By far, this place has the most flavorful Indian food in the city. The first spoonful of my first delivery order confirmed it.
I was starving & wanted delicious North Indian Meal. All thanks to Dragon's Maharani.
We ordered Kadhai Chicken & Butter Naan.
The quality & quantity of food was good. Succulent chicken & buttery melt in mouth naan made our dinner a decedent savoury heaven.
I'll visit here again for more heaven dishes.

The food is amazing. Specially the chilly chicken. I like my chilly chicken to be crispy and it was just that. Apart from chilly chicken you can also try Fish orley and Chicken Tikka as well
I have been here many times for lunch. It has been a wonderful experience. Its a nice restaurant with nice meal and service. It is a inexpensive restaurant, all meals are available at affordable prices
Its one of my favourite restaurant to enjoy a dineer with family in c.p. Where allover crowded cafes but in this restaurant u can enjoy dinner with soothing music.. Kadai chicken.. Maharani spl. Paneer.. Is my fixed order everytime i visit...
Away from the hustle bustle and crowded cafes where people mostly go for Facebook check-ins, Maharani stands tall with simple food and rustic ambiance. I remember going here in the quest to find a light simple yet yummy butter chicken and believe me i came out more than satisfied. the booze is cheap and happy hours are amazing. I tried chicken rolls and chilli chicken, again which were decent enough. Also the Dal Makhni is more than recommended. An experience worth every penny :)
Go here to make the most of happy hours. And if you want to eat, stick to starters. Liquor is fairly cheap. 60 ml teachers for 250 plus taxes during happy hours. They have innovative pricing for the non happy hours too.
Ambience is not so great. But a good place if you want to sit with friends, have cheapish liquor, listen to light music and chat over drinks. Not one of those loud music places.
Ordered chilli chicken, peanuts masala, chilli paneer. Servings were small but taste was good.
Stuck to starters only. Service was quick and staff was courteous.
I went there with the crave for true slurping butter chickkaann! And what I got was exactly what I craved for. This place is a bit shady but yeah I liked it! Different from the regular restaurants we have in and around CP. Planning a next visit soon!
Dragon's Maharani is a popular (and one of the oldest) eating joint in Connaught Place, at the heart of New Delhi. Restaurants are dime a dozen in the vicinity and the fact that it has survived for so long speaks of the place. The best thing about it is the high quality food at reasonable prices.
The place serves a variety of food and you can get good Indian and Chinese food here. To top it all, they also serve sizzlers, that too at reasonable prices. The place is divided into two parts- ground and first floor. The ground floor is pure dining style with a smallish bar in a corner. The first floor christened “Addictive Bar and Lounge” has low sofa type seating giving it a lounge kind of look. The interiors are not very exotic but not tasteless either. The service was prompt and the waiters went about their chores with a smile.
This time we ordered Indian Cuisine which was served in good time. The ingredients tasted fresh and the food was very appealing to the palate. It was also well presented. Though, despite our telling them to make the butter chicken with very mild spices, the kids found it too spicy for their taste. Rest everything about the food was spot on. To top it all, the service was also very good and food was served to us in good time.
The bar runs happy hour from 12 noon to 11:30 PM on weekdays and 12 noon to 8 PM on weekends (so much for the hour’s duration). So all ye tipplers go ahead and make the most of it.
Downside: The owners need to do something about their washroom. It was in a bad state. Though not dirty per se, it wouldn’t do their reputation any harm if they changed the fittings and tile work to some sort of acceptable standards for the kind of people who patronize them.
My Verdict: If you want to hang out at a fancy place, skip it. But if all you are interested in is quality food and good service at reasonable prices in Connaught Place, this is the place for you.
Bon appétit…
