Mangalavilas Military Hotel” or famously known as “Mangalam Mess” – This hotel starting with one restaurant near Shanti theatre, they now have five branches. The easiest one to locate for the tourists and the locals will be the one which is opened near the New Bus-stand. They have a sufficient seating capacity of about 50 people. They serve only Non-vegetarian food but hardcore non-vegetarians shall and should never leave an opportunity of visiting this place when in Salem. If you want to sweat without exercise but while eating and taste some Spicy mouthwatering non veg dishes then this the place to be at – THE MANGALAM Mess. One can enjoy the excellent chicken and mutton gravies with excellent side dishes like brain fry, chicken chukka, chicken roast, fish fry, egg fry, egg poriyal (Egg burji) with parota, Dosas and briyani. Dosas are served in the mornings till 12 PM and again in the evening. Briyani and meals are served in the noon. Its opened only upto 12PM on Sundays.

On my way back from Yercaud,me and my friend decided to have breakfast here. We ordered Dosa, Ghee roast Dosa, Omelette, Chicken fry, Mutton fry and water bottle. To begin with, the dosas were soft and was accompanied by mutton and chicken gravy. The taste was divine. We also got chicken fry and mutton fry in the meanwhile. Needless to say, those were fried in Ghee and you do get the aroma out of it. Mutton fry was better than the chicken fry. Not that chicken fry was bad or something. Even that was good, but mutton fry stood out. Omelette was soft and puffy. I liked it. No complaints here. Even the staff member was courteous and took care of our needs. Will surely visit again the next time I visit here..

If you get parcel of any dry item, gravy is complementary. Roti and such north indian breads are not available; only dosa, parotta. Briyani and meals taste good as well.

Speciality was the parotta and chicken fry. Immensely one of the best.
We tried mutton fry as well. It was A class, served hot and delicious it was.
One of our friend was a vegetarian and there was no gravy nor chutney available for dosa. But they got it from nearby shop for him and one another server ordered to make a chutney soon and put us to comfort.
Overall a very good goto place for non veg lovers. The best in Salem I would say.
Had breakfast here. Really awesome. Feel like hone made food. And the best part is their secret Masala recipe. Authentic South Indian taste. Menu priced reasonable. Even had a heavy breakfast doesn’t feel like other shops Masala food. Feel good and yummy 😋. Highly recommended this 60 years old restaurant. Must visit once if you travel via or to Salem.
This one the one famous hotel and old hotel in Salem. Please visit this place and do not take the parcel. We need to have it there only. Must try parota, all non veg items.

Managala vilas always holds a place whenever I get confused to let myself into a hotel for lunch. I went in and surprisingly most of the seats were free. Food was good👍. I'd recommend for the people who are looking for the best non veg meals foods.
One of the best restaurant in Salem .. Good place Mutton Nalli, Parotta dishes, egg Dosa with mutton gravy fanatic combination in this hotel. Kothu Parotta will make you mouth watering. Amazing food varieties.
I was searching for a Multi cuisine restaurant but ended going to this place. Trust me if you are lover of Rice with chicken/mutton curry this place js for you. It's an unlimited non veg meal at just 95 and taste is awesome. Even other items we ordered were also surprisingly with large quantities. The place is Hygienic. Pichu potta kozhi was awesome.They have a separate place for car parking opposite to the hotel. This place is has half retro half modern ambience.
I heard this popular name from my father repeatedly and today i have steped in to get my take away in the morning. Food was simply awesome and to find a pure non veg hotel that too for morning tiffin itself is really a great stuff.
No doubt why this place is running successfully for more than 5 decades.
