Review Baoshuan - New Delhi

sm
Overall it was a good dining experience with family. The service was great and staff recommended different dishes for family (which we picked). One star less as the food left us wanting for a bit more flavour and freshness. If the restaurant is associating themselves to be Michelin inspired, then the food quality and flavours need to be extraordinarily unique as well.

Fantastic ambiance for a great dining experience! Staff are very courteous. The dishes are very nicely served . Chef gives attention of minute details on food . All in all an amazing place to dine

After a couple of drinks at the Cirrus, we decided to have dinner at the Baoshuan. The food was excellent. Lamb in pepper sauce was a discovery! Perfectly cooked in a robust sauce with melt in mouth softness. Slow cooked chicken also kept the gastronomic journey on the high. In keeping with our Indian tradition, we rounded off the dinner with ice cream. We left with a promise of repeating this experience.....

Amazingly high quality food and delightful service from Cem, our pancake in chief. The duck pancakes are stunning, very very highly recommended! In addition to this, we had the belly pork which was simply delicious. Great service and knowledgeable staff, you can’t go wrong!

Recently stayed at the Oberoi Hotel in Delhi & decided to eat onsite at Baoshaun as we were tired & didn’t want to go out. It was the best decision! This restaurant was a gem…..so much so that we ate there again on our return to Delhi before flying home. First time we decided to have the tasting menu. OMG….I could believe the amount of food that was served. Every item was delicious & it was amazing value for money for the quality. On our return trip we ordered off the menu & the Peking duck was a highlight…..chefs kiss! Both times we ordered the cocktail that came in the teapot….so unique & it went really well with the food. The service was impeccable & nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The best tasting dimsums and Chinese cuisine, all served in excellent ambience. We came here to have some exquisite Chinese cuisine and were not disappointed. We had ordered the unlimited set lunches with alcohol. The dimsums (starters) were served hot and they kept coming in a steady stream, various different types of dimsums both veg and non veg, chicken and pork etc, all these were excellent. The main course options are many and we selected one veg and non veg dishes. The choice of alcohol varies from beer to wine, including whisky. We settled for Gin and tonic for the starters and white wine for the main. The dessert comprised of ice creams. The staff are very attentive and particularly helpful, and have good knowledge. They also suggest suitable alcohol choices to complement the food We will be definitely coming here for another round of lunch. Our overall experience was excellent

I had a wonderful dinner in this beautiful restaurant. Friend of mine took me there to celebrate my first visit to India! It was a full on experience. The food was magical, perfectly match wine and absolutely amazing staff. Please have a quick look below.

The ambiance is perfect as the restaurant. It feels like you are sitting and dining in the area which is surrounded with nature. The room is also good and clean.

I visited Baoshuan with my family for the much acclaimed Michelin Star Chef’s designed culinary experience and I left the place completely underwhelmed. All items where so dry- lamb chops were fried and dry, ribs were dry and too sweet, even the steamed fish was as DRY as the Sahara Dessert!! I expected 5star service in Oberoi and that was as dry as the food. The only good tasting item was the prawn dumplings. But then I had visited Baoshuan for a scrumptious experience and not just good tasting food. I have posted the pics of all the food items.

The cutlery set cover had a broken button and the fork was bent - I am okay with such an oversight in a neighborhood mom&pop joint but not The Oberoi, New Delhi. The Chinese Food experience in The Oberoi, Bangalore was so much more delightful! I hope either The Oberoi would tone down the experience they promise to deliver or else notch up their game in 2020.

Big downgrade from tai pan.

This is my second time at Baoshuan and I am impressed with their food. Everything we had was on point, tastes and textures were very good. The dim-sum was well presented and made - one could make out from the detail in the wrap. The service was phenomenal and noteworthy is the manager who quickly arranged a cake for one of us who’s birthday it was. He understood it needed to be a surprise and was delicate about the situation.
The one thing that I did feel was the lack of innovation in the food. One couldn’t close their eyes and say that they hadn’t tasted the flavours before. In this era of competition and innovation one needs to bring out something in their food that stands apart for good reason. circle of friends on golf course road serves the same food at one tenth the price. Given that the cutlery and crockery is better here, the food still has to shine.

So this was the second time I visited Baoshuan so early when I visited Mr. Rahul Gandhi (congress president)
Was having his meal with friends and second time Mr. Rajeev Shukla ( President IPL) Was having his meal so this is the place in centre of delhi with VVIPS and best part is authentic chinese with level apart presentation and services so keep it up food was yum with flavours of authentic chinese
Great Oberio hotel has maintained their vision of conceptual restaurant for the food lovers
Keep it up

I had an incredible experience. The administration was exceptionally mindful without being meddling, and guaranteed we had an essential experience.Chicken was good.Crispy noodles did not taste that good.Vegetables were served appeared as though ut was served in sweet corn soup.Though the staff was extraordinary helpful. The feeling was great with an all around planned inside space. The staff are affable and the administration is expeditious.

The sustenance is particularly great and simply like the unadulterated and heartfelt nourishment of China. The Ambience, the nourishment, the friendliness, the way of life of Oberoi is unavoidably to the Standards of the gathering of Oberoi. We request mushroom bunds only an incredible advancement ,similar to the delectable Chinese sustenance here.cheers up to gourmet expert Vaibhav soni and group baoshuan. The area and view from this territory is extremely decent.

Went here a couple of times for lunch and it was fine. Nothing great but may go back. Desserts are limited but what we had ( bananas and all in a chocolate dome) was good.

I went for dinner with great expectations but it did not stand upto the mark.
I ordered dimsum with egg though it was nice innovative idea but eggs kept breaking I couldn’t hold them in the fork they should have been more thick.
Schezwan chicken was good
Crispy noodles did not taste that good.
Vegetables were served seemed like ut was served in sweet corn soup.
Though the staff was great helpful

I went to dinner in this restaurant with great expectations of Chinese but it did not stand to my expectations.
I odered dimsums with egg it was nice innovative idea but egg with little semi solid and it was falling from the fork they should have been little hard.
Crispy noodles were not that wao
Schezwan chicken was great.
Then was vegetables which were so bland seemed like served in soup of sweet corn.
But the staff was amazing so well dressed and courtious.

Went to Baoshuan for a quiet dinner and ended up meeting the Michelin star legend, Andrew Wong there. He was specially curating meals for everyone. We ordered their signature gin drink (which came with liquid nitrogen in a teapot) and started off with some honey lotus stems and mushroom dumplings. Both- wow. My fan girl moment happened when the chef came outside and spoke to us. Being a veggie I didn’t know how to what to order as pecking duck is their speciality. But he did his signature dishes (carrot puff and pecking duck) in a vegetarian version for us! Loved it and totally going there for an authentic Cantonese dinner again.
Shivraj Parshad
Really disappointed given the hype over A.Wong’s involvement in curating the menu. The food was below average at best - really good produce swimming in soya and gluttonous sauces. The Peking duck was not authentic - more like crispy duck - with one leg pink and undercooked - the staff graciously admitted they had to make amends. Quite honestly the argument that some dishes are tuned to local palates did not fly as even the local Golden Dragon churns out better food. We were treated to some samples from the A. Wong offerings which almost salvaged the situation but given the prices certainly not up to the standards all the publicity surrounding it.

Baoshuan: The real Chinese treasure delicacies, Smiling faces and The Oberoi hospitality.
Menu has varied options from dim sum to maincouse. It was my anniversary and well taken care by Tashi, Ajay and his teammates starting from hostess to chef.
Liked the Wild mushroom steam bun,it's taste and presentation on green grass was amazing, Shanghai chicken dumplings having with soup spoon and taste amazing.Work glazed honey lotus root was nice and crisp and Wasabi prawn skewers was the best with excellent wasabi on it.Pork ribs were amazing. For the main course liked the Peking duck London was well served the way it should be, crisp and tastes amazing.
Grilled Bekti five spiced beurre noisette I liked the most. Fish was fresh, no smell, well grilled and the sauce five spiced in butter and a touch of lime.
A special thanks to Tashi,Ajay and team to arrange a nice rose bouquet with a delicious cake🍰.

Would strongly recommend it to you all, one the best Chinese restaurant in city. Fairly priced, nice food and excellent hospitality.

On the outset, had gone in with low expectations , due to disappointing fare and service at the renovated 360. We started at the al fresco bar and the drinks were fun, potent and instaworthy. Must try the sharing cocktails. The vibe was infectious but pollution forced us in soon. We were celebrating a birthday at baoshuan. The chef Wong take in a classic was different but sweet. The baos were a stand out . The asparagus was very basic for an oberoi restaurant . The attempt at being made to feel special was well appreciate tho the service was a hit and miss . Worth a try for the drinks , view ( if the smog is not blocking ) and oberoi care.

While the service , ambience and overall experience here was good .... the food was average... we tried pretty much everything on the vegetarian menu .... miss the good old taipan

A small group of us (8) had the tasting menu which was fantastic. They are able to accommodate Chinese dishes to ensure all faiths can dine (no pork in pork dishes) and of course amazing vegetarian options.
Will be back for the Sunday Brunch.

Came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. Great experience!
Our table was reserved for us, a very pleasant hostess showed us to it.
We were served great wine & champagne and totally enjoyed the evening!
We opted for some appetizers and pekin duck for main course which was delicious! Will def recommend

This was my second visit to this place .Good food different from the normal ..it’s not equivalent to the previous restraunt which use to be hear ie. taipan .The server was very rude in saying that you can’t share the dim sums when we order a dim sum lunch even though it had fixed no . Of dimsums and was not unlimited . Since the restaurant was empty the kept pouring water again and again just to reach their target (bill of ₹600 only for water for 3 people).despite of all this the ice creams were very nice . The mushroom dimsums look nice but don’t taste nice , the prawn dimsums were very nice .

being a chinese, i.have to say the dishes are far feom being chinese,to be honest, it is the worst chinese restaurant I have ever tried in Delhi over the past three years here. and the price is ridiculous. even the desert , which is not chinese sryle, is terrible. will certainly never go again. trust me, u will regret it if u go.
I’ll keep it short and sweet. If you are a Chinese food aficionado and mediocrity doesn’t cut it for you, look no further than Baoshuan. Team Oberoi - Thank you for this wonderful addition to your repertoire. We decided to give their dimsum lunch a miss and went for A’la Carte instead. We ordered a couple of different kind of dimsums along with a portion of bao. The mains were some mushrooms with goji Berry and another very nicely done eggplant served with some chilli rice and Hakka noodles followed by a banana chocolate dessert.

If I could give a 15 out of 10 for the service, I would. While waiting for our mains the server realised they are taking longer than usual so very generously got us some dimsums - ofcourse with their compliments. Very highly recommended
Nice ambience... though I still miss Taipan a lot.. I will anyday opt for Taipan cuisine.. but this wasn’t bad too.. the soup they can make to your choice outside of the menu as well.. the Bekti main course was delicious.. and the deserts (just 2 handcrafted + the ice cream trolley) were to die for... over all a pleasant experience.... but Taipan fooooooddd..

After the team at Oberoi Hotel read my review of their Indian restaurant, Omya I was invited to try a meal at Baoshuan. I had a fantastic experience. Each dish was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked with a bouquet of subtle flavours. The service was highly attentive without being intrusive, and ensured we had a memorable experience. However, this could be because I was invited as a guest. This is a completely honest review of my experience, but do keep the above factor in mind!

The meal began with crackers of different kinds served with some lovely sauces. We ordered the “Prawn Wonton with Sweet Chilli Jam” as an appetizer, the “Moo Shu Pancake Wraps of Chilli Bean Paste, Egg and Mushroom with Peking Duck” and the “Dong Po Slow Braised Pork Belly with Pickled Ginger” for the main course. The restaurant manager Tenzing Tashi sent over a selection of dimsum that he felt best represented the restaurant. These included the “Soupy Dumpling”, the “Chicken Suimai” and the “Crab Dumpling”. For dessert, we were served the “Tea Smoked Banana, Nut Crumble, Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate” despite our full tummies!

My personal favourites were the soupy dumplings which were unusual yet delicious; the Peking duck which was the correct balance of crispy and soft textures with a delicate zest; and the fantastic dessert which was a complimentary conglomeration of flavours. Perhaps the only criticism is on the pork belly which could’ve been slightly softer in texture to elevate it to the next level.

The place is definitely pricey but the food is worth the pretty penny. I have been been meaning to write a review for some time. Ate there some time ago with friends. I think it’s just not up to the mark. Very ordinary food and quite expensive but plain decor. Food is quite ordinary. We ate a fair bit of veg and non veg stuff - none of it outstanding. The sommelier was good but then the drinks are curated by someone in the UK like an outsourced thing. Only memorable thing is a pomegranate cocktail which I would go again for. Even for the famous Oberoi view you need to step out to the balcony , from inside no view. Its not the fine dining experience you would expect from the Oberoi's. Prices are cheap for the location. I am not going back in a hurry. I have been reading that people had a good time - Good time is a matter of one's mood and company - review would be about food - ambiance - service - Ok - so service is the redeeming factor. They definitely know how to serve and that too with a smile. The Oberoi does not disappoint there.

Lovely rooftop restaurant!!! The service was impeccable. Manuel took good care of us! The soup was delicious so was the main course. Though the quantity was less according to Delhi standards.

The Ambience, the food, the hospitality, the culture of Oberoi is inevitably to the Standards of the group of Oberoi. The food is exceptionally good and just like the pure and soulful food of China. The ambience is like a restaurant in the heart of Shanghai. The hospitality is probably better than any of the restaurants in the city. Personally, the whole experience right from the entry into the restaurant to the last spoonful of the decadent dessert was just up to the mark
I enjoyed the unique twist on Chinese cuisine. One must try charsui Cheung fun and dimsum peanut bonbon , shitaken noodles having best taste with wonderful presentation.
I appreciate the staff here and the highly talented cuisine artist chuanxi sun and vaibhav Soni. The ambiance was good with a well designed interior space. The staff are polite and the service is prompt.

overall I LOVE IT

So the revamped Oberoi comes to you with the treasure ship.. "baoshuan"... It does look as ornate as you'd expect with one of the most professional, polite and polished staff to cater to you and guide your choices of you feel lost..

The treasure here not the Chinese dishes in the menu... Or the authentic ingredients brought in daily from some of the best places in the world... Or the great presentation with the vibrant colours on the plate... Or the theatrics, the drama in the presentation...

The treasure is balance... The balance between the very delicate flavours which just a little salt or vinegar or soya might destroy ... The flavours that are very distinctly discernible on the palate when you taste the food..
The balance between the soft colours that just a little heat would ruin.. The colours that tell you to dig in..
The balance between presenting an authentic Chinese dish to the Indian who has never been or probably will never be to the land of their origin..

Kudos to you for that!

Went to BaoShuan in the early days I thought the food was great - as is to be expected from any Oberoi Restaurant. The views are amazing and the service warm. I think the menu can be expanded more to bring in other authentic dishes considering Delhi people are spoilt for Choice and need a reason to come back.

If you like Indian Chinese this place is NOT FOR YOU. I repeat - if your palette is unapologetically Indian and you don’t appreciate the blander flavours of other nations, please do not go here, dislike it, and write unfair and undeserved bad reviews.
The food is exceptionally good. We ordered (from memory, it’s been 2 weeks) the crispy caramelised lamb, fried beans with minced pork, Peking duck, and the bokchoy veggies dish, plus a rice dish. The portion sizes are small and meant for individual consumption, but we nonetheless shared for variety. The duck was very good - the skin was perfect. Since it’s a shared dish, the serving size was satisfactory.
The crispy caramelised lamb was a revelation. I genuinely expected the standard (and delicious) triple fried crispy lamb, which is my Chinese food staple. Much to my surprise, however, their dish has nothing in common with that! It’s sweet like honey and the crispy outer shell is super light. Very fascinating and very delicious.
The fried beans and minced pork dish was my personal favourite. Great flavour and fun pairing in terms of combination and texture.
The mixed vegetables with bokchoy was also very good, and the rice complimented everything well.
Their dessert menu is boring. But to be fair, their main course is good enough that one doesn’t need dessert.
I would definitely recommend it and return.

There was something really missing at this place while the other restaurants at The Oberoi were packed but this place had quite a lot of tables empty.
The menu is very limited and while no one goes for VMF to this place but the servings could have been better specially the dimsums, they could increase the price and add few more pieces to the plate. Also the food does not taste anything exceptional.
Tal
What a let down! The only thing working for this place is the service. The food is average and the portions tiny. They could charge a bit more but make the main courses bigger than starters. It’s a shame that The Oberoi NewDelhi has failed yet again in opening a to go Chinese restaurant in Delhi. The Taj and Hyatt continue to have an edge as far as Asian cuisine is concerned.
TS
Honestly , you need to bring the Taipan menu back. Your dimsum lunch was a big hit and all the dimsums in it. Baoshuan has brought down the oberois quality and food value. Taipan was one of the best and finest Chinese restaurants in Delhi. I would want the menu to be re revised as there are no dishes in main course and please get your dimsum lunch back. The Taipan Dimsum lunch had your restaurant get all the attention and customers.

Well, the old gives way to the new and though we miss the large, grand taipan , the smart new baoshuan visited on an evening was warm and welcoming too.The hospitality was superb and the food just awesome! The grilled bhetki was as delicious as could be and the shrimp dimsums bursting with flavour. The food left us feeling refreshed and light and the musicians' band in the oberoi lobby added the zing to a lovely evening !

Taipan has been replaced by Baoshuan. With London based Michelin star chef Andrew Wong as mentor chef, our expectations were as high as they could have been when we visited this newly revamped place. The much awaited opening of Baoshuan with modern ambience in place of our favourite restaurant - Taipan, which had that old charm and the view - was sadly not so great.
We were handed over the Menus and to our surprise, there were very very limited options that made it extremely difficult for us to choose. We ordered Thousand Chilly Chicken, which was good. Though the Chicken was decent, my mother was very disappointed with the Vegetarian food. We ordered ‘Bao Mushrooms’ which as a dish was very soft and light and was extremely bland and not to our liking. Then comes the time to order the mains, and as mentioned we had very limited options to pick from. For vegetarian we ordered Chinese Greens in main course along with Veg. noodles and it tasted like a salad, with poor presentation and was not an enriching experience to say the least. We had to order another vegetarian dish just to firstly get rid of the taste (rather no taste) and secondly try and at least get some satisfaction that not all is so bad with this newly opened restaurant and so we ordered Tofu with gravy. This again was not something to talk about. For non-vegetarian food, we ordered Chicken gravy and Grilled bhetki fish with rice, chicken was just okay and was unexpectedly sweet while fish was the only thing that we relished the most. Main course did not have any gravy. Chicken and fish were still okay but if you are a vegetarian then one should definitely think before they plan to visit this place.
We had gone for our parents Anniversary and we liked the hospitality and warmth but the food was a major disappointment. Staff was courteous and warm and accommodating to our requests but I think the food was not in their control so based purely on that we would give Baoshuan 2.5 stars and an additional 0.5 for helping us with a cake for the anniversary which we appreciated. The cake, by the way, was extremely good and this made it a sweet ending to our evening.
We had gone for my birthday with family in early January. The restaurant has recently opened up after Oberoi got closed for renovation. The ambience has been changed and the rooftop element is good. The menu is very limited with few options, so less of confusion. The only drawback was that on that day it was very very noisy, it seemed as if I am sitting in a good court, so the ambience was not very romantic or relaxing, maybe this can be due to some business group which Wa having dinner, but no matter what it was very busy. Also the food service was quick and the captain would be standing to ask if we wanted to order some thing else, which I felt strange, cause I appreciate my privacy.

Very nice ambience , food and specially the service. Anish thank you for making it special , nice chap . The view from terrace is very nice 😍😍😍😍😍 .

Nice place for chinese food at a 5 star hotel. Ambience is good, although being a vegetarian it was not a very good choice.
Options are limited, also quantity is less.
Cocktails are good.
The much anticipated baoshuan opens in place of my favourite Chinese place in Delhi -taipan and sadly, it’s a big fail. The restaurant has become smaller and also lost the old charm of the window side sofa seating and the views. The revamped restaurant has faulty planning because the door keeps opening every time the terrace door would open, bothering us with cold air from outside, big fail for a just renovated space.we ordered quite a few starters-vegetable spring roll, tofu chilli oil ,chicken Bon Bon , fermented chicken , thousand chilli chicken ,lamb skewer , har gao, prawn ball and the wasabi prawn skewer. the prawns appetisers and the thousand chilli chicken were good, not outstanding though. The rest were very ordinary and avoidable..it then took more than half hour for the main course to be served and it was terrible.. they served egg fried rice instead of the veg fried rice and then took forever to change it. The only saving grace were the noodles. Surprisingly they don’t do main course gravies in the afternoon.. since we insisted they did one veg stir fry and a chicken gravy which turned out to be below standard. In desserts we were suggested the smoked banana which was terrible and an innovative ice cream trolley from which we had the blueberry cheesecake ice cream and crem Brûlée ice cream ,both decent in taste. There was no way I could feel that I was dining at a restaurant even remotely close to Taipan , in terms of service standards and food. The hospitality and warmth are definitely missing and I’m not coming back anytime soon. I will miss taipan..
Namita Kothari
The saving grace is probably the food rest if u
Looking for right attention and nice service then u need to think a billion times. One waiter serves u disappears, then u need to request for a menu for main course as there is no one to ask... fed up
U call the manager Mr.Tashi who listens calmly , serves u a drink probably to make up , food comes no one to ask or attend or even serve the second time. Then a dessert follows but can free treats compensate for lost services ... for me ... don’t see visiting again as for rest if u footing and planning a big bill they might behave better and ya if u looking for racism it loud and clear here u a foreigner u wud get all the love guys ... all the best

Loved the food. The service was exceptional. Manuel helped us to choose what to have and he really did a great job. The ambience is great and the view makes it even better.

Baoshuan is everything that Taipan was not. Modern and chic decor. The warmth and welcoming service from Oberoi is obviously retained. And the food is delicious. Must try the 1000 chili chicken and the prawn or lamb skewers. The mushroom bao (which was not on the menu ) was mind blowing!
