Review Pot Bhar - Thane

Outstanding Authentic Malwani food. It's a small joint near Teen Petrol Pump offers delicious seafood. The best seafood I ever had in Thane compared to other overhype seafood restaurants. It was so delicious and reasonable. We tried Pomfret thali, Surmai Thali, Tisrya Sukka, Bombil fry and Prawns fry. All the fish items were fresh and juicy and Their service is quick. Drawback of this restaurant is they only accept cash and seating arrangement is compact. Other than this all is good. I recommend this place for authentic malvani seafood lover.

Good Food🤤 Food Quality is good, so is the taste. घरगुती जेवण❤️ Bombil Fry, Kolambi Tikhla, Mutton Vade, Bhakri, Kolambi Bhat, Surmai Tawa Fry and Solakdhi were the dishes I tried. Everything was fresh and cooked properly. The only thing I didn't like was Surmai Tawa Fry as masala i.e. the coating was very less and result didn't taste great. And Solkadhi after your meal is must have.

I have been going to this place from quite a few time, cozy but amazing restaurant. They are known for their fish thalis. Must try is Surmai thali, prawns sukha and Sol kadi.

Hands down best chicken thali I had in thane till date. I also had vade apart from bhakari and they are best in in test. The place is really crowded and there is around 20 min waiting for table on weekends. Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Ambience 3.5/5

Very good Small but Fine Hotel, famous for Sea Food and non veg Food. Just on the Ghantali Devi Road and near Teen Petrol Pump in Thane West. Very crowded on Saturday Sundays have long waitng. Food is very good but very costly like Surmai Thali 400Rs and Pomfret Rs 450

Awesome peaceful air conditioned ambience with considerably quick service and very tasty variety of food at reasonable price. Sea food is the speciality. Cons: You have to pay strictly and completely by hard cash only and no cards or online payments are accepted. You may have to wait for about 15-20 mins especially on the non veg days like Wednesday Friday Sunday when its crowded. Otherwise its easy to get the seat quickly.

Malvani food at its best. Small and quaint joint. Few tables and chairs, so be early... They start with their signature Maharashtrian Malvani Coconut Chutney. Tried the Prawns Tikhala (a thick prawn gravy) with authentic Vades. Also had the Bombil Rava Fry, Surmai Tawa Fry, Prawns Rava Fry and Bheja Fry. All were just awesome. Top it all off with their Solkadi. Reasonable rates and good quantity. Service is fast and with a smile. You can also try their Thalis, Biryanis, North Indian or Chinese.

The Fish Thali stands out with its well-balanced and robust seafood flavors, offering a satisfying culinary experience.

This place is like love for Foodies prefers Authentic Malvani Sea Food. Upvote for this place only bcoz of awsum thali choices and excellent food quality . Downside is this place has very limited seating arrangement, hardly 5-6 tables. So if you are unlucky then queue is waiting for you. Limited Valet parking is available. They dont take table reservations. If you are Sea food lover then must to visit this place and try bombil fry for sure. Go hangout.

Most probably best malvani kokani food restaurant in thane , very authentic, tasty food , accurate measurements of masalas and ingredients, myself being a kokani , I can say that this place has the same exact taste of kokani food , 10/10 for the food , must visit, highly recommended

Food tase was very good. Surmai rawa fry is ossum. Hotel is not specious but it's not big deal when you serve good food. They need one thing to accept online payment this facility is not there.

Had ordered chicken sukka with bhakari, taste and quality was good but chicken sukka quantity was less. It was almost half of the box. Atleast they should have provided 3/4 th of the box. Only one person can eat provided quantity of Chicken sukka that too not "potbhar"

Potbhar is famous for it's Malvani and Konkani Cuisine. It is a small joint but the taste is definitely worth it. Deliveries are the go to option. <br/><br/>Ordered a Mutton Vade Meal and Mutton Sukka. Both tasted excellent. The Mutton Masala gravy was full of authentic flavours and went well with the Vade. The pieces of mutton were very soft and juicy. The spice level was perfect for both the dishes. The Vade were soft and not too oily. They were generous in providing 6 pieces because most of the restaurants provide only 4 in one plate. <br/><br/>The prices are also very affordable. The Mutton Sukka was again very tasty. It was prepared in thick gravy and had all the right amount of flavours and spices. The mutton pieces were melting in the mouth and were present in sufficient quantity in both the dishes. Just wish they could improve the packaging of the delivery. But full marks for the food taste though.

Not worth as per rate charged.for 400rs Surmai thali the size of Surmai was very small also very little quantity of food served.

Why people giving him 4 star I really don’t know.. food was very very avarage.. we ordered kaleji Thali.. so they should give kaleji masala and chicken rassa na but they give boiled kaleji in chicken rassa.. rassa also very avarage.. a big NO to this restaurant..

I m not a huge fan of seafood but if you really love sea food you have to visit this spot it serves the best sea food also the rates are quite affordable. Later day we ordered chicken kombadi vade which had generous portions of chicken the gravy was quite delicious authentic Malvani style. Next was prawns thali which had one rice bhakari,prawns Kalvan (gravy),bowl of rice,dried prawns fry. Surmai Thali had one bhakari,one big proportion of fried surmai which was crispy and fried really well,gravy with fish,dried prawns fry,bowl of rice. Super delicious. Next we had was pomfret Thali which had a huge fried pomfret the size was really great,then rice bhakari,fried fry pomfret,a gravy,a bowl of rice. Also you can order extra bhakari,rice or vade if needed. Overall my experience was PHOTBHAR

This place truly lives up to its name "Pot Bhar", by the time we were done with our lunch we were literally Stomach fullll...It was my first time visit to this place and this restaurant was recommended by my cousins stating they had an awesome experience in trying the different thalis and fish fry..A small joint but delicious food. We had Bombil Thali, Chicken Thali and Prawns Malvani Biryani. Biryani was yummy but a bit too spicy for me, Thalis lived upto the expectations. Overall a must visit place for sea food/ Malvani cuisine lovers 😊👍

This place is heaven for malvani/spicy food lover. The taste and quantity justifies the value for money concept.<br/>The restaurant is quite small, vegetarians only gets to eat Masala Bhat. Most of the times they don't even have paneer, so it is a big thumb down for vegetarians.<br/>Service is average as well, but the NON VEG food is finger licking (Both Chicken and seafood items).

Very tasty Konkani food at a reasonable price. Tasted chicken thali and fish fry which was really good. A place for nice delicious food with excellent service. All food items were served hot.

Came here with lot of expectations. However the place didn't deliver. Very much overpriced for the food they serve. Ordered surmai thali of which fish fry was ok. Chicken sukka was less than average. Vade plate found to be stale. Solkadi was watery. Overall not a good experience.

Don't go by the size of the place, they serve amazing good. Been here twice and both the times, the food was delicious. We tried, surmai thali, mutton thali and bheja fry. Everything was superb. The size of surmai in the thali was unexpected big. Great value for money without having to comprise on the taste.<br/>Rated 4 because they don't accept card payments. Need to change with the time.

I had been to this no-frills family restaurant tucked away in the bylanes of Naupada, on a Sunday night for a dinner with my dad and got a seat after waiting there for almost 10minutes. The ambiance is very simple and does perfect justice to the quote, "Do not judge a book by its cover." I ordered a Surmai Fry thali (Seer Fish) for myself while dad decided to go with their Kheema one for him. The order came within no time and we started feasting only after I captured a few good clicks for my Instagram! My meal comprised of Tandalachi Bhakri (an Indian flatbread made from rice flour), fried piece of Surmai (Seer fish/Kingfish), surmai curry with two small pieces of surmai, javla (dried baby shrimp cooked in Indian spices), rice, green chutney, and Solkadhi (a drink made from coconut milk and kokum). To begin with, the Seer fish was impressively low on oil and super fresh. It's was definitely one of the freshest Surmais I've had across the city. The fish was coated with semolina and golden fried to perfectness. There was flavor in every bite and the proper balance of spices just made me go wow. Most importantly, the size of the kingfish was worth the price tag of the thali. The javla was again made nicely, just the way we make it at home. However, they could increase the quantity slightly. About the fish curry, this was a let down as the curry was mildly salty and I hadn't expected it to turn out that way. The rice bhaakri was tender and went well with the fish. Solkadhi had a bright pink color and the strong yet delish drink helped us wash it all down. Moving on to my dad's thali, kheema was oozing out taste and I liked it a lot personally. It was moderately spicy and tasted amazing. I happened to finish my entire plate all by myself and tummy was completely full at the end.<br/><br/>Be sure to reach here a bit early than the regular dinner timings as there's a long waiting sometimes. Also, make sure you've carried a sufficient amount of cash with you as they don't accept cards or online payments. I loved the overall vibe of the place and loon forward to coming back again for gorging on some more seafood thalis. There's just one person taking down orders and managing everything, so you need to be a bit patient. The service is quick and our attendant was polite. Our weekend ended on a happy note for real!

Had been to this place last Sunday. Small place and bit difficult to locate however the visit was worth it. We tried prawns fry, chicken sukka and vade, surmai fry thali and bhakari. Every dish served was amazingly perfect and tasty. The fish was fresh and yummiee. Solkadi was perfect. I would definitely visit this place again.

Cozy little place we hit randomly on our way to thane from Pune and it did hit disappoint. This place defines why you should not judge book by its cover ! <br/>6-7 tables with 4 chairs each looks and feels a bit congested but their food makes it up for the inconvenience. Menu is small and well designed and around malavani style. <br/>We started with some fried bombil which honestly trumped any fried chicken dish I have ever had. <br/>We had one Prawns Thali, one Egg Thali , tho quantity was bit low it was simply delicious. Kolam rice was going nicely with coconut based gravies, and their complementary zhinga chutney was next level. <br/>As we eat like never ate before we ordered one chicken Bhat Malvani, Bheja masala and chicken vade and they completely stole the show. Every bite of that bheja with vada was heavenly beautiful. Ending with extra solkadi helped it wash down perfectly. <br/>Taste like this you only find in authentic restos. Having visited this place multiple times, I can definitely say that this is one of the best places to eat seafood or Maharashtrian meat specialities.<br/>Best things to have Bheja masala, any fish thali, kolambhi bhat, komdi vade and do not forget to taste the green chutney they serve.<br/><br/>Complaints - the place is too small which makes the sitting uncomfortable, also you need to wait for a long time for your turn to get a table. This is a very small restaurant but hardly 4-5 tables but the food is worth trying. They serve authentic malvani and konkani style food. Crab thali and solkadhi is a must try. Since it's a small restaurant, you'll usually find people waiting especially on weekends. So, plan accordingly. Extremely pocket friendly.

If you are bombil & surmai lover (Bombay Duck) and (seer fish) respectivly they both are also worth to try for. Had heard a lot about this place so thought of giving it a try and surely it didn't disappoint us at all! Potbhar serves really fresh and authentic malwani cuisine. Located in thane, it's a small restaurant that could accomodate around 25 people or more. Coming to the food, we tried:<br/><br/>Prawns rawa fry - small to medium sized prawns cooked to perfection. The rawa coating was perfect and not too thick. But I wish the size of the prawns and quantity could have been better.<br/><br/>Surmai Thali - the thali consisted of 2 bhakris, rice plate, fried Surmai, sukha jawla, surmai raasa and solkadi. The size of the Surmai was pretty good and was cooked well.<br/><br/>Prawns Thali- this one had the curry version of prawns and not prawns sukha. Rest of the things were same. Visited this place with one my friend, just to try some new restaurant but it turned out to be a good place , yes the restaurant is quite small but the taste and quality of fish is very good, we had bombil thali(Bombay duck) this thali consist of fish fry, dry fish sider, curry, rice bhakari or chapati and solkadi. I was in thane for my personal work so I decided to visit a proper full meal restaurant. As soon as I opened my zomato, came across to this restaurant named "POTभर". As the rating was good I decided to try the thali of this restaurant.<br/><br/>As I entered the restaurant, I realized the place is little to small, but the decor was good. I was starving so I ordered a veg thali. Whithin 2-3 mins he served it. The thali was literally mouth watering and the aroma of the veggies was amazing. Usually they serve 2 usal, 1 dal, 1 solkadhi, 1chatni, 2 rotis, 1 rice and 1 papad.<br/><br/>The restaurant is run by malvani chefs so I was expecting little spicynees in food and it was there. The thali's are pocket friendly. The person who was taking orders was so quick that within no time he was serving to every guest. This place was recommended by a friend Lalit Shirsekar so just gave it a try.. Being a fish lover we ordered surmai (seer) Thali, kolambi (prawns) thali. Paplet (pomfret) thali and bombil (Bombay duck) fry. The food is value for money and the best part is they serve authentic Malvani cuisine..<br/>Gonna visit here very soon

We ordered from Potbhar yesterday as we wanted to eat nice Malwan food. They do not deliver to majiwada hence my husband had to get the food on his way back home from office.<br/><br/>*Food we ordered*:<br/><br/>*Surmai fish fry and Bombil fish fry* : Both were salty<br/>*Chicken vade and Mutton vade* : Not good pieces at all. Even poli bhaji people put in better (not good) pieces than Potbhar does.<br/>*Prawn rice*: This is the only dish we loved. It had the taste of prawn which was yumm.<br/><br/>We may order only Prawn rice (bhat) from this place next time and nothing else!<br/><br/>

We had prawns rava fry for starters and it was so amazing that we ordered one more time.. it was perfectly fried, with perfect spice and crunch and well cooked. It was super yummy. In thali we had chicken thali which was good. Another thali we had was surmai thali which was super delicious. Surmai was perfectly done with the right spices. Bhakri was soft n nice. Maharashtrian food is so diverse there was curry n rice. Solkadi was amazing..a must after having nonveg food. There was dry fish called jawla which was good too. Pot bhar as : In Marathi mom used to tell pot bhar khaun ja means don't keep your stomach empty eat full meal . Little place in Thane serving excellent Malwani food. The dining room is small so you would have to wait for a while but this helps to build up your appetite with the aroma.<br/>The food is simple but delicious. Chicken/ mutton with vade, fried fish, Sol kadi is too good. This place is known for it's thalis and it's amazing. I am a fan of Malwani food and try to search for good restaurants serving it and this is one of the good ones without any doubt.<br/>The price is very reasonable too.

Potbhar has reduced the quantity for parcel. Also we did not receive any phonecall for choice between bhakri and Chapati.

if you are a true non vegetarian then you should visit this place at least once with empty stomach. I bet you will surely love it. they serve amazing food. fish, chicken etc. we had a chicken thali, kombadi Wade, bombil fry, prawns fry etc. food was so tasty. if you prefer ambiance more than taste then I think you won't like it too much. there are hardly 8 tables which is always full. but don't worry it's a family restaurant :)

this was the best place i ever visited for seafood.. delicious and decent taste. we had surmai and kolambi thali and Pomfret fry. Not far from the Thane station. I would definitely suggest. the only problem is place is too small n we have to wait and of course this is because of taste of food here. Eagerly waiting to visit again
