We have been coming to opal inn for many years now (20 years) and the standard of the food has not gone down.. it’s very rare for a restaurant to stay standing so long with the same quality and quantity of food that you want to keep going back to it. My in laws love that place as they hold a lot of memories.. now that it’s renovated, it looks neater and brighter. Service is good as well and everytime we go, it’s crowded. My nieces too keep asking for the food that we’ve started getting home delivery now..
This is a small hidden gem in Chennai. If you want to try amazing sizzler Than this place is a must visit. Very clean and neat place. Servers are very hospitable.. must try The buff sizzler.. everything is made from scratch and food taste is to the point.
Ordered French onion soup, corn and bread, Steak sizzler and Opal in Chicken. The corn and bread is a must try and its one of the best dishes. The corn dish is quite tasty. Ensure to first taste it and order others later since its quite heavy and comes with 8 pieces of bread. The Opal inn chicken was very crispy and tasted good as well. The steak sizzler was average. It was chewy. The French onion soup was average as well.
They have a nice valet parking.
Overall food was good. The tomato soup was so sweet we could not eat it. They were very kind to still charge us for returning it.

Opal inn has always been our go-to hotel for non-vegetarian feasts. These guys were the first to introduce the concept of sizzlers in Chennai. While their sizzlers are out of this world, their drumstick chicken is equally heavenly. If you turn up late, you may have to hear that their drumstick chicken stock is over. Their seafood grill is something every seafood lover must try atleast once. Their steaks ate juicy, aromatic, and delicious. They have decent list of desserts options too!
The food was delicious, specially the biryani and sizzler were top notch (highly recommended) must try it. The place was clean and the atmosphere was great. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great place to eat.
Opal inn has been in chennai for many decades now and has always been awesome in taste. Recently after my years had dinner and their taste of food is great, specialty the biryani is good and sizzlers are fantastic must try it. Food is children friendly and not too spicy unless it is notified they would and will always make sure they notify us if the choice made is a spicy one.
They are known for their sea food offering and didn't disappoint. They really had lobsters on their menu which was served after removing from the shell alongwith some sauces and veggies. Prawn fry was tastefully done properly marinated and looked and tasted appetizing veg noodles and mushroom fry were also great. Chicken biryani was excellent and so was the squid drink was a glass of lemon soda which was also tasty. Amust visit for anyone traveling to Chennai
This place is little hard to notice but once when you cross the park or make a u turn near the gemini flyover you can spot this white building. The ambiance is soothing enough and the taste is so yummy. Non veg lovers need to try the lamb and beef here as they are so succulent and tender. Steaks are equally impressive as well. Make sure to try the strawberry mock tail and the litchi delight for the ice cream as they will make you feel as if you are in heaven. The service is lightning quick and the staff are very friendly too. The waiter was polite enough to repeat us twice that the kitchen was about to close. Parking space is sufficient for 5 to 6 cars and bikes can be parked at the sides too.
Best food as usual. Prices are steep, but you can't go wrong with the quality and taste of the food. They serve continental and Chinese largely. Good parking as well.
