Wot a surprise package this place is!!!As soon as you enter the place the ambience, the lush greenery, the colonial building in the centre judt makes you fall in love with the place.Awesome service too.All in all perfect place to relax..
Definitely the best restaurant in Pondichery. Extremely fresh food, attentive staff and lovely environment!
Your instagram is begging you to dine here. Most calming cafe I've ever been to; theyve filled the place with greens and it's super soothing, absolutely loved the vibe and the beyond beautiful decor; the lights are switched on in the evening and it's way too pretty. Their outdoor is a good option during the covid times as air conditioning can be avoided does reducing risk while not compromising on your dining experience as well. The tables are adequately spaced too, so if you badly need to step out at this moment, I'd recommend them for sure. Brownie points for the exquisite cutlery and professional presentation.
* Be quick to order, they take quite a long time to prepare and serve*
We got the
Pumpkin dip- which was served with some pita bread and sticks, the dip was topped with some really yum goat cheese too
Mozzarella sandwich roll- an all time great combination of pesto and mozzarella, topped with some basil leaves served with a side of good salsa and a salad with a lemon dressing. The bread was of the perfect texture, had a mild crunch to bite and was soft to chew at the same time.
Burnt american cheesecake- super smooth and creamy, melts in your mooth, with a nice mild burnt layer on the top served with a side of seasonal fruit squash
The food was really good, however the pastries are a bit on the expensive side for the quantity served; the quality is great though.
Altogether, it's a must visit, it's my most favorite place at puducherry and I'd go back a thousand times over just for the vibe it gives out. You could also stop by at anokhi on the next street after your meal so girls, it's a win win!
The service is very slow. but still the tasty food makes me visit this place each time I go to puducherry.
Love the rissoto and pink pasta.
Went here with a bunch of friends for a lunch scene. The place is usually packed so booking ahead is the norm. The ambience has a great colonial feel and is lush with greens. We ordered their prawn curry rice, spicy prawn rice, fish and chips, some delectable cocktails and other vegitarian stuff that I can't remember for the life of me. The food was made well and seasoned to palate. The prep time or wait time was too long (more than 45min) for some dishes and one order was taken wrong but it was taken care of so nothing to worry. Portion sizes are good for one person and it's a little heavy on the pocket. One of the must try places in Pondicherry.
Beautiful cafe with lots of greenery(outside) and French architecture (inside). We were here for our dinner. Food was decent. Bit pricey. Still it was a beautiful experience
A pretty, upscale cafe. Preferred the outdoor seating because of the lovely patio which makes one feel like they are in nature’s lap. Had a cheesecake only as I wasn’t hungry and had many more places to visit but felt that i had to sit back and take in the beauty of this cafe.

So we went there around 9PM for a dinner and they just wanted to get our dinner orders as quick as possible and get us out of there! This really pissed us off initially. Our friends were supposed to join us later. They insisted we order for them rightaway else they wont serve. They were pretty rigid about it and it was only making me angrier by minute.
But, when we had the first bite of food my anger faded away. This place is mind blowing when it comes food.
We had Burnt Orange and Mozzarella Salad, Red ricotta and grilled vegetables salad.
Fettuccine Brown Butter Mushrooms and a macaroni cheese.
For desserts we had a mango cheese cake and a walnut brownie.
We paid approx. 3900 Rs. for the above.
Pros –Food, ambiance.
Cons – Portion size. Service, Rigid staff, Expensive.
TTB rating – 4.5*
This will be surely one of my most memorable meals in the recent times.
Coromandel Cafe at Pondicherry is one of top 50 restaurants in India and boasts of some great decor and ambience. Housed within the premises of an old building with French architecture with a large courtyard and garden, the menu here is innovative as well as classy. The Pepper Prawns were the best and so was the Tamarind and Ginger Glazed Chicken. The Strawberry Tiramisu was however our of this world in desserts. Must try if you are here! The cocktails are also brilliant here!
If I were to rate the ambience, I'll give a 20 of 10. Good is not that great, had ordered prawn cocktail pizza and Street herbologist. I have a good time, given I visited at day and it's much better at day.
I understand it's a fine dine restaurant, but it needs more food on the menu.
Friendly and courteous staff. The best part of the restaurant is the ambience. The greenery within cafe makes it so vibrant. Food is nice. Must visit once if you are in Pondicherry.
I always suggest this place for their ambiance as well as their food. They do serve alcohol and have a smoking area outside. They recently got recognized as the top 50 in India. Very well deserved spot, also it’s a part of the amethyst cafe in Chennai.
Good place to eat with good portions. Definitely worth the money.
The only issue is if you happen to come during holiday season you can forget about dining here, you will not get tables and the wait is long. The staff is also a bit rude to guests and favours foreigners.
Maybe get take away?
Food is good. I really liked their Orange French toast and the spicy bagel. Pancakes, bacon sandwich, chicken sandwich are good. I expected the ambience to be really fancy. Service is fast. Their latte is okay but double shot coffee with chocolate is good.
The only item I didn’t like much is there hot pink spinach Benedict
The atmosphere is surreal....timings are also very suitable...outdoor and indoor both options are available...price is little bit costly and the portions could've been more but you can visit there once to experience one of the best cafe in Pondicherry...The staffs are very well behaved. Also, it is pet friendly. We went there to have dinner and without drinks our total bill was 1880 Rs. We had Pork Chops, Beef Skewer and Seafood Spaghetti...all dishes were fresh and very tasty. Also they have good vegetarian options.
Good place, have heard a lot about it so gave a try. Had crispy prawns which were good, then tried mashed potatoes 🥔 they were okayish, then had margarita pizza which was cheesy and yummy. Tried their carrot cake as well which was different and amazing. The place was buzzing with people during the lunch time around 2 pm. Its walkable from rock beach. Liked the ambience as well.
One place where everything is at its best. And this makes the place a busiest cafe. Loved the place, food, service, atmosphere and everything what come with this place. The wait time was worth as the medium rare beef steak was so good with a lovely sauce. Although would recommend the mashed potato to order also which would complete the food and taste. Completed the food with Elaneer sherbet and then the final part.. the best out of all.. the Carrot Cake.. never had so good a sweet dish as this.. would definitely recommend for all times..and also the burnt cheesecake. And a reasonable price. Best place and would definitely recommend..👌
Great ambience both indoors and outdoors. The food is brilliant and with many veg options. Some amazing snacks (we ordered cheese balls, Lebanese dip, pizza, Korean paneer skewers and an aurbigine cutlet) and a wide variety of teas and coffee. It is worth the hype and a must visit if you are in white town.
However the person at the entry giving wait times is abnoxious, arrogant and rude. Said the waiting time is an hour but we got a table in 10 mins! He seemed hell bent in sending customers away. The staff in the restaurant is attentive and prompt.
The café is truly amazing; the food tastes superb, and the ambiance is excellent. We ordered the French Creamy Seafood plate, BBQ Korean Chicken, and Salted Caramelized Brownie with vanilla ice cream. Overall, it was an excellent experience.
In our 3 days stay in Pondicherry we ate twice here for Lunch and dinner. The food was amazingly delicious and service top class. Prices are a bit on the higher side but portions are good. Very impressive selection of dishes on the menu. Loved it.
It was our first visit to Coromandel Cafe, Pondicherry. We were celebrating something special and it was a perfect spot. The ambience with the holiday lighting as well as the food made it memorable. We were savouring every bite of the goat cheese, caramelised onion on pesto pizza. It was simply exquisite followed by a heart helping of apple crumble on vanilla ice cream! Even for a random Wednesday visit we had to wait for tables proving its popularity. Depending on the condition you can be seated outside or indoors. Do visit in the evenings for a magical experience.
I went for a 5 day trip to Pondicherry and visited this place thrice!
The ambience is lovely, both inside and outside. The service was excellent the food was exquisite.
Highly recommend the best dishes we had -
Grilled Fish
Crispy Prawn
Fish & Chips
Burnt Cheesecake
We tried the Mac & Cheese, Pork chops, Seafood spaghetti, Korean BBQ chicken, Prawn Pizza, Pesto Pizza & Goat Cheese Pizza all of which were better than average in terms of taste and presentation. While the Eggs Benedict, widely praised in Google reviews, wasn't to our preference, it's not bad—just not up to the standard set by their lunch and dinner menu. I highly recommend making this your first stop when in Pondicherry.
