Guptajees Vaishnav Bhojanalya is located just below Vijay Sweets which is easy to spot from the iconic chole bhature stairs. You can easily Google the location as it's accurate.
Guptajees is a very old pure vegetarian restaurant situated in Shimla. It is still classic for a lot of people when it comes to enjoying really yummy Indian food in Shimla. I ordered a Paneer Butter Masala, Chana masala, Raita along with 2 really well made Indian Breads, Garlic Naan and Tandoori Laccha Parantha. The portion , taste and quality of each dish was on point and you could easily taste that it was made fresh. Unlike many restaurants, there was no excess oil floating on the dishes which I was really impressed by !
The sitting is not much, they do have two floors but both occupy around 4-6 tables max. Also as I went for lunch, it was crowded and I had to wait for around 10-15 minutes.
But as soon as I got to the table, we were addressed immediately with our requests. The service is fast and prompt and the restaurant prices are extremely pocket friendly. Under 500 rupees you can enjoy a full wholesome good meal.
Definitely Highly recommended for amazing Indian and Vegetarian Food in Shimla. Do not miss the Iconic Guptajees when you're in town.

Restaurant is on the Mall road Shimla, you have to go down stairs somewhere. Dinning space is less but food quality is good and hygienic. I had a dinner there and it was good and under budget.

I had aloo paratha and tea for breakfast over here. Very quick service and a cozy little outlet. Place was almost empty in the morning. The paratha had minimum oil which was a good thing for me. Overall had a good experience.
This man knows the actual taste of food. Entire shimla is tasteless, they don’t know the actual the taste of food. Coming from north India this restaurant saved my living in Himachal.

Good place to have meal. Taste is good. Seating capacity is not enough. A bit of congested. Service is ok. Value for money. Sometimes you have to wait for quite a while. You can take away packed meals also. Not a very clean and tidy place. But you can have meals hare. In the evening it is quite crowded specially during the dinner time.
located in the mall road Guptajees offer fine quality of vegetarian food at pretty moderate price. If you don't have budget to eat at other restaurants located in the mall road due to their high cost then you should definitely visit this place as they offer a lots of veg delicacies.
Though this place is pretty crowded sometimes and is hard to find empty tables or seats and also your order may take longer than expected time to arrive.
One of the best food in shimla Mall road. Pure vegetarian and very humble owner.once I have no money they have no online transfers .I request him they said come I will manage for it . must try gupatajees special dish.
I went to this place after getting referred from my friend omji kushwaha (urf. Golu ji) the food is fantastic
Today golu ji ate 6 rotis with malat kofta and he absolutely loved it he even licked his fingers

I have been there twice, one in 2015 and second recently in 2023.

Both times I was more than satisfied with the food and service.

I had ordered Dal, laccha parantha and Some paneer dish earlier.
The food tasted good, they have maintained the quality and the best part is it is not that expensive since it is on Mall road.

Service is quick.

The only problem is space because of the crowd that comes to eat there, sometimes there is a line outside for waiting and also sometimes you might have to share your table with other people as well, apart from this everything is good there.
