Go for it if you wanna taste food which would make you feel as if you are eating at home !! The restaurant 'll easily make you its regular customer :)
Though the name sounds different, the taste of foods in hotel rainmaker made me feel like home food. The best thing is we had a get together arranged in this hotel and we were allotted with separate room which fitted 10 of us with all privacy to enjoy and have fun with lot of laughter. Some of us opted for weekend buffet and some for alacart. Both the services were quick and friendly. Most of all it didn't pinch our wallet. The desserts served were awesome. Totally we had a blast with good hospitality and it proved that the good food need not come only from branded restaurants or famous chefs.
Very good... It's a essential flat... Complete home feeling... Nice food at a budget price....
I stay right next to rainmaker and till date never got the intuition to try it. But because of the heavy rains couldn't go anywhere so decided to go here and it was one of the best choices I made by far. The ambience very subtle and service was excellent. So for starters I tried the vegetable kebab platter. It was really tasty. And for mains we ordered the Mexican garden fresh sandwich and the pasta with Arora sauce. The sandwich was beautiful and unexpected and so was the pasta. Overall a must try for all those who want to try a twist in veg food at affordable prices.
Amazing buffet. Friendly environment. Filled till my neck. Good stewards. Awesome taste. Salads was awesome. We enjoyed a lot and loads. I was surprised on my first visit.
Pure veg hotels get out numbered easily. Though we have well established veg hotels, they are stereo typical and got nothing new to offer. Having read the reviews from zomato about rainmaker, I thought I would give it a try.
LOCATION (4/5):
Located at Trustpuram, near to the busy Arcot Road, finding this restaurant is easy. Two wheelers can be parked easily, while four wheelers have to be parked in adjacent streets, but won't be a challenge.
AMBIENCE (4.5/5):
It is a residential building converted into a restaurant. But having said that, I really liked the interiors. Lighting too is very good, neither too bright nor too dark.
FOOD (3.5/5):
They have south Indian , North Indian and Chinese cuisines on offer, we tried mostly the north Indian, hence review is based on what we had. The starters were excellent. we had a veg platter and chilly baby corn, both of which were too good. Quantity was also decent enough. For main dish, we had nans, Kulchas, along with panneer tikka masala and dum aloo gravy. The taste was good and portion sizes were decent, if not great. For dessert we had a brownie with hot chocolate sauce and royal falooda . Desserts were very ordinary and requires lot of improvement. If the desserts were gud, I cud have given 4/5 for the food.
SERVICE (3.5/5):
Service was decent enough. Waiting time for food was reasonable, and crowd was less, since it was a weekday. So can't really comment on how it would be on peak hours. But I feel staff's general awareness about the food can be improved upon.
VALUE ( 4/5):
The pricing is very apt , I am very satisfied. Gud value for money, as food and ambience was good.
VERDICT:
a good veg restaurant. Overall I would give 4/5.
Desserts need improvement though!!
Though kodambakam has a number of restaurants , rainmaker has been my favorite veg restaurant. All the food varieties they serve are good. Afternoon thali meals for rs.93 is very good and u get unlimited rice with a number add-ons . Other naan, khulcha and south Indian varieties are also very good
Really good food. A lot of variety. Would have been better had food been warmer. There were two soups and both tasted decent. The cream of tomato was a bit sour and the noodle soup was good. The starters were a bit bland but the tandoori aalu tasted decent. There was dosa topped with "molagai pudi" which tasted decent. There were three gravies for naan and roti. All three tasted really very good, but we're too oily. The paneer tandoori gravy could have been a aalu tandoori gravy and the tandoori aalu could have been a tandoori paneer. There were 3 main courses. Veg pulao, spicy tomato noodles (sour! For the tomato lovers :p), hyderabadi biriyani (which could have been better if it had been a bit more warmer) and they had 2 side dishes, raitha and Manchurian ball gravy. And the list goes further. There was *dates gothsu*, I did not taste that, and pasta (had olives and I love olives) that tasted fine with tomato sause. They had a new dessert. An Andra delight. Forgot its name, it was awesome. It had cream over toasted bread with toppings such as nuts, pomegranate etc and it was very tasty. Ice cream and three topping sauses and cut vegetables and fruits. A lot of variety indeed. Tasted very good. Right amount of salt and pepper and vinegar sauce to mix.
Coming to ambience. A flat has been refurbished to have a great dinner place. Not to forget their service, they delayed a bit to get the bread crumbs. But there is nothing to complain.
