Review Fish Aurant - Pondicherry

This place is a pure gem. Please visit of you love fish. Most recommended. We had special lunch with different kinds of fish fries, curries and crabs. Also included white rice and a typical super tasty biryani type flavoured rice. Overall loved the place and shall definitely visit again.

Best place for fish food lovers...we came from Hyderabad and tried the Jumbo pack which costed around 1900/- for 4 members. We received variety of fish recipe and we loved. Most excited part is eating a crab 🦀 for the first time was so satisfying. Taste and Ambiance too good but the local is in colony not on the main road that's the only problem.

Visited after reading very good reviews. And the place definitely deserves it, my partner rarely eats sea food, so the owner helped us select the right dish. And the service is fast and the food is absolutely delicious. The place is a hidden gem for seafood lovers. And the prices are also reasonable. Definitely recommend.

Its a very cool place to eat. The service was good. Staff were polite and friendly. The food was delicious. The kitchen can be seen from the outside and everything looked clean and hygienic. Would strongly recommend for moderate budget dine in. Have a good eating.

I would have missed the delicacies after watching a few pre planned negative reviews. This is a must go place for nin vegetarians in Puducherry. The owner here is a very humble person who suggests dishes based on our interests and number of people. The taste is very good and the price is too reasonable. After having food once, we went once again for the next day's lunch.

The feeling when you are treated as a guest to home and served with the best delicacies made of the hands of the mother , this is exactly how was the feeling in my heart when I ate every bite and also when I left the restaurant. Yummy!! Beautiful flavors, fresh sea fish, prawns, crabs, squids etc. to top it all my most favorite dish was coconut rice, rich aroma of coconut in rice! Thanks to the restaurant folks who made our experience truly memorable , giving us one more reason to visit Pondicherry more often 😊

A great find situated on the by lanes of pondicherry and you can easily miss it but it was recommended by a local here and I arrived to explore the food. The prawns pops was really tasty and the chicken thali was quite good too. I had a goli soda here reminded me of my childhood.

One of the best sea food restaurant in town. Their special lunch meal and mini prawn platter was the best. Elaneer payasam in the end was just cherry on cake. Highly recommended for sea food lovers.

Best seafood place at Pondi! I usually cheerypick the food places I want to visit before my trip. This place was not listed anywhere.. not in any sites, not in any vlog videos etc …I went to this place as my friend recommended it.. and it was really good! There is not much of an ambience here but the food is affordable plus tasty. Seafood lovers would love this place. I ordered the seafood thali that serves two and it was too much for us! I mean they got soups, prawns biriyani, crab sukka, fish fingers, tawa fried fish, prawn roast, white rice and curry! The crab sukka was just amazing! The serve time is also is between 5-10 minutes… one more point, they got good parking! Opposite to the restaurant there is a parking lot!

Few items are expensive, but price of most of the items are affordable and reasonable. Taste and quality of food was amazing. Combos are wholesome for one person. We ordered seafood mini platter and fish biriyani + pepper chicken combo. Fish in biriyani was big chunk and tasty. Service : they are really quick in service and the place along with the kitchen was neat and clean. The owner and everyone were very nice and welcoming. Atmosphere: lil bit small place. And no music was there. It was well decorated. I think some light music in background will be perfect if the manager considers. Definitely I am taking my family and friends to fishaurant whoever comes to visit pondy.

If you love fish then this is the place you should visit. Ordered platter and had all kinds of seafood. Rice was a little less but taste wise it was Amazing. Staffs were really nice. Nothing special with ambiance and really small restaurant. Since you get lot of items you will spend a lot of time here. You may have hard time getting a table during peak hours. They don't accept credit card but they do accept cash, UPI, debit card.

The overall experience was good. As I’m not a fan of sea food I am writing this review behalf of the people with whom I had gone to Fish Aurant. So they really enjoyed the crab sukka, prawn masala and squid rings. I had chicken pepper masala which was very nice. I felt chicken biryani that I had could have been better.

We were excited to try this highly rated restaurant and hence went for an early dinner to Fishaurant. The restaurant is clean and hygienic with an open kitchen behind the glass. We were well attended by Mr Surya and his team. We asked for their speciality and experimented on the Leatherjacket fish as per Mr Surya's suggestion. Being from Mumbai, we have tried variety of fishes but this fish was one of the best we have ever had! The texture was buttery and it was deliciously grilled to retain all the juices. You can rely on Mr Surya's honest recommendations to suit your taste. We also tried the fish curry which pleased our taste buds as well. In the end, you can make your own Pan with all the ingredients kept at the counter :)<br/>Overall, a definite recommendation if you are looking for a seafood feast in Pondicherry!

In our quest for sea food we ended up At this place small and quirky<br/>Ambience : small place but neat not too congested but u can feel the shortage of space<br/>Parking is big challenge but the owner was very accommodating in getting the car parked properly <br/><br/>Food: we ordered the sea food platter for 2 the crab soup was brought first which was just another pepper water with small crab legs thrown in<br/>Next came the squid fry and the fish seer fry both were very tasty main course consisted of prawns curry prawns Biriyani plain rice and crab curry prawns Biriyani was very tasty with shuttle spice curry both crab and paneer was a little beyond our liking prawns were well cooked but the crab somehow was devoid of meat and we were very disappointed <br/>We also ordered the chicken pepper fry which was sop good we would love to come back for just that<br/>Rest we ordered veg dishes with underlying verdict “do not go for veg in this restaurant “<br/>Service: very nice and forthcoming the last kept on giving suggestions on what to order although at times it felt as if she was being pushy for it<br/>It takes time for the food to be served so be patient <br/>Overall a nice place for sea food I would recommend to stick to fish rather than crabs etc

The owner or main captain of the restaurant looks to be an expert chef(either in a star hotel or cruise) and had made the fish perfect. However grill prawns were a little disappointment, but overall enjoy the fish. And would highly recommend people to visit this place. They also show you fish before cooking and one must request for the best fresh ones.

Extremely shoddy service. Inadequate proportions and tasteless rice preparations. Only saving grace is the seafood platter. The dishes came haphazardly. The plates were laid without any cutlery. I received a soup spoon when I asked for it, and then had to ask multiple times for forks and something as simple as extra sauce. Came with good hope. Extremely disappointed.<br/>

You will feel elated as soOn as you step into this place. They have a wide variety of sea foods (even oyester). Ghee Rice is too yummy with Squid Masala and Prawn Gravy. We tried Fish fry which was mouthwatering. Ilanir Paayasam is their signature dish and I recommend not to miss it. Price is nominal , Quality and Quantity served will justify the bugs you pay. Above all, they serve your orders very fast. Must try if you are a fan of sea foods.

Tucked in a lane this small place has ability to cater to large taste buds😌. Super tasty crab and prawn kolambu. 👍 loved every bit of it. A bit spicy but be cautious.... if u. Ask them to make less spicy, they add coconut milk to the gravy which will change the flavour

Discovered this place while browsing on Zomato and what a find it turned out to be. The restaurant is small but the flavours are brilliant. Clean and tidy place with an incredible selection of sea food. Very reasonably priced and beautiful decor. Loved it!

Amazing service and blind blowing food. Husband had jager food, Oyster masala and manga meen kozhambu.. trust me usually he doesn't eat so much but we were here on a mini break.. so he enjoyed it the most as they specialise in sea food. For me, the vegetarian, it was kadai panner and jeera rice.. trust me it was south indian style and very yummie.. so both our tummies are very happie today 😋😋

As the name suggests, it's a seafood paradise. It's THE place for seafood lovers in Pondicherry. The ambience is simple yet attractive. For me the main attraction was the small cute fish bowls on each table with colorful fishes in it (of course live ones!!). The owner himself is a foodie and a marketing manager turned chef. He will suggest you the best of fishes and other seafood choices available. At times you can get things which are not there in the menu and hardly available in the market. One such fish was Leather Jacket Fish, which we never heard about earlier. It was prepared so well that we had to order a second one. Food quality is at par with any upmarket restaurant in the vicinity at a much better value-for-money. The customer service was bang on. The food here is cooked fresh right in front of your eyes, hence you need to be patient for the best outcome.

Amazing food... We were in pondi for two days and this is only place we felt worth for the price paid. This place is best if you want to try sea food. Staff/owner are best people and very friendly. We took so long to eat and they were giving us our space and were not rushing.<br/><br/>We ordered sea food platter, flsh starters are excellent and first time I tried different type of fish curry and prawn biryani and that takes so good. A good place... We had a platter..awsome preparation..a cozy restaurant situated in a quiet place. A good place all people visiting Pondy. A good variety of sea food. There are only 2 PPL at the restaurant but the hospitality is good.

Food was worst ... they took lot of time to prepare.. waste of time & money ... they took 25 min to bring the bill but there were only two customer on the restaurant..

We visited this place today for Lunch. We had ordered Seafood Platter and Sand lobster. Both were nicely prepared and delicious. If I’m not wrong, they have only one staff for taking orders and serving food. But you would never feel that this is causing any delay in services. That young girl is doing a great job. I would definitely recommend this place. Great job Fishaurant!!

We had prawn pops , crab sukka, prawn pasta, and combo of prawm briyani chicken grvay and veg gravy... Out of which , prawn pops and crab sukka was dope in quantity and taste... We jus loved it... The paste was okay kind and the combo was not up to the quality and price...the staffs were friendly and the place was cozy..<br/>

A small and cosy restaurant. Located in a quaint street, this restaurant serves good seafood. Had a platter, manga meen curry, mojito. The platter was amazing. It had clams, prawns,fish,crabs,fries, rice.

Abysmal is what I would call this place. Despite having not many guests when we came, the service was all over the place. We wanted to try some good fish and saw the rating of this place on Zomato and gave it a shot. But we came to realize that not even zomato ratings give the clear picture.<br/><br/>There was one big family seated and in serving them these folks messed up the service and orders for others. We ordered prawns and rice, fish with rice, kerala paratha and fresh lime juice. <br/><br/>The only good dish was the fish and rice combo. The prawns were absolutely minimal in quantity, though the taste was good. We got only tail sections of half of the prawns and it appeared like they were already empty. We literally got half prawns.  They forgot our kerala paratha and it finally came after 20 min. But by that time our patience was gone. We later saw ants floating in the fresh lime juice, clearly from the sugar/sugar sytrup they used. We left as it is and paid the bill and left as we had no more patience to sit and ask for replacements. <br/><br/>Having left dissatisfied, we went to a nearby pizza shop and took home a chicken pizza to fill our stomachs. <br/><br/>If you really want to try good prawns, look for other restaurants. First thing first! Owner and staffs are super friendly! Had white rice with manga meenkulambu and it is delicious . <br/>For grilled fish - They called me to the kitchen and showed me the fishes and made me select the fish by my wish! And it is tasty!<br/>I also had pasta and elameer payasam ,they are well prepared and good!

In the glass we got a jelly horn kinda insect and when the manager was asked his response was this is the first time??? After which he went inside the kitchen without saying anything....food avg nothing great I felt most of the fish or stuff they deep freeze it for which it’s a bit hard service avg asked onions which we dint get...if you ever visit this place please check the plates and glasses before anything is served..

Highly recommend this place for seafood!! We happened to have randomly landed up here after a quick Google search and this place just stunned us! The owners are super friendly and we'd asked them to suggest us what to order. Since we were good eaters when it came to fish/crab etc they suggested we order the SeaFood Platter and it was the perfect choice! The taste was delectable, the crab soup was absolutely lip-smacking and the fish fingers are some of the best I've had till date!! Definitely go here and revel in the joy!

Second day in Pondy, and we discovered this place. <br/>Food is amazing. They serve fresh seafood items. Well balance of spices. <br/>We ordered one Manga meen Kozhambu and one kerala fish for tasting purpose. It turned out to be great and importantly served hot and fresh. <br/>Then we again went for pepper chicken curry. <br/><br/>A lot of variety is available for seafoods. <br/><br/>Weekends will surely be fun here. <br/><br/>Staff is very friendly and explains the dishes well. <br/><br/>Food better than many fancy named restaurants, and believe me the cost is very pocket friendly. <br/>

They have a lovely ambience...Rear food is Good..But requires some improvement...Their combos are an economical and quiet tasty...The staff is helpful.<br/>

Really good seafood and cheap. Sea food platter almost covers everything they have and take care not to order the same thing when ordering another starter. Also have a sizzler which is a whole fish but may be undercooked at times. I had them cooked it again.

It's a small restaurant in heritage town, it's a cozy Little place... We ordered grill fish whole, fried calamari, drunken prawn, mud lobster and crab sukka. The starters were really very good, specially the drunken prawn. The seafood tasted fresh. The main course was not as good as the starters. Chilli coriander fish was very dry.

Recommemded for a visit. Good place with open mic and keyboard. Air conditioned. Staff is friendly and service is good. Quality of food is good enough for the price, which goes easy on the pocket. Good for groups.

A good place for fish and sea food lovers. Though they specialises in fish and sea food they also have chicken in the menu. We ordered their crumbed fish as suggested by the staff and it was indeed good. Their prawn noodles and Cajun spiced prawns were also a delight. Would love to visit again.
