Review Somaa - Visakhapatnam

A premium restaurant in Vizag for some nice food and drinks. Excellent ambiance, good service and the best thing is the cleanliness of the restaurant. The kitchen is visible and that gives you visibility of how your food is prepared. I really liked their Nattukodi fry and Panacotta, which is a must try! The quantity is also excellent. So don’t order multiple dishes without seeing the portion.

The food was mouthwatering, I fell in love with the ambiance, It was pleased,serene and classy, The band and the music did a really good job in satisfying us, It's really topnotch.

Absolutely fantastic place. Food was top notch. Service was very good and quick. The live band that played on the day of my visit took me on a journey. Brilliant guitarist, played some absolute banging riffs. Very enjoyable environment for a group of friends or couples. Don't bring someone for the 1st date though, the music is a bit loud so you won't get to talk to your date as such. (The music is pretty good so maybe you might not want to talk anyway)

Should try fish items, especially Vanjaram fish, my friend liked it.. me being veg liked all veg stuff all... Mr. Sekhar, F&B manager gave us a good suggestions as we are typical hydrabadi's he helped with spl items in their menu. Spl. Thanks to you sekharji.

A nice place to catch up with friends, went on a weekend for the Live Band- the crowd was good. Got to listen to a surprise singer from the crowd and they were splendid. Food wise everything was good, but for the chicken dish- they garnished it with a bit too many Chillies 😛😛

the ambience and food was so good.service was good and the staff was polite. for chinese starters huanhan chicken and valcano chicken are the best and soma special pasta(pasta are closed after certain time)boneless chicken biryani is a must try.and the hot and sour NV soup is a must try one.

Amazing crowd and ambiance. The crew members are super polite and helpful. Starters, desserts and cocktails are a must try. After exploring different clubs in Vizag, I can say SOMAA is one of the best in town 👏

Loved the ambiance and the live music. But only problem I have is that the music is too loud 😃 if you are seated near to band guys. Ordered drinks and started loved every stuff provided by the team. Kudos to team for making my day more memorable. Looking forward to visit this place frequently.

We are regular to this restaurant. One of very few restaurants in Vizag for tasty and quality food with great ambience and “earsplitting” live music. Menu here is like a magazine, never ending variety of continental food. Coming to the food and mocktails. What we loved: Guava Passion - 👌🏼👌🏼 Rightly done for guava lovers Cream of Seafood Soup - 👌🏼👌🏼 Heavenly, go for it if you love sea food Volcano Chicken - 👌🏼 Not consistent though Tawa Fish - 👌🏼 Lil greasy Veg Manchurian - 👌🏼 Egg Biryani - 👌🏼👌🏼 What we liked: Lemon Coriander Soup - 👍🏼 Strong flavors of lemon and coriander American Chopsuey - 👍🏼👍🏼 Dragon Chopsuey - 👍🏼 Chilli Chicken Pasta - 👍🏼 What we disliked: Mango Delight - 👎🏼 Feels like crushed mango bite juice. Syrupy. Shahi Ghost Biryani - 👎🏼👎🏼 Waiter suggested saying it comes with well cooked mutton, tasted okay but the meat was chewy, wouldn’t recommend. They take good amount of time to serve you the dishes. It’s good as they make everything fresh but also take your time. So, come and enjoy waiting and munching. Live music should be soothing and pleasant. But at somaa it’s extremely loud for the premises. You feel like running away as soon as possible. Management doesn’t respond or rectify even after receiving feedback. They don’t understand they are ruining reputation because of that. If you don’t want loud live music, better visit after 3.30pm for peaceful lunch and good food. This restaurant will stay atop in Vizag if they take feedback constructively and improve.

Slightly expensive to what it tastes. Menu card has more pages than my notebook in college. Nice ambiance, live music mostly starts at 8Pm around, avoid cheese balls (starters). I recommend SOMAA (With Friends)7.5/10 Tycon (With family ) 8/10 Paradise ( long long wait time , when I asked for extra roti , waiter directly said it'll take long time ) , Biryani tastes avg 6/10

Everything about, but the prices don't match with the quantity they offer. That kinda felt like a drawback. I've spent around 1k for 2 biriyani's but no one felt full/satisfied. It would be better if the portions are a bigger.

One of the best go to places for dinner and drinks with live music in Visakhapatnam. The staff is friendly and food is served in right time. Food is fresh and tasted really good. If you want taste, ambience and good music, Somaa is perfect.

Happened to go their around 2 PM and as they do not take reservations post 2 PM we had to walk and luckily we got one of the sofa seating free and they allocated that table to us. And live music was still on and we really enjoyed the beats along with the food. Talking about our food this time we tried out 'Tandoori Vanjaram Whole Grilled Fish' - this was really awesome and we just love it. Perfectly fried (not over fried) fish with perfect mix of spices and so soft and juicy (Price at 685 /-) and totally worth the price we pay as we got a big size fish and that itself justifies the cost of the dish. 'Dragon Chicken' - so yumm and delicious but felt that the pieces could have been cut smaller as it was tough to swallow big pieces at a time and also I was told this will be spicy but for my spice level felt like it was regular spice and not on the high side. Quantity was also decent but little bit on the pricey side (Price at 355/-) 'Mutton Kheema Laljwab Biryani' - This one came with freshly prepared biryani rice topped with spicy mutton kheema preparation in ghee and it was so so yummy. The quantity was enough for two people and bit on the pricey side (Priced at 566 /-) Do try their Pinacolada and you will love it! This is the place to go if you want to have a variety of cuisines. The food is delicious but that's not the best part. They have fun live music every day of the week! And great ambience to boot. What more could one ask for?

Somaa Restobar is located at VIP road. We went to this place during the biryani fest. I was so excited to try different types of biryanis on their menu. But I was really disappointed to see the exorbitant prices. Each and every type of biryani costs around 500 rupees, which is too much for me. So finally we had shahigosth biryani, which was really awesome but quantity was very less. Overall I loved this place which has amazing ambience.

Fine dining, bright ambience with 3 sections of seating arrangement(high table for 2 -4 people, comfortable sofa seating for larger groups and private party room).<br/><br/>Live music playing bollywood and western country music.<br/><br/>Usually crowded during weekends so better to reserve a table instead of directly walking in.<br/><br/>Professional staff but Slow service during weekends.<br/><br/>Ordered Somaa spl mushroom, prawn biryani n Veg fried rice n must say portion wise sufficient for two. Not great as expected. Chicken fingers are good, live music is an asset. Ambience is just OK. Bit pricey compares to other in city. Mocktails are waste of money.

There is no proper communication regarding the reservations . If u r out with ur family for a dinner to this place I would suggest you to not go there until they confirm the reservations

Was buzzing with activity when we reached around 9 PM on Friday night. Had to wait for 30 minutes or so to get a seat. Once I get in, I found the decor screaming 'CLASS' from all possible angles. Live music was the icing on the cake.<br/><br/>Now come to the things for which we actually visit a bar/restaurant. Stilling on tall chairs wasn't that comfortable. Though there were nice looking and comfortable sofas around but unfortunately none of them were vacant. I ordered KF Draught and Chicken Wings Biryani. I don't think there is any need to talk about the KF. They serve the Biryani at least after 1 hour!!! Can you believe it? Now come to the taste and portion size. That's beyond my expectations quantity wise. Enough for 2 people with average/below-average appetite like me. But taste wise??? Rice was quite nice with a great aroma of pure ghee but chicken was way too spicy than our likings. The spiciness of chicken pieces just reminded me that am in VIZAG.

Food was great and surprisingly a good place. Restobar may not be the best description for the place. It’s a great family joint with good food and a live band playing great Hindi and Telugu songs. Paneer Finger, Baby Corn Chilly and the Chicken Dragon were tasty. The Ulvacharu Biryani was awesome. Good food but slow service. Nice evening with friends.

I had been to this place earlier and i liked it but, a visit on Saturday afternoon was most disappointing. Most of the things on the menu weren’t available. Beers were warm. Food was cold and raw even after insisting couple of times. I had to face embarrassment as I had few friends from different places visiting Vizag for the first time.

As much amazing as the ambience is.. the food was unfortunately subpar. The menu first of all is extensive. Maybe they should decide on a cuisine and stick to it. After all its a restobar. The food was evidently not fresh, lots of packaged flavours and artificial ingredients for the price they have put up; and the drinks were not so great either (Especially the recommendations from the waiter). The place is cozy to unwind with good live music but then the service and the food will instantly push one towards an unpleasant mood. I don't want to be negative but they need to up their game and match the food and music to the decor and definitely need to change the menu to be out of trouble.

Looking for a loud good food evening? Well, somaa is "The" place you're looking for. Started off with good valet parking service. Great ambience. A very helpful and considerate staff. Talking about the main attraction of the place, the live music. It's great and everything, but being too loud, doesn't let you talk. Food is great, but i felt the service is a little slow.

visited yesterday with family...we all enjoyed the food...ordered manchow veg soup,i dont remember the name of the chicken starter which was wrapped with noodles(not in the menu) mutton meat balls,chilly loose prawns,tawa fish ,chicken wings biryani ....music was toooo toooo loud ....which we didnt like ....!!! all the dishes were delicious !!!

Weekends are overcrowded for a reason. This restobar is good for people of all age groups. Ambience is just perfect. Live music keeps you entertained. Book your table 2 hours prior to visiting.<br/>Food tastes really good. Price is very economic. Quantity is accurate. Service is also nice but takes time on the weekends. Only the Chinese cuisine here needs a little improvisation. Wide range of beverages is also available. <br/>For people like me who do not drink alcohol, I would suggest, you try the vodka with vanilla ice cream. You'll love the taste. I mean, just give it a try here if not anywhere else. I am a beginner, so don't judge, ok? <br/>Overall, great place to spend an evening with your group. You actually won't find time to click pictures of food. Instead, you will be busy clicking your own pictures, since the brightness is perfect. Would love to visit again.

New fine dining place in Vizag. Really liked the live music setting. The band played majorly English music with some Hindi and Telugu songs sprinkled in between. But the real highlight was the biryani. Do try it when you visit this place.

I moved to vizag earlier this year, and this place has being my unquestioned watering hole. The food is, especially the starters, have not dissapointed me ever. But the real gems are the bartenders who make excellent cocktails and the live music and the ambience it provides. It has definitely made me a regular

Was here for lunch today, it has good ambience cozy interiors and classic Bollywood songs at the backdrop. The food was pretty good a bit pricey but was worry it<br/>We ordered :<br/>Soups :manchau soup (were avg)<br/>Starters :kung pao chicken, Thai chi chicken, spinach cheeseballs, malai kabeb, chilli panner , pepper chicken (all tasted good)<br/>Main course : somma spcl chicken pizza, chilli chicken pasta and Soma spcl chicken biryani(nothing special regular chicken cheese pizza) ,some naan and paneer malai tikka<br/>Mocktails : blue lagoon, Oreo punch, strwabeery tangin, mango shake<br/>Overall good experience to hangout

Until, today’s dinner I was proud to share the word around that Vizag hosts such a wonderful place, as a travel and food blogger myself. But, this is ridiculously disappointing that the restaurant staff do not have the minimum respect to the customer to advice on the portion size. What kind of service is this in the hospitality industry who do not realise the number of guests on the table dining and serve marginal quantity. It takes minimum effort for the manager to train their staff accordingly. <br/>Really disappointed and turns out that a restaurant of this capacity is still a dream for Vizagites. <br/>PS - Guys choose your food wisely, cause the staff isn’t well versed. A lot more disappointing things, but this being the apex of them, just wanted the manager to be aware of how his team performs. <br/>However, no problem at all with the ambience or the live music!

Disastrous. Not only did the waiter provide wrong information about the ingredients in a dish, so did their over-confident manager. Restaurant staff is expected to know the menu and what the food consists of. Don’t lie to your customers and don’t answer questions if you don’t know the answer..it’s simple. On top of this terrible service, the food is very subpar. Do not waste your time here.

The ambience is awesome and the service is great. The food is very good too. The live music is the highlight of the place. The singers are brilliant with their excellent mix of Telugu, Hindi and English songs. A whopping 4 for these guys 😄

Been here twice and it was a delightful experience both the times. Being from Pune, Somaa is the recluse that I wanted which makes me feel closer to home. Good food and great drinks. The Bartender named Durga is amazing and super helpful in making u choose or mixing up a perfect drink for u. Courteous staff, Great decor and soothing music is what adds icing on d cake. Overall great place to visit. Weekends r crowded so weekdays r pleasurable.

Everything is out standing. But the servicing is totally opposite. If Somma Restobar loose its fame means servicing will the ultimate reason.

Nice ambience. Best part is the live music otherwise I would have given 3 stars and the food is ok but not authentic. We had ordered cheese, pineapple n cherry sticks which had a small piece of pineapple, one cherry and a cube of processed cheese on each stick. I didn't expect to have raw processed cheese on a toothpick at the price quoted. Second we had ordered pad thai which again was cooked like Hakka noodles with veggies. Third was cottage cheese dumplings which tasted good but there wasn't any dip as accompaniment when asked some mayonnaise was served with it. Improving the food quality and including more professional staff could do wonders for the place.

Decor is good.....only decor<br/><br/>The service is poorest, i have ever seen. <br/><br/>1. on being seated, immediately, a person came with the menu and asked to give order..LOL..(i had not yet opened the menu]. i told him to give me five minutes....then he disappeared for, what 15 minutes and we kept searching for him....for ages<br/><br/>2. we had to call a server to take our order.<br/><br/>3. we ordered three drinks. the server came and DUMPED, really, DUMPED the drinks on the sides of our table even after asking us whose drinks these three drinks were (it should have been placed in front of the respective person. <br/><br/>4. then three dishes on the menu were ordered. After about 15 minutes, one dish is served, no DUMPED (AGAIN), on the table and the server left.<br/><br/>5. then i requested the person on the computer ( i guess thats where the orders are placed to the kitchen) to let me speak to the manager, if there is one. a person is suit came and then i asked him if my order for three dishes are separate or will it be served together as we all (the family) would like to eat together. the manager went into the kitchen and then comes out and moves to rear of the bar counter, away from me. again i asked one server to call the manager. now a second server shouts at me to state that food has been served, Lo and Behold, a second dish has arrived. Only the cook and server knows, now, about the third dish. now a new gentleman arrives on the scene. he is courteous, well mannered and soft spoken. he enquires, and then the third dish arrives...by this time about 15 more minutes have passed and the first dish has gone cold....<br/><br/>6. during this time, one server dramatically appeared, picked up one glass (not being used by us) from our table and went and kept it on someone else's table, as if its saving on travel time to pantry to pick up another glass or the resto-bar has been upgraded from a DHABA.<br/><br/>The less said about the live band, the better<br/><br/>7. THIS PROVES THAT AMBIENCE ALONE CANNOT GET YOU BUSINESS. <br/><br/>8. few suggestions \:<br/><br/>- hire more servers<br/><br/>-train the staff<br/><br/>- keep sufficient crockery and cutlery<br/><br/>- know your stuff in resto-bar <br/><br/>I, for one, would not like to go back again......thank you

Omg I love this place. Everything is so lively & positive about this place. Food, drinks, staff & music everything is great. <br/>Weekend is the best time to visit. Keep up the good work. Vizag need such kinda restaurant.

Nice place to drink and chill with the live music.<br/>The band is the best I've come across.<br/>Starters are good but very limited choices.<br/>Drinks are so good but I couldn't find what I was looking for - Martini Bianco. They do have it in their menu, but not in the bar. It's okay.<br/>A best suggested place to chill but not so good for family talks.<br/><br/>Drinks/Food that I felt were awesome:<br/><br/>Manhattan - Amazing authentic Manhattan!<br/>Lemon Margarita - So good!<br/>Dragon chicken - Hell yeah! So good. I wish I could have it everyday!<br/><br/>Things I wish were better:<br/>Singapore sling - Pineapple juice did not felt fresh. It kind of spoiled the taste of the drink.<br/><br/>Disgusting thing:<br/>The bartender tasted the cocktail while making with a spoon and dipped the same spoon again in the drink after dipping it in water for a second.

This restaurant is everything it advertised itself to be. It's quite a classy place with good music, well crafted drinks and pretty good food. Probably the best cocktails in Vizag. The restaurant is a bit pricey for Vizag, but I wouldn't go here for an inexpensive meal. <br/><br/>I am not sure I liked the crowd, but that was a month ago. Things might've changed a little.

it's the perfect place for everyone as they have good range not only in food varaities but also in drinks.it is a place that one can look for a family dinner in a peaceful ambience and food also tastes good. we have live music over here which is the only first place to have a live music in vizag.and also the cost is also resonable....the staff were also polite and friendly .....

The newest place in town! This restobar is located on VIP road, at the heart of the city. We went there on a Saturday night. It was crowded, and there was a live band playing - Kairos. The fabulous ambience, great music, impeccable service and good food made our evening. <br/><br/>we ordered a tricolor mocktail and KF beer, which was very good. We started with fish tikkas and dumplings. The tikkas were fabulous, melt in you mouth fish with a good marinade and perfect seasoning. The dumpling, I would rather they name it veg cheese balls. The filling was covered with bread crumbs and deep fried. But it tasted good nevertheless. For main course we ordered Pad Thai Noodles. A thumbs up to that. 👍🏻 the meal ended with a walnut brownie and vanilla ice cream. <br/><br/>This place is highly recommended for a nice evening.

I visited this place for couple of times..! This is the best place I had ever visited in vizag for food and alcohol..!! Ambience was excellent..! Staff were very friendly...live music was awesome!!! Best place to have some good food and peace with frnds..!!
