Was in here for Dakshin Routes a curated collection of South Indian delicacies. For the first time in a buffet, I got to try new dishes few which stood out were
Ulundu Kali - a rounded dessert which was very soft while tasting great, there was another dish placed near to it that had a more sweet taste to it which I could not find the display name.
Kambankool - it was served in a smaller version of the pot which had a bland taste
Vegetarian sides - they had so many vegetarian dishes where many sides tasted delicious.
The only gripe was the number of non-vegetarian dishes/ desserts were less.

How can i not do the dakshin route, specially when i have been in search for some good non vegetarian food in Tamilnadu!
The story starts with the Dakshin Routes the food festival at Spice Jar!
Must say i am not a buffet person at all! But this one is totally curated keeping in mind their regular guest as well as the festival. Me like always, opted for only the festival specials.
Must say the best that i had in recent days! Chef Vellaisamy Ganesh and team have done a fantastic job. The spices and flavours are something very unique and full of flavour!
Special mention to the massi gose bonda (dry Tuna ) balls, it was unique.
The valliyur zamin erachi curry ( mutton curry) had some subtle yet amazing flavour.
The fish curry and biryani totally bowled us!
The savouries and sweets were authentic and totally yummy! Please note the dessert counter has other items too!
Since the appam festival is on too. We got to try this awesome appam combo. Mallipoo appam (Jasmine flavoured appam) was soft and ful of flavour this was served with kheema and sweet coconut milk! One of the best and least expensive!
The festival is on till 17th November for lunch and dinner!

Dakshin Routes - The food festival happening at Spice Jar, Residency hotels (T nagar) takes you on culinary journey through the rich food traditions of southern districts from Madurai – Virudhunagar – Tirunelveli – Kanyakumari.
The Buffet spread was very huge and many of the dishes were home-made delicacies prepared by experts brought in from these districts.
Tamarind flavour is the magic formulae for most of Tirunelveli dishes and you could taste it in every signature dish.
My most favorite was the Ervadi Kozhi biriyani made with seeraga samba rice. Madurai’s Hot coin parottas shallow-fried in oil, and usually served with non Veg gravies .
Rice with Sodhi and Bonda Morkolambu is something not to be missed
Rejoice and indulge in an array of delicacies such as Suseendram Bonda ,Ambai kozhi kothu, Valliyur erachi kozhambu, Kanyakumari meen puli kozhambu and Sattur kozhi varuval , poondu kozhambu, vatha kozhambu, avial , variety poriyals made with vazhaikkai, and the irresistible manathakkali pachchadi, to name a few!
The desserts had delicacies such as the all-time favorite Tirunelveli Halwa and other varieties such as ravai urundai,Kozhukattai , porulvilangaa urundai & the marvellous inippu sev, Murukku varieties and Paanagam
The festival runs till 17th November and is priced at ₹999 per plate
After long time met chef Kishore in The Residency hotel. We used to step in to Mainstreet in Residency Towers Hotel where we met him once we liked the way chef Kishore approached us and made us to eat a lot .Now we came to know tht he was here so we stepped in , lovely food today we had at spice jar . This is our first time visit to spice Jar. Wide variety of food both veg and nonveg equally displayed . Mouth watering starters . Chef Kishore explained us the buffet spread and others service staff was very active towards guest .
The buffet price also a reasonable one when compared to other buffet restaurant . Today not much crowd in spice jar so my kid enjoyed a lot . Chef abdhulla made us a good lava cake for my kid .she enjoyed .
Here we found very good hospitality .
Will make sure will plan a day to be present with my whole family to spice jar.
Decent place with yummy food...I went for the buffet here...more options for veggies...starters are really good for veg and non-veg... service is really good...

Went for lunch buffet along with my friends. Wide spread buffet. Tasty. Good choices to both veg and non-veg. Value for money. Service is too good. Starters are on table service. Live counters are the special mention.
Is it old or new, it’s a dilemma and taste is really old (no pun intended). It’s really awesome. In particular the chicken and sea food. Kudos to the chef!
The place though small, looks like had a makeover recently.

It was nice place and had a dinner on this new-year. Pasta was very good. the waiter and captain was good. I like the approach of Mr. Jayaraj, fish butter carving was fantastic and no word to appreciate their work. I completely enjoyed.
Went for Sunday lunch buffet. Was a value for money considering we were moderate eaters. The starters had 4 veg and 4 non veg items including mutton chapli kebab, nethili fish fry and 2 chicken dishes. Mains consisted of Paya and idiyappam (very odd for lunch) but tasted good. Beef, chicken and fish mains with noodles Indian breads, pulao. It had veg biriyani, mutton biriyani and chicken biriyani. Deserts included 10 varieties of Indian as well continental sweet and puddings with 4 ice creams. Biriyanis were very average in taste. Good service.
Food is super... kolkata mutton briyani is not tat much good. Other than that all items are amazing...
Overall ambience and taste of the food is nice. The price is little high for buffet dinner but can be considered if these improvements are taken care of 1) Could see mosquitos here and there 2) No Live station to order south/north special dishes 3) Coverage of continental items is very less

I had mutton biryani and some noodles and cauliflower Manchurian, kung pao chicken, pulav and paneer lababdar , kozhi varutha Kari and butter naan
All the dishes I had tasted 👍
Desserts and juices
There was watermelon , strawberry milk and lemon juice everything tasted good
And for desserts there was hot malpua , blueberry panna cotta, vatalapam, orange mousse, different varieties of cakes, baked yogurt and four flavours of ice cream ( mango, strawberry,pista and butterscotch) with toppings.
Soups, starter and breads were served at table
Tea , coffee and green tea was also available
Had filter coffee which was 👍
Overall had a satisfactory experience would rate 3.5/5
The service was very slow, could have been a little prompt

The location, ambience and food was all good. We enjoyed the ambience and delicious food. Dessert varieties are lot to try. It will be good if they provide starters on time without delay. Overall satisfied.

We had a great time and food 😁.All the dishes are too good and the ambience is very pleasant.we got good service from Princy and she guided us in a friendly manner
