I was in Mahim and craved the iconic Mahim Halwa, also known as Ice halwa; when the first result that Google showed was this adorable little shop. Fresh delicacies at a completely reasonable price! “Joshi Budhakaka” (literaly means Old Uncle) creator of the legendary “Mahim Halva” a sweetmeat shop in bylanes of Kapad Bazar area of Mahim Mumbai still mantains and operate from where Ghanshyambhai’s (in second photo) Great Great Great.. Grandfather started 240 years ago!
For those like me who schooled and played here, can vouch for atleast the past 50 years of mouthwatering-melting fine layers of sweet magic made as per their age old receipe, which many try to mimic but just cant match!

A legend of a place which is innovator of Mahim Halwa. Though they have some other sweet deserts, this is what everyone goes for. It's a rustic place located in the middle of Mahim market. I have tried a few other sweets from this place and it's all been good, but their Mahim Halwa is unique and everyone's favourite.

It is one of the oldest shops in Mumbai city and is very famous for the Mahim Halwa sweets that are known by the name of the locality where it all started - Mahim. There are two shops opposite each other in a small lane off the main Cadell Road and one newer branch at Dadar TT as well. The sweets are freshly made everyday and some items are made only on pre order like the Nutmeg (Jaifal) Mahim Halwa.

4 🌟 for the Mahim halwas including extra 1 🌟for the more than 200 years history of this Mahim halwa. The Indian namkeens are good as well. Try different varieties of kalakands too. The sweets are more towards very sweet as compared to other shops may be due to excess quantity of sugar. More of a heritage store than a main stream sweet shop.

Joshi family runs this buisness. There are two more outlets in Mumbai , one at Dadar circle & other at Tardeo. If you happen to be in the vicinity of this shop, do not forget to take the pure traditional sweet at home from Joshi Bhudhakaka.

The Joshi Budhakaka Mahim Halwawala is more than 200 years old. It is known for its world famous Mahim Halwa, while also producing other varieties like Anjeer Halwa and Maharaja Halwa which includes a thin flaky layer of the sweet mixed with dry fruits separated by greaseproof paper. Their milk cake is also another top seller along with the farsans like ganthia.
Located in a narrow lane in the Kapad bazaar area of Mahim, it is not easy to find but ask any local and he will easily direct you to the legendary place.

This shop is 200 years old and has been still making people happy by serving aweosme, unique and delicious sweets. They are the pioneer of Mumbai's famous Halwa.. But my favourites are varieties of Barfi that Ghanshyam Kaka makes, especially Butterscotch Burfi!!!! Just love it.. ..
Just go there and you will come to know what a true hospitality is!! You ask anyhing just for taste and they will give you such huge quantities for taste that you yourself will want to pay for it!!!

Very original shop and original halwa! This shop is 230 years old! The current shop owners are 7th generation halwawalas!
Really like the flavor and taste of the original halwa here. It's unlike the ones you find elsewhere. Above all the shop owners are very courteous and friendly.
This is a must visit. Please note that this one is on the other side of the Jain Temple (away from the main road).
