This restaurant, established in 1954, offers a clean and simple ambiance. However, the food is truly outstanding. Each bite is a delightful experience, with flavors that are simply amazing. While it can get quite crowded at times, the wait is undoubtedly worth it. If you're seeking an authentic South Karnataka dish this is the place to be. We tried Masala dosa (10/10) green masala idly (10/10) Madurai podi idly (9/10) Gulab jamun (9/10) champakali (9/10) filter coffee (10/10)☕️ They welcome you with warm water I truly enjoyed every dish we tried, but if you're looking for the absolute best, I highly recommend the green masala idly and masala dosa. They are my all-time favorites, and you won't be disappointed. "Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. I hope you found them helpful. It's important to keep in mind that these are my personal food preferences, and the food's flavor can vary from day to day, possibly even improving or changing over time."

The Iconic Veg Restaurant in Malleswaram which served it's Patrons for 69 years. Their signature dishes like Neer Dosa, Button Idli, Bonda Soup,Rava Dosa, Podi Idli, among the Best in Town. Can't forget to mention their Strong Filter Coffee. Exceptional service by the staff adds to the atmosphere. Sad to know they are closing down the existing place... Only Hoping to see it spring back in a new place and a New Avatar but with the same Dishes.

Good food and good taste. 70years old restaurant. Iconic Malleswaram eatery New Krishna Bhavan to close next week (6Dec of 2023) The very Famous “New Krishna Bhavan ನ್ಯೂ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಭವನ” Since 1954 Green masala dose Rave dose Onion dose Bonda soup Masala dose Yumm yummyyyy After nearly 70 years of serving affordable vegetarian fare from Karnataka’s South Kanara, New Krishna Bhavan will shut up. After nearly 70 years of serving affordable vegetarian fare from Karnataka’s South Kanara – from button idlis and dosas of every stripe to a jowar dosa named after Kannada writer V K Gokak – New Krishna Bhavan will down its shutters on December 5. The news has saddened long-time customers, many of whom took to social media to pay tribute. Very less parking space.

The last few days has been all about the shutting down of the iconic NKB, Malleshwaram. While we are all sad and upset with the shutting down of a legend, we should also ensure that no more icons go the NKB way... It's our duty to support them, help them sustain and flourish... Many never changed, till today sell the same good old dose... Have not added the pudi ammunition to their menu. One such good old eatery has been Namma Janata Hotel on Malleshwaram 8th cross. Quite the unsung hero, standing strong amidst a slew of newbies all around. The place goes about doling out it's usual dare since the past five decades or so, unfluttered by competition and the one saying " it isn't what it was" most of the times even without visiting the place. Janata hotel on 8th cross as it's famously known ( no need to mention Malleshwaram here as there's only one 8th cross in the whole wide world of a Bengalurian, and it's in Malleshwaram). Started with a gheelicicious kesari bath, the ghee was the binding agent here in this case and wasn't overflowing all over. Dotted by kismis was a perfect start. Then came in the idli vade dippu, we Bengalurians order dippu, as a time pass till the real hero the Dose arrives. The sambar was typical Bengaluru...had notes of sweetness to it, not too strong but beautifully subtle. Melt in the mouth idli and a crisp vade made it a perfect pair. Then came in the dose, the dish for which Janata is known for. Crisp, long, filling and a treat in itself. The palya too stood out. Sadly this dose never got the eyeballs it deserved. It's has a quintessential Bengaluru vibe. No pudi, no tuppa... One could relish the after taste of the mild sourness of the batter after a bite. Thats what makes a great dose. Ended it All with an ultra strofilter kaapi and then a mandatory stroll on the 8th main. A beautiful old world vive envelopes you, thru the meal. Not just the food, but the feel, the aroma and the vibes. Time for Bengaluru to relish, celebrate and retain many such institutions such as NKB, let's start with Janata... See you on 8th main.

Not a local Bangalorean, but my boyfriend had spent his time here as a kid and wanted to share this memory with me as this place is bound to shut down, soon. As I stood in the queue among others, on Sunday morning...was able to hear bits of stories of people sharing their profound memories here with the current generation.😁 Truly, amazed by the waiters ability to remember multiple people's food orders. Had an amazing time relishing, the Green Idli Masala, Rava Podi Dosa and cup of tea/coffee (served in white porcelain cups and saucers). Bidding adieu to this legendary place. Thank you, for your service 🙏

Visited this iconic restaurant with origins from my hometown for one last time before it closes forever. Had green masala idli and their other must try dishes. I wish and hope the promoters continue their culinary tradition for people at a new place in Bengaluru.

It's one of iconic place which kindles my childhood memory. Hasn't changed much, feels stepping into past. The menu is slightly different. There are weekend special and special on each day also everyday specials. Really like neer dosa, button idli also other stuff. Must visit atleast once. I transact via cash though can pay through QR just to get old vibe

What a tasty food! Each dish is a delight to the soul. Green Masala Idli is a must try. Bit expensive but every penny worth the taste!

Visited this restaurant after 13 years and was surprised to find it essentially unchanged. The decor and ambiance hearken back to Bangalore from many decades ago and so does the warm and friendly service. (Prices are solidly from 2023 but one can't have everything). The restaurant is right opposite Mantri mall but since the main entrance is on the cross road, it is easy to miss it from the Sampige main road. The main hall is non-A/C flanked by a party hall and an A/C service hall (called 'Gopika') on either side. They heavily advertise their 'unusuals', which are special menu items, mostly derived from traditional Udupi cuisine, that are hard to find in other restaurants in Bangalore. Tried the 'green masala idlis', mini idlis that are fried and served in a spinach-based gravy, and I have to say that I'm won over. The masalas are reminiscent of Indo-Chinese dishes and coupled with humble idlis that transform into gourmet avatars when fried, this is definitely a must-try.
