I was in cst for shopping to this location and I finished my shopping around lunch and I was looking for something authentic and fast so my friend suggested me to look for this iconic place known as vitthals and to my surprise it was amazing with the quality of of the sev Puri .They also customize your chaat item as per your taste.
Quite a reasonable food menu. Quite an unreasonable bar menu. The restaurant seating area is very pleasantly air conditioned though not very spacious. Good place for a decent meal.
You are taking delivery charges RS.50/- which is too much for a short distance of 5 mts.
I was travelling for work to this location and I finished my work around lunch and I was looking for something authentic and fast so my friend suggested me to look for this iconic place known as vitthals and to my surprise it was amazing with the quality of of the bhel, it was something which I was actually lookin to have it was savoury n filling i only didn't like the pani puri coz Mumbai offers better than what they serve. Staff was very efficient and courteous to ask me why haven't I finished pani puri I told them I didn't like it they apologised. To be honest it's an iconic restaurant with a history of its own the old building is not the place where from they operate its four shops after the old shop they are operating from. It's a must for you if you are around this place n love street food with a edge over others specially in bhel
Dahi puri was melted when I received. other food was good. I think they should change the packagingof dahi piri.
An old place which started off as a chat place and grew to be so famous that people used to pack stuff when they went abroad and visit it as soon as possible. They branched out, some internal fights and it fell off the radar.
One fine day it pinged on the memory and we ordered, bhel, Sev Puri and samosa ragda. Very good, the chutney tastes the same as before. A clear nostalgia hit.
Now need to visit and try out the chaat with couple of beers.
One of the best places you will ever eat Chaat items at. Simply amazing taste. Sheer variety of different chaat items and the quality will make you come here again and again. The staff is very polite and warm. They also customize your chaat item as per your taste. The service to us was quick despite the restaurant being nearly full at the time we ordered. Thoroughly enjoyed all food items. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
nice place . location wise also good. liquor with only veg food. have drink with famous bhel and panipuri.this is the only 1 hotel which serves you lots of starter free with drinks.
Very nice service and quality of food.
I have eaten here from my childhood. This restaurant has never disappointed.
Their sev puri is a must have. If you ever come town side.

Decent place to have an affordable meal. The place is clean enough and the ambiance is okish. Nothing to complain about as such, and yes, the soap at the wash-basin smells awesome.

A trip to Mumbai after 4 years and can never be completed with a visit to Vithal Bhelwala.
Taste is same. Had a bigger place and is operating just adjacent from a smaller outlet. Taste is still same. No compromises on food quality. Nostalgic for regulars
I'd heard about vitthal s legendary bhel from my mom. The original bhel restaurant is shut but they serve bhel and chat in this one. I really liked the bhel...the chutneys were rich and flavourful and they added lots of kairi which i love. A side tray of chutneys was a nice touch . The chhaas i ordered was a let down to be honest...it tasted like some chemical concoction. But the bhel more than made up for it.
For those who don't know.. Bhel Puri was originally introduced by Vithal Family. Years back when the original churchgate was near flora fountain outside St Thomas Church (original church - as the name churchgate was derived from) few meters away there was this bhiku behram well just outside the gate. There the Vithal family blended the North indian chat, Maharashtrian badann and gujrati combination of red green n sour Chutneys n created BHEL... Back then the space was open, vast ground n sea view (which is now marine drive)... People used to just roam in open and the place was also called hawaai khana.. So BHEL was the huge hit for visitors there. Need to know information
Good place to have a beer with your dinner (upstairs), downstairs serves food but no alcohol. Tasty, good value vegetarian food and excellent service.
Nice place for veg options. The bar is on the first floor and offers options very easy on your wallet.
It feels like home .. Simple and traditional !!
The ground floor is for fun dining!! and Chat!! (the place we visited) very simple layout!!
Pricing is a little steep but a good trade off for a Colaba chat house.
Must Visit for all, who really want to unwind and understand why this still exists (since 1875).
Vithals is where you get great tasting snacks like Sevpuri, bhelpuri, pavbhaji to name a few. If you feel snacky, n wanna have the traditional dishes, this is the place to have it. Great service and convenient location. Next time you are in town, do not miss out on this place.
The atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful. A good place to have both meal as well as street snacks. The service is also good and yes I enjoyed my meal.
Its an old world charm. Hence seats are not comfortable for oversized people. Food is costly. But tasty too. Staff etc are very genial.
