Review Hotel Mylari - Mysuru (Mysore)

Jithin
Vinayaka Mylari Restaurant in Mysore offers delicious food, with soft idly and butter dosa being standout highlights. The reasonable prices make it a tempting stop. However, the place is quite congested, requiring a wait outside for entry, and finding parking can be challenging. Despite these minor inconveniences, the restaurant's long-standing presence since 1938 attests to its enduring popularity. It's a worthwhile choice if you happen to be passing through the area, especially for the delightful flavors of their iconic idly and dosa.

Great news Mysoreans-Mylarians Old original Vinayaka Mylari hotel since 1938, is now available also in a new modern premise just 2 buildings away from previous one so more people being served in fresh new feel and the very same menu Mylari Masal dosai Mylari plain Dosai Idli Coffee They are expanding to JP nagar, indiranagar etc and need premises. Interested people contact They have 3 car parking, however, the road is so busy, and boxing is quite common. Personally i am not fan of too much of cinnamon in their dosai. But superlative chutney, non stop refills. Even with additional premise, getting seats is tough. I loved idli too We thought new hotel dosai was little dark, but after visiting old place and confirming it is common to see few have both sides white, few are darker brown or blackish brown based on where in the dosa-counter they are placed All must visit this tradition of Mysore ASAP

Very Very unique soft and crispy dosae.. we can alongside with their butter, it's heaven.. Combination to coconut chutney gives an additional flavor to it... Very lite on stomach..

Restaurant serving since 1938. Dosa and idlis are the highlights here. I really liked dosa because of its texture and taste. It is a great place for breakfast and not other meals because of the portion size and also it won't be that filling. You don't get many options for the food. Even filter coffee was okayish. Overall I personally felt an overrated restaurant hyped majorly. Since this restaurant has seen decades, its worth going once to enjoy the vibe.

This is one of the authentic dosa place on the road of Mysore. The butter on the top makes it taste so delicious. The texture is very crispy. I have never had this kind of tasty dosa in my life. It is always very crowded for its exquisite taste. The price is very nominal. One dosa lover must visit this place. This is almost a historical place as it’s established almost 50 years ago and still exists potentially serving one of the most famous dosa.

Mylari Dosa is one of the most famous hotels in Mysore, established in 1938 in the Agrahara area near Nazarabad Police station. Famous for its dosas. They have a price tag of Rs.55 per dosa. You can have a variety of doasas. Recently a new branch has been opened adjacent to the old shop. A must visit to all dosa lovers who visit Mysore.

Imagine a dosa. Now imagine a pile of soft dosas. Now imagine the softest dosas to ever exist served with a big dollop of white butter on top. I'm talking about the Mylari Dosa, Mysores favourite dish found in a humble restaurant. Hotel Vinayak Mylari, despite its name, is anything but. Rather, it is a cosy six-table eatery with a total of up to five items on its menu. Let that not underwhelm you, because each of these dishes is packed with a punch. This includes the Mylari dosa, Masala Dosa and idli (with no sambhar) and if one isn&rsquot in luck, are often sold out by evening

This was my second visit to this place. I had been to this place years ago with friends. The place still looks the same but the crowd has increased a lot. As I went in the early morning I could get a seat. Staffs are so friendly and they try all their best to make service faster despite of the crowd. Their dosa is definitely a must try. I appreciate the people to maintain the place with the authenticity not changing anything even after so much fame. That’s what make this place so special. People says the place is overhyped just because the place is crowded and not a luxury one. Those people are just meant to go to cosy place and eat fancy foods. If you are a foodie then just ignore those reviews or comments and go eat some dosas there.

One of the most unique dosEs. Fluffy and soft like a cloud. I have visited this place a few times over the last 5-6 years. Every single time, the taste has been the same and it has been consistently excellent. They have a few other items on the menu as well but the mylari dosE is their signature and is one of the unique offerings in the country. It comes with chutney, sagu and a dollop of butter. A must try if you're in Mysuru!

It's one of the best Bene Madala Dose available in Mysore. Dosa here has a different texture - combination of crispy and spongy. They don't serve alodage palya, infact they have onion palaya which gives an extra flavour to it. Overall loved the place.

Being one of thr cult places for dosa it will definitely not dosa you with the unique dosa . The dosa look, taste and Serving is very down to earth.. the lady serving that day for us was offering the dosa like we were her personal guests .. kudos to the attempt to make you feel at home.. we went there quite late in the noon still had to wait as thr seating capacity of the place is very small ( which we knew) The sagu and chutney combination for the dosa is very tasty and I recommend all dosa fans to give it a try.

Both Butter Masala and Plain Dosa taste Stupendous with coconut chutney. The soft dosa with butter on it gives different vibes. Kahsi Halwa: must try when u visit here (not too much sweetness but it makes a perfect blend with floating ghee) Reasonably priced - Worth a visit for having yummy butter dosas. At last, never forget to sip a filtered coffee before u leave

We visited right around closing time. But owner cooperated since we already called ahead. But the waiters and workers looked like they were working under pressure since it was late for them. Anyhow the special dosa from this place that everyone were eagerly waiting to eat was reasonably good. Can’t say it was extremely good. Texture was ok but not crispy. But the dosas were soft and coconut chutney served was fresh. Their special sweet was good. Restaurant seating area can be improved and alternate parking for customers needs to be provided since it’s located on a narrow road in the middle of a busy market area.
Pabitra
The original and authentic mysore dosa. The staff is very friendly. They serve in traditional way with banana leaf. The dosa is very soft and fluffy. They serve with one scoop of pure homemade Makhan. The cutney is awsome. All the traveller's who comes to Mysore must pay a visit here and taste the aurhentic mysore dosa here.

Mylari Dosa one of the best dosa to try in Mysore.. It is very difficult to identify the original one because there are many in the street.. Finally with having a word with local folks I went there and tried Dosa which was very crispy with a piece of butter.. Chatni was not up to the mark but the Potato porridge inside the dose was good.
SOUMYA PRAKASH SASMAL
This eatery serves incredibly soft and buttery dosa, accompanied by white coconut chutney and green gravy. It specializes in dosa and idli dishes exclusively. Expect crowds during weekends and holidays. The staff is notably polite and considerate. While highly recommended, note that this restaurant is the only branch and is surrounded by numerous self-proclaimed original Mylari restaurants. Payments can be made via UPI or card or Cash.

Amazing place, great food, very good service. You will be in and out of this place in under 45 mins. They only serve idly and dosa. They have nailed the recipe I believe. Sagu masala is really good and idly is soft and very very delicious. Try their Kashi halwa and thank me later. It’s a must try if you are around Mysore. You’ll like the 1900s ambience for sure.

Little crowdy during dasra time but it's so NYC...!! Must visited if u are a food love. Try benne dosa . Price -50/- per piece

Dish 1 : Mylari benne dose
Taste : 3/5
Dish 2 : Filter coffee
Taste : 2.5 /5
Ambience : 2/5
Service : 3/5
Value for money : 3/5
.
.
Been visiting this place since years.... But the taste has drastically changed.... From superb to average... U can find crowd only for the hype i guess.... The taste has a lot more difference the dosas just tasted average and the coffee too was just watery.... N coming to ambience its always crowded and noisy... Service was quick... But ok for the price i feel...not that great 😕

Went on foodie spree to try out this much hyped Masala dosa of Mylari. Not to be surprised, had to wait in the queue not knowing how long the wait would be. As all of us were desperate for food after an early start. Fortunately we didn't have to wait long. Basic infrastructure, we tried the Masala dosa. I should definitely credit the crunchy outer and soft inner dosa with a different type of filling. The coconut chutney was good. Ofcourse wrapped up with the aromatic coffee. Sure a try for a foodie.

The softest and the best dosa ever. This place was small but the stuff was just too good. The dosa with a dash of home butter and a very different kind of vegetables stuffing was just amazing. The idlis were super soft with the most flavour some coconut chutney. Early morning surprise breakfast in Mysuru.
Sangavi Ashokkumar
Place is simply hyped up. Flavours aren't really appreciable. We ordered Masala dosa which was just coconut filling and not potato served with bland coconut chutney.
There is not proper queue system to let customer in as per seating availability. Service and food is bad.
Tejaswin Shashi
Probably the best place to have breakfast in Mysore. Had Sagu masala dose with butter and its one of the best I’ve tasted. The idlis, served with butter and chutney was one of the best. The idlis itself were as soft and smooth as butter. Service was good and no doubt this has been one of the best in Mysore
Bheemesh Nayak
I order masala Dosa the send this one and take 45 rupees worst Mylar bad don't do like that nonsense this is masala dosa in your hotel worst
Bhavik Kothari
Been there today 05/06 considering the hype on social media about the place. They have only 2 varieties of dosa (plain and masala both priced at 40) their regular masala dosa has a coconut and onion filling which is a shame to be called a masala filling. When I asked about their Sagoo dosa thy did have one but took long to be patient enough so finally decided to pay the amount and leave. Overall, I don’t see a typical reason to try the dosas here which seem more like soft uttappam and wouldn’t recommend for a visit

The yummiest dosa I had in Mysore.... This place is recommended both for the residents of Mysore and also for those who are travelling via Mysore to diff place... This budget friendly outlet serves hot crispy dosas with chutney. The must try thing here is their Masala Dosa.... #dosa #foodie
Saifudheen Akbar
I have order 2 masala dosa and 2 plain dosa
But 4 plain dosa only and bad chutney.....poooorr restaurant

Please don't order anything from this hotel
Really disheartening to go here, we traveled a long way to reach after looking at rate. Firstly these two mylari are confusing, second only two dosa type with weird stuffing in the name of masala. Plus ambience is really sad, specially if you are with family. I would urge you to skip unless you are crossing in front of it and wna have a quick snack.
Akhil
I felt this place was over hyped by the reviews but trust me this is the best place to have masala dosa when you’re in South India.

They have only one item in the menu which shows their confidence in serving the best.It cost 45₹ with butter on it and the soft dosa with spicy masala in it.

If you’re in mysore, this is one of those places to visit after mysore palace
Kvsridhar.murthy
Not worth for money . Exharbidant rate. Very poor quality. Paying 25 bugs for 2 tablet idly is waste of money. No doubt taste is good but doesn’t meant charge heavily.
Harshitha.somanath
Very simple hotel and the service is very quick the butter dosa served is so tasty was able to eat back to back three dosa”s. Very economical. 👍👍
I was here on dasara season and we'll I was pretty impressed by the dosa they served, I will be happy to visit this place again when I come again to Mysore.
It's a small place. That authentic feeling of the place feels good old days of the place.
Peace

If you want a very unique and different taste from the dosas you have had before , then this is the place.

Order the masala dosas which come with a sort of green palya with onions instead of the traditional aloo palya

The food is mild ( not in a bad way and pleasant - comfort food )

Coffee is strong and with good flavour with just the right mixture.

5 dosas and a coffee came to 210rs

Ambiance was must to be desired but trust me that you will overlook it completely with the soft melt in your mouth dosas

Overall would definitely go again

Very bad....me and my mom was disappointed with ur delivery. We didn't get the order which we have ordered.

Was looking for authentic Mysore Dosa ans able to google this place. We found this place with great difficulty though it is in city.Very small place and home made dosa available .Authentic food lovers should explore this place

The absolute best place to have Benne Dosa. Steeped in tradition, no visit to Mysore is complete without tasting the Dosas from this iconic joint.
The place is simple with basic interiors and a menu consisting of idli, dosa and coffee and no other variety.
The dosas are light, buttery and fluffy and you can't stop at one. The more liquid than usual saagu goes delightfully well and is a refreshing change from the usual. The chutney is aromatic and fresh.
The service is prompt and has a very homely vibe. It opens and closes at fixed times in the morning and afternoon, so get a seat early before they run out and they usually do. Don't go expecting much except the taste which leaves you wanting more.
To sum up, breakfast can't get better than this.

Bon Appétit.

We visited Mysore this Dushera, and people suggested this place. We waited for almost half an hour in the que, but the food was definitely worth every bite! This is a 70 year old hotel present on one of the small lanes in the city. But don't you go by the look outside. The benne dosas were crisp, with mixed vegetable curry inside with the butter on them and the idlis were soft and hot. These for items went perfectly with the chutney. I would've preferred potato curry though with the dosa. Nevertheless, it's a nice reasonable place for breakfast!
Pinky Gaikwad
A one of a type dosa which you will only find it here!! They have been running this hotel since 1948 I guess!! Love the soft spongy dosa and even the masala they stuff inside the dosa is very different!! Go just for the food!!

Ambience : 3/5
Food : 5/5
Value for money : 5/5

Its a legendary dosa place serving Mysuru since 1948 it does sagu masala dosa topped with butter its amazing crispy outside and soft inside, they serve pure coconut chutney and best sagu... must try place in mysore

The name Mylari is quiet famous in mysore.. Visitors visit this place just bcoz its popular on social media..

I am not sure why this restaurant is so popular.. I understand it's one of the oldest hotels but definitely doesn't meet the hype that social media has created..

They serve only dosa and idli.. Dosa is 40Rs, the size of dosa is very small, size of a single set dosa.. People who come here like their coconut chutney.. Mylari at agrahara serves the same dosa for 30Rs and belive me this dosa wouldn't fill anybodys stomach.. They charge 40Rs for a plate of idli (3 nos).. Idli served to us was salty..

Place is very small and one might need to wait outside the hotel before being served.. Parking space is also not there..

Hotel mylari, hotel hanumantu are few of the hotels that serve very ordinary food but people visit here bcoz of the hype social media has created.. I would still prefer having dosa at GTR or dosa point@Devraj urs road, when compared to mylari..

Best and most unique dosas, this place is a must visit. Extremely tasty dosas and awesome chutneys.. haven’t had anything like this before. Just make sure you visit the original Mylari and not the new Mylari on the same road..
Kamlesh Jobanputra
One of the better Mylari joints in the city. I went to Vinayaka Mylari as well but the stuffing of the masala dosa at this place was much better - little bit on the spicy side to my liking. This place is defiantly a must visit if you are in Mysore.
Kevin Garnet
Oh yes the dosa is legendary! It is one of the hyped place in mysuru. We visited this place on a sunday morning and it was quite crowded.
Dosa was just normal like anyother, only the filling inside and chutney made the difference. It was a good try for us here after hearing a lot about this👍🏿

Visiting ths place since frm my childhood and i love dosa served here. .i agree the place is congested but d taste of dosa makes worth d visit. .now per dosa it would cost around 40 rps and a normal person would eat atleast 2 to 3 for sure. .per idli its around 10 rps n i'm nt great fan of idli served here but dosas are yummm. . .i definetly recommened u to visit ths place. .

This place has a huge heritage and mysoreans have heard a lot about this. There r five different outlets in Mysore under this banner and I believe each one offers different type of delicious dosa.
I went to this place for an evening dosa. Attached is the pic of benne saagu maasala dosa. Dosa size is not too big. Chutney and saagu was good but a teaspoon of butter on too.
I will not rate this place on ambience because u cannot expect it here. I did not get a 'must have' feeling when I had the dosa. So maybe I need to visit different places to understand the best mylari outlet in Mysore.
Thindipotha
Visited this place after a very long time. I must say that Dosa with Sagu & Chutney on a plantain leaf....has not changed over time. The dosa is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.....Typical home made style. The idlis are not the Karnataka style.... nothing great about it. The hotel offers only plain, masala dosa and idly. The seating space is very less and congested. But that's the price you pay for great food.... Must try. The hotel team is very cordial and serve with a smile.
Surya
One of the best places in Mysore for dosas... we had been here with family and friends . Everyone liked the dosas. Even idlis are good. Not heavy on pocket. Place is too congested and too crowded.
Bhargavi Shamuk
Ambiance - A really small place that is very popular for it's crispy masala dosas and soft idlis. Usually crowded. Expect waiting.
Taste - Though the dosa and idlis were tasty, they surely weren't the best I've eaten.
The dosa was really a mini dosa. You need to eat a minimum of two for a filling breakfast.

It was disappointing as I had driven all the way to Mysore just to taste these dishes on a weekend. Guess it's a common problem with all the popular places.
Hungry Panda
A small and traditional eatery near by the maharaja palace. Serves Idly and Dosa only for the breakfast along with chutney & potato saagu (no sambar). Average taste. Not as expected.
RAHUL SHARATH
A small shop in the lanes of Mysore. Amazing dosa, the specialty of the dosa is that they put the sagu inside the dosa and top it up with pure butter. Its served along with coconut chutney. You get nothing but dosa. And it's just one type of Dosa which is masala dosa with sagu inside it and with out the traditional red chutney. This is actually the original Mylari hotel. A plate of Dosa costs Rs40/-

Ambience: 3.5/5
Taste: 4.5/5
Value for money: 4/5
DEVRAJ SONI
This place is bit conjusted but they serve only plain dosa and masala dosa and if you visit mysore this place is definitely not the one to be missed ,loved it❤️
Bharath Gopinath
Famous for dosa they make in Mysore . Many ppl come here from far off to eat the dosa . The dosa r mouth smacking, crispy , and perfect ....But for the que and cleanliness you must adjust a little bit....
LiveLoveEat
I had the dosa and coffee here. I have had in the other vinayaka mylari down the road before. Though the preparation is similar, the taste and texture is definitely not as good. Give this one a miss. Go to vinayaka mylari instead.
Chef BB (Bibhuti)
Who can say no to this legandary outlet. You can't count it in restaurant because it's there from last 60+ years. It's connected with the emotions of foodies. They serve spongy dosa with butter and Coconut chutney. This kind of dosas you can't find anywhere else.
Must try.

Bon Appetite Chef BB
VNY
Certainly lived up to the hype! Loved the dosas as much as the praise I’ve heard of the place. Hogged 4 of them happily! Trip to Mysore well worth this alone :)
Keerthan Mk
Dosa is crispy and very tasty , it is a very old place but it’s a must try place , idly at this place is very soft and smooth..............!
Shreyas S
Taste of mysore. One of the oldest hotels in mysore. Serves really yummy dosa. Mylari dosa is special in its own way. Who ever visits mysore, must try hotel.
Savi Basavaraj
This is a simple, no-nonsense place serving only dosa with chutney. With or without masala ( which is a vegetable saagu, not the usual spiced potato mix)
The saagu is an acquired taste.
But the Dosa.... DAMN!
Melt in your mouth, buttery pancakes of heaven!
The chutney is good too. I preferred the plain dosa, which is crispy, yet melt in your mouth.
At first glance it may seem to be unhygienic, but it is absolutely not. It is simple and anachronistic ... A time machine transporting you back to the 50s.
Be prepared to wolf down multiple servings, and end your meal with their filter coffee. Yum!
Meghana
Just can't explain how good the food is here, everyone has to just hit this place and eat everything on the menu(which is limited) I'm a Bangalorean..but I don't miss a single chance to go to this place when we visit Mysore or somethings we have gone into the Mysore city (on our way to Ooty and Coorg ) just to have this lip smacking dosas😋
Jyotsna Tripathi
Tiny place with just one dish to serve, no ambiance, dosa also without sambhar, I don't understand why this place is rated so high, water served was not clean.
