The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed the special home Made drinks, the Smoked pork and the rice beer ,and The interior was great .The food was fresh, properly prepared and a great value for the price. We highly recommend it.
Amazing place, ambience and food... Victor is amazing and just get on to do his best to make his guest feel special. Anukur the guy was so humble... Amazing place and definitely worth a place I am gona go every time possible. These guys are amazing!!! Haven't seen such a place in long time. You guys are simply AWESOME
Place is cozy, if you really love northeast food, this is one of best place to fill your hunger.👍 food is home
I just love this place for the ambience and the rice beer , the food is also worth the price and the portion quantity is worth it, I always make sure I visit this place when I'm in Bangalore
I LOVE North-Eastern food, and have ended up going to Somilan two Saturdays in a row. Victor always ensures what we want is available even on short notice. Gonmei will make you comfortable, ensure the dish is as per your appetite for chilli and plays some good music too! If you're looking for great quality, authentic Naga and Manipuri cuisine - Somilan Steak House will deliver, every time. Excellent service. Excellent food! Can't wait to visit again.
Church Street it may be in, but you gotta get up a crooky stairwell to get to Somilan. That being done, the lovely staff are ready to immediate;y assist you.
The ambience felt slightly outdated and dark, but comfortable enough. It isn't a large establishment, so I'm sure peak hours could mean a very tight squeeze.
The food here was lovely. I'd especially recommend the Nasi Goreng, and their stir-fries. I found it to be worth the tab as well.
Good Asian Cuisine is a tough catch, glad to have this one on the shelf.
Well, the first time I ate their food was at their North East Food fest and I was extremely disappointed at how it tasted and the pricing. But later got to know that most of the food prepared was my volunteers and others. So, forgiven.
Now for the good bit, when we actually visited the place, the food was bloody awesome. Everything we ordered was lip smackingly good. We ordered a wide range of food from across the menu including a steak and their rice brew.
We were a group of three but we ate as much for a group of 6, it was THAT good. And pricing was really reasonable as well considering that their portion sizes are very generous.
The ambiance is really warm, modern, and a few touches of Naga culture. Service was very fast and the staff were really great. A shout out to them for sure.
Best northeast food in town 😌
Very polite and friendly waiters! Amazing experience
Step out from the Church Street exit at MG Road metro station and you'll find yourself outside Somilan.
I had been hearing good things about this place so I was interested to see how the food was. The restaurant opens only at 1 PM, so don't assume getting there earlier will help. We learned that the hard way.
The interiors are decorated with photos from Northeast India and chairs draped with traditional tribal designs. Though the room is not very big, space has been used well to accommodate big groups and couples.
We took a table overlooking Church street, all though we could not see the street below.
The menu is interesting, to say the least. There are veg options, steaks, Chinese dishes, and Naga and Manipuri cuisine.
We ordered Shinju (Manipuri veg salad), Smoked Beef, Ironba (Mashed potato salad), Fresh pork curry with bamboo shoot, Fresh pork curry with roasted sesame seeds, steamed rice, and a cup of rice beer. We also ordered a bowl of egg-fried rice for my niece who was with us.
The food did not take very long to arrive and the waiters were quite helpful.
My personal favorite was the pork with bamboo shoot curry, but all the dishes were tasty. Maybe the next time I visit, I will try some of the other dishes on the menu.
The bill came to Rs. 2,669 without service charge.
Staff are polite and if you want to enjoy naga cuisine then this is the place to visit in Bangalore 🤗😁
The Bangalore Food Harem
+4
Probably one place you shouldn’t judge by its name. It’s very clearly not a steakhouse. However, please do put this on your bucket list if you wanna try some authentic Naga and Assamese food. From Axiomi to Dried Fish chutney; from lentils to smoked pork; this place really offers some decent options. We must add that they have an amazing array of steamed dumplings that really hit the spot. If you are feeling experimental, look out for the snails. They are seasonal so you wouldn’t always be too lucky.
I tried my first pork baby back ribs here and I'm glad I chose this place. The steak was well done and bone off tender. The waiters were really professional.
We even ordered a chicken fried rice. It was a bit bland even though we asked it to be spicy. We added a bit of salt and pepper and it was much better.
The wine is amazing as well. Would definitely be my go to place if I want to try steak again.
All I can say about this place is that they have got the best north eastern food. Thukpa served there is so awesome that I went again just to have it again. The taste is irresistible with its super affordable prices. Both quantity and quality of the food will woo you for sure. The interiors are typical naga style with naga ancestors photographs which gives it a tribal look. Being a north eastern I just loved this place but I am sure you will like it too, just have a try. They have also got great beverages which taste wonderful, goes well with the food.
The quality of food is good but the quantity is bad. But still cant complain as the priced are cheap when compared to the rest of the steak houses in the neighborhood. The ambiance is good but the the place is too dim and cozy. Could have improved the lighting and the tables are close to each other so as to improve the number of customers dining at once. A table or two can be reduced in order to give the right own of privacy to neighborhood tables .
Located in the famous church street, this place is must try if u r looking to have some unique food dishes. First of the place is small and ambiance is nothing to look forward to. Gets very dark at night.
Place is pretty good to huukah and grab a snack, and would highly recommend the huukah here.
Coming to the food they have a wide variety of food ranging for chicken to snails.
I tried the snails for the first time and it was actually very good. I would highly recommend this.
All the other items from chicken to beef to shrimps were also good.
Please do try it out, they even have silk worms and other crazy things 🤣
I have been a regular visitor of Somilan for almost 5yrs now.. its the go to place for the college gang. Amazing north eastern delicacies, wine and rice beers.
Cut short to 2020 they have stopped the rice beer and home made wines but the food still remains the same. Tasty and brilliant choices from different cuisines.
Do visit If you wanna taste some good old Manipuri or Naga dishes.
1st time visit on Sunday and what a find ....
Service is not the fastest, but the wait is more than compensated with the flavours of the food. The waiters, are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu, so you can be confident of the menu items
One of the most varied selection of Naga foods I have come across outside the NE.
A gloomy stairway opening up to this amazing place. 2 floors of delicious North Eastern cuisine. Mouthwatering dishes and huge quantity will definitely satisfy anyone. Zomato Gold is a cherry on top.
Nice place to quench your steak cravings. The place is a little small but they have both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a variety of steaks and the servers are knowledge about what sauce goes with which sauce. Always ask them before ordering if you are new to the steak scene. I would recommend you to try out pork ribs. Do try out their rice beer too.
The best north east indian food I've had in Bangalore. Don't get dissuaded by the how broken down and dingy the entrance looks, the restaurant isn't that fancy either. Service is also a bit slow, but the food is super delicious. I love north eastern food, and this tasted very authentic to me .the pork ribs ( I tried the one with terriyarki sauce was out of the world...the way pork is cooked in North eastern cusine is amazing. Also delicious was their rice and smoked pork in bamboo shoot curry (the smoked flavor was wonderful). Definitely a must visit place in the city
