Tegu Mess as the name suggest is a mess that serves some lip smacking Maratha Cuisine. The restaurant is pretty small with steel tables and chairs, so the ambience is out of the question here. However, the food is amazing and to die for!
If you are a spice lover you will love the dishes here, although they are famous for their pepper chicken chops & mutton chops. I am more fond of their chilli chicken chops, like I said, it’s tear up spicy, the chilli chicken chops and their fluffy Idly are match made in heaven, just divine. Many of their customers love to pair their spicy gravies with their ghee rice too, however my favourite combo from here is the Idly with the Chilli Chicken Chops.
The restaurant opens as early as 6 AM to serve these non veg delicacies, if you are hear in the morning, don’t forget to ask for their complimentary leg soup, it’s super refreshing and rich.
Overall the food experience here is one of the best you can get in Mysore, just amazing stuff!

Tegu’s Mess is one of the restaurant that serves authentic Kannada cuisine such as Ragi Muddhe and Mutton Saaru (Curry). Due to its high levels of protein and iron, this is considered to be a heavy but healthy meal. The curries are spicy and thick and have a generous portion of meat. The flavour of the meat is blended with the spices that make almost all the ingredients important for cooking. Other well-known combinations are Neer Dosa, Idlis and Ghee rice with your choice of curries.

If you're looking for a place with old-school Ragi muude and chicken kurma then this is it. Note that this place is always crowded so better order via app or take parcel
The quality of food is very good, hands down one of the best and old places in Mysore

What an amazing place to satisfy your morning non veg cravings. This restaurant changed my perception towards Paya soup I always thought that paya soup will have lil bit of gaminess but here not even sign of that. We ordered Paya soup with idli and as side mutton and chicken. I must say chicken has different flavour due to capsicum and mutton was on different level it was so soft that u don’t need chew or put effort in separating meat from bones. In a single word place this place awesome .

Sunday better go before 7 am for Paya soup 🍜

This is not a fancy place - looks like a small family run eatery ... but when it comes to their curries, there is no match.. Went for breakfast and ordered dosa, idly with a chicken dish, a mutton dish, a fish dish ... Had gone there for breakfast... this one is surely one of the most delicious desi non veg breakfast I had in recent times ..

Aaahh Tegu mess!! It's one of those places that's been there as long as you can remember. Best place to eat breakfast when you're hungover. The Idlis with chicken would be your first thing to try here. The chicken gravy though oily has an authentic taste that's not changed over years. Kaal(leg) Soup is moderate. Mutton chops is the winner as its cooked exactly to the point. When it's comes to lunch. The place is packed as they have a small place. Wait for 5 mins. Don't go with a huge group. Asked for mixed meals if you're a confused soul. The owner is a down to earth simple guy and will have a good conversation with you. Overall best authentic food. Period.

One of the best joint for Nati style nonveg food dishes, it is one the mess run by their family.. it may look like a small cozy place but nothing can be compromised with their food taste. Taste - 5/5, ambiance 5/5, worth for money - 5/5, quantity 5/5,quality 4/5. Its famous for kal soup, koli sar, mutton and chicken gravy with bisi bisi idli and dosa(until 11.30 in the morning) . chicken, mutton and fish meals are amazing.. rice is unlimited.. meal contains - Ragi mudde, mutton and chicken gravy, ghee rice, chicken or mutton or fish curry, plain rice, rasam, curd, butter milk..

Visited Tegu mess. I guess I was early for lunch. Mudde wasn't ready. Though I wanted to wait, the waiter coerced me not to wait. Tried ghee rice with chicken as per the waiter's suggestion. Tasted good. Surprisingly the quantity of ghee rice felt less even for a light eater like me. Prices were on the higher side.

Its a specific Nonveg Mess, quantity served is sufficient for one person. So price also looks less, we went for dinner , dishes was very limited for dinner was disappointed, for lunch options are more, taste wise i cont tell its yummy, its ok ok type. So if u r planning to visit this mess then lunch will be better option than dinner.

We went there on a Sunday for lunch at noon. The place is located on a first floor. The ambience is very unassuming and homely. There are long tables with chairs. Pictures of gods, celebrities on the walls. The kitchen is visible and kept clean. The lunch menu was just about ready and we could get all the delicious smells to work up our appetite. The owner himself was sitting and having lunch when we arrived. He understood that we weren’t regular customers and was extremely helpful in getting us seated, explaining the menu, interpreting our requests to staff and overall making us feel comfortable. It is a non veg special mess and vegetarian’s won’t find much (in fact anything) to eat here. The food started rolling out. We started with pepper chicken and idly, then beer dosa, mutton chops, chilli chicken. Finally ending with ghee rice, rassam and curd. They also served extra gravy of chicken and mutton in bowls. Everything was delicious and had unique flavours. The curries were light and flavourful. Pepper chicken had a nice mild heat from the black pepper that warms the throat. The chilli chicken is Maratha style and is nicely spicy. Mutton chops were tender. The rassam and curd helped washing everything down. The owner made sure that we were taken care of, he kept the curry pots on our table for us help ourselves as much as we want. Slowly the place started getting filled with local and regular people. There were a few people who got tiffins and containers with them to take parcel home. They also had mutton meatballs on the menu but they weren’t ready by the time we were done, May be next time. They have specials frequently and use a variety of cuts. The bill was very reasonable for the amount and quality of food we had. The owner was very polite and kind. He didn’t even charge for curd, rassam etc. We have our compliments to him and the kitchen staff and left planning our next visit when we will be Mysuru again.

Known to be one of the most recommended places to try Karnataka-style chicken and mutton meals, I tried their "Thatte idli, Shavige" along with pepper chicken and chili chicken. The idli was incredibly soft and complemented the chicken gravy perfectly. Unlike the usual idli with a slightly sour taste, this one was plain, allowing it to effortlessly blend with the curry. Trying this combination for the first time, I found it delightful. The ottu shavige, which are essentially steamed rice noodles, were also exceptionally tender. We arrived for breakfast around 10:30, but unfortunately, the Dosa had sold out by then. They offer mutton options including "thale mamsa" and "botti" (intestine). However, their seating capacity is very limited and quite congested, with tables and steel stools arranged in three rows. Due to the confined space, it can feel quite crowded.

The way up the restaurant through the compact stairs is messy but it's a 42 year old premise where Dadi's secret recipe boils and cooks and the result is just fab - authentic spices and a taste that you would not be keen to relate with any other restaurant. If you are a non veg lover you would not like to miss this place when in Mysore.
