I went to have what this place represents. Idlis & Idiyappam. First impression that you get is - the place super neat and clean. Romantic Tamil songs were playing the first I visited this place. About the food - super delicious as expected. The first time, I had ordered Nethili Porichathu aka Anchovy 65, Idiyappam with fish (Meen curry) and Idlis with 2 Vegai Chutneys. I fell in love with their chutneys. The first time they served Coconut chutney and Sagu with the Idlis and the second time - Coconut & Tomato chutney. The food gives you such a clean feel that you kinda begin to trust it. So much so that I had this food before boarding for 7 hours long bus journey back to Bengaluru. I loved Idiyappam too, but the Meen curry was too peppery for my taste. What to say about Nethilli Porichathu? Its crunchiness was like having out of body experience while breathing. :)
Availability of some items can be an issue, but I got what I wanted to taste. Handwash is clean, equipped with tissues. I don't think there's washroom here, at least there wasn't one on the ground floor.
Next time I visit Pondicherry, will definitely visit this place again to taste some of the other dishes. I am extremely happy with the food experience I had here. Kudos guys!👍
Small and cozy restaurant in erving some traditional South Indian Idlis and Idiyappams with tweaks of their own. If you are into these two all time favourite southern delicacies, you should definitely visit this place! Their Idiyappam biryani was a pleasant surprise for some of my North Indian biryani lover family members, who were apprehensive about the mere idea of having lunch in a South Indian veg. Eatery. These are the people who have never heard of Idiyappams and can only keep the idlis down their system with a grudge on their faces.. But even they were impressed after having the creative spices laden taste in a simple rather bland idlis (yes, to some North Indians🙄). Their spiced coconut milk was a huge hit among this crowd, who supposedly took it as southern version of lassi or chhach that the North Indian are so used to with their meals. The staff is very helpful and eager to get their customer be familiar and at comfort with their menu.
The place is a right fitting in a town like Pondicherry...old world tradition juxtaposed with creative modern landscape all around.
One of the Good Hotel to try in Pondicherry. The place is small and the service persons also 1 or 2 so takes some time to deliver as they have kitchen in upstairs. But it's a must try place for Idiyappam. I loved trying with coconut milk and Korma. Both are good. Also they serve Idiyappam biryani which I couldn't find anywhere else.
