Great place for seafood. Was here on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered the tandoori Surmai, king prawns tawa fry and rawas salt pepper. All were outstanding in taste and freshness. The beer was super chilled which was welcoming. Dessert was furniture, kesar kulfi and matka phirni. The staff is very nice. Welcoming and had a sense of humour when we were joking with them. The manager was also very friendly.
I would certainly go here than any other touristy sea food joint in fort.
It has a real Bombay-Mumbai feel. All classic wooden furniture with very clean and pleasant atmosphere.

I ordered for Fish Thali from swiggy. The Thali consisted of Surmai Fish Curry + Bombil Rawa Fry 2 Pcs + Veg Bhaji + Half Steamed Rice + 3 Chapati + Green Chutney + Solkadhi + Salad + Pickle & all this for Rs.290. I was amazed at the price. coz Surmai one piece in Pratap is around 450 Rs and here I am getting all this for Rs. 290. Wonderful. Coming to the food the Bombil Rawa Fry was delicious and yummy fried properly and soft melting in the mouth. The surmai curry was good but the surmai was not that fresh just ok. Solkadhi - spicy and tangy could be a little less spicy couldn't drink too much. The Bombil Rawa fry amazing must try
I also tried the Mutton Thali - Mutton Curry + Mutton Sukka + Veg Bhaji + Half Steamed Rice + 3 Chapati + Green Chutney + Solkadhi + Salad + Pickle and this just for Rs.330.
The mutton sukka delicious gravy, tender mutton and good 4 pieces. The Mutton gravy yummy delicious. Veg Bhaji was spoilt it has mutter paneer it was spoilt and smelling. Threw it out.

Chicken Manchurian Rice - Yummy Manchurian gravy with 4 huge pieces of tender chicken and coated very well in the sauce. The fried rice amazing pieces of chicken. It was good that it had lots of chicken unlike others who put lots of egg and say chicken fried rice. Just felt that the chicken was way too big like chunks of chicken hence it didn't mix well with the rice. I wouldnt say put less chicken but size should be little small. Impressed by the chinese and Sea food variety
This bar is known for cocktail drinks and some snacks ,we ate here for dinner almost 10th times I guess more than 10th times , The restaurant becomes full with customers ,lots of people downstairs so we decided to go upstairs we usually to go upstair only, the food is delicious and has great portions place , decent ambiance

Day 1: Ambiance is nice. our order was chicken tandoori (taste is good correct flavors right amount of chilies and spices.)
well they have a very good crew, they show interest in the customer, asking them about food quality (there was nothing to complain fyi) serving the food on your plates puoring drinks and making the desired drinks large small etc well very happy with their coustomer service.
one gesture of them which i liked very much was while we were eating and drinking the table had got water accumulated from condensation of cold water, drinks etc they picked up the plates and cleaned the table so it was looking cleaned and i personally liked this act of them so nice and thoughtful. because when i told them no need to clean we are almost done they said it dosent looks good so let us do it.
one more thing they do is that they cover your food with the plate so it stays little warm and nothing falls on your food which you are not eating.
overall i was really happy with the staffs dedication towards the customer.
not to forget the polite gatekeeper/security guard. he has a smile on his place and is always wishing irrespective of how many times you go in and out from the place.
great job i felt really happy just seeing these people work so good really appreciate. keep it up.
Day2: We had this cheese cherry pineapple very nice. repeated yesterday's tandoori chicken and 1 plate liver. the captain suggested what type of gravy to go for and once served he was kind enough to ask about the dish. well review is too long.

We tried their tawa fry pomfret,rawas tandoori, halwa masala along with chilled beer which was tasty.
Would recommend try their masala or gravy dishes sea food with rice; a good combination.

Well if you are looking for Drinks and Dinner in fort area Dis is the best option.Located at Fort its a Family Restaurant and bar.Went for dinner on Sat night.We were around 10 people and ordered variety of dishes.They serve very good and fresh seafood.Pricing here is average not so high affordable for your pockets.I personally loved their Service it was fab. As it was a Saturday night the restaurant was crowded but still they took care of us so affectionately. THANKS A LOT TEAM WILL SURELY VISIT AGAIN...:)

The place is conveniently located in Mumbai’s prime business centre. Interiors design is superbly created. We settled down with beer and in starter, we opted for Surmai Tawa fry which was fresh and good in size as well as in taste, properly marinated by Indian spices.
Indeed it is a good place for wine & dine to catch up with dear and near ones after office hours and during the day too....
Dakshin Bar & Kitchen is a nice place to eat and drink just in one block from Travellers Inn Hotel. I ate Veg Kadai and it appeared to be delicious. I also liked the service which was much pleasant. They brought the food and drinks pretty fast. There is also a bar with a good choice of drinks (liquors and beers) and tables in a smoking area outside. The ambiance is pretty relaxing.
I went yesterday in afternoon with my 2 friends. We ordered our regular thats dal tadka and kadai paneer. Taste was very good. Service was also nice.
A typical vintage place in town where you would want to drop by after work and have a drink or two (or more!) with your friends. With drinks at reasonable prices, Dakshin also has amazing food. Their starters both in chicken and fish are amazing. Service is quite prompt. Mr. Ali did recommend some good dishes and was polite and courteous. We had fish tawas tikka for starters and chicken rozali kabab which were lip-smacking. When it came to main course the choice was unanimous - butter chicken and naan. The butter chicken hit the right notes. It was not too sweet as many hotels make it these days. "Always trust a bar with its butter chicken", said my brother and he was bang on. We wanted to try their fish curry and fish fry but were too full to order that. Until next time then Dakshin.
Why is this not on the hidden gems list?? I absolutely loved everything about this place. It felt like a place where you can drink, eat, have fun and not feel bad about it a d most importantly it does not burn a big hole in your pocket. The staff here is so sweet, it just adds up to the experience. I am so impressed with their food. We ate their fish tikka, excellent quality cubes of ravas, marinated perfectly in red masala and melt in the mouth tender. The chicken rozali kabab was a novelty, a sort of a chicken roulade stuffed with minced chicken and melty cheese, perfect accompaniment for your drinks. I was stumped (pun intended) since the IPL is on - with the butter chicken. It was just wow. Damn I feel like having another serving of that butter chicken now :( Great place, superlative food.

Huge bar set up and lot of space to sit and drink. From outside it might feel like it is a regular shady bars of mumbai but it is actually quite famous and they have regular guest visiting the place which include lot of foreigners.
It is at a lovely location and south mumbai or town in night is just amazing.
Do not miss their manglorian style thali or chicken sukka. It is quite good and affordable as well.
You can visit couple times a week for both food and alcohol.

Hi I had been here with my fly for diwali lunch . Nice place with good staff. The person from the counter himself had come to tell us about their speciality food items he was very co operative. We had ordered veg spring roll which was very yummy and neer dosa mutton thali, pamlet fish in 2 styles one portion in red tandoori style and the other half portion in green paste it was very tasty and we had bombil fry it was very nicely cooked and they had given this green pudina with dahi chutney which was very tasty also and and the quantity was also good . It's a cool place for dinner and drinks located close to CST. There is a wide range of beverages and food. The tandoori snacks are good. There are a few cabins if going with family which can seat about 7-8 people. The staff is enthusiastic and the service is prompt.

Dakshin Bar And Kitchen the first ever restaurant where I visited which was a bar ! A good place to sit . A spacious restaurant having a big bar , TV around following with stairs and a large room upstairs with A/C. Like normally with tables and chairs and sofas with tables . Had a good ambience and a nice place to enjoy with friends in our budget .
So finally we started our evening with snacks that's was chakli with green and red chutney , masala papad (garnished with tomatoes , onions and coriander ) Kicha fry papad ( a big round size of papad , tasted much better with green chutney )
Drinks : Budweiser beer and Sula white wine, mojito ( a cool drink with lemon and fudina inside ) , fruit punch (strawberry and pineapple taste )
Main : crispy chicken ( small pieces of chicken , mixed with spring onions , mild spicy , tasted good )
Onion bhajiyas ( v crisp , loved the bhajiyas more , served with tomato sauce )
Chicken lollipop ( 7 pieces In a plate served with red chutney , the down part covered with a foil , neatly garnished with spring onions .
The service I could say is fine , they just need to increase the speed , coz v had to wait for a long time not only for food but also for the bill .

We visited this place on a busy afternoon and we were looking for a good joint for lunch during our official visit, our cab driver suggested us this place. The restaurant has a thali concept so all of us went for thali. Someone went for fish thali, the other one went for mutton thali and I went for chicken thali. All of us felt that the food was very tasty n nice..just the restaurant needs to work on cleanliness as there was a stincking smell when we were sitting.
Unlike my past experience of this place, this time it was awesome! The food veg. And non veg both was tasty. We ordered chicken rozali, prawns butter garlic was finger licking good., veg crispy and cheese corn ball was also too good. Quantity also was good. Finally, happy with this neighborhood outlet and had a good time.
Perfect spot to make up for lost time with companions for a beverage & great food. I wasn't expecting anything unique, yet I was enjoyably amazed by the mindful staff and liberal portions. The food is great.. Rates are extremely sensible. Most likely one of the better alternatives in the Fort territory.

Dakshin is located at a prime location (Fort) in Mumbai. And it is because of this superb location, you will always find it full of people having drinks with friends or having lunch/dinners.
I visited this place with a friend on a hot summer afternoon. Our main aim, obviously was to quench our thirst with a chilled beer.
The entire place is air conditioned with a neat sitting arrangement and good service. We ordered beer and as we were hungry too, ordered a full meal of fish thali.
The beer was chilled, fish was fresh and prepared well. The service is quick with the staff offering some really good menu suggestions. Overall, the place is good.

Have you ever wanted to go to place where you can have a nice meal,drink but also take your female friends as well and keep everything withing budget, then this is the place. The ambience has a smooth minimalistic theme. The food is really good and the service is nice too. Alcohol is not too expensive considering the ambience. I always have a good time when I go to Dakshin. Economical so that's an added advantage.
Everything is good about this place - traditional food, service, ambience but the great thing is how light it is in the pocket. I am yet to see this combination in fort or nearby area. Had been there few times with a large group of friends and the servers were pretty accommodating even considering it was fairly busy. Alcohol is reasonably priced, but would avoid cocktails. Avoid sitting on the mezzanine, as the ceiling is low and becomes quiet noisy. Order every non veg dish and you wont regret it, I really cant recall the names, well you can guess why. Whatever you do only order the full chicken handi only if you are 10 or more and only planning on having the main course. The taste is really good but could not finish it off. Great for a large group, must visit with friends, except on a dry day.
The food is truly awesome - a non vegetarian delight especially if you are a fan of sea food. Truly inspiring - the mock tails need some resurrection - they are not at all drinkable being either too sweet or out of taste. Barring that, the taste buds are in full flow when the delicacies are served. The prawns as starters with paneer crispy and chicken are mouth watering. The typical mangalorean chicken sukka and neer dosa are beautifully prepared - so are the Indian varieties of chicken handi and surmai preparation. A big thumbs up for all sea food lovers.

Had a amazing time with friends and enjoyed delicious thali food.
We entire group had been here after a long walk in the afternoon for lunch. We ordered for mutton thali, prawns thali, bombil fry and sweet and sour lime juice.
The thali for mutton and prawns was done well. We enjoyed every bit of it. The bombil fry sort of had a different feeling in itself. But...wait, the best was yet to come... The shevai (sweet dish) was served without our notice, and we relished every sip....few of my friends did make the statement "having cherry on the cake" and blah blah, to many jokes and laughter moments were just created out of the blue.......
The ambiance is good and well maintained. Hot drinks are served too.
The waiters were cooperative we captured time,...............we captured moments.
Nice place for a get together and the bill was a pocket budget.

Stumbled upon this place due to the amazing decor that they had in their entrance passage, looked so lit with the swing and the Christmas vibe all together. Decided to go heavy on mains this time since I was extremely hungry! We started off with the Dakshin special kebabs - 3 different types of tender juicy chicken so well marinated you'll be licking your fingers.
Later decided to go for the chicken tikka biryani and chicken gravy with neer dosa. The Biryani was definitely the highlight, quantity is a lot and just so well made, you'll not wanna stop eating this at all. The neer dosa was super good too, worth it overall. Definitely recommend you to dine in here, go for it!

Visited Dakshin bar and kitchen with my family recently. Loved the vibe, ambience and food. For starters we ate Veg Kinale and Hari Mirch prawns. Both are a must try! For main course we tried their Malabar chicken gravy with appam, that’s our personal favourite now. For drinks we ordered Virgin mojito and Mojito Blue lagoon and we ended it all with Brownie with ice cream for dessert. We sure had a great time!
