If you like south Indian cuisine, without the fancy part, this the place. Can eat a dosa/idli from this place daily.
It was my first time and I felt love with this truly amazing super clean , tasty and mostly a peaceful place to have one of best south indian food specially chutneys and gravy's served were truly appreciatable.
Pocket friendly, authentic and one if the oldest...
Don't expect much ambiance but yes you will get taste of south here.

This is one of the most authentic taste South Indian snacks in nagpur since more than 30 years I hv seen consistently . The hygiene and interiors are ordinary and can be improved but the preparation is awesome !!! All items are very good ππππ
Iconic, unpretentious South Indian restaurant of Nagpur. Have been going here for soul satisfying South Indian food for over 15 years since college days. The taste remains the same although the humble interiors have received an update.
Opens early in the morning for all day South Indian breakfast. Traditional rice thalis available for lunch. Affordable prices and quick service. Idlis are always spongy and Dosa and Uttapam are made to perfection. Their filter coffee is excellent and not to be missed.
Also try their Idli and Vada sambhar or yummy samosas to pack for an early morning picnic trip. We also stop here for breakfast when leaving for early morning long road trips. The food never disappoints!

Taste: Nair's South Indian Restaurant and Mess has been around for quite a few decades now..It is one of the oldest and most authentic restaurants for South Indian snacks Nagpur boasts off.. I have been a regular here almost all my life, They serve such good Masala Dosa, Onion Uttapam and Kantha Vada that you are sure to lick your fingers..π Their sambhar and chutney taste too authentic to be digested well by Nagpurians but still I like the raw earthiness of it.. For people with sweet cravings Nair's has one of the best Sheera in city..π They even serve a fabulous Rice Plate as a meal in late afternoon..
Service: The owners are so sweet, they make it a point to themselves come and talk to you every time you go there.. Service is extremely fast and even Dosas, Uttapams are prepared in no time..π
Ambience: Extremely simple, this place hasn't changed with time, once you step inside it feels that you have come 20-30 years back in time.. It's a very humble place to be at..βΊοΈ

Recommended to every food lover .Β "We often think that South India is only about Idly, Wada, and Dosa, and fail to admire the rich culinary traditions of the south. I am always in the lookout for ethnic food from the south. I was happy to get a call from the old friend Shiva Nair that South India Mess is now serving Puttu and Idiyappam. Puttu, a Kerala dish is made of steamed cylinders of ground rice layered with coconut. Idiyappam is made of rice-flour pressed into sevai or noodles. Both were served with kadala curry, Kerala style curry made out of kala chana. Both dishes were out of the world. Those of you don't know South India Mess, it is located at Dharampeth (Behind the building which was once coffee house) Shiva Nair, his father and his wife personally supervise everything. I have been visiting the place for 35 years!! Shiva told me that Puttu and Idiyappam are now being served daily after 9 am. Do try, and gulp it down with a cuppa filter coffee, and square it off with hot Sheera ( Halva)"
This is an Authentic South Indian Restaurant in Gokulpeth area....spread in a relatively small place...Idli Vada and Dosa are readily available here,,,you will not find lunch over here,..They also serve great filter coffee.....

Pittu, upma , iddli , sheera made in pure ghee, and filter coffee (kapi ) i love to say it all dishes truly try worth do visit this place π

Less Gimmick and more taste.
Excellent Filter Coffee. The place has a warm feeling, it feels like stepping into the history. The owner is genuinely nice and the overall experience has an old world charm to it, thanks to his hospitality. Compare that with the indifferent useless guy who sits at the counter of Gokul Vrindavan next door and you will realize how rare it is get a good service in this part of the world.
Good Place, with Good Food. But struggling to meet its expenses. I have a lot of Sweet memories of that place of quite a few years back. Request all who were associated with that mess in the past to kindly revisit and help keep that place alive in this hard time.
