Review Excellensea - Mumbai

Great place to come and enjoy seafood. They have live crabs to choose from. Even if you are not a seafood person they have some really good options in chicken and mutton. The service is a bit slow but the food is worth the wait. I'm saying this as we were the only ones in the restaurant yet it took pretty long for our order to come. Other than that everything was perfect. Everything we ordered was excellent even the variety or pickles laid on the table were amazing. There is a really clean and well kept washroom. Valet parking is also available.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the renowned restaurant Bharat Xcellensea at Fort 😍after years of longing for seafood. The ambiance was absolutely incredible and full of energy. I had a wonderful interaction with Mr. Denzil, the Restaurant Manager, who assisted us in selecting our menu. We enjoyed a fantastic appetizer of Prawns with Raw Mango and Surmai Masala Fry and of course the main course we had succulent pieces of chicken sukkah with neer dosa combination.. it was just cooked to perfection🥰 The staff, including Mr. Vrushab and Sheik🫡, were incredibly helpful, always smiling and extending warm gestures. Additionally, the housekeeping staff Ms. Reshma and the welcoming smile at the door from Mr. Luckwinder Singh contributed to the overall great experience.😊 A big thank you to the team for your outstanding hospitality that made our evening truly special. We will definitely be back again soon!❤️❤️❤️

Mumbai’s iconic seafood restaurant Bharat Excellensea is located on the ground floor of Bharat House at Fort and is close to CSTM. Anyone with a penchant for seafood in Mumbai will remember BE for excellent fresh seafood at a price that doesn’t dent hole in your pocket. They serve culinary delights from Kerala, Tamilnadu and even Thailand. To ensure authenticity and freshness seafood is sourced everyday, spices are brought from Kerala and coconut are ferried from Mangluru. The place is bright and cheerful with French windows, beige facade, natural fabrics, muted tones, comfortable seating arrangements and floor to ceiling arched windows. A flight of stairs takes you to the upper deck with a large cobalt blue map of Aapli Mumbai. The stairs takes you to the mezzanine alcove with ornamental fish tanks for decor. The ambiance is deeply inspired by the Mumbai’s sea connections. The Outrageously delicious food cooking spikes endorphins. We tried some of their iconic dishes and were extremely impressed with their preparations & presentations. ♦️Virgin Pinacolada ♦️Strawberry Delight ♦️Crab meat soup ♦️Excellensea prawns tandoori ♦️Rawas masala Fry ♦️Mutton Pepper ♦️Prawns Gassi with Neer Dosa We ended our meals with delightful and refreshing desserts. Each dessert was unique in taste and felt like a reassuring hug. Each can be crowd puller on their own. Desserts tried: ♦️Tub Tim Grob ♦️Elaneer Payasum The services are quick, staff is courteous and proudly offers the best to suit your interests. We were supported by Mr. Nawaz, who was highly professional and respectful. A must visit place to connect to our roots when in Mumbai with authentic preparations, flavors, and efficient services.

One of the finest places if you are looking to enjoy some delicious range of seafood. The freshest catch can be experienced here. I personally love the food over here. The place has been revamped all over and the menu is designed by none other than Chef Ananda Solomon. Recently dropped in by for dinner and the we tried couple of things and it was just fabulous. Loved the ambiance, its simple & sober. The manager Ryan is such a gentleman who made sure we had a great experience and recommended us the best of best. Even the service didn’t lack anywhere behind. The portions are simply sufficient between 2 people and worth the price. What we tried and loved *Tandoori Prawns *Tawa Surmai Fry in Mangalorean Style *Crab Soup *Tisryanche Sukhe *Crab Gassi with Neer Dosa & Appam Cant wait to visit again with my family

Wow. What a place. Was looking for seafood restaurants in South Mumbai and found this. Tried the Prawns Ghee roast, sukkha clams, Masala Surmai Fish, Prawns Rava fry and some vegetarian starters. The owner was also gracious. Excellent food and highly recommend

Tried Bombil masala fry, Surma fry, Calms sukha, Prawns gassi with idiappam. The food was awesome. The founder Suraj Salian has restarted after a gap of three years. The place is renovated. Good service with good food.

Excellensea is back with a new brand name Bharat Excellensea. Vibe is good post the renovation. Food was reasonably good , Though could have been better if there were no mis-communication in the explanation for the crab preparation. We tried this fish called Lady fish for the 1s t time , and it was really tasty and the ghee roast preparation was tasteful. Crab we hoped could have been in its og form for us to gorge , it was de-shelled though good but the meat got lost in the gravy . Lobster thermidore was fantastic! And the best was the sweet dish very tongue twisting name it had , but it was a concoction of coconut water with water chestnuts , It was sinful!

Had dinner at Excellensea which is now run by Ananda Solomon of Thai Pavilion fame. Crab festival going on. Started with the prawn cocktail and mango prawns followed by Baked crab, Singapore crab, tandoori crab and crab in butter garlic. Main course butter chicken and mutton sukka. The crab tandoori and Singapore crab were excellent and the baked crab and butter garlic were not as good as the first two. Mutton sukka was delicious and tender. Service with a smile and a very relaxed ambience. Meal for four was approximately 13000.

Visiting Bharat Excellensea after 15 years, I was glad to meet up with the expectations. The restaurant is filled with great food and is known for their crab. Our waiter Sudhir was extremely hospitable and suggested great dishes from the menu. The Malabar crab and coconut sweet dish is a must try. Overall I had a great meal at Bharat Execellensea restaurant.

Bharat Excellenssea..a lost legacy<br/>Used to be my dad's favourite in SoBo among host of other similar restaurants in the good ol' days.<br/>Unfortunately, a subsequent visit to Bharat didn't bring back the good ol' memories.<br/>While the ambiance was good and service prompt, I wasn't really convinced with the food.<br/>Our Order:<br/>-Chicken Manchow soup<br/>-Surmai Tava Fry<br/>-Surmai Gassi<br/>-Chicken Gassi

I'm a person who sees reviews and then only goes to e<br/>restaurant. I did the same with this restaurant and it was the most shittiest restaurant I've ever been to. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There was water spilled everywhere. The a/c wasn't working. The food was third grade. We ordered surmai fry as suggested and we got all burnt pieces. We ordered chicken ghassa which was okay

Once a great place, now the food quality is really bad.<br/>We ordered prawns Koliwada, prawns in butter pepper garlic, rawas gassi, neer dosa, surmai tawa fry. None of the items were good.<br/><br/>The quantity is to less for even one person to eat. Plus the taste was too bad. Had a horrible experience today.<br/><br/>The fish was not even fresh. Rawas gassi was smelling bad. Prawns were not properly cooked.<br/><br/>They were short of many things today, Sol Kadi, Chaas, Biryani 😠<br/><br/>Service is very delayed.. One order atleast took more than 20 mins to be served, despite of less public.<br/><br/>Jai Hind, Ferry Warfh are places with good taste and hygiene.<br/><br/>Really very disappointed.

Strange that I've heard so much about this place but I didn't find their fare all that impressive. The interiors feel like I've walked into a Sanjay Leela Bhansali set & the service was keen & attentive but I was not very impressed with their fried Bombil (which is arguably my favourite dish to order in all seafood establishments). I'm not dissing the quality. The quality seemed just fine but it felt like perhaps I was there on an off day or perhaps this was another one of those eateries (like Ankur) that once boasted of great food but now are merely shadows of their previous selves. Would I give this restaurant another chance? I honestly don't know.

Restaurant known for sea food. <br/>We ordered:- <br/>Prawns excellenssea:- just so yumm! Couldn’t resist yourself from not wanting more. <br/><br/>Butter chicken:- on an average a decent butter chicken 🍗 <br/><br/>Surmai tawa fry masala:- dissatisfied, as the gravy wasn’t at all up to the mark. Tasted v weird. <br/>Fish quality was good, gravy wasn’t. <br/><br/>Neer dosa:- fluffly soft and amazing<br/><br/>Quantity:- 4/5<br/>Quality:- 5/5<br/>Pricing:- 3/5 <br/><br/>A bit on costlier side. <br/>Overall a decent experience.

Disappointed. The once lovable and affordable joint has been reduced to shambles. With leaky AC’s , peeling wallpapers and stale fish. Back in the day, we have entertained friends and family from around the world at this place . Now, it’s a shady and dingy place, with disappointing food, even lacking the taste of nostalgia.

Located in Fort this place serves the best seafood<br/>The ambience is nice with dim lights and the food is worth the cost.<br/>We ordered<br/>Pomfret tawa fry-₹1300<br/>The fish was nice and juicy with a perfect blend of their typical fish masala<br/>Prawns gassi-₹380<br/>with a slight taste of coconut and prawn curry it was yum and taste better with neer dosa<br/>Prawn dum biryani-₹400<br/>Fish dum biryani-₹400<br/>The biryanis were loaded with spices less oil and the quantity is sufficient for 2 persons<br/>Overall a must try if you crave for seafood.<br/>

This cool seafood restaurant was my Mumbaikar cousin's recommendation. There were live crab and a great assortment of seafood here.<br/><br/>We chose one of the large crabs, and were asked to try it cooked in an Indian coastal gravy, and I feel butter garlic would have suited it better. Our shrimp dish was amazed and served in ExcellenSEA sauce I'd definitely recommend it. Neer dosa was an interesting accompaniment, kind of like a really soft and thin dosa.

I went here with my parents for the first time. I ordered Prawns in Coriander Sauce, Rawas Gassi, Surmai Fry, Neer Dosa and Steam Rice<br/>Firstly, Prawns in Coriander sauce were not that authentic as recommended by the steward. The prawns were not fresh and it was stinking. Moreover, it was not properly cooked and the sauce was not nicely and properly tossed. The garlic and coriander were uncooked. It was the worst. <br/><br/>Rawas Gassi- The curry was fine and fabulous, but the pieces of Rawas was not that efficient which it should. It was uncooked and as a piece it was not properly structured. <br/><br/>Steam Rice- It was half cooked. I don't understand how the chef can prepare half cooked rice for sea food cuisine. This rice is suitable for Chinese and Thai cuisine, but not at all for sea food. <br/><br/>Finally, while paying the bill, their POS wasn't working. I have to go to ATM to withdraw the money. How can A grade hotel can keep only one POS? It is so odd and didn't understand the concept at all. <br/><br/>I won't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Its better to go to Mahesh Lunch Home. They are much better than them and have a varieties of dishes.

We were here for the Bombil Fry, and it did not disappoint! This was our first time trying this fish, one side recommending that fish while others discouraged us from trying it. We actually liked it! The flesh of Bombil is extremely delicate, so kudos to the chef's for frying them in a sturdy breading to keep them in one piece. The fish is not 'fishy' at all, or and not strong tasting, there were a briny flavour to the fish that's delectable and fresh-tasting.<br/><br/>We also had the house-specialty prawns, which was nice. I also ordered Vegetable Dum Briyani, which was quite good and I was happy with the amount of vegetables in it!<br/><br/>My friend, who aren't a fan of seafood and further scared off by the negative opinions on Bombil, ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan.<br/><br/>Chicken Tikka Masala was very nice and juicy, with a delicately nutty and lemon-y marinade. The Garlic Naan, however, was overcooked to a hard cracker which made eating somewhat difficult.<br/><br/>We ended up sharing our dishes, including the Bombil Fry (Taste-tested by yours truly first). We were also provided with warm lemon water in small metal bowls to wipe out hands clean after the meal (and the ubiquitous aniseed and sugar palate cleanser).<br/><br/>We were seated on the second floor, which is set up like a lounge bar, with the dimly lit rooms and leather chairs and sofas. It's not a setup aimed for younger diners, but the food is good and the service is quite thorough.

As the name suggests this is a seafood speciality restaurant. Really Good food nice staff. Highly recommends for non veg lovers.............

As the name suggests, specialising in sea food.<br/>Fish, prawns, squid and u name it.<br/>The freshest from the sea.<br/>In fact they show u the fish size and catch it from their tank...<br/>Not pocket friendly though for the budget foodies
Mrunal Utekar
Food is tasty but service is pathetic, we need to wait to order the food for 10 min after which the food comes in 30 min.. Pathetic service..
Pratik Choubey
The food was good and service was also great but at the time of billing the hotel staff(not manger) told us to pay bill in cash as there POS is hs stopped working at the very moment.ours bill being in 5 figures it was impossible to pay in Cash.we insisted to pay by card or Internet banking then the staff tried to provide us with bank details of the floor captain however we again reminded them that the bill be paid only in the hotels A/c and not in the name of an employee.<br/>The hotel being under renovation it was doubtful and the staff was acting in a strange manner as manager or owner was not present.<br/>It was impossible to believe that such a reputed hotel has only one POS.<br/>MANAGEMENT should take a look in this matter.

We enter the restaurant and it's all vacant.. we get so happy that we can eat peacefully... And there u go..the nightmares starts..<br/>Chicken clear soup instead of manchow..<br/>Service is sooooo slow..a snail would be faster...<br/> There are no portions at all to serve... We are being asked to eat fish dishes instead of what we want to eat...<br/>Only 4 peices of paneer in paneer chilly and we are told that how much can we eat?? We won't be able to have more than one portion...who are these ppl to decide??<br/>

Went on a Saturday afternoon after a long time.. The ambience is changed and looks cruddy at best. Dark, dingy and you better watch out for your head. Can't comment on service quality as service does not exist. Untrained staff and I ended up with chutney being dropped all over me. The staff did not even care to apologize and of course.... The manager was not available. Food quality was below average. The sea food soup was bland and salty while the rawas gassi was way to spicy... The only saving grace is that the fish was fresh. Not the kind of place I would return to.... You can save yourself this torture.

Best sea food restaurant in mumbai. Have been coming to this place since ages. Its been renovated and looks good. I prefer to go on a Saturday night because its less crowded and the food is amazing. The seafood is fresh and there are lot of variety they make the dishes in. Price wise its not that expensive like other seafood hotels.

Ambience : 3.5/5. The ambience is kind of ok. Nothing great. The first floor needs to be well lit. <br/><br/>Service: 3/5. Service was really really slow. Maybe they were short on staff but everything was taking more than twice the time. <br/><br/>Food: 4/5. The only good thing in the entire experience. Their surmai fry is brilliant. We ordered 3 slices. Nothing beats this. <br/>Prawns in excellensea sauce was a lovely dish as well. It was a semi dry dish with a thick green sauce. Definitely give this a try.<br/>Their chicken starters were strictly average. Won't recommend this. <br/>Chicken sukka dish in main course is worth a try.<br/>Neer dosas were half the size of the actual neer dosas that you get in other places which was a disappointment.<br/>Tried their sol curry as well. Was a refreshing drink.<br/><br/>Worth visiting this place for their seafood :)

One of the best sea food restaurants around. The fish curry taste has not changed over so many years. Very highly recommended for sea food lovers. The prices though have become a tad too high making it expensive for customer like me.

Bharat the iconic restaurant was one of our favourite joint during our college days. Was in the vicinity after a very long hiatus and decided to relieve the nostalgia. The first shock was when the name Bharat was missing from the billboard on ground floor. Was informed the place is under renovation and is being converted in some lounge. We're ushered to first floor which still is called Excelleansea, but the interior of the same joint was also changed to a dimly lit place which actually gives you negative vibes on entering. However, having entered there at closing time i.e 3:30 PM which would have been closing time of other favorites in the vicinity like Apporva and Mahesh decided to order food there it self since I had my young son with me who was hungry. Ordered for the favourite Bombil Fry, Surmai Tava Fry and Steam Rice. Unfortunately none of the fish was noteworthy barring the complimentary gravy served with Rice commonly called as Surva in the local lingo. All in all a complete let down as compared to the happy times spent here gorging on some of the best fish dishes tasted here over years. Koi Lauta dey mere bitey hue din ......... 3

Went on Sunday late night....dimly lit interiors done up in black...head height is a little worry but warm and courteous staff and fresh and spicy seafood makes up for the inconvenience....ordered bombay duck which was fresh and crispy....rawas masala Fry was perfectly done and masala was rightly engulfed with the meat and accompanied with neer dosa with the perfect texture and softness...ordered sol kadi which was a little spicy harsh on the throat but can be corrected though...overall a good gastronomic experience

The old Bharat Excellency was much better. Had surmai curry with rice. Bombil fry and their self claimed speciality starter prawns in green sauce. Honestly did not like the ambience at all. Had seating arrangement on first floor, which was not well illuminated. Can't walk properly as need to bend quite a few times to save head from getting hurt. Must say that the old famous Bharat has lost its taste and charm completely. Quite disappointed. Just average food.

Located in fort, superb restaurant but very few old people know about it. <br/><br/>Interior is done beautifully and point to point keeping eye on their theme which is fish. It’s a small but very cozy place. Fish tank looks superb in the restaurant.<br/><br/>We were wanted to have quick dinner so we went to this restaurant and we were very happy at the end of the meal with our decision.<br/><br/>Bombay duck fry- superb rawa fried crispy bombil. A perfect starter with your favourite beer.<br/><br/>Prawn Gassi- Tiger prawns cooked in perfect mangelorean style curry can go best with neer dosa.<br/><br/>To sum up, can say that certainly a wow place if you are true fish lover. Must visit if you are in nearby area.

Went to excellensea which was at one time one of the best seafood restaurants. Was very disappointed with the food. Ordered the Rawas fish tikka, prawns in xlnc sauce and the prawn gassi with neer dosa. All the items were so average that we did not order the main course. Very sad, as at one time it was my favorites.
Sandeep
A very regular place for a normal meal or some indulgence, the catch is very fresh and cooked very well, apart from the sea food that everyone is already raving about the Gassi, the Ghee roast and the Sukka are above par.

I visited this place for the first time thanks to friend who raved about the quality of sea food and boy was she right!! This is some of the freshest seafood i have had in Mumbai (trust me! I have travelled all over Mumbai searching for good sea food). This place definitely features in my "recommend" list. Loved the surmai, rawas, prawns, pomfret, squids. I missed the tiger prawns and crabs but i will go back soon to taste the same. The staff is very friendly and give good recommendations. Ignore the ambience.

Pathetic Service - We had gone on a Friday afternoon and were surprised that we had nobody to take our order inspite of only 30% of tables being occupied. The older plates also were not cleared and we could hear people waiting for their bill.
Shambhavi Mukadam
Another restaurant which I feel is under rated. I am a big fan of seafood and this restaurant served some finger licking food today. Usually I prefer eating seafood at my few regular restaurants where I know the fish is going to be fresh. Now I can add this one to my list as they serve fresh fish. <br/>Preparation is mind blowing. They have variety of dishes for all type of sea foods. Staff at the restaurant greeted and were very helpful. Ambience is amazing for few drinks and food.<br/><br/>We ordered-- <br/>Prawns in xlac- green colour prawns starter made of mint garlic and coconut oil<br/>Surmai tawa fry- red coloured masala fry<br/>Prawns biryani - big fresh prawns and crispy onion on top added flavour, we loved the biryani! Very few restaurant in Mumbai actually serve this kind of prawns biryani. <br/><br/>Enjoyed food and will surely come back !

This place is very old and reputed to be one is the better seafood places in the Fort area. But found it highly overrated, we ordered the prawns koliwada, surmai tawa fry & rawas Masala fry as standard an order as it gets. All three were highly average. <br/><br/>Interiors are average but on the plus side at least the food is not overpriced... Frankly with a Mahesh lunch home, Trishna and Apoorva in the vicinity there is simply no reason to come here! <br/>
Surupa Mukhopadhyay
Not being an extremely huge fan of sea food, this place definitely beats every Indian seafood outlet in Mumbai, because this is literally freshly made food being served to you, unlike other restaurants where everything with a gashi tastes the same. Guys, you must try their King Prawns in Excellensea sauce, it's mind blowing!
Sunando Mukhopadhyay
Went back to Bharat Excellensea after 13 long years today. The low ceilings and the dimly lit dining hall give you the ambience of a fishing boat. As you enter, there is a boat full of large mud crabs, one of which may end up on your plate. Then you cross over a ground level aquarium to climb a run of stairs to the dining area.<br/><br/>The menu is vast - coastal, North Indian and Chinese cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. You are then presented with samples of pomfret, prawns, Rawas and crab for your selection, and you will definitely have those moments of dilemma for choosing what you desire.<br/><br/>We couldn't resist the Crab Butter Garlic - it is highly recommended. It's light and flavourful. King prawn in Excellensea Sauce (green) is another discovery today - myriad flavours that stir up the appetite. Bombil fry, fish in red sauce, egg fried rice, Surmai Gassi and Neer Dosa round up the main course. The Sole Kadi is a must for an appetising drink.<br/><br/>This is a very old restaurant with a strongly loyal clientele. If you are a seafood fanatic, please don't miss this 5 star outlet.Sonali Mukhopadhyay

This place is really awesome, I don't know why it doesn't have much reviews on Zomato! This place has great ambience and really good staff! <br/>The food was more tasty than I imagined! <br/>Prawns In Excellence Sauce is a must try! <br/>Chicken Malai Kebab was very tender and tasty!<br/>Prawns Gassi was okay-okay! <br/>Mixed Schezwan Fried Rice was very tasty! <br/>Fresh Lime Water was fresh and good!<br/>Order any gravy and along with it a Neer Dosa, people generally eat like this here! <br/><br/>This place is really great and must visit for all sea food lovers!

The ambience of the place is deceptive... It's good but misleading. <br/>If you want to pay money and have lousy food, this is your place. <br/>They claim it is famous for fish, but the claim is fishy... Their specialty is to serve uncooked food. Taste is not only lousy, be assured to be served on plates with broken edges. <br/>Top is all, the place does not have a manager and the owner is also not available if you request. <br/>In case you are treating a visitor or a client to sea food in India, stay away from this place as you are sure to lose your client.
Swapnil Talpade
This was my first visit to this restaurant but I had a good positive vibe. Upon entering they have a fountain showcase, the one where water keeps sliding down from one slide of the glass. It gives you the feel of watching from the inside, heavy rains pouring outside. We got ourselves comfortable on the first floor seating area. The seating area is dimly lit, which is enough since it gives you a candle light feel, without the candles.<br/><br/>They have a pretty good bar menu, but thats about it. They actually serve hardly 3 to 4 brands of liquor. Not much of a choice there. So me and my friends ended up having a couple of beers and then moving on to gin. The liquor rates are pretty decent for a bar that serves on peg system.<br/><br/>The food is the highlight!!! I am a sucker for fish and this is exactly what they offer the best. 90% of their menu is fish based dishes, so you have plenty of choice. But there is only so much your stomach can handle in a seating (sigh). So for starters we ended up ordering Rawas tawa fry. The fish literally melted in my mouth and was yummy! For the main course we ordered Pomfret Gassi and Neer Dosas. Yes, they serve Manglorean. Yes, it is amazing. The thing about a Gassi dish is that not many people might enjoy it if the right mix of spices are not used. This is not the case here, the dish is perfect. The Neer Dosas too are amazing.<br/><br/>All in all a must visit place. I will, there is a lot on that menu that needs exploring!

The kitchen serves up a wonderful garlic butter crab. However that s where the pros end. On the con list... The fresh crab can substantially pinch your wallet, the stuffed bombil was tasteless, the overall ambience is uninspired and the service poor. The live crab and lobster selection at the entrance does not bode well for a good meal

This is a MUST VISIT for good sea food~<br/>I'm surprised the ratings of this restaurant is this low.<br/>It is by far one of the best sea food restaurants I've been to in Mumbai! Never disappoints!<br/>Always served with fresh sea food cooked fantastically.<br/>Be it butter garlic prawns, lobsters, crabs or curries or simple fish fry!<br/>It's is expensive, but worth it!

worst place to have sea food. spoiled prawns and pomfret. really?? i mean after asking the staff they are still defending that they are fresh and when we told them to taste they are saying " we r sorry but we will serve another dish? " i mean why in the wolrd do they keep spoiled fish when they are supposed to treat customers as guests... really bad experience for me... i dont recommend this restaurant to anyone.. instead mahesh lunch home is way more better than this... i went there and i enjoyed the meal and the seafood...<br/><br/>didnt wanted to share this but with my experience: when i went to have food the washroom was also flooded with i dont know what but we couldnt even stay there... we asked the staffs and they say we cant help our boss has taken some actions itseems.. but it has been like that i dont know for like a week i guess...<br/><br/>i totally dont recommend this one unless u r read to eat spoiled fish lol

"Do you have crab" I asked when I phoned to make a reservation. "Yes sir, plenty" they assured me. I'd very fond memories of excellensea in fort, so was looking forward to revisiting on a trip to Bombay. The unfortunate crabs used to be displayed live at the entrance, together with a tempting selection of fish and shellfish, in what was a busy bustling restaurant. I was surprised then to find it mostly empty on a Saturday night. The old upstairs ac section is closed, and you are guided downstairs to a room festooned with slightly tacky fish-motifs. Gone too are the old friendly waiters, instead a sultry crew of staff who attend to you while not busy attending to something more important. Having come for crab, we asked to be shown it, whereupon a puny specimen with tiny claws was produced. "It's the only one sir". Told the price was 2300 / kg (wow, that's gone up, again India becoming more expensive than London), was then told this specimen weighed 1.3kg. I know my crabs, that is Bollocks and I say so. Waiter disappears, returning to tell me it's actually 1kg, I reckon nearer 7-800g. So they just tried to fleece me for 1000. We left. I can forgive mistakes, but not fraud. Went to nearby mahesh lunch home, which used to be in excellensea's shadow, where we enjoyed excellent crab. Should have gone there in the first place. It's full every night, like excellensea used to be. Maybe the old adage of cheats never prospering holds true after all.

Super delighted to be welcomed beyond their lunch closing hours, as we were late for our Birthday celebrations food is lipsmaking good, went by the order takers reccomendation which was phenomenal. This place is surely to be visited again, friendly and cheerful ambience which thus compliments the food

Seafood !! My dad's most fav since he's being visiting this place last 15yrs!<br/>Surmai fry with ghasi and neer dosa is to be absolutely must try !!<br/>Tried their chicken biryani was total let down.<br/>Even the veg meal is average.<br/>So, summing up go here for seafood!<br/>Decent ambaince and good staff.<br/>Bit pricey since seafood are specialty here.

Horrible and annoying. We hosted our American friends and the staff kept interrupting our conversation to make us order expensive prawn dishes instead of what we wanted to really have. A sign of this restaurant has degraded from what it used to be. I will never return to this restaurant again. Overall won't recommend to discerning diners like us. There was no apology offered for their behaviour. This is a place where the staff is out to make money of ignorant customers

We were searching for a restaurant in the area and found this one. Looking descent from outside, so we two couples and one child hop on to this restaurant. This is a very old restaurant which I only got to know once inside and waiters told us about the same. Well, from the look and feel and the lightnings which they have used at the gate, it does not feel an old place but quite new. Decoration was good, use of dim light make this one more beautiful.<br/><br/>Order: I only got to know that they are specialized in sea food once inside the restaurant and then there was no looking back, I had to cope with this restaurant only as we did not want to wander around. What makes it interesting was their way of order taking, they came up with the raw fishes and fish meat to take the order, they do the same with crabs and prawns as well. Which I feel is not a good idea, but may be they are using this method from long. My friend ordered a Surmai from their sea food section, we ordered Paneer do pyaza, Kadhai chicken, butter Nan, Garlic Nan and some other dishes like mutton korma and Malvani chicken which they press us to order saying their specialty. Though, they made it clear that they specialized in sea food only.<br/><br/>Food: Surmai was deep fried and quoted with posta dana, which I saw very first time, but there was no taste, though it was fried really well.<br/><br/>Chicken items are not good and it was a normal dish, tasteless. Mutton too was cooked just for cooking. Garlic nan was good, Butter nan was avearage. Yes in desserts they served us good Gulab Jamuns .....loved it.<br/><br/>Service: Service was good in terms of presentation. But they took quite a long time to serve. Staff was courteous though.<br/><br/>Overall, an average restaurant but price paid for a 4 star deluxe restaurant. Getting a chance again will avoid going there.<br/>I believe they serve some good sea food items, as while we were preparing to leave, there was a family who were quite loud while ordering their dinner talking about some dishes which they like most. And that was the reason for them to visit this restaurant again and again.

Why I Walked Out of One of My Favorite (No more!) Restaurants – Bharat Excelensea (storysoviets.com/2015/11/17/why-i-walked-out-of-one-of-my-favorite-no-more-restaurants-bharat-excelensea/)<br/><br/>Located in Fort, one of Mumbai’s bustling commercial locations is a restaurant serving seafood in Manglorean & Malvani style. Bharat Excelensea (BE) was one of the first seafood restaurants that I was introduced to as a kid. The whole experience as a kid of actually choosing your meal from the live fresh catch (Crabs, Prawns, Squids, Lobsters and a variety of other seawater Fish) of the day, still brings a smile on my face. But last Sunday was different!<br/><br/>We took the beautiful Eastern Freeway to reach BE faster, on a super lazy Sunday afternoon. We reached the place at around 2.00 pm and were welcomed by the very prompt warm valet service. As expected the restaurant was packed for lunch with around 2-3 groups waiting to get their tables. We didn’t mind the 20-30 minutes wait as we were gorging on the fresh catch platter that was displayed at the entrance and of course dishes being served on other tables ;)<br/><br/>While I really liked the new cozier ambiance, I thought the lighting could be a lil bright. According to me, ambiance is something that enhances the eat experience, and this was dull! We finally got our table, but had to wait for the menu for some more time. Don’t ask me if we were served water. Please don’t.<br/><br/>15-20 minutes later when we got the menu, I immediately decided to indulge in BE’s famous ‘Prawn Stuffed Bombil’. After waiting for some time & requesting multiple waiters to take my order, we finally got lucky when the head waiter came to attend us. But he was ‘new’ and didn’t know which fish was available and which wasn’t. For every dish I ordered, he would go to the kitchen to check. When the waiter returned after taking two rounds into the kitchen to first check if they had ‘Prawn Stuffed Bombil’, and then plain ‘Bombil Fry’, I was disappointed and had almost lost my appetite. I had a vegetarian friend with me and hence decided to order the veg dishes first. The waiter started taking our order – ‘Hara Bhara Kebab’, but decided to attend to the people waiting to get their table. Yes, this happened while he was taking our order.<br/><br/>The waiter comes back and asks us to wait – “Sir please wait, actually I’m new and don’t know about the available dishes. So, my Boss will take your order!”. When the Boss (the owner of the restaurant) actually came to take an order, again after a good wait, I thought we’ll get our food soon. Assuming that the waiter had already placed an order for the vegetarian starter – Hara Bhara Kebab, I started ordering the Seafood starter and main-course. I went with the restaurant owner’s recommendations and ordered for a Surmai Fry with Neer Dosa & Gassi. I was excited and hungry.<br/><br/>We waited for 15 mins. 30 mins. 45 mins. With no sign of food. Groups/families in every table started complaining, some because they’d waited for their food to arrive, so late that a family got rotis when they were done eating their meal. Some because they’d got the wrong dish. By now I was super disappointed and furious and asked the waiter to atleast get the veg starter. He was startled and asked me “Are you placing the order now or did you place an order with my Boss earlier?”. This was it and we decided to walk off from the restaurant. I was initially very hesitant, thinking that waiters would come and stop us and that would get embarrassing for us, but no one cared!<br/><br/>On one hand there are new restaurants like Pa Pa Ya (Lower Parel) giving so much importance to customer experience or even not too expensive Thali places like Panchvati Gaurav (By the way, that’s where I ended up eating a superb lunch after walking out of BE) who make you happy & satisfied about indulging in Indian food, and on the other hand there are experiences such as these. While I’ve always believed that Mumbai is on its way to becoming a ‘Good Food Central’, with this kind of experience at one of Mumbai’s oldest restaurants brings me to a critical question – How important is ‘customer service’ in the Indian f&b space? Tell me what you feel in the comments below.

Known to be one of the oldest seafood places in town. We ordered a tandoori pomfret (was big the picture shows half) and it was the freshest fish I've had. The prawns curry and neer dosa was even brilliant! The restaurant is a little more expensive (Rs.1700 for a single pomfret) than other similar places but anything for this taste. The service was quick, the place is dimly lit and neat, the ambience can be made better by playing some music.

The last time I ate at excellensea was almost 15 yrs ago I remember it had a very tasty dish called Konkani Sungat which came with some buttery rice. A dish which kept calling out to me and I had to just drop by to try it once more. The first thing that I noticed with excellensea was the dull interiors, poor lighting and the stale airconditioning smell almost to a level where it was stuffy and not easy to breathe! This was not a good sign surely! <br/>A man dressed in casuals came up front to take our order! I expressed my desire to eat my old favorite! He suggested we have prawns in a kircha or something that sounds like that kind of sauce! He also said that the special rice was available only in the morning! So we ordered the prawns and the surmai fry along with a pomfret fry.<br/><br/>The prawns came first 5 regular sized prawns in a greenish sauce which were quite tasty. The surmai was heavily deep fried and had absolutely no seasoning. The pomfret was sad really sad a huge pomfret which I later learnt we had paid 1700 rupees for was deep fried with some kind of KFC like conrnflakes coating heavily laden with oil and zero seasoning! What a waste! By then the disappointment and regret of stepping into this place was sinking in and we ordered a prawn gassi and neer dosa to wrap things up! Both the gassi and the neer dosa which was thick as hell failed to hit the mark!<br/><br/>The bill took a lot of yelling to get to our table atleast 15 minutes after a lot of calculation mistakes and yelling! I was shocked to see the prices that we were being charged 600 rupees for the prawns under the guise of calling them jumbo wow! Even more than golden dragon! The pomfret was 1700 rupees and butchered!<br/><br/>Anyways enough said! Excellensea is off my list for good I am convinced that nothing of the old place remains there! Move on people!

The service quality is very pathetic!!! You will have no patience to wait for your order!! The waiters didn't even offer a glass of water even after sitting for 30 mins! <br/><br/><br/>

Was there for lunch this afternoon with friends. <br/> Although there were hardly anyone , the the staff was pushing sale of water. Found that bit irritating. The starter were surmai masala fry and prawn in ghee roast. Both were good ! The main course , promfret ghassi and neer dosa was not up to expectations. A big dissapointment after a good start. The onwer tried to retrieve the situation but the damage was done. The neer dosa was way below par. Not our day ! Will not visit for sometime . Avoidable.better choices in the vicinity. Mahesh, Apurva, Fountain plaza.<br/>

Good place, peaceful. Good service, very good and fresh food, specially the prawn green masala and the bombay duck. Been there several times and always been satisfied.

Specialising in sea food for decades now, its renovated well. Service is extremely attentive. The prices as its seafood are high & being The Excellensea u have to expect it. A meal with crab meat soup, squid fry & surmai kurkure with surmai gassi & neer dosa for 2 cost 2300. The gassi & neer dosa was one of the best in bombay. The surmari kurkure was something different & good but it can be better. The squid fry was really not upto the mark. Crab meat soup was good with a base as good as sweet corn, but much better than a crab meat soup at other places as there was no seafood flavor added. Both the starters can be squeezed off for extra oil before serving. Overall a good visit but certainly not something you can have everyday.

This place serves all kind of sea food , if you wanna eat crabs you get to choose among different types of crabs which are alive point out which crab you ant and they will coock that for you. Affordable place . Ambience is good . You should try the "paaplet fry" its effin tasty . Lobsters are only available between 1-4pm after that lobsters wont be available so make your gamble wisely.

The Haryali Grilled crab is excellent, the masala pomfret is good. The ravas was bad and the neer dosa was okay. The restaurant was smelling like a fish market and the Jal Jeera drink was terrible. Might never come back again.

This place serves coastal cuisine, specialising in sea food. The quality of food is great. The ambience needs a lot of improvement. Staff needs to coordinate better with each other for an improved customer experience.

visited this place with family, the food was good and the portion sizes were also good.<br/><br/>my family loved the fish preparation and the ghee fried prawns were fantastic.<br/><br/>what lacked was the service and ambience. while the place is dimly lit there was no soft music or sorts. there was another customer hurling abuses at the staff and they didnt do a thing to escort the drunkard out. there were other families present as well and they should have been more considerate.<br/><br/>the staff is very uncoordianted and take a long time to understand whats being requested. they got us glasses didnt check if they were clean and once the beer was poured in two insects came afloat. whisky ordered came 10 minutes after the beer that too after repeated reminders.<br/><br/>the dal didnt arrive until we were halfway through our meal the rotis we were waiting for up to 10 minutes despite having placed an order for rotis at the start...very unpleasant experience. <br/><br/>whats astonishing is that when there were not more than 15% of the restaurant full the service was like this - wonder what it would be at full capacity( a dream if they continue like this)

I have been visiting this place since last 10 years...it was one of my favourite. Today agin I visited hoping for the same good experience but to my surprise it was horrible. Service is better on a local tea stall. Prawns biryani which was outstanding here, was horrible today with just 5 prawns in the biryani compared to 10-15 earlier. The biryani rice was half cooked. <br/>Will never visit this place again.

This place serves some truly amazing seafood! I've been going here since the time the bar was downstairs. Thank goodness they refurbished the place and took the bar up, so now the downstairs area is a family restaurant. The place is redone and it's not the well made by the food is truly mouthwatering. We usually for for the seafood biryani - yummiest of all! The fry fish is also yum- pomfret, surmai or even the Bombay duck! Sol kadi is brilliant. They even serve appam with your curries incase you like them. The crab curry too is beyond anything you've tasted! Here is the place where you can pick your catch and they will make it for you. A definitely all time place!

Were here for new years, nice n calm place. Had a crab curry with neer dosa which was suggested by them and that was a wonderful. In short enjoyed the time in there.

Food quality is still good but this place has been too overpriced and the quantity has reduced to ridiculously low amounts since renovation. It seems that everyone else has realized that same since a once crowded place is now nearly empty. Th The Excellensea needs to work on bringing back its old charm and value for money.
Jayesh Jagasia
Thoughtless service, terrible food and disappointing portions are characteristic of this oddly-named seafood restaurant (numerology and puns all rolled into one). All the food we ordered was delivered with a healthy dose of spices but no taste whatsoever. The Sol kadhi was by far the worst I have ever had. What left the most bitter taste in the mouth, however, was none of these but the fact that you feel cheated at the end of it all - our chicken tikka masala was brought to us with a bucketful of odd-tasting gravy and five really tiny pieces of chicken floating in there like lost children at a mela. Most disappointing. <br/><br/>There may be things that *the* Excellenssea excels at, but sea food is surely not one of them.<br/><br/>Give this one a miss.

Manglorean food is my absolute favorite kind of food. So its outrageous that i hadn't visited this age old restaurant that is apparently a legend in the Fort seafood scene. Wanna start off by saying that my rating is 3.75, which i rounded off. An average rating by no means. The food here packs a punch but out of all the "Legendary" restaurants i tried, Excellensea was the least memorable. Definitely worth a try though but not a place I'd visit while Mahesh, Apoorva, Trishna and even the seafood king of Vile Parle, Harish Lunch Home still exist.<br/>My folks have been visiting this place for eons but i was told that the restaurant has recently been refurbished. The first thought that enters your head when you enter the place is HOW BADLY BHARAT EXCELLENSEA WANTS YOU TO TRY THEIR SEAFOOD. The name is a pun on the sea, the interiors of the restaurant are filled with fish wallpapers and you have the sea-themed decorations as well. You have to be a little retarded to visit Excellensea and not have seafood.<br/><br/>Coming to what we ordered (Keep in mind I've visited every Manglorean restaurant in the city and i believe i know my Bambaiya Manglorean well) -<br/>My date wanted to order the drunken fish, the prawns in fancy chinese sauces, etc etc. But Bharat Excellensea is a Shetty joint through and through. How can you visit a place famed for its spicy Manglorean curries and order a fish in whiskey sauce? I won the argument and we went forward with my choices. Which in retrospect was a good decision. The food was great but not mind blasting, unfortunately. Not mindblasting, the way it is in Apoorva or Mahesh. If a restaurant can't blow you away with its signature, old-school food, how can it blow you away with its more modern cuisine? Thats how i look at it but i might be wrong. If you're feeling up for it, order the fish in whiskey sauce and all the other jazzy food items on the menu, and let me know if i was wrong.<br/>Specifics of our order:-<br/>1)Butter Garlic crab meat: Best dish of the meal. If you've read my other Manglorean restaurant reviews you'll notice how every restaurant has that ONE dish thats a cut above its counterparts in other restaurants. One place makes its gassi better, the other makes its pulimunchi better. This was the best butter garlic crab/squid/prawn I've sampled. Not overly spicy, just the right amount of grease and perfect seasoning. Not to mention the fabulously fresh meat that's a staple of most Fort restaurants.<br/><br/>But from here the meal went (EXTREMELY MARGINALLY) downhill.<br/><br/>2)Gassi: A bit too runny for my liking but good taste. Not out of the world.<br/><br/>3)Pulimunchi: Had read on an article on the internet about how Excellensea's signature dish is their pulimunchi. I assure you, it isnt. Thats all I'm gonna say.<br/><br/>4)Sukka : Great taste. Not memorable though. Have had better sukkas with a better amount of meat.<br/><br/>5)Squid ghee roast: Have had ghee roasts miles ahead of this one. To make the experience more tepid, the squid was very tough :(<br/><br/>6)Neer Dosas: Best neer dosas I've had in an y Manglorean joint. A crucial litmus test when it comes to these kind of places. The neer dosas were like delicate virgins bathed in rice flour. Mind blasted. Credit. Where. Its. Due.<br/><br/>Overall, I'm obviously not disappointed. Some stellar punches in this split decision performance.<br/>Will possibly visit again to sample their drunken fish and co. Till then Bharat Excellensea is a solid 3.75, but a weak 4.0.

Been here quite a few times and was slightly disappointed especially when I had invited a foreign friend who is originally from Mangalore for lunch and found the bombay duck and prawns a bit stale. Otherwise have had great seafood out here mostly but the prices are a bit too high for the seafood.

One of the best places for sea food. Great service and good food. The tandoori pomfret is a killer! Ambience is ok. Easy to reach. Did not get valet service though.
Melissa Dsouza
First of all I liked their plate it was a seashell. It's a heaven for fish lovers...authentic mangalorian food available felt like home specially the fish curry and chutney..and they have a few fish on display u can choose among them and the size too...must visit
Oneal Sabu
Arguably the best when it comes to choosing seafood diners in South Bombay at least. Have always enjoyed the pomfrets out here, simply amazing !! there's a lot to choose from depending on your budget and the place welcomes you through a wide array of fresh catch from the sea !!
Amey Shelke
A place for amazing sea food @ Fort! Nice ambience & good service, One must try their Fish Gassi, it tastes great!!! A bit expensive but taste is worth the money
George Antony
Its the best seafood place in Bombay. Best. Better than pricey gazalee lost trishna ok mahesh. Prawn gassi and tandoori rawas or crabs or anything is fresh and super tasty. Go there for sure at lunch eat a lot. Don't want to write anything more. Go

For a long time this place has been serving amazing fresh, yes really fresh sea food ,be it lobsters ,crabs its just the best and they got it.The clams sukka, prawns in green sauce(u can ask the chef),crab and surmai fry is just amazing.Pure Heaven on earth for a food lover. Solkadi  just adds up more to it. But Lately they have increased the cost of all their best dishes by 50 to 150rs.But still its value for money and u will feel it in  each bit of prawns or crab u take it .A must visit place for sea food lover .Enjoy eating :)
Tejas Nakhwa
Serves some best lip smacking FRESH seafood this place is great for those who want to have the food accompanied by some high spirits.<br/>Family seating is provided on the first floor.<br/>Ambience is quite inviting and lively. This plates promotes seafood and us quite awesome at serving it too.<br/>What I eat : pomfret/Bangda/Surmai Pulimunchi (your favourite fish cooked in pulimunchi spice). Stuffed Bombay Duck is the best by far. Also try the tandoori pomfret and surmai preparations. This place does serve crap and lobsters. They do give you the option to select your crab/lobster and prepare as per you desire. Service is a bit slow but fast at night.<br/>Great place for a huge family outing. <br/>If you have any queries do comment below. <br/>Hope this was helpful :)

This place is absolutely a seafood lover's heaven... You get to choose amongst the crabs while they are still alive like most good seafood places, shelled out deshelled, butter garlic or ghussi, fresh crabs taste heavenly.. They serve fresh and flaky fish and prepare it to perfection.. It's a must visit if you like your seafood fresh and reasonably priced..

You are not a seafood lover if u haven't visited this place. Be it tikka or fry or chinese, it tastes always the best! All time favourites: Rawas tikka and surmai fry.
Ramsha Khan
Best seafood i ever had. But just one advice, visit mostly  when fish is in season. Rawas Fisk tikka is to die for. Just melts in your mouth.

Lots of meals have been had at the Excellensea...as one of the previous reviewers mentioned, it is part of Fort Foodie Folklore...even before the Foodie concept took off here in Mumbai.<br/><br/>The reason we switched to Trishna (almost exclusively) was that Excellensea just didn't stock enough crabs, and it's always disappointing to come in for a good seafood meal and not get any crab. A recent evening found us back at the restaurant, which sported a new look. I think I preferred the old avatar actually, especially having to bend down to get from one section to the next...unless you wanted to crack your head.<br/><br/>Any how, this time we had the Prawns in Krechai Sauce...a thick coconuty herby green sauce that stuck to the decent sized prawns. It would go well with Neer Dosas, methinks. <br/><br/>Also for starters, an order of the obligatory Pomfret Fry. Really fresh and good tasting, but a bit over fried maybe. Some pieces were really crisp.<br/><br/>The main was the famous Butter Garlic Coriander Crab...very different from the buttery buttery Trishna one. But again, seemed like the crab had been boiled to long, so the meat was a bit mushy some parts.<br/><br/>And all the staff are different, what's up with that? I really liked the old guys.<br/><br/>Overall, it was a decent meal, but taking into account the cost (5k+) and it really makes you wonder, if it's worth it. I think it's not. Personally I would rather head to Trishna.

When you see the menu you will feel as if you've come to a really below average place, because it's in tatters. However, this place has pretty good food...and the servers are friendly, but that may be cause we were the only customers there for quite some time. All in all a pretty average place.
Sanjay Roye
The Excellenssea is part of the Fort foodie folklore, located near the RBI building ...............................a two floor structure, the upper one is more desirable relatively speaking, more so because the ground floor doubles up as a drinking joint mostly by men................... the ambience is just about ordinary.......................their reputation of fine seafood dining has started taking a hit in recent years and I can see why that is happening.......................the staff is good, and by that i mean that they know whats on the menu, how it is made and how it would go down with you...............service is well above average.......................as for the food, well, they had built their business on the back of some highly exceptional Konkani/Malvani cuisine and that is where they excel...............try their pomfret fry and prawn koliwada for starters, the main course could include rawas tikka, prawns gassi, chicken chettinad, goan fish curry and appams........................our crabs were not well done and did have a pungent odour besides tasting stale................................otherwise it was lovely....................the price reasonable....................best for wet sunday lunches!
Raj
the food is OK and is not value for money where else the staff is less attentive..

I have been coming to this place for the past 9years.. As the name suggests, this place excels in Seafood, be it indian or their so called Chinese (I'd call it chindian) <br/><br/>Don't expect the Chinese to taste authentic because it's not. However it's s nice fusion of Indian n Chinese flavours. If you opt for Chinese have it with steamed rice n you'll like it rather than a chinese fried rice.<br/><br/>Try the following<br/>Squid in choice of sauce (I like Schezwan)<br/>Beer fried Squids<br/>Prawns in Black Bean<br/><br/>The Indian items are perfect with Neer dosa or steamed rice, as you like it<br/><br/>Prawns/Squid Pulimunchi<br/>Prawns Hariyali (Yummy)<br/>Prawns Koliwada<br/>Rawas Tikka <br/>Crab Butter Garlic<br/>These are the all time favourites<br/><br/>Other items are good but other places like Apoorva n Mahesh in the vicinity have better Gassi n Tandoori options.<br/><br/>When visiting always head upstairs as downstairs serves as a bar in the evenings. Ambience is nothing great but that doesn't matter here. It's all about good seafood.<br/><br/>
Premjeet Sohal
Seafood heaven .. Ambience is very good .. Seafood lovers must hit this place awesome!!
Ankit Mistry
Been here with friends. Ordered squid and prawns with butter chicken and naan. Good food, good ambience but average service. Seafood tastes good and rest are also not bad. Good for seafood.
Nikhil
This place is like heaven for seafood lovers. You get everything from the famed fried bombil of Mumbai to calamari and lobsters. The bombil fry was absolutely delicious and the lobsters were like a dream come true.
Rajinder Singh
They serve very good crab curry. They also serve decent chicken dishes. Also the ambiance is okay but staff has a bit stiff attitude. Prices are reasonable as per the food quality & location. They should work on some good dessert options. Sea food with beer on a lazy afternoon. Overall nice experience...
Deepashri Somani
Went here for a late night dinner with friends! Fish tikka n prawns gassi were delicious. And the sea food is fresh. Chicken tandoori was a bit undercooked. To digest all kokam kadi is a must. After Mahesh and Jai Hind lunch homes, I don't mind being here again for sea food.
Chef Farsid Kotwal
Nice seafood .... The sea food is just to die for.....
Salim Khan
Try to have sea food in this restaurant it's amazing the staff is also good the plus point is no rush <br/>Rawas tikka one of the best dish
Francislfdes
The food is ridiculously EXPENSIVE..... Just for one Surmai Gassi 600 bucks. Id rather have a fine dunner elswhere then waste half a grand just for one item.
Ravishankar Sarkar
On a high we thought of trying out a different Konkani/Malvani food joint. The restaurant is kind of slightly more airy I thought compared to the cramped Trisha or for that matter Mahesh. Alcohol is available and my review had nothing to to do with it.<br/>So this is what we consumed:<br/><br/>Appam -- Average - 3 on 5 And if you notice the price of the same Appam mentioned twice in the menu has diff prices!!<br/>Prawn Gassi - Fair. We had to fish for the prawns. The Gravy was absolutely average - 2 on 5<br/>Rawas Tikka - Good - 3.5 on 5<br/>Pomphret Fry - Quite Good 4 on 5<br/>Squid Fry - Absolutely different and a very unique stir fry preparation - 4 on 5<br/>Butter Garlic Deshelled Crab - 2.5 on 5 MHL or Gajalee or Trishna is anyday better.<br/><br/>Ambiance - Decent<br/>Service - Waiters are amateurs. So better not ask for advice. Decide yourself.<br/><br/>Overall my ranking would be a 2.5 on 5.<br/>Would I repeat - No<br/>Should you visit - umm maybe...Try at your own risk and if you like it good for you!!!<br/><br/>My food recipe blogs:<br/>Website : http://foodbyrcr.blogspot.in/<br/>Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RavisFoodventure

the best sea.food I have ever.had! wonderfully fresh food! excellent quality fish and prawns and cooked with.love! <br/>highly recommend for Sea food lovers!

Superb Quality Sea-Food at an affordable price is the summary of my experience here. <br/><br/>Forget the ambience; it is not too bad either, focus on the taste. Since it is Bar you will find some customers having a drink on the ground level, head up to the upper level.<br/><br/>You pick the variety of Sea-Food and they will dish out an excellent final product for you. We tried the Prawns Koliwada, Surmai Masala, Rawas Fry and Crab in Butter Garlic. <br/>If you are in the mood to experiment and are game for some tangy & spicy gravy preparation, try the Pullimunchi [Tamarind sauce] style of fish with Neer Dosa or Rice. Their variety is Chicken also looked nice [It was ordered by the customer on the next table].<br/><br/>Vegetarian options are nice but the Sea-Food was the show stopper. <br/><br/>Must Visit.
Chetna Sanwal
I am a sea food lover and this place keeps up with it's name. It's a kind of place where you get more for less ;-)<br/>Came here again after 7 yrs and i must say they surely have maintained the quality!!<br/><br/>We ordered for bombay duck fry (must try), 2 dishes of prawn (starter & prawn ghee roast) and neer dosa. All yummy!! Only reco out here is- ask them to not add nuts in prawn ghee roast. The king of the dish is the prawn and that gets lost somewer when they use the nuts.<br/><br/>The place kindda looks under renovation and the waiters are a bunch of weirdo's. All above n 2 beers will approx cost you 1600 bucks.
Kool Punjaabi
exquisite seafood restaurant, prawns sukka is a must have dish, Chilled beer in Silver Mugs, ekdum superb

This place rocks in terms of sea-food, Period!<br/><br/>You wont find the best of ambiance here. The lower section mostly serves as a bar with only groups of men boozing. The upper section is more of a family section. On your way up you'll see fish-tanks with fishes on display....crabs and lobsters too. Mind your head up there, the ceiling is a little low. My friend had a narrow escape.<br/><br/>Service is good and quick. They do a good job with recommendations too. <br/><br/>Sea-food is the specialty here, so stick to it. We just kept ordering fish starters for 9 of us.<br/>Our order:<br/>Prawns Koliwada - Spicy and tasty<br/>Pomfret Fry and Surmai Masala Fry - BEST!!<br/>Bombil (Bombay Duck) - Good as per my friends (I'm not too fond of it)<br/>Fish Tikka (Rawas) - slurp*slurp<br/>Chicken Reshmi Kebab - masala was good, chicken was a little hard, could have been cooked for some more time<br/>Chicken Lollypop - bland, but pieces were huge<br/>Chicken 65 - Good<br/><br/>After gorging on bits of each of the above dishes, I'd safely say, Sea-food - THUMBS UP. You could stay away from the Chinese since its nothing exceptional.<br/>Not exactly light on the pocket, but not extravagant as well. Dinner for 9 cost us 2700 bucks (including taxes and service charge). ie about 300 bucks per person....Its a steal for sure ;)
