Been here few times in Past since was little Kid and always make a point to visit when I am that side of the town...
Love there Dosa Items , especially Sandwich Uttappa. But more so I really relish Sambar and Chutney which are quite different to one we find in regular South indian joints...
Well , this place for me is more of an Nostalgia rather then being critical of quality... and will always be...
They serve one of the most yummiest South indian dishes ... I love the chutney n sambhar here. But if you are someone who wants some grt ambience and alll over food i would say this is not the place. If your preference is quality of food over ambience i would recommend to atleast give it a try for sure. I
106 years old restaurant!! have been a regular visitor since childhood! Family outing for south Indian breakfast! Best and authentic tambi food!
A hidden gem located in the by lanes of Kalbadevi Road...This place has been serving all the hungry folks for at least 4 decades. I am really surprised to see such few reviews..The food is really authentic. The cocunut chutney, Sambhar and Rasam are really good.
Tip: Sandwich Utthappa is the main USP of this place...It's an ideal sunday brunch.

The place is located in the heart of kalbadevi it is a small restaurant barely visible from the main road but if you are visiting kalbadevi this is a must visit place for early morning snacks and evening suppers its famous for its south Indian dishes and the main attraction is sandwich dosa is mind boggling a very unique combination although the ambience is avg the service is great.

Delicious food in this small Laxmi Vilas Hindu Hotel. Food quality is awesome, rates are surprisingly cheaper for full meal. It's just 80 Rs. for unlimited food. Awesome experience. Gurjar family maintain this quality food since many years. Happy to Visit hear. Do visit once.
Laxmi Vilas Hindu Hotel the south Indian have closed and now opened to Rajasthani thali..which is very delicious and the cost is minimum..must visit once ..surely reminds of ghr ka desi khana
I am found your South Indian food over this place in whole Mumbai I've tried a lot of restaurants in Matunga but this is the South Indian authentic food restaurant display is very small untidy old but to put the taste chatni Sambhar rassm are authentic.
Truly real taste of south.

One of the oldest in this locality!
As far a I remember, I tasted my first ever south Indian dish from this hotel. We used to get takeaways from here or even sometimes my dad or elder brother used to take me here. It is very close to my heart! In younger days, this was our regular meeting place too!
Very authentic, delicious, tasty south Indian dishes served here since then. My favorite once are Medu Wada sambar, Jada Dosa, Idli chutney. I remember they serve typical south Indian powder chutney too.
Well, almost all dishes are great in taste and served with a great hospitality. You can take your family here also. Only thing is it is not a specious considering locality.
Only thing I see is the furniture need a change! Kitchen need a upgrade too.

A good restaurant for southern delicacies like masala dosa and Medu wada. Puri Bhaji can be substituted for lunch. A deceptive place in terms ambience, broken benches and tables. Waiters average. But food good. Try once if you like street food.
About 50yeqts old south Indian udupi. Serves very good idli vada dosa , sambar is really tasty. Chitin also very authentic. Not very well kept.
