quick and food fresh. Portions were just right for two. Mostly employs differently abled. There is a unique chair lift for differently abled to get to the first floor where there are bigger tables and small rest room. The rest room has a water closet with 'safe seat' too. Thali is not in the menu.
Kutubkhan Indorewala (KKArts)
+4
Ambiance at this place is not so great.
Food is damn tasty but the quantity will make you think twice before revisiting.
According to the quantity of food the price is too much, but still its in South Bombay so justified.
Me being a hard core Non vegetarian rarely goes to a pure veg restaurant. But at Bombay havelli I was in for a surprise.
What stood out the most was the quality and taste of the food.
The veg platter had a mix of Gujarati marwadi and Italian dishes...perfect blend. Must order
Seasonal aamras and puri was delicious
In main course we had ordered lasagne and paneer pulaav.
I am pretty sure u order any dish here and your taste buds are going to love it.
I have cut 1 star only bcoz of the maintainance of the restaurant. it's just been a year and you can see cracks in the wall, paint come off , not pleasing to the eye.
But as long as veg food goes this is a place to visit
