This one is a small hole in the wall situated in one of the bylanes away from the cacaphony of MG Road. A very simple, neat clean no frills or fancies place but serving mindblowing food. we had the fish thali alongwith the khichda. The serve river fish which is fresh, crispy fried. You can't stop at one. The curry was ok. The chapattis were soft. The khichada was perfectly cooked with chunks of mutton. a healthy and delicious meal in itself. The prices don't burn a hole in your pocket. A must visit place for all foodies!!!!

beautiful place a very homely atmosphere, and one of the best biryanis and food i have ever tasted in pune during these 15 yrs of my stay...you never find the taste quality n quantity ever altering .always yummy and the same ...i strongly feel the aim of the owners is not only business but upmost satisfying the hunger of the rumbling tummies and soothing those drooling tastebuds....for my children biryani means only"Baramati thali"....most highly recommended

Like they say don't judge the book by it's cover, do not judge this place by it's decor.
The food tastes as if it is cooked in a home kitchen.
Prices are really low, I feel they should charge more, I mean 160rs for a Mutton Thali, wow !
The owner is soft spoken and welcoming.
Definitely try any mutton dish here.

Baramati Thali.. Taboot street.. Camp

After a amazing night drive to Sinhagad and relishing the tasty and piping hot Kanda bhaji we were quiet full... So decided to have dinner somewhere near our house on our way back.. But we headed to camp

Upon hunting and driving down in the by lanes of camp we came across Baramati Thali... I remember reading posts by kainaaz ma'am and Anupam Potdar sir sometime back appreciating the food and specially their paya and fried fresh water fish ... So we halted for dinner here

This a very basic and small place with around 8 tables... The place was clean and empty.. I thought maybe they had closed for the day as it was past 11pm.. But the owner happily asked us to sit and served us food

We ordered the following
Mutton Thali.. Consisted of Mutton curry with 4 perfectly cooked Mutton pieces.. A bowl of kheema.. Choice between chapati and bhakri... and rice... The curry was excellent.. Home made taste.. And that falling of the bone Mutton was a perfect match... The kheema too tasted awesome

Paya plate... It looked almost similar like the Mutton curry but the taste was completely different... Amazing paya soup flavours.. Loved it

Fired fish.. This was a fresh water fish.. They call it a a pahadi fish.. It was cooked to perfection... Well coated and still the sweetness and taste of a fresh water fish was intact.. A must try dish.. We ordered multiple portions

Chicken masala.. This a a surprise again.. I thought maybe the curry taste Wld be the same as Mutton but no it wasn't.. This was a complete different prep.. Tasted amazing

Chicken biryani.. This was a dum biryani.. Long grain rice..huge chicken pieces And a tasty Masala to go along.. No complaints.. It was good

Upon talking to the owner got to know that they make different curries for different meats.. So no two curries Wld taste the same

Now the best part.. For the above food our total bill was just ₹1000/-.. For 6 adults.. And that too after ordering multiple portion of food

Approx cost per dish
Mutton Thali ₹160
Chicken masala.. ₹100
Fry fish.. ₹60
Paya ₹100
Biryani ₹120

I am still in shock how cld the owner afford to give this amazing quality of food at such lower prices

The service was fast and courteous

Baramati Thali, Talbot Street, Camp. #WanderDriveEat
Utterly brilliant!! Wonderful home style food, completely my kind of grub.
Fish Fry (Rs60) - Fresh water fish (owner said the name was - silong) from Bhigwan lake. As it was deep fried it was a bit oily, slightly sweet as expected and some pieces were slightly slimy but very tasty. The skin was crisp! Don't go for fish on a Monday though. I overheard the owner saying that the fish is not available in the market on Mondays.
Mutton thali (Rs150) - Incredible mildly spicy mutton curry with boneless fall apart tender mutton! Extremely flavorful mutton kheema with fresh chapatis and indrayani rice. I was left licking my fingers after finishing this.
Chicken Dum Biryani (Half - Rs70) - Mild but very flavorful. The quantity was quite a lot with 4-5 chunky pieces of juicy, fragrant chicken. Really nice.
The owner is very friendly, personally attends to customers and always ready for a chat. Most importantly, the place is so clean and hygienic. I was really surprised and really enjoyed the food.

Baramati Thali - Bajao taali!

This small eatery is located in the tiny lane known as Taboot Street (Camp). It’s been at this location for nearly three years but for some reason I never noticed it. Recently, a Facebook friend happened to visit it. He raved about the food served which is why I simply had to give it a try.

Baramati Thali is a small restaurant with barely 7 to 8 tables. It’s very basic in appearance; I’d term it as a ‘no ambiance’ restaurant, but the food they serve is simply amazing!

On my first visit we ordered the Fish Fry, mutton thali and the chicken thali. The fish they serve is fresh river water fish. The flesh of river fish is way sweeter than that of the regular sea fish like Surmai, Rawas, etc. This was the first time I chose to give river water fish a try as until now, because it tends to be bony, I had avoided eating it. Ask me now if I will have it again and you will see me give a vigorous ‘yes’ nod. Fried to a perfect crisp with that sweet flesh within, it was one of the best fish I’ve ever had. Each slice is priced at a very reasonable rate of 30 bucks. It simply does not get any better than this, right?? ;)

The mutton thali comprised of a bowl of mince, a bigger bowl of mutton rassa (rassa: gravy), 2 chapattis and a bowl of rice. The portion size is ideal for one person. The mince and the rassa, were delicious and they each had its own distinct flavour. The rice was the simple variety (not long grain) but then I’m not the fussy sort when it comes to small eateries such as this where flavour is king!

The chicken thali was delicious, too, but I preferred the more robust flavoured mutton thali. I say this because I am comparing the two. Had I only opted for the chicken thali, rest assured, I would be singing its praises as vociferously.

I loved the food so much that three days later I was back at their table. (I’m not at all ashamed of my gluttony because I have a sneaky feeling you will be doing the same) This time I opted for the Paya thali and, of course, I ordered that beautiful slice of fried fish. The Paya thali comprised of a bowl of Paya with rassa, two chapattis and a bowl of rice. As I was craving to have the mince, I requested a bowl of the same to be served with the Paya thali. The mince was just as savoury as it had been the first time; and the fish just as dazzling on my palate as it had been three days ago. The Paya rassa was yum! The Paya were cooked to perfection and to perfect consistency. Not one piece of the Paya was undercooked or over cooked. Having cooked Paya at home for many, many years the home cook in me was abound with joy at being fed such perfect Paya.

If you are game to visit a small but clean, no ambiance restaurant, please do give this eatery a try. The food they serve is slightly on the spicy side (No, I’m not complaining, I love spicy food) but it is simply delicious! The chapattis served are soft and fresh. The meats are cooked to perfection. They also serve a variety of vegetarian dishes which, of course, I did not try. Now why would the carnivore in me do that when I have meat to feast on? :D

They do not have any desserts on their menu but they do serve a variety of cold drinks and bottled water. The bottled water (RS 20 – 1 litre) is priced at actual if I’m not mistaken.

The owner Syed ji is friendly without being intrusive and always keeps an eye on the tables to ensure each patron leaves happy and satiated! Restaurants such as this, the ‘no frills’ kind, serve such honest and wholesome food that they totally satisfy this foodies soul. This place is definitely worth MANY, MANY visits!

Nice homely ambience. The owner makes you feel welcome the service was better than what you generally get at 5 star hotels - warm, welcoming and full of enthusiasm. Prompt service with a smile all the time. Food was decent. Not out of the world, but good enough at the cost.

Great food and priced well. Food is tasty while being on the pungent and spicy side staying true to the Baramati name! The elderly couple that run this place are from Baramati and are very affable too.

Won't say best but undoubtedly it's very good joint for Mutton Thali. It's located on Taboot street which is adjacent to MG road. Their main dish seems to be the Fish Thali which I could not try, but will surely try next time. 160 Rs for a mutton Thali is one of the best deal in town. It's a Halal food joint and one thing I want to share is they serve Mutton Khichda (Not Khichdi) on every Wednesday of INR 150, which I will surely try soon.
