Had been here a couple of times hearing great things about this restaurant.
The first time had been here with my family and the place was quite buzzing. The food was really nice and we had a great time.
The second time we had a mix up in our dishes, but the restaurant was quite apologetic and were courteous enough to waiver off the dishes from the bill.
Overall a nice place.
One weekend we decided to enjoy some good Punjabi style meal. And we choose oye Amritsar at J.P Nagar. It's generally crowded on weekends but we were lucky enough to get table within 10 mins of waiting.
The inside is dim lit ambience with one glass through which you can the see the outside beauty.
The staffs are friendly and helpful. They take care of all your requests.
Coming to food it heavenly we ate so much that my stomach was about to explode😅. And above that patiala style lassi🤩.
Some of the dishes we tried
Masala papad
Hara bhara kabab
Dal makhani
Very nice food and service
👍Ambience👍 - The restaurant which is situated on the second floor has yellow soothing lighting. They have wooden chairs and table for dining. The walls are filled with Punjabi Slangs but the music is not Punjabi. They serve the food in steel plates
Staff - Staff is polite and courteous but the service is very slow. They are well dressed but not in ethnic Punjabi dress.
👎Offers & Service Charge👎 - 1. The restaurant is not accepting Magicpin discount Voucher displayed in Magicpin app.
2. Do the Dineout app booking before coming to the restaurant, otherwise the staff will eat your brains out.
3. The restaurant don't inform about service charge prior to billing which is unethical. As a customer, you have legal right to refuse paying service charge even after the bill with service charge included is generated.
Food - The food decently matches to the Punjabi cuisine and is not too spicy. Although they use synthetic food colour in dishes which is not a healthy option. Unlike other Punjabi restaurants they don't onions with the dishes. Rather the restaurant charges a whooping Rs 75 for 6 round slices on onion in the name of green salad.
1. Sarson ka Saag ( Main Course ) 😋 - The saag was creamy, leafy and has decent taste of mustard tadka or flavoring. You can good taste of Punjabi spices but they will not overpower the dish.
Rating - 3.5/5
2. Makke ki Roti ( Breads ) - The roti is soft and has taste of corn flour. But the flour seemed to be mixed with normal wheat flour. They had unsalted butter although it was expected to use traditional home-made white color butter.
Rating - 3.5/5
3. Amritsari Kulcha - The kulcha is soft, well baked in Tandoor. Although the potato filling is bit bland.
Rating - 3/5
3. Mushroom Tikka (Starter) - The grilled mushroom has smoky flavor and has filling of cottage cheese or paneer masala. It has good flavor spice. The only drawback was the synthetic food color added to the dish.
Rating - 3.5/5
4. Lassi - The lassi is thick, mild sour, creamy and is rich in dry fruits. It's not too sweet but lacks the taste of tradtional Punjabi makhan or butter.
Rating - 3.5/5
5. Pickle and Coriander Chutney - The pickle has homely taste and is too spicy. The coriander chutney has good balance of curd, coriander and spices.
Rating - 3.5/5
Recommendations to the restaurant -
1. Use organic ingredients for your dishes.
2. Avoid non biodegradable like plastic, they are killing the earth.
3. Don't use synthetic food color. They are not healthy.
4. Use white color home made butter, not the one purchased from market.
5. Your toilet's sink is messy. Keep it clean. For a moment I lost all the appetite for the food after seeing those things.
6. The staff should wear ethnic Punjabi dress to improve the ambience.
7. Keep indoor plants in restaurant.
8. You can serve water infused with basil, mint and lemon in glass water bottles. It acts as good appetizer.
9. If you are not giving any offer on Magicpin or Dineout, getting it removed. Don't mislead the customers. I had to reason with your half an hour on this issue.
10. You should inform about the service charge in the menu itself. Remember a customer has legal right to refuse service charge.
Being a big punjabi cuisine fan, I have been to different punjabi restaurants and different Oye Amritsar outlets. So I choose this outlet for a family dinner. I was quite disappointed about the quality of taste and the speed of service when compared to its other outlets. But overall I enjoyed the food. I loved their Aloo kulcha and Chicken.
Hey!
Had been here to have a vegetarian lunch and I just loved this restaurant and it's taste.
We ordered kadai paneer and malai kofta subji along with rotis and naan. Both the subjis were amazing especially the malai kofta.
