Love this place . For the fact that it’s right opposite my house n they deliver at record time ! Food is sumptuous, one issue is consistency... I order the fish biryani and some days it has chunky piece and someday small leftover piece. They need to sort that out otherwise all is well !!!

Wonderful place for all Malvani hunger monsters located in the heart of the city. Famous for its kombdi vade but also serves excellent other chicken n mutton dishes too. We tried vazari sukha too which was excellent. N the entire lunch can be further enhanced by a glass of solkadi. Not tried fish dishes though but vade were awesome. Hotel is small with limited serving counter but good for small family non vegetarian lunch or dinner.

I visit this place quite often but still I do not have any pictures to share the only reason that I can think of is the food comes very fast and the same is so tempting that I forget to click pics(I will visit again and update pictures shortly). They serves some authentic malvani food. Surmai, Bombil, tisrya and kombdi vade thalis are recommend. They also serve very nice bheja thali. The ambiance is not all that great but they definitely more then compensate in taste, quality and pricing.  The place is very busy during lunch hours hence plane accordingly before visiting.

PS: they are shut on Tuesday's

This is a good option if you are want to have sea food.
We had the prawns thali and pomfret thali.
The service is quick. It's usually crowded here.
So you may have to wait. But the taste of food here is worth the wait.
Ambience is of a small hotel.

Hotel Malvan Samudra is very easy to miss in the crowded lanes of Lower Parel. But once you’ve tried out the place, you will want to keep coming back for more.

My colleagues and I tried out this place on a Friday afternoon, and not surprisingly it was crowded. The joint is small and can border on claustrophobic for some. But what it lacks in space and ambience, Malvan Samudra makes up with its food.

Menu variety isn’t the best, but you should only go there to have authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. Highly recommended is Surmai fry thali, which is more than sufficient for one person. Also worth trying out are kombdi vade, and prawns Koliwada.

My only complaint about this place is that it is a tad expensive for this particular kind of setup. You almost feel like you are paying Rs 50-60 more than what is ideal.

Still if you crave good Maharashtrian food, this one’s a must try.

Value for money 💰✓ Great on taste ✓ Worth a revisit ✓ Good portion size ✓ Maintained hygiene ✓ Friendly staff ✓ Lite on pocket ✓ Parking × Tables availability ✓ Visited this restaurant at Lower Parel after checking the Google recommendations and it was WORTH IT ! What we had : Bombil Thali - 200₹ - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chicken liver Thali - 250₹ - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Must try ! Wade - ⭐⭐⭐ - Can be improved. The chicken liver masala was the creamiest and juiciest I have ever had. Spice quotient was on the spot. Bombil was crispy on the crust and wet inside. Best feeling. Visit with family !

We visited this place on Google recommendation and it was worth it. We ordered surmai and pomplet thali. It was delicious and felt like home cooked meal. The surmai in thali was little stale, but the owner promptly changed the fish on bringing to their notice. Quiet affordable too as compared to portion sizes. Won't rate high on ambience but basic hygiene is maintained. Taste was excellent. Mut visit if you are looking out for typical malvani sea food.

The place is located near Lower Parel Monorail Station. It's a nice and small place to sit and enjoy seafood and other non veg food items. I frequently visit here with my office colleagues for some good lunch or dinner which tastes and gives you the feel of home cooked food. Our favourite picks are Bombil fry also known as Bombay Duck, Prawns Fry, Surmai also known as Indo-Pacific King Mackerel and Kombdi Biryani which is Chicken Biryani. The staff is always on the move and serving to the best of their capabilities. The hotel owner is a calm and good person. The ambience is somewhat that of a typical indian resturant. Must visit to try out sea food and enjoy it with a chilled glass of Solkadi(Konkani Kokum Drink).

Prawn Koliwada is a spicy, deep fried prawn preparation which is a popular starter served in restaurants. The story goes that this recipe actually originated in Sion Koliwada (fisherman’s village) in Mumbai by a North Indian immigrant from Punjab. These deep fried and crunchy prawns are recognized by their signature red/orange color. Prawn Koliwada tastes delicious and is excellent as an appetizer. It is a perfect accompaniment with cocktails or a cold beer. You can adjust the spices (especially the chilli powder) to suit your palate. The freshness of the prawns makes a world of difference to the taste and flavor of the fried prawns. These spicy, deep fried prawns are highly addictive! If you are calorie conscious, you can just broil/grill them in the oven; but they taste best when they are deep fried! If you are planning a week end get together or a celebration party, Prawn Koliwada would be ideal to serve and I’m sure your guests and family will relish them. If you have regularly enjoyed them at your favorite restaurant all this while, it is time you try it out in your very own kitchen and make simple home cooking special… Ingredients : 15 Fresh Prawns/Shrimps First Marinade : 1 tsp. fresh Garlic paste 1 tsp. fresh Ginger paste ½ tbsp. Kashmiri Chilli pwd. 1 tsp. Coriander pwd. 1 tbsp. fresh Lime/Lemon Juice Salt to taste Second Marinade : 1 ½ tbsps. Chickpea Flour (Besan) 1 tsp. All Purpose Flour (Maida) ½ tbsp. Kashmiri Chilli pwd. 1 tsp. Curds/Yoghurt (thick) ½ tbsp. Lime/Lemon Juice 1 tsp. Refined Oil Oil for deep frying 1 tsp. Chaat Masala for sprinkling Procedure : Peel and devein the prawns; wash well and pat dry. In a bowl, combine the ingredients for the first marinade. Marinate the prawns in this mixture for about 30 mins. Next, whisk the ingredients for the second marinade in a bowl. Squeeze out the excess liquid and then add the prawns to the prepared second marinade. Mix the prawns well in this spice-curd mixture. When you are ready to serve/eat… Heat a kadhai/wok with sufficient oil for deep frying, till hot. To test, first fry one prawn to make sure that the oil is hot enough to deep fry. Remember to maintain the temperature of the oil at medium hot. Deep fry marinated prawns in small batches in hot oil. Fry till the prawns turn a nice golden color, evenly on both sides. Drain the fried prawns completely with a slotted spoon and transfer on to absorbent tissue paper. Arrange the Prawn Koliwada on a serving plate lined with absorbent tissue. Sprinkle chaat masala on top of the Prawn Koliwada. Serve hot with your favorite green chutney/sauce/ketchup/dip. Enjoy your Prawn Koliwada!

Koliwada and other fish dishes are uber popular and quite insta-worthy. They also offer variety of fishes, so you have a lot to choose from. Then of course, you can finish off the meal with a glass of refreshing Sol Kadi.
