The Tingling Taste Buds

Previously known as Divo Café & Bar, Desi Kitchen, located in Calangute is an upmarket street food joint that caters to it's customers with some delicious and hygienic food. It's a spacious restaurant with a ground plus 1 seating. Parking could be an issue here as the restaurant is located on one of the busy Calangute roads. That being said, it has a cozy vibe with modern interiors. The only let down though were the staff, who weren't well trained and hence had difficulties in answering our queries.
We tried: Vanilla Chocolate Shake, Shikanji, Vegetable and Chicken Momos, Dahi Pucka Chaat, Chole Bhature, Butter Chicken and Dum Aloo Punjabi with Lachcha Paratha
The shake is simple and mainly consists of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Having said that, we would've preferred some more chocolate flavor. Shikanji is a traditional lemonade from Punjab. Apart from the main ingredients of a lemonade, Shikanji consists of chaat masala. We really liked this unique combination.
Who doesn't love a plate of momos? A traditional delicacy from the North East which is now quite popular in Goa. We ordered both, vegetable and chicken momos. As you can see in the pictures, the momos were well stuffed with a thin wrapping. Both the momos were juicy and delicious. The typical sev puri with dahi. Two things that we absolutely loved; one, the puris used were good sized and round, and two, all the puris were well stuffed. But we wished the dahi used was a little sweet, as it would've added more flavor.
Desi Kitchen is definitely one of the very few places in Goa that gives complete justice to Chole Bhature. Two more popular north Indian dishes which we absolutely devoured. Although the gravies look quite similar in the pictures, in reality there was a difference in the flavors. The chicken pieces were cooked perfectly but the cashew paste overpowered the flavors. Dum aloo on the other hand was spot on. Aloo stuffed with paneer and served in a delicious Indian gravy. The lachcha parathas made using wheat flour were layered parathas with a crispy and flakey, yet soft texture which made a perfect accompaniment to the two gravy dishes.

One of the best places to have authentic desi food, the place surely does justice to its name and delivers bang on flavours and is budget friendly on the party street of calangute- baga road.
the dum aloo punjabi was my favourite which had a rich gravy and balanced combination of spices..
i would also highly recommend the moong dal halwa which was served piping hot and was garnished handsomely with dryfruits also the melt-in-your-mouth gulab jamun was a consolation prize to end my perfect dinner date 🥰
The interior is delightful.
Excellent ambiance for a reasonable price. I found the rest rooms are also pretty clean. You can try ready-to-eat food or drink typically sold by a vendor on a
Dessi restaurant a classy combination of wide variety of street food and authentic cuisine..
