Review Americano - Mumbai

Simply put I have not had better pizza yet. Their drinks are very flavorful and not just an overdose of sugar syrup. The ambience is very elegant with hues of blue and golden. Would advise booking your slot in advance because it’s difficult to get tables at a very short notice.

Had an amazing experience. All the food was seasoned properly sonit added to the overall taste. Pizza and meatballs were amazing, ordered doubles. Their pastas were all cooked well and not over. This one is up there on where I would recommend.

Very good indeed. Love letters starter was v good. Corn ribs, rocket leaves and ricotta cheese starter was v good. The virgin drink apple basil sour was just too good. Truffle mushroom pizza was v good. Service excellent. Tough to get booking. Book ahead. Will go again.

A lovely fine dining experience for an a-la-carte experience. We went here for lunch on a Saturday and had to book a day in advance. It seemed like the place would be livelier for dinner. There is no wheelchair accessible entrance & the washroom is very tiny. For the kind of asking price, one would expect these basic needs of accessibility. Service: Great staff. All smiles, very attentive & polite. The service is also very quick for most items on the menu. Interiors: Classy, cozy and comfortable. It's comfortably lit if not a little too dark for lunchtime. Drinks: One of the best in town to have cocktails. Amazing drinks, and a lot of choice. The menu mentions taste profiles so it's simpler to choose. Don't miss these - ask for recommendations. Food: There were just 2 of us so we couldn't try many items from the menu. The preparations were great, plated well. We tried their signature sweetcorn ribs - it's a very difficult preparation but the taste was nothing out of the ordinary. The pasta portions seemed a little too small, especially for the gnocchi. Their sausage is amazing. I liked the focaccia garlic bread - but my friend did mention it could've been slightly more luscious. We'd like to try more of the menu next time as we loved the food.

Americano was a brilliant upscale resto bar with great food, drinks and a lovely atmosphere, all while being located in a prime location in Mumbai. We had the avocado starters along with a truffle pizza and a chicken pizza whose name is slipping my mind. The starter was surprisingly nice, it felt like an explosion of flavour in my mouth, and the pizzas were first class. The drinks we had had a great balance of taste that wasn’t heavy on one’s palette. Service was prompt, the staff were very friendly, the overall interior design and ambience was great and really helped set the mood. My recommendation to anyone going here is to make a reservation in advance, as it gets quite busy after 930/10pm.

This is by far the best Italian restaurant in Bombay! Their starters, cocktails & pizzas are outstanding. Here are my recommendations Starters/Small Bites - Charred Grilled Brocolli - Balsamic Brussels Sprouts - Garlic Bread - Corn Ribs Pizzas - Marinara (I know it’s without cheese but trust me it’s amazing) - Margherita Pasta - Mushroom Ragout - Cacio E Pepe Dessert - Tiramisu - Chocolate Sorbet

Impeccable food, service and atmosphere. Simple menu done right. Do not miss the pizza’s, the cocktails and never skip the tiramisu. The Tiramisu of Americano is one of the best in India . The vibe is upbeat - perfect for friends and couples to sit by the bar. Staff is friendly and efficient too.

Took reserving a week in advance to get a able, but it was absolutely worth it! We tried the Corn Ribs, Cacio E Pepe, Meatball Al Forno, the Americano Pizza and the the Peach Skillet Cake. The pizza, meatballs and skillet cake were to die for! Their Yukari Negroni was a great twist on a classic, and I’d definitely order it again

Excellent food - salads are out of this world and their cocktail menu is a winner. Recommend malabar cooler, bee sting, gateway tonic for drinks. It gets busy and service could take time but the wait is worth it. The tiramisu is one of the best I've had (worldwide) and not to be missed.

Great food. One of my Favourite place in the entire city

Absolutely amazing experience. The food is simply sumptuous. In every bite I took I could feel the richness and the effort of the chef. They truly have a dedicated team doling out perfect dishes. Would definitely come back here. The restaurant is a little pricey, but absolutely worth every penny (You can considerably reduce your spend if you avoid the cocktails).

Thanksgiving dinner was really really delicious. The cocktails are NOT ordinary. Highly recommended for food and drink.

Pizza are very nice in taste and pasta are so soft and moist.... service are good
The Sunday Suppers
We ordered the sweet corn ribs. They were very nicely flavoured and accompanied by coriander and mint butter.
We also had the sourdough truffle and portobello mushroom pizza-- it was heaven. So good. One of the best pizzas we had and it tasted so good and the flavor of the umami was great.
The spinach cappelletti with ricotta and tossed in sage butter was also very good and lastly the dessert not our best. But it was good loved the textures and the raspberry gelato.

We ordered home in Bandra via a delivery service. The food was well packed with different elements of a dish packed separatly but together in one paper bag. I ordered the Duck Confit, the Salmon and the Tiramisu. The Tiramisu is to die for. the flavour of the duck and salmon were so complimenting with the respective sauce and salads. Cant wait to try other things on the menu

Newly opened Americano became talk of the town. Shortly after opening we visited - Inspite of reservations we had to wait for a while. A luxurious fine-dine experience with good/sophisticated crowd. Morden with minimalistic decor the place has great vibes making it the next go to place for the weekend. Talking about the cuisines, Americano offered American, Continental and classic Italian dishes however for the price the portions are quite small.

We ordered the following dishes :-
1) Focassia bread
2) love letters
3) Tortellini
4) Margarita Pizza
5) sweet corn ribs
6)Torta Tenerina
I really appreciate this waiter named Pulak who made us comfortable throughout from welcoming us to giving some amazing recommendations which we loved and even have a desert from his side which was amazing too.

Go for the tiramisu!

So we got a fly in our water. I don't know if it was already there in the glass or the water jug but either way that isn't acceptable, specially in a high end restaurant which is totally indoors. Raises questions on the hygiene here specially when the staff didn't even apologize for it as it seems its normal for them.
The food was good and so were the drinks but the staff isn't nice.
They are borderline rude to the point where I asked, if I can taste a tea spoon of a 'sauce' or 'dip' that they serve to have with my pizza crust and they said no.
So I specifically asked our server if it's a sauce or anything else and then only ordered a portion as he specifically said it was a 'sauce' they make but i could clearly tell that actually it was a prepackaged Mayonnaise, so I sent it back.
Would be great if they could a deep clean to get rid of the flies and do some staff training as the food is good.
Slightly overpriced as well.

Amazing Amazing food! If you can ignore the service, you’ll have a baller of a time just eating. Drinks are good too.

Got a reservation here after trying for months.
Booked a week in advance for a Saturday Night.
Man this place was crowded but The vibe of the place is great !

Limited options for Vegetarians, but whatever option available are great.

We tried :
Burrata 4/5
Margherita (the traditional Italian woodfire Pizzas) 5/5 (realllly goood)
Pici Aglio e Olio 4/5
Tiramisu 5/5 ( Definitely the best Tiramisu in town)
Chocolate Sorbet

Definitely going back to try everything else on the menu.

The only disappointment was the smell of nonveg sometimes due to the open kitchen.

All in all an amazing experience

Went here for dinner last night and really enjoyed the food! It was refreshingly authentic and delicious, however the service could have been better. It was completely packed and although I had a reservation for 10pm I got my table by 10:30. Even after getting the table we had to keep asking for our drinks 2-3 times before we got them.

I enjoyed the appetisers more than the mains. My favourites were the love letter which is a potato and avocado dish, the truff puffs which are fried truffle balls, and the sweetcorn ribs. All these dishes were super unique and a definite must try! The Brussels sprouts salad was also super fresh and delicious. And I don’t even like Brussels sprouts so it was definitely great. The other starters we got were the gnochho and mushroom crostini. Both of these were also good but not as good as the other appetisers. For mains we got the garganelli mushroom ragu pasta and the rosso and margarita pizzas. The pasta was handmade and fresh and had great flavour and even though one pizza had no cheese it was still really good. This place is a little on the expensive side however it is worth it for the food and vibe. If only the service would be little better it would be great.

Service - 5/5
Ambience - 5/5
Taste - 5/5
Value for money - 4/5
Parking - 5/5
Cleanliness - 5/5
Overall - 5/5
Recommended - Veg shaved Brussels sprouts salad
We had come for snack date and this spot was the perfect place! You can grab a drink or coffee with amazing accompaniments .
The salad with shaved Brussel sprouts was a twist to the vegetable that I had not imagined- truly delish . Coffee came with tiny delectable cake too!
A bit pricy but with it!

Absolute rip off. Totally unsatisfactory and horrible experience. This place is a scam and nothing else. The quantity is fit for babies

Excellent! Alex has really outdone himself.

Worst place especially the security staff outside the restaurant. Not recommended one bit.

RUDENESS:-Firstly the call attendent who takes reservations was very rude.with lot of request got table for 4pax. Secondly it was a weekend(sat) and even at 9pm to 10pm the restaurent was empty.there were many tables available.then why does call attendent acts pricy? Does she owns that place? OVERPRICED.:- very small portions.its not even for 2 people.that small a portion.and the prices are too high.cocktail prices are also very high. OTHER NEGATIVES:- menu is too small, its based on mainly red meat.in that also majority is beef and pork.in india this pattern wont work.only 1 or 2 chicken dishes and same with fish and prawns.( would like to remind the owners-this is not AMERICA.this is INDIA).so focus mainly on sea food.not on beef and pork.ambiance is also very simple.nothing fancy for the price.

THE IMAGE UPLOADED SHOWS HOW SMALL A PORTION THEY SERVE.

I genuinely didn't like the food:(

Americano,
I had been here for the first time with my friends. One of my friend suggested me this place. It’s a fine dining restaurant serves European, Italian and continental food. The Margherita pizza, Tiramisu and duck confit were just incredible. The ambience is nice and the cocktails are amazing. Dessert were delicious too. Staff was friendly and welcoming. A good sense of professionalism.
Aroundtheworldin90frames
We had roast chicken which was quite dry, the Brussels sprouts were good, the pizza was nice too but I could do without ordering the pizza. The mushroom pasta was really good as it’s homemade pasta and it was very thin hence we loved it. The potato love letters is a tiny portion just 5 small bite size pieces stuffed with some cream and avocado which can be tried, the duck confit was good too, had buratta which was really good and a must try. The limonata menta (mocktail) can surely be avoided, it was too sour and didn’t seem like fresh lemons were used. The tiramisu is a must must have To summarise the portion sizes are really very small and priced accordingly, however you need to order quite a bit to fill your tummy. The place is good, great vibe and ambience, food is must try here.

If there was a rating above 5*, then that's what I would have given Americano. Besides the very well done up space, the fabulous and knowledgeable service of Indra, what I appreciate is the Small Plates sharing concept (I love that about Slink and Bardot, too). There are no large plates here, like ones we are used to in most of the restaurants. So instead of being stuck with one plate of food, the diner is able to taste so many different kinds of dishes. And at a place like Americano where each dish vies with the other for 'best dish' status, this is the best concept to follow. Yes, you might find the helpings small, but please remember they are called 'small' plates, and yes, it might be a little stiff for some pockets, but when you put together the experience of the service where each dish was explained to us in such detail, plus the deliciousness of each dish, then I would certainly say its value for money. Whether you are vegetarian or non-vegetarian do not miss out on the Corn Ribs with Scallion Aioli. They are finger lickin good! The Cauliflower Truffle Risotto was yumm, and Pizza with Lamb Sausage was to die for! You must order a dip with the pizza because the crust is SO good that I assure you, you shall enjoy dipping that into the dip (we asked for chilli garlic dip). I've never eaten pizza crust that's this good, never in all my travels. The Spinach and Ricotta Tortellini, Oven Roasted Prawns (these were a bit under-seasoned), Calamari cooked Thai Style (spicy!!! but truly got the Thai flavour), Slow Cooked Veal ( yummmm), Spiced Chicken Wings, Carbonara Croquettes, Roast Tenderloin with pancetta, were all superlative as well. The hot sauce served with the wings was so so good that I would have instantly bought a huge bottle of the stuff had they been selling it. We were stuffed to the gills, but Indra was not about to let us go without ordering the desserts. Isn't it wonderful when the staff is so obviously proud of where they work? The dark chocolate cake with foamy cream, and the Raspberry delight were superb. Indra swears by the Tiramisu so I guess we shall just have to return soon to see if the proof is in the pudding...pun absolutely intended!

I was extremely disappointed with the place, we were seated at a table for about ten mins, after we had ordered our drinks, we were ‘politely requested’ to get up, and wait for another table after 15-20 mins! This may have been a result of poor systems and double booked the table. In all my years of eating out, I have NEVER been seated and then told to get up! Very unprofessional, the Additioally
customer pays a price for the restaurant’s inefficiency. I was extremely disappointed with this poor service stendard, and hoped the
Food & service would make up for it, but, alas it did not! Very ordinary Italian food!
Americano ..my first time there, Great Ambience and feel to the place .
Ordered a couple of things on the menu , the food was decent and fresh
The pizzas , brussle sprouts , The burrata, the Cauliflower truffle Risotto were all good .
The pastas were very average . Particularly the pesto ( soo salty cudnt eat it ) and the Alioe olio (their style of preparation but not for a regular palette a few may like it a few wont )
The desserts were the winner
The tiramisu and The Dark Chocolate .
The Biggest Looser was their arrogant staff and the service . If they mess up your order they refuse to accept it till you dont hustle with them .
They ruined a meal for 2 old couples who must be in their late 60's who were seated besides us . They made them jump tables twice ..they did not bring 2 dishes that they ordered an hour and half back and asked them to move a 3rd time . Felt extremely sorry to see how helpless the 2 couples felt and no apology from the staff to top it all they were charged for their entire meal . Sorry to say if you in the hospitality business be hospitable and teach your staff some manners !!
All in all doesn't live up to its Hype

Love the vibe of this place in colaba which has good food , drinks and dessert.
The duck confit made me salivate right from the time i ordered it to licking the plate dry.So so good
The cocktails were good as well.
Pleasently surprised!! Carted myself to kalagoda with zero expectations but was bowled over! The food and drinks overall were very good. Beware.. small portions, good for one person only.

The bartenders make some amazing gin cocktails. The breads are to die for . The corn ribs , cauliflower truffle risotto, sea bass in mains, prawns, mushroom Ragu and the carrots in mains all excellent. Finish of with the best tiramisu in India maybe

In all honesty I never ever not like a place or dislike a place nor do I this one but it was over all a very very average meal. I’m a fan of done done but the portions emerge ridiculously small , bland or salt less and quite expensive. I wouldn’t mind paying a hefty bill for the food I love but firstly this place was highly overrated and it didn’t really tick the right tastebuds at all. Although the cauliflower truffle risotto was my favorite here. We ordered, love letter, roasted beetroot salad, pesto pasta , rocket leaf salad, focaccia bread basket , mushroom on toast and some pizzas.
Food-O-Logy
I have been to this place around 4 times already. Only thing to be careful about is the choices you make as the taste of each dish can be very varied and appeal only to some. It's more like specific taste for specific people. Experimentation did not work well with us so we stuck to the same order all 4 times. AVOID MARGHERITA PIZZA.

We LOVED THE concept of NO CHEESE pizza my personal favorite is "Russo" ask the chef to make it a little crispy and more saucy and you will LOVE IT. I also loved "Love Letters" so tiny and so delicious.

The portions are too small for the price and more like 1 dish per person so value for money I would rate as 2/5.

My reason to Visit it all the next 3 times was the TIRAMISU. It is soooooo insanely tasty I need terrible amount of control on not finishing the entire one without sharing.

All in all go with a budget of 1800 per person for a full stomach which includes 1 pizza, 1 appetizer and 1 dessert.

About 10 days ago, a friend and I decided to try out Americano for an evening of casual drinks. The menu looked interesting so we quickly ordered the meat plate and the Burrata. The meat plate was fine while the Burrata that tasted great seemed a little stingy on the Burrata itself.

Cocktails were great.

We then ordered the beet root which was very interesting - I’d describe it as beautiful melange of flavours and textures, I felt it could have done a little better with some sweetness added on or maybe some figs.

The problem started with the pizza when we requested to top our margherita with some arugula Leaves. The staff was very worried with this request and came to check with us multiple times, we said we love arugula and would just like a few leaves on top suggesting that they could charge us if they liked. what came was a soup bowl full of margherita leaves of which we barely ate a few and the rest went back to them. They had indicated that they would charge us but what was charged on the bill was strange. We were charged Rs. 200 + GST for food. We spent almost 8000 between the 2 of us that night, so why do I bother about 200/- ? Well because it was just such a stingy and irrational thing to do. Unnecessary and silly. No one wants to argue when at the restaurant.

I’ve run my own restaurant so I understand what restaurants go through but I’ve also learnt where one needs to draw the line using common sense. 200 bucks for a bowl of arugula leaves when we just asked for some to be thrown over our pizza. Daft move. Who wants to eat a bowl of arugula?

The pizza was nice though but this is all we need to bring it from an otherwise 4 pointer to a 3 pointer for this review.

In light of Rahul Bose’s argument with JW Marriott Chandigarh, I though it’s atleast time we spoke up about these stupid price shenanigans instead of sucking it in just because we feel the social pressure to accept such silliness.
Chaitanya Shah
It’s a great place, enjoyed ambiance and food was super. Service was polite and prompt. Limited choice for beer but it’s ok as they have great cocktails/mocktails? Wine and wide range of alcohol.

This is one of the most disappointing places I’ve been to in Mumbai. The food was substandard, pizza had no meat, the menu was boring, the portions were small.
Essentially just not with the hype.
The liquor was good - but that’s not enough for a place that is supposedly so good.
Radhika Butala
Loved everything, food, cocktails, vibe, service. The gin cocktails were beautifully layered, the Brussels sprouts and spinach tortellini were delicious and the love letters appetizer was flavor packed. Skip dessert and make a reservation. It’s busy all night.

Americano, a place tucked away in the streets of Fort, is one of the best Italian restaurants i’ve tried in Mumbai. Being a hardcore fan of CinCin, i’d crowned the place as the IT girl of Italian food in the city. But to my surprise, Americano is a tough competitor!

The duck ravioli totally blew me away- the preparation was absolutely outstanding and the Artichoke Barigoule and celery root puree perfectly added to the flavour of this small plate.

The freshness of the cheese on the Salsiccia pizza was so evident when i had my first bite, that the 20% vegetarian in me is actually looking forward to eat their Margherita pizza the next time i visit this place. They also have dips for the crust, which i feel is a really cool concept to have. However, it’s quite heavy on your pocket ( Rs 725 for Pizza + Rs 250 for the dip!) and you’d rather find a better half to eat those crusts.

We had our apprehensions on ordering the sourdough bread with the cultured butter and while it wasn’t a bad decision, i still feel it could’ve been avoided. The Kalamata olives are a must order for the experience, so do add that to your list.

I experimented with the dessert and went ahead with the mangoes and cream, but on second thoughts, the dark chocolate cake or the creme brûlée might have been better choices. Charting it for next time!
Mehernosh Khajotia
Just impossible to get a reservation and even if you do there is a wait for your table. Standard food like all the other places in Mumbai nothing exceptional but good down to earth good quality food. I liked the pizza with the eggs Kejariwal.... unique.. The slow cooked veal, crudo of seabass, duck ravioli, love letter (crispy rolls) sweet corn ribs (just corn with a nice spice rub on it. The coffee was outstanding definitely try it. It's called Cortado.
Natasha Gupta
Delicious hand made pizzas, the dough was very light , the roast chicken was outstanding so was the arugula salad . The corn creme brûlée creamy and scrumptious. A must visit for food lovers !!!!

What an experience! Rajendra helped us with our order and took care of our night, thanks Rajendra! We ordered a Rosso pizza that was off the charts, both flavour and texture wise. Cauliflower risotto with truffle oil was super interesting - must try! We also had a mushroom ragu that tasted really really nice thanks Alex!
Ended with a almond olive oil cake with lavender and something Florentine and cinnamon gelato! Wish we could have packed some extra gelato..

I always say never discard a restaurant just because the so called “rating” is not good. I still prefer the old school reference module. The same happened here, my friends were gushing about the food here but the ratings were not supporting their claim. We decided to go and have to say, the food was outstanding.

When I made the reservation I found that the personnel on the other end wasn’t that accommodating, we needed a table for 8 and they said they can make arrangement for only 7 that too it won’t be comfortable, even then I went ahead and booked, I got a text stating that reservation is confirmed but since it’s a first seating (8 pm) they will require the table back by 10. Now I had a feeling that low ratings might make sense as the hospitality doesn’t seem to be their strong point

We reached on time and I must say I had no complaints on the food or the service. Infact we got a bigger table. We were made comfortable and were ready to hog
. The server was attentive and made great suggestions as well

Margherita – Brilliant – marinara sauce was perfect generously loaded with buffalo mozzarella. One might argue that you find this in many restaurants these days, agreed ! but now comes the usp, their dips, yes they serve pizza with 3 dips, the other 2 were ok but salsa one was just too good, I remember eating even the sides of the pizza which I never do

Rosso pizza – Pizza without cheese- now that’s a sin and I wasn’t ready to commit one , so we ordered rosso pizza with the cheese , I found it ok but my friends preferred this one as it was seasoned with oregano, garlic, basically it wasn’t bland

Sweet corn ribs – Nothing great but the spicing on the top was good

Rosemary potato - Disappointing !

Love letters – this miniature filled with crème and avocado paste was too good, the flavors just burst in your mouth

Focaccia – the bread was great, butter was too salty for my taste

Truffle & Cauliflower risotto – This was dish of the day. Texture, taste, flavor all was perfect, I really should have ordered one more, I detest cauliflower even then I loved this dish, risotto without rice, this one is definitely worth coming back for

Hazelnut gelato – Creamiest gelato I had, would have preferred more crushed hazelnut on top though

Warm almond cake – this was disappointing, even the cinnamon gelato accompanied with it couldn’t salvage this dish

The server recommended some mangoe cream desert, that was great as well, I am sure it must be seasonal

Being a huge fan of Chef Sanchez, I couldn't wait to try out Americano.

Walked in without reservations, got seated at the bar and later they gave us a table.

Had huge expectations from the food, and the food was both amazing and surprising.
Chef Sanchez wasn't trying to impress, he was trying to feed comfort food, elevated.

And all of it worked.

Could go back just for the corn ribs and the pizza (which is, definitely the best in the city).

An amazing place to get some of the best cocktails and food in Colaba. With just the right vibe and atmosphere.... Exactly what Mumbai needed. Extensive spirit selection, house made liqueurs, bitters, and well balanced drinks. Over 20 to chose from!

From house made unique pastas, pizzas, small plates, and even fun little cocktail snacks, there is something here for everyone, veg or non.

Personal favourites: Slow Cooked Veal, Crispy Duck Confit, Tigelle, Spiced Baby Beets, Pici Pasta, Crudo of Sea Bass, Calamari, Roasted Prawns.
Sandeep Samtani
Had dinner this evening at Americano. Started with their roasted prawns. Very small size indeed and average in taste. This was followed by their ribs which were very fatty and ordinary in taste. Next item was Calamari which was delicious. Very good sauce. The next starter was the mushroom crostone which was surprisingly good in taste( as I have a negative bias towards veg food). This was followed by their duck which was a hit too. The penultimate item was their meatballs in pesto sauce. This was above average. Finally their pizza was as good as can be. The killer was their dessert. The tiramisu would rank amongst the best in Mumbai. Very good service from Srikant. Super ambience and vibe. Very busy. The meal without alcohol worked out to rupees 2000 per head.Ideally would like to rate it 3.5 but since there is no option for that, rated it 4 stars

Lovated in fort, this place is magical. I tried their, cocktails pizza and a few other dishes. They were all very savoury to the mouth. When the weather’s warm, I crave a great drink from their cocktail menu. This is a cocktail called green tiger. They have several more which can really satisfy your soul 🍸 🍹

We went for an early dinner on Sunday @7pm when most tables were empty. We were made to sit at the bar even though after we finished the meal there were still at least 4 empty tables.
Drinks: excellent cocktails

I loved the food especially the mushroom pasta. The margherita pizza was liked by 1 person and disliked by the other person. I also ordered the chicken wings which i disliked. Though i did not complain about the wings the staff saw that we didn't eat it and did not not charge us for it.

Great food, very well decorated and a nice selection of drinks. Service was a bit slow though. Went on a Friday night so it was understandably crowded.

A restuarant's success is apparent when one has to wait for a table even on week nights and thats the case with Americano. The wait was worth it because once the food was on the table we couldnt stop eating and kept repeating our orders including the desserts, which are to die for. Loved the happy and cheerful ambience. looking forward to my next date with Americano !

When I heard the ex chef of Table was opening his new restaurant I knew I had to go check it out. In the quaint neighborhood of Kala Ghoda, my experience at Americano was amazing! From the starters to main course to the cocktails it was excellent. Even the ambiance was vibrant and lively. I would recommend the following:
Potato Love Letters - A small and delightful dish
Sourdough Bread - Came freshly baked and left me wanting more
Baby Beet Salad - was apprehensive about ordering it but the lady taking my order suggested it and was surprisingly delicious.
Pesto Pasta - Came in an interesting round flat shape pasta and was delicious
Margarita Pizza - Before ordering it I was upset that they don’t allow additional toppings. But you don’t need additional toppings it’s perfect as it is!
Tiramisu - Again I don't really love Tiramisu but the lady suggested it and I went for it. It was definitely one of the best I have ever eaten!

For drinks I found my new fav cocktail in the city - Gateway Tonic!

Definitely going back soon!

It's not easy to create an experience that pleases all your senses, and I belive this is something that Americano succeeds in doing. Delicious food that makes you think about it often, just like you would your mother's chocolate cake or Bolognese pasta, and just like childhood favourites, the food, staff and atmosphere here make you feel right at home. Decently priced for the quality of ingredients used and thought that goes into the plates. Apart from pizza, the rest are individual plates (yes, it's an Italian restaurant not Delhi darbar!) so be prepared to eat your pasta alone. The music sets the mood be it for early dinner or that evening cocktail (which are also incredibly well designed!). It gets very busy over the weekend, so make sure you are prepared to be patient for your table. If you're not, consider an early seating during the week, and book well in advance. I don't live in the area, but this will most certainly be my weekly neighbourhood hangout.

The booking experience with Americano itself and was painful. We called to book a table for 7.30pm today, it was informed to us that the table will be given only till 9.30pm if the place gets full. This itself is unacceptable as every other place has a conventional 3 hour slot. We still did not dispute this and requested that the booking should be confirmed. Thereafter we received a mesagae confirming the booking which provided that the table will be available to us till 10pm. Despite the same, once again we received a call from the restaurant saying that we will necessarily have to vacate the table at 9.30pm whether or not the place is full. This behaviour of the restaurant of being difficult itself will drive customers away. Unacceptable.

I visited this place with few friends last week and was very disappointed. We were give a table much later than the promised time. We had to repeatedly ask for it actually. The waiter came to us in 10 minutes and informed us about the last call for orders. How do they expect us to finish a meal in 35 minutes? Food tasted quite average. And it is overly priced for the quantity. The partner owner did not even come to us for a feedback when we asked for her specifically. Overall a bad experience.

For the article that was published in papers , that it is a reasonably priced restaurant , they were false claims wih small sized portions at an exorbant amount . Taste of the food not great . I liked the chef when he was at The Table. Moreover they don’t follow their own rules of giving customers their tables as per slots where they give us a table at 10.50 instead of 10.30 and then pressurise is to order quickly as the last order will b at 11.30. Also the partner giving away the tables had a cold attitude and couldn’t help us to have a better experience .
This place claims something and does something else. We were asked to reach before time so that we can get a table at 10.30 sharp. But we got a place only by 10.50 after repeatedly asking them for a table. After getting the place we ordered some food which would not even suffice for one person let alone a group. We were then told that the last order is 11.30 so how can you ask us to start at 10.50 and end by 11.30. This place is overly priced for the quatity and quality. And just for the record i am no food blogger just a normal person staying in Mumbai so my reviews are geniune.

I visited this place last sat with few friend. The ambience is good. We had booked a table for 8 at 10.30 and we got the table by 10.50 pm. Then we were told that last Oder will be taken at 11.30. The service was horrible and the staff was very very rude. The least we were expecting was that the food served will be good. But we were shocked to see the portion size which was not even enough for one person. The taste of the food was below average. Even after complaining they didn’t do much. Plz don’t go to this restaurant and waste your money as it is quite pricey.

My experience was pretty disappointing. We had been trying to reserve the place since two weeks. Finally after lots of efforts and calls we did get one for the 10.30 slot. We requested for the previous slot but was full and we were strictly told that tables for the earlier slot have to be compulsory vacated by 10pm. We reached the restaurant by 10pm. The table allocated to us was occupied till 10.45pm. We were told off by the Not -So polite lady at the reception twice. Once she mentioned that they were guests known to one of the partners. The partner I personally then confronted twice separately. She had a very cold indifferent i-dont-give-a-damn attitude. We finally got our table at 10.50. Server comes to the table saying last order at 11.30. How does one expect to “savour” the difference courses mentioned in the menu in 45min, especially when you pay 17k bill between 8pax (apparently the description says its an “economical” restaurant 1500/- for two ! The food taste— average for the hype. Portions not enough even for two ppl. They should definitely mention and correct information given abt them instead of Misguding the customers. Overall a terribly spent Saturday night for me and my friends . Surely wont be visiting again

Food not bad but over priced and quantity was too little.. one dish max for two people. Service was good, place was crowded and too noisy...

I went to Americano a couple of wks back and had the best pizza by far in Mumbai. Chef Alex has again made sure that food in Mumbai keeps on growing and improving
We had a feast tbh and ordered a lot of dishes. Two of us were vegan and got to eat such a divine pizza which we ordered again, with that we had our two vegan pastas again a delight and perfect portion size to keep on ordering different options. The corn ribs are smart and flavourful. I would also like to mention the hot sauce which I must have ordered twice is to die for

The cocktail menu is minimal yet powerful. I mean that's how they've put this brand across.. simple things work and let the food speak for it. Ambience and vibe is perfect and service is also top notch.
P.s I loved the vegan almond cake, I will be coming here often
Kudos to the team

Had booked a table for 10.30,got it at around 10.45 by 11.40 they served us the salad appetizers mains and desserts, no breathing between any course. They were in super rush to serve and probably close the restaurant before midnight.
Charged us for something we did not consume ( So be careful and check bills properly) had paid a deposit of 5k to book the table, they did not account for that, finally after again showing the deposit slip they adjusted the amount.
So in all not a pleasant experience ,though food was good, but the rush to serve it killed the entire evening

Food is nice, drinks are nice but the valet will ask you if you have a reservation or not and if you don't then he will ask you to go in and check before he will take the car from you.

To summarise the portion sizes are really very small and priced accordingly, however you need to order quite a bit to fill your tummy. The place is good, great vibe and ambience, food is must try here.

Firstly, Americano needs to increase the portion size. They also need to consider their pricing. It’s over priced and not so accommodating. The dishes we ordered were nice but nothing outstanding. The food, Portion size, decor and vibe of that place are not in sync with the pricing charged. Paying golden dragon rates for a below average experience is not going to make Americano successful. The fact that, the chef was not accommodating the request of ours to serve a simple dish of grilled veggies with an arabiatta sauce ( sauce was on the menu ) implies that hospitality and service is not the priority for Americano. In a service based business, a customer is the king and if the customer isn’t accommodated then perhaps they don’t want repeat customers. overall not a good experience!

The most ridiculous experience I encountered with this restaurant happened when I tried reserving a table.

We are asked to pay a deposit.

This is the most ridiculous condition I’ve ever come across. We cut the call and decided to go elsewhere for food.

I’ve made bookings at finer restaurants as well as 5 star hotels. These places also don’t ask for deposits.

Guess class is class. I’d rather pay more for a 5 star than a place like this.
Lokesha Shroff
Terrible experience in trying to reserve a table. I think it's ridiculous that we are asked for a deposit for reserving a table.

Made and cancelled countless bookings at other restaurants but no one has ever asked for a deposit.

I found it better to cut the call and cancel my plan to visit this restaurant. I am not desparate to try out your restaurant there are hundreds of restaurants that will entertain my request without deposits. Large groups should avoid this restaurant because the restaurant will expect you to book 2 smaller tables instead of 1 large table.

This will not go down with potential customers and I will make it a point to dissuade my friends and colleagues from visiting your restaurant.

I had been to this restaurant last week.
It was an amazing experience- the ambience is damn cool, the interior is just a perfect place to dine in.
The food as heard of chef Alex and his skills is just perfect and more than expected.
More contributing to the service, I specially credit to the hostress there Khayal, who was very polite over the phone for the reservation purpose.
Really appreciate everything about this place and would like to visit here more often.
Aanchal Saigal
I just had the worst experience. I’d called earlier today to book a table for 2. Khayal, the hostess who answered my call, confirmed a booking at the community table. I confirmed and requested her to let me know in case a normal table would be available later. She took down my full name and details. I called at night to check on the possibility of being shifted to a normal table and the hostess, who was obnoxious to say the least, denied any confirmation of my booking at the community table. I kept telling her Khayal confirmed and she kept saying it wasn’t possible. Her tone implied that I was lying. She refused to give me her name - for obvious reasons. Please make sure the hostess answering is well trained. It a horrid experience to have without even visiting the place.

Impossible to get a reservation and after much fuss and a last minute confirmation, we made it! Our table was located in the centre of the restaurant which was buzzing. Americano scores full marks on atmosphere offering smart, urban interiors with a commensurately matched crowd.
The portions are small which allowed us to sample most of their small plates but bearing that in mind, this is what we, a table of 5 omnivores, had:

The sweet corn ribs totally live up to their hype and is a must try.
One can never go wrong with The Burrata salad, which was safe but still a gastronomic delight.
The truffle and cauliflower risotto seemed liked a concession to the high fat Keto folks. It was creamy and delicious but you have to like cauliflower.
The Crudo of Sea Bass was the best thing on the menu. We were forewarned that it was raw but turned out to be very fresh and tangy.
The crispy duck confit was a melange of duck sweetened with fig on a scramble of arugula and hit all the right notes on the palate.
The Spiced Chicken wings were greasier than usual and therefore disappointing. Everyone tried one but was put off by the oiliness.
The Fire Roasted Spare Ribs were satisfying and simply served, hitting all the notes for ribs lovers.
The calamari braised in white wine was slightly fishy and chewy but polished off In seconds - owing to its portion size and
The oven roasted prawns were undoubtedly delicious but were doused with too much oil, which seemed to be the recurring theme of our tribulations.

We only had one main course, which was the Roast chicken alla Diavola which again was very greasy. The accompany potatoes were crispy perfection but the chicken lacked in sophistication.

For dessert, the Tiramisu hit all the right notes and is one of the best Tiramisus that I’ve had in the city.
The almond cake came with a dishearteningly small dollop of icecream and we had to get another scoop which seemed even smaller than the original. The cake paired with a crispy Florentine was not bad.

All in all, worth a visit. Our only regret was the food lacked in complexity and departed from contemporary fine food due to the heavy-handedness with oil.

Visited Americano second time yesterday. I was in love with their Tiramisu, so thought of going there again to try some new dishes that I had missed out last time. We had made a reservation beforehand but yet we were told to wait. The restaurant had 6 empty tables, but they love to make their customers wait. For what? The girl at the reception makes it extra difficult for you to like this place. We had to request her to give us a free table as we had already made reservations but just coz we were 15 mins early she wouldn't give us one. After a lot of coaxing we got her to give us a table. Once we sat down, we ordered a few starters like corn ribs, focaccia bread, potato love letters. The portions are tiny. Even after calling for three starters between the two of us, we were starving. Corn ribs is tasty but also very expensive. We switched to the pizza and pasta. Pasta being in the mains still had so little quantity that we hardly each got 3 pieces to taste. Post dinner we called for their famous Tiramisu . That at least made up for the horrible experience we had with the service. But I'm just questioning. Is a restaurant only about good food and a great chef? What about the service and portions? Are they not considered to make the restaurant experience better? I would give negative rating for their service. This is not the first time I have experienced bad service from them. I doubt I want to revisit a place that does not respect its customers.

Chef was extremely rude and more is expected from a chef instead of chucking attitude. Must improve service if it wants to do well. He might want to learn the ways of treating Indian customers if he is unaware at the moment

New place which has opened in fort, and has a very classy and upscale decor and ambience. It is very difficult to get a table booking as the place gets booked a week in advance. We were just two of us and decided to go for walk in, and luckily got a table after 40-45 mins at the bar. The food is exquisite with exotic in presentation as is expected from the chef, but the quantity was barely enough even for two. The prices are also on the expensive side compared to a lot of restaurants in the area, so if you are looking for a exotic dining experience I would highly recommend the place but otherwise not so much if you are a big group looking to chill out.

Excellent food and the ingredients used also is good. Expensive for alcohol. Service and courtesy by staff superb. Overall a must visit place.

Not bad. Food is good as you would anyway expect it to be in a place like this. Desserts are excellent and a must try! We ordered their special corn ribs which was great but again not worth 550₹. Slightly on the higher end. About the place, it’s trying too hard to bring out a chirpy, noisy European bar feel. Americano attracts typical south Bombay crowd with older, uptight, kitty party vibe.

I would definitely visit again for its desserts but not otherwise.

Overall not a bad experience. If you are around kala Goodall then you can try it out.

The food is great and so is the bar , the problem is they need to be clear is it a dinning experience or quick service restaurant where they keep dishing out food so fast that u can’t even have a conversation ☹️

I brought my family to Americano last night for my birthday. We were a table of 8, and frankly I've never been quite so underwhelmed. We generally stick to classics, but we heard this was a Chef Alex's new restaurant so we decided to give it a try. Rest assured, we won't be back. Ever.
We ordered:
the barbecued corn ribs (oily),
the potato love letters (TINY-The Grinch is more generous),
the pici aglio olio pasta (quite nice),
the pepper and cacio e pepe pasta (highly average),
the spiced beets,
the suppli (good),
the margherita pizza (awful)
and the rosso pizza (not bad)
For desserts we ordered the tiramisu and the almond cake
I had quite a few issues but three stand out with this restaurant.
One is how terribly tiny their portion sizes are. It would be criminal to call the potato love letters bite sized, they're bite sized enough for Antman-when he decides to truly drop to the size of an ant. We ordered so many starters but still had to keep calling for seconds when we realized small and stingy the portion sizes were.
Second was, we asked for some tomato sauce/marinara sauce on the side and the waiter said the Chef refused. Why does the Chef deem it fit to refuse such a simple request? Especially in a restaurant that serves pizza and pasta, where marinara sauce forms the bedrock of his prep? The sheer arrogance pissed me off.
Thirdly, pizzas, pastas and appetizers were just plonked down on the table-as if the very pain of carting it across the 10 meter distance from the kitchen to the table was enough. & alright, you don't want to serve your miniscule dishes, don't. But at least provide the necessary serving spoon!?
Now since I'm at it, I might as well also mention, the food truly truly is a complete letdown. I think particularly so because of our high expectations. The pizza sauce is slightly sweet, as though it hasn't been seasoned well or the san marzano tomatos haven't been cooked through-an abomination to anyone that loves a good pizza. HOW CAN YOUR PIZZA BE SWEET? & HOW CAN YOU SCREW UP A MARGHERITA PIZZA?!
The desserts were fuller sized however, and surprisingly delicious. I wouldn't bother with much else haha.

You seldomn find meals where no dish disappoints. Especially when you tend to order a whole bunch of things from the menu.

Americano is one such restaurant where every dish is either really good or outstanding. Have always been a fan of Chef Alex Sanchez' food but he's taken this one a whole level above.

Started off the meal with the most Instagrammed dish - the sweet corn ribs - this vegetarian bite will win over a meat eater's heart. Followed by some potato love letters ( bite size versions of chips and dips), warm foccacia, tigelle flatbread, chicken wings, prawns in olive oil and a beyond amazing duck confit.
The truffle and cauliflower rissoto is an absolute winner as is the lamb sausage pizza.

Moving on to the mains we ordered the Spinach Tortellini, a subtle and heartwarming dish and the Meat broth tortellini that is something I'm going to be craving in the monsoons. Tried the Tajarin al Ragu in the Pastas and this one was even thinner than your regular capellini. An absolute delight.

The Grilled Seabass with the crispy skin and that brilliant celery pesto as well as The Roast Chicken with those absolutely crispy potatoes shouldn't be missed out on! Make sure you order the heirloom carrots along with these, the black sesame honey will blow your mind.

Now coming to the best part of all my meals - dessert! Ordered the Tiramisu, Torta Tenerina and the Brown butter Pannacotta - All were phenomenal but the Tiramisu particularly is paradise.

A highly recommended restaurant.
Everything about Americano is perfect. Right from the welcome at the door, the super and prompt service and of course the food. I think the fact that it's been packed every night since it opened speaks for itself. One of the best places in recent times it has become our go to for Italian food. What I like best is the authenticity of the food. It is not the typical cheesy food dripping in tomato sauce that has become synonymous with Italian food at most places.
I recommend trying everything on the menu but some of the best things are the sea bass ceviche, brussel sprouts, yes you read that right, the lamb pizza, the ribs, tenderloin strips and of course the tortellini en brodo. For dessert the tiramisu Americano is a must try.
Go try it, you won't be disappointed.

There were quite a few good things about this place, and I'd like to believe that the not-so-great things were just teething troubles.
The not-so-good
1. We asked if there was a risotto on the menu and the waiter told us there was. When it came to our table, it was deep fried risotto cubes. Not what we were expecting at all
2. One of my friends is gluten intolerant and we asked if they could make the aglio olio pasta with their gluten free penne and add chicken to it - the wait staff said that was not possible. (Wut??)
3. They have a section named something to the effect of "large portions for 2". It could maybe feed 2 people from the island of lilliput. Not 2 regular sized people. Was not enough for 1. There's subjectivity and the there's this.
4. The best thing about the cheese platter was the walnuts.
5. The staff forgot about our chicken wings order and it was the last thing on our table (well...almost, since we had to hold back on the tiramisu order)

The good
1. Very good romaine heart and charted cucumber salad! Who would've thought you could do that to cucumber??
2. The garganelli with mushrooms was outstanding!
3. The aforementioned portions for two - Tenderloin with pancetta and the seabass were both decent. Not outstanding - but not bad at all.
4. The margherita pizza - also outstanding
5. The pièce de résistance was the Tiramisu. OMG! So good!

So a mixed dinner. But I'd probably go again, with the hope that they've sorted out the glitches.

With a minimalistic decor, lively atmosphere, this relatively small restaurant is a nice addition to the Kala Ghoda area. The starters we had were extraordinarily good, including an arugula salad, gnocco, and sea bass crudo. The negroni is delicious too as was the tiramisu. However, we were a bit disappointed with the pasta—busiati and cacio e pepe—very basic, chewy (wrong choice of pasta) and small in portion (to qualify as main course). The panna cotta was just too sweet. The service is decent, the open kitchen fun to watch too. Make reservations before going. My rating would be a shade under 4.

We came here last night at this much spoken about new dining place by chef Alex Sanchez. My experience is summed up as below -

- Manhattan Sour was a little too sweet
- Corn ribs - clever reinterpretation to give a vegetarian version of "ribs". The salsa with it was good.
- Sourdough bread - decent, the polished, egg (or spaceship) shaped butter is nice!
- Fritter - Average. The sauce with it (thumbs down)
- Fig and beet salad - excellent. Standout in terms of flavours.
- Pastas - pretty good
- Pizzas on the table - didn't have so cant comment
- Tiramisu - yum, yum! - the most memorable dish of the night thanks to the chocolate disc covering and the large portion
- Lemon Gelato - something unusual and wonderful
- Chocolate cake with fresh cream - Also good

Dear Chef Alex - WRT portion size -

USA mains portion size - super size - adequate for 3 -4 people
Europe mains portion size - adequate for 1 European but sometimes 2 can manage
Americano India mains portion size - like a small plate, very unsatisfying and not value for money and too small

This is not just my opinion but the opinion of all the 6 dining companions on my table.

Please look into this as this will discourage us to return if we feel that mains are not adequate and satisfying.

There are so many restaurants you go to and find your experience to be good overall but will never find yourself wanting to return for a particular flavour or dish. Nothing seems memorable nor does any particular element stand out. But that’s not the case with Americano! Every morsel is a subtle explosion of clean flavour sans any pretence. I ordered just a pizza and pasta since I wanted to gauge the place first instead of just order everything and land up in a food coma. The ravioli was stunning and you can tell that all the ingredients are of spectacular quality. The Rosso pizza has no cheese but definitely has a moist texture and the zing of the tomatoes coupled with the fresh garlic flavour was an absolute treat! Finished off the meal with the americano tiramisu which is devoured in record time. It’s the only tiramisu which has a crunch and that crunch lends such a great texture! I cannot wait to explore more of the menu! So thankful this place exists!!

Amazing place! Perfect ambience, good music, brilliant cocktails and food is great, intelligent and packed with flavours. Chef Alex Sanchez at his best. A must try

Visited last night. Great ambience, house full, great buzz (Chef Alex Sanchez + Saturday night + his own brand new restaurant, what else to expect!?). Both food and service were excellent. Our table was ready at the appointed time, our server was knowledgeable about food and made appropriate recommendations. Having already had our drinks elsewhere, we did not try any of the cocktails but my husband was surprised and happy to get his favourite Aberlour 12.
The menu comprised mainly of small plates, and a limited range of pastas , pizzas, main course items and vegetable sides. We were advised to try the small plates as the mains would take more time, and we did, and sure enough, the food arrived very quickly.
The flavours overall were natural, balanced and distinctive. It was evident that the ingredients were of the freshest and best quality. The grilled prawns and calamari in white wine were outstanding, and we ordered second portions of each. The slow-cooked veal was succulent and flavourful, however, the dull grey color of the meat was a bit off-putting. The corn 'ribs' was a twist on our bhutta with a smoky chilli flavour, but the second order was spicier than the first and did not go down to well with some in our group. The tangy arugula/bitter greens salad was a very refreshing plate cleanser, and the grilled baby zuccini was delectably crunchy and flavourful.
The let-down was the pizza Margarita which was overloaded with a fairly non-descriptive tomato sauce which made it very soggy and the base could not hold up. I dont know if this was meant to be served it with a dipping sauces for the crust (as I later read somewhere), but we weren't served any. In any case, I used the leftover crust to mop up the delicious sauce from the calamari since the garlic bread we had ordered right at the beginning did not show up till halfway through the meal. A bread-basket is much required!
The desserts were outstanding! The house tiramisu was decadent yet light, the dark chocolate torte was dense and decadent, and the almond olive oil cake topped with cinnamon ice cream (compliments of the chef to make up for our disappointment with the pizza, we were told) offered a nutty ending that was a pleasant contrast to the rich sweetness that had preceded.
We are all really looking forward to going back, and hopefully they will also be open for lunch soon.

There's a new Italian restaurant opened in town called Americano at Kala Ghoda helmed by Alex Sanchez. We had visited the place on the second day of the opening, so it was swarming with people.

The decor of the place was minimalistic and I loved the vibe of the place especially the way they have used the lighting.

On the food front, we ordered the following:

For starters we ordered Suppli which is cheese stuffed rice balls that were deep fried. (3.5/5)

Then we ordered a salad called Romaine Hearts which basically consists of Cucumber and Romaine lettuce with a mayo cream dressing. (2/5)

For the second course we ordered a Margherita Pizza with Onions along with their special three dips, which I highly recommend for the crusts. Loved & appreciated with high recommendations. (4/5)

For the third course we had Cacio E Pepe. Homemade Pasta with Cheese and Peppers. (3.5/5)

For desserts we had their version of Tiramisu Americano (5/5) that comes with a cripsy chocolate layer on top. As people say, save the best for the last, I think that is what the restaurant did with the Tiramisu. It feels like silky heaven melting in your mouth.

Overal loved the food, will surely visit next time especially for their Tiramisu.

#fatkiddiaries #fatkidproblems #fatkidrecommends #bhukkadrecommeds #mumbaifoodlovers #mumbaifoodie #mumbaichafoodies #munchymumbai #shotonsamsung #s9plus #foodpics #igeats #igfood #buzzfeedfood #huffposttaste #foodtalkindia #kalaghoda #comfortfood #dietcravings #dinnerdate #foodcravings #ctfood #curlytalesmumbai #americano #flatlay #flatlaystyle #flatlaysquad #beginningswithbae
