Popular South Indian restaurant in the area. Idlis/Dosas are tasty. Mushroom biryani was average. Filter coffee is above average. Service is quick and cleanliness is maintained.
Found this place while walking on the streets of Hiranandani Estate. Thought of giving it a try and it did not disappoint!
You can dine in here, it has an arrangement for 18-20 people at a time.
We ordered Idli sambhar and Rava Masala Dosa.
Idli was extremely soft and slightly big in size in comparison to regular idlis. Sambhar tasted good too. The taste was slight different from the regular sambhar, liked it.
Rava masala was crunchy and yummy. It was accompanied with Tomato chutney and Coconut chutney. Both were tasty.
Do try these. You'll not regret.
Ambience is clean and nice, service was fast too.
Go for an authentic Tamilian cuisine experience!

Nice authentic idli and dosa variety with filter coffee ...not much variety but simple south Indian snacks place ...podi ghee idli is the best we always have
I would rate Vanakkam as one of the best South Indian restaurants in Thane City. You can get anything, from Podi Idli to Uttapam to Masala Roasts. I personally would highly recommend you to try their Ghee Roast, Medu Vada, Mini Meal, Podi Idli and Cheese Roast. They use Amul cheese in the Cheese Roast, which is very appreciable. Service is good, but sometimes when there are a lot of people in the restaurant, your order may take more time than usual. Overall I rate this restaurant 8.5/10.
Nice cozy small authentic south Indian... all the basics were very good, authentic Tamil style Sambhar was a revelation in mumbai where you get to eat sweet Sambhar at most udipis. Dosa, medu vada, idli ... all delicious..
Nice place for quick bite or breakfast.
Menu is small and specific. As the name suggests its South Indian food.
- ghee podi idli was scrumptious 🤤
- pineapple sheera was really good.
- medu wada was also tasty.
- filter coffee is superb.
Non ac cozy sitting.
Outside standing tables if u prefer.
Overall highly recommend it to try it. Food is awesome.
I wanted to try the pure south indian filtered coffee. With my weekend cycling plan I visited the place after cycling to enjoy the ride end with coffee. The taste was top notch. This has become my favourite place in Thane for filter coffee.

Heard a lot about this place and yes it truly lived up to the expectations.
This is hotel located in a quiet location of Hirandani Estate and the ambience on the wall has a traditional art and has a rustic feel to it.
There's a decent sitting arrangement for about 18 people and I feel it is best to have the food out fresh and hot/
- I tried the Classic Kara Podi Onion Roast and Butter Tikka Tomato Garlic Chutney Roast - These two were the best thing we've had.
- Kara Podi Onion Roast had a nicely crisped outer crust with the onion adding the crunch giving it a sweet spicy taste and Podi mixed with butter made it a heavenly bite not even requiring the chutney with it.
- Butter Tikka Tomato Garlic Chutney Roast was even more amazing the tangy taste of tomatoes and the nice mix of garlic chutney in it. The tomato garlic taste is unique and crispiness again makes it a heavenly bite.
The coconut chutney served with it was amazing & simple. Tomato chutney gave a nice tangy flavour and the Sambar was spicy and mild sweet making it a perfect accompaniment with the dosa.
Lastly, I ordered the filter coffee and I loved it coz it was subtle sweet and hint bitter make a perfect concoction for me.
Overall, loved the experience here and the person servicing was proactive and suggested the best dosas to us.
*One note: If you are going for Idlis better to go before 12pm or after 4pm because we could not get it in the afternoon at 2pm since it was either lunch or dosas.
Amongst most South Indian outlets in hiranandani, this one is quite good when it comes to food quality and taste. Service is good but the place is a bit crowded. Amazing experience having dosa, idli, onion uttapam and filter coffee. Pricing is also decent. A must try outlet if you are a South Indian food fan.
