This place had been on my bookmarks since a REALLY long time, considering the excellent reviews it has managed to garner, but just could't order for some failure or the other!
But when I finally ordered with super high expectations, failure of which could've led to grief, I'm so so glad it was otherwise!
Since they offer only Hyderabadi biryani for vegetarians, that was the only option I had and couldn't be more glad!
So lets get down to the basics of biryani:
Biryanis are different from a veg pulao because:
1. It is dum cooked.
2. It is layered.
The biryani project masters in this.
Perfectly layered, good quality long grain basmati rice impressed me as soon as i opened the lid.
What differentiates the biryani project from other outlets?
Their authenticity. While most restaurants fail to add curd or lemon to the hyderabadi biryani to give it a tangy/ sour taste, this one has it all sorted. Also, the vegetables were properly blended with the rice.
Yes, its a little expensive outlet but worth all the money
Do not have words to express the experience. The presentation was amazing the earthen pot they sent the Biryani at gave a sense of satisfaction with the wonderful taste and aroma along with the nicely packed raita to complement the Biryani. Hats off to the the person who had the brilliant idea to win the hearts of many with their food and presentation. Highly recommended.
Although I am not a big fan of biryani but sometimes you can't just say no especially when it's from The Biryani Project. When you look at the menu, you would find it's very limited but that's the beauty of it. They focus to bring authentic taste of biryani from different regions of India. They serve hyderabadi, Lucknowi and godavari biryani. I ordered Hyderabad chicken dum biryani. The delivery was well within time and the biryani was served sizzling hot with raita. They basically deliver in earthenware pots(handi) which you open at home, mix the biryani and have it. The biryani was amazingly flavorful with succulent pieces of chicken. It's as if, it's coming straight from Hyderabad. The spices were perfectly balanced, the aroma was ecstatic. And it had a good number of chicken pieces which were perfectly cooked. The biryani tasted great with raita. Overall, The Biryani Project should definitely be on your list of you want to try some epic biryani and I would recommend it to everyone.
