Visited 1st time after the relocation to this restaurant. The food was fine and it didn't vary much from the last time we visited. However, we were disappointed with service. We had to ask multiple time to get things served. The place looks pretty neat and clean and not much crowded.
Very good ambience. Food quality was also good. Service is also great. Overall good experience.
So finally got a chance to visit the relocated / renovated Herbs & Spices. Without more let’s get into the review.
Ambiance : when you enter same old rustic furniture with a contemporary modern look. It really wowed us. The place feels very open and airy and cozy. There wasn’t any special greeting but it was a public holiday and we were early as usual. Not much of a crowd.
Service : we were served by Kiran a smiling face and he recommended dishes which were yet to come but we took the menu to mix and match. Now let’s get into food
Palak Corn Ki Tikki : perfectly blended palak with couple of corn kernels. Mild spicy but perfectly well balanced. Each bite would melt in the mouth. Rating 4/5
Dakhni Murg Kebab : boneless chicken pieces well marinated with yoghurt and spices with a hint of curry leaf flavoring. Perfectly cooked, juicy and delightful. Enjoyed with mint chutney. Rating 4/5
These were the starters and for main course we went for the below.
Appams with Chicken Stew (Boneless) : succulent pieces of chicken perfect blend in a thick coconut gravy with slightly spices and a hint of pepper along with the sweetness of the coconut was a delight to eat. The appams edges were a bit tough could have been a bit soft. PS : Since appams are rice base keep in mind they will be heavy. My rating would vary so for Appam 2.5/5 and Chicken Stew 3.5/5.
We also ordered one Lassi and Peach Iced Tea. Both were awesome on their own. Would rate both of them 4/5.
Overall, what is missed was a beer or wine to enjoy the meal. Kiran did mention that they have applied for Wine license. They have a party hall and they do catering service. I would definitely recommend this place if you are ok without Alcohol. In terms of service, ambiance and overall feel of the place my rating would be 5/5.
Finally with all the above and a missing point of no alcohol would slightly reduce my rating but let me keep that side. Just for food and it’s overall pricing and taste 4/5.
The food was nice although slightly on the expensive side. The atmosphere and the ambiance was good. The service was ok too.
We started with Palak Corn Ki Tikki, which was delicious and paired it with some great sides. For the main course, we savored Appam with Veg Chettinad, which was absolutely finger-licking good. The ambiance was pleasant, and it wasn't too crowded; there were plenty of tables available
We had an amazing New Year's Eve at Herbs & Spices. They had a wide variety of delicious food and the live saxophone performance by M S Subhalakshmi was a beautiful addition. The midnight fireworks display was fantastic, and the surprise gift was a wonderful gesture and a delightful token to remember the evening by. The staff were friendly and ensured that every guest felt welcomed and attended to.
The combination of delectable cuisine, enchanting musical performance, stunning fireworks, and thoughtful gestures made it a celebration to remember. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience, especially for special occasions like New Year's Eve.
A cozy, quaint hidden gem with aesthetic ambience and good music. The place was mostly empty for a Friday afternoon. The food however was good. Their Corn and spinach Croquettes are a must try. The price is also reasonable - a meal for 2 with soup(1/2), a starter, appams and veg stew, it costed ~Rs.1100 Their customer service was too good. The gentleman who waited our table was very warm and courteous. Overall, a good experience- more like a private dining space due to lesser crowd.
Shifting from their previous place .. this is so much more concise..
Loved the openness of this place.. bright and airy .. not too much of decor to take your eyes away from the clean and spacious interior..
Table settings.. very neat and precise ..
The menu has a decent amount of items .. so choosing for vegetarian or non vegetarian is not so much of a hinder..
Orders taken ..and the order did not take too long to arrive..
Food served.. hot and yummy.. we were full after the lunch but not heavy in the tummy.
The staff were pleasant and helpful all the while..
Parking along its outer wall and on the opposite side of the road.
PS:-Oooo please see to the mosquitoes under the table..
New location but the same taste and better service, the menu has some more options too. The owner Paddy is the best known in this industry in this area, a veteran indeed. We loved it, visited 3 times during our recent India visit. Thank you Paddy for your services, congratulations to the team for the new location
A must go place if you are looking for tasty food and good service restaurant. They used to offer buffet before covid but it's Ala carte now. Highly recommended.
Update 17 Sept 22
Revisited for lunch. Food is tasty and service is top notch.
Update 15 Jul 23
They have relocated on Hagdur road. This place has more seating but the touch of backyard and vintage house is missing. Parking is also limited. Food is still good though.
