Preferred place for those who love less spicy biryani.and who want try 1908 old biryani.and bit crowdy place
SG Rao's Military Hotel is almost 100 years old. We were hyped after seeing the youtube videos. We visited the place and ordered the soup which was okay ( salt was low ), then we ordered the chicken and mutton palav which were great with korma then the sides which were chilly chicken, mutton chops, mutton keema balls, their special chicken and mutton dishes. The sides were amazing. So overall the food and service was great and it opens at 6 AM so go early or you might have to wait in line.
Value for Money.. Mild spice biriyani, tastes really good.
Had been here once.. as its a famous place..
Tried plain-pulav served with sharwa , which was good..
The mutton leg soup was quite good.. (am not an ideal person who can review mutton soups as I have limited experience on the same )
The mutton-udayagiri fry was par excellence ..
Must visit place for anyone who loves mutton dishes..
Will try other mutton dishes later and review the same ..
Thanks and regards,
Hemanth
One of the legendary places in Bangalore. Having a history of 110 odd years serving biriyani.
I had been to this place on a Sunday morning, yes morning. As they serve their biriyani staring at about 6 in morning.
Tried the mutton dum biriyani, chicken biriyani, paya soup or kaal soup, chicken pepper and idly.
Really loved the piping hot paya soup here.
Mutton biriyani and chicken biriyani both had pretty much the same taste apparently as it's same masala used. Only the meat rendered taste was a difference.
Idly was piping hot and soft. Chicken pepper roast with idly worked magic in the pallete.
Waiting to go again with a gang of friends for a biriyani breakfast here.
Mutton biryani was tasting good, paaya soup was not that as good as expected, pepper chicken was also good.
Mutton biryani - 8/10
Paaya soup - 5.5/10
Pepper chicken - 6.5/10
Visited after hearing and reading a lot about S G Rao military hotel... must say they lived up to the expectations!!!! I ordered Mutton pulav and pepper chicken they were both out of the world!!! Quality of the meats and rice flavour were top notch...Very quick service and food was served piping hot!!!! It’s s bit of a challenge to get to this place but it was worth it!!!

This place has the most mouth watering pulav starters and more..
Made a vlog here you can check that out on my channel for better review..
They serve you quick and tasty traditional food which you must try if you are around the area.
Mutton pulav and chicken pulav is great tastes so good..
Mutton starters also very good..
Delicious koli pulav Person should try mutton fry, green chicken.person who like spicy food should go for mutton pepper.place is very near to cotton pet police station.try to come in bikes , getting a 4 wheels parking is a tough job
Decent place, nothing extra, nothing less. We visited this place on a weekday in the evening when it was raining, so the restaurant was empty and the food tasted extra delicious. The biriyani is no doubt absolutely amazing if you're into the typical naati style biriyani.
The service time is pretty fast, and there's a wide range of menu items. The biryani is served in leaves which really adds to the whole experience. Moreover, the prices are extremely reasonable and worth it.
The ambience is average, and the place is clean. The approach is difficult in cars, but easy on two wheelers. Walkable distance from the nearest metro.
Delicious non-veg dishes, diverse menu, great quality, and friendly service. Highly recommended for meat lovers!
I would say this is one such old iconic place . Yes biryani is good, tastes good and so light. Isn’t full of masala so feels good. I tasted chicken biryani, it’s 190 bucks and the quantity was good for that price. Pepper chicken tasted just ok ok nothing great.
The only thing is reaching this place. Do not go here in car. Prefer bike and do not get irritated with the traffic. Roads to reach here are terrible.
Over all a pleasant experience
Best place to visit for lunch or brunch..
The paluo is awesome and easily one can trust the food and have with no any worry about tasting powder or unhygienic
I have personally been here twice and tasted the food it’s awesome and only concern is it’s at a peak area opposite road of police station.
Road is always crowded and no place for parking car.
Best is to go in bike or take a metro
From metro station they charge minimum auto fare to this place
Families are also welcomed
For all spicy food lovers, a must visit local joint located deep in the heart of the city. The food here is a good to test your spicy level.
There is something about the biryani , it taste different and good , the way they serve in the leaf is just amazing maybe that adds up to the taste . With that said , I also loved the pepper chicken dry .
Please try both the biryanis, Red mutton fry
Mutton kheema and green chicken are must if you happen to visit.
Amazing military hotel food just loved it.
They are serving since 1908 a must visit place for nonveg lovers. Prices are bit high but its a worth for the taste.
Off Late I'm Seeing Lot Of Hype On Hotels Selling Biryani Around 5 AM But This Hotel Which Is Operating Since 1908 Have Been Serving Biryani And Other Items Everyday At 6AM & I Have Been Visiting This Place From Past 2½ Decades & The Taste, Quality & Quantity Hasn't Come Down A Bit, They Serve Hot Hot "GOOEY BIRYANI" & Other Mutton & Chicken Side Dishes At 6AM Everyday ... Green Chicken And Pepper Chicken Was Toooo Good Also Mutton Liver Fry, Mutton Chops & Kaima Balls Are Awesome. U Can Try Any Dishes & All The Masala & Taste Would Be Different & Excellent.
Taste - 9/10
Service - 9/10
Place - 9/10
